A great beautiful small town. Although we were there to visit the Tawerau Falls, we ended up walking around and having a great meal at Town and Country Food cafe. Would recommend this place

Went to the falls today and the lady who got me my permit (i think her name was Tania) was really friendly, helpful, informative and most importantly very enthusiastic about Kawerau with a big smile on her face. A credit to the visitor centre.

We would like to commend Eunice at the Kawerau I-site for her helpful manner when she assisted us with info on Kawerau's wonderful motorhome facilities - Good sized/well marked parking spots; free 3 day access to electricity points (and a good number of these); lovely location, especially at Firmin Park where we decided to stay; great walking paths along the Tarawera River bank. We visited the town around Waitangi Day and attended the celebrations in town. A visit to your free swimming pool, including a hot pool, was a great bonus. Nice to see it is free for residents too. The District Council is very far sighted, justifying a tourist detour on the traditional way up from BOP to Rotorua. Eunice has a great attitude and presents a very positive image for Kawerau. It's a new iSlTE recently. It has been massively renovated to bring it into all national iSlTE standards. It has super friendly and helpful staff. The Public Toilets attached to the building are under going a fabulous make over now.

First visit to Kawerau started at I site Mathew was a great help. Returned the next morning for more information Eunice was great to deal with as well a great place to start your visit very impressed

This is the gateway to "Tarawera Falls". You take permit here at iSite, and drive towards Private Forest land for about 30Kms, gravel road to reach this treasure falls. See it to believe it.
