Definitely not your average walking tour, it's a lot of hidden stories and info that I don't think you'd notice just wandering round town on your own. I don't know Auckland so well so everything was new to me anyway, but my friend that I went with did and I think that they were surprised how much new stuff they found out from it too. The guide was super knowledgeable and really good at including people and their specific interests into the facts and info. The other people in the group were great too, all on the same level, I think it would be social even if you went on your own. It was a really cool experience, I would really recommend.

I would be confident in saying my knowledge of New Zealand history is better than most. Mainly because I have made a point of learning this because there was virtually nothing taught in school when I was younger. However, I learnt a great deal more from the tour. It was both very informative, interesting and absolutely fun. Had a great night with the small group of people. I would highly recommend to anyone, especially New Zealanders. It is vital we know the truth about our own history. Lastly, it is just so dam interesting, especially because it is quite new compared to other countries. Our host was amazing and I can't speak highly enough of the passion he showed but also the work and research he had clearly done.

A fantastic and unique way to spend an evening! So much more than your typical pub-crawl... it was wonderful fun, very funny, and very informative. Best entertainment I've had in a long time. Who knew Auckland had so much history to offer? Or such good beer! Shout out to Darcy for being such a great host!

HAPPY HOURS ! We met Darcy for the shooting of a report we were doing for the french public television and we absolutely enjoyed every bit of the time we spent with him. He took us to the most historical bars of Auckland, shared with us his huge knowledge on his country & his city and provided great information on the subject we were working on (the six O' clock swill !). If you want to to get to know the story of the bars of the city, the story behind them, taste the best local beers and also learn a lot about New Zealand having great fun, he is the man you need ! Darcy is a great storyteller and a cool fellow and his tour is thrilling, original and full of humour. Highly recommended !

It was one of the highlights of our trip and definitely a highlight of Auckland. It was a great way to learn about the history of New Zealand and explore the city, and of course a great way to try different New Zealand beers (the bars even let us sample some extra ones). Darcy is very personable and was very knowledgable when it came to the history of Auckland. This would be a great introduction to the city but also just for anyone who loves good beers and good stories :)

i had a friend visiting from overseas and they suggested going on this tour. As I grew up and lived in Auckland my whole life I was a little hesitant to go on the tour. Nevertheless the tour was a blast. Darcy was an amazing tour guide and I learnt a lot about the history of NZ and the city. Darcy was also great to have casual chats with. When he discovered that I was going to South East Asia on a backpacking trip he went over and above and answered all of my questions about the trip. Highly recommend this tour!
