Great group—strongly recommend. Friendly service, well-prepared, informed of the sport and the area. We did the Split Rock tour as a family of 4 with a 7 year old and 11 year old. It was the perfect length for us. Enjoyed the time on the water, seeing Split Rock up close, and casual time on the beach. Consider: morning outings are likely better for kids, as afternoon winds tend to be strong.

I am gonna write a very fresh review, as I just finished our half day trip. It was wonderful, especially for the family. We were told by other companies,they don’t take young kids. We were lucky to find R&R, they have the family tour specific for the little ones. Today’s tour ended up with so much excitement and everyone enjoyed. My little girl kinda started to love paddling a bit. And she tried to tidy the transport van up afterwards.

From A-Z absolute quality, personal service and can 100% recommend. We did the oar-some marine reserve trip and really enjoyed seeing the bays and lagoons around Abel Tasman. We saw heaps of seals and even a penguin! Our guide Tom was so capable and knowledgeable about the history and nature of the area which we really appreciated. Lunch was filled croissants, fruit and some slice plus tea and coffee which went down a treat.

We had such an amazing day on our Oar-some trip with R&R kayaks and our guide Jazz. From booking stage, communication was excellent. Rohan answered our questions promptly and even allowed us to change our booking day to avoid kayaking on the day Cyclone Dovi swept NZ. Rohan also allowed pick-up from our accommodation in Motueka. From the beginning to the end, our guide Jazz really looked after us and made us feel safe and comfortable. She is professional, fun, friendly and knowledgeable. The lunch was excellent. There were vegan croissants, fruits, caramel slices for dessert and also tea/hot chocolate/juice/coffee. The equipment is high-quality and easy to use. They also allowed us to modify our kayak time to finish slightly earlier due to another plan that we had. The kayaking pace and sightseeing just hit the spot and very doable even for beginners. We got lucky that R&R allowed us to modify so many things on our trip, mainly because we came during quiet season. However, even if your trip is during peak season, I have no doubt that they'll do their best to address your concerns and make you feel at ease. Hands down the best kayak group with the best value for money that I could recommend in the area. Thanks R&R team.

Great trip all round! We did the 3 day kayak trip, with a group of 11 and R&R were so helpful!! All the tips needed on packing, great beaches and spots to see, safety and paddling help. All necessary gear provided, and little extra miles like letting us charge our phones in the office and hold onto our car keys etc. SUCH a beautiful part of the country would recommend to anyone, and these guys definitely topped it off with hot showers at the end 🙌🏼

Amazing day! Went for the self guided single day kayak. We’ve done sea kayaking before but never self guided. After our morning briefing we felt fully prepped and confident to head out on our own and navigate from beach to beach to island and back again. From following the staffs guidance we managed to see loads of seals, plenty of fish and sting rays at low tide. All the equipment was great. Would highly recommend!

I decided to do the southern duo trip with R&R kayaks - the experience was amazing! right from the point of booking, talking to Zach on the phone to kayaking out and seeing baby seals with Tom! everything was so smooth and easy. We did the full day guided kayaking trip with R&R and had the best experience. This trip was the highlight of our week away. We have never kayaked before, but that wasn't a problem. It really was a fantastic experience being so close to the water and seeing how crystal clear it was. Seeing all the seals, stingray and birdlife. The lunch stop was fantastic with fabulous food and coffee. A real treat. Rohan was super accommodating allowing us to change days and Tom our guide was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about kayaking in the area. Really appreciated the excellent Maori pronunciation too as other tour companies are definitely lacking in this area. I would HIGHLY recommend doing a guided tour with R&R. We are so glad we did it.

The views that you see are beautiful and the paddling over to split rock was easy as you are taking in all the views and not paying attention to the effort it takes. We did the Marine Reserve guided tour from Onetahuti to Anchorage Bay from R&R Kayaks. Our guide for the day was Aaron and he was awesome. He really knew his stuff, looked after us well and was very chill. We saw baby seals, stingrays and even a penguin, thnsk to his sharp eyes :P He also took us around some beutiful estuaries. We were a bit apprehensive about the trip, since we didn't have much experience on a sea kayak, but the kayaks were very steady and reliable and we weren't as tired as we thought we'd be. Aaron was very patient with us. We took a few breaks to grab snacks and have a swim. All in all a really special and safe way to explore the Abel Tasman. Thanks Aaron! :)

“A small company with a big heart” that is for sure. I had an amazing day out with R&R Kayaks. I did a full day kayak from Onetahuti to Anchorage via Tonga Island. With the high tide we were able to go through all the beautiful and peaceful lagoons which I probably would have missed had I just rented a kayak. We saw seals, penguins, gannets and a rich bird life. Tom, the tour guide had a great energy and had a lot of anecdotes about the fauna and flora. He definetly is passionate and experienced about kayak and his love for the area is obvious. I was lucky to be part of a small and friendly group, the advantage of choosing a smaller kayak operating company over of the bigger ones. Rohan, the owner was really friendly and super accommodating. He also has plenty of experience under his belt. On the full day trip, lunch is provided. We had a delicious croissant sandwich (I am French I should know haha), a piece of cake, a sweet slice and a fruit. Cold and hot drinks were also on the menu, coffee, hot chocolate, tea or juice. Water isn't provided but there is filtered water available at the stops. It was a great way to finish a multi-day hike. Thank you.

I took a full day guided tour with R&R, and strongly recommended that you do the same. Rossco, my guide was informative, supportive and bloody good laugh. You would be missing out on so much local knowledge (and a decent lunch) if you go out without a guide.

Excellent team with great trips. We booked a half-day southern explorer tour which brought us to the seal-sanctuary & along the cost. Really good trip with a good gide, good material and absolutely worth it. We can truly recommend it. Make sure that you have a water taxi drive included at least one way, otherwise you will hardly get into the beautiful spots of the park (some operators suggest you can start paddling up and down in half a day which is impossible if you dont go kayaking regularly).

The owners, guides and all staff are friendly, knowledgeable and thoughtful. The best settings for wholesome lunches with plunge coffee. Took a relatively quick bus ride from Nelson for a fair price. Had a fantastic time kayaking around the islands with Jazz. I was able to stay in the park overnight and was able to take a bus back a day later with no extra fee like some of the other companies charge.

We had such a great experience with R&R Kayaks. It was our first time sea kayaking and they made us feel very comfortable. The induction was not only informative but also fun. They also helped us with any questions we had on the track (as we we re walking the rest of the Abel Tasman after dropping the kayaks), let us leave our car there, and there were showers when we finished. The water taxi also dropped us off right next to their site at the end. Staff were so friendly and helpful. A must do if you are in the area; highly recommend!!!

Such an amazing guided day tour with R&R! We had everything explained clearly and were completely at ease about our lack of experience. Our guide Tom had an incredibly deep knowledge of and passion for the area. As we cruised through the beautiful Astrolabe and around Adele and Fisherman islands he told us all about the seals, birds, trees, geology and history. What a beautiful two day kayak tour. R&R staff and guides are very nice, helpful and professional. As one person you are not allowed to kayak alone at the Abel Tasman. So I asked many companies and R&R did a two day trip for my. On the first day I was kayaking with the guide Sally in a small group. It was a day tour from Onetahuti. You start in Marachau with the Watertaxi and going up there. Then kayaking from Onetahuti to Anchorage. We see two sealcollonies with baby seals. Then they book a DOC Campingplace at Anchorage for my. You can also book a Waterhostel if you want. At Anchorage they recommend a short walk up to the hill to a beautiful lookout, that I did on my own. The second day you go for a 30 min walk to Covering Bay where the second day of kayaking started at 12:30 pm. It's a half day trip. You have enough time to pack your gear in the morning, enjoying the beach and going to the meeting point. Look for the sign at the middle of the beach. There is the way to the meeting point. You get lunch. And you take food for first day dinner and second day breakfast. On second day we kayak from Watering Cove to Marahau also in a small group. I was waiting for good weather so I booked the day before without problems, but it's better to book early. Every kayak is a two person kayak. So you get another person for kayaking or you kayak with the guide. After the trip they take you back to R&R, where you can park you car. Thanks Patryk! We loved our long weekend in the Abel Tasman and it was made easy and stress free with R&R kayaks. They were super helpful and responsive in the lead up to our trip, and went above and beyond with airport transfers, bakery stops and tips for our kayak journey :) It was very handy getting our water taxi organised by R&R with great equipment and friendly staff. Would 100% recommend booking a trip with R&R and experiencing Abel Tasman by kayak.

A big thanks to Rohan and the team at R&R Kayaks for making the process so easy! We were a group of four who opted for the 2-day freedom kayak option, confident kayakers but the brief and set up process was great if you still had a couple of lingering nerves about doing it unguided. We were unlucky and had average weather but again kudos to the team who talked us through our options on how to get the most out of our kayak experience and altered our plan with us to avoid the bad conditions that would have made it pretty hard going. Big bonus points for helping us with our gear storage too! If you are looking for a team that has great local knowledge, is committed to getting the best experience out of the kayaks for you and have a laugh along the way, R&R Kayaks is the place to go. PS the seals were awesome. Definitely worth doing at least a day of kayaking to get up close with these beautiful creatures.

Not to be missed! Family business, excellent customer service & an awesome guide (really knowledgeable and enthusiastic). If you’re on a guided tour you get a lunch. Since I’m vegan, I was expecting a lettuce wrap or something.. however... I got a delicious tofu & falafel sandwich, bliss balls, coffee, juice...The works!! There are only a few things I feel like you have to experience at least once in our life and this is it (we did Magic in the middle guided kayak tour). Able to see the NZ nature at its finest and there would be no other place more peaceful. One of the best experiences we had in our lives! We did the 2 day Kiwi Escape tour at the end of December 2017. Due to a mix up on the dates of the tour (entirely my fault), we ended up witnessing first hand how good Rohan and his team's customer service is. Thanks to the flexibility and helpfulness on their side, what could have been a disaster instead turned out even better than what we had originally planned. The tour itself was fantastic, and we were treated to some fabulous close-up encounters with seals, one of which even decided to have a playful swim under and around our kayaks. Anchorage beach is a completely different place in the evening once the daytime crowds have left, and it was a brilliant place to spend the night. The kayaks and equipment were great, and were very new (couldn't have been more than a few months old). The meals provided were excellent, as was the camping equipment (it was all brand new). Special mention also for our guide Kate, who was everything you could hope for in a guide - friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and just generally great fun. She really did make it something extra special. Can't recommend this company enough.

We enjoyed a professionally organized tour of half day trekking and half day kayak, with an initial drop off and return via water taxi and lunch included. The self-guided trek was well marked. Clean bathrooms were available before we began the kayaking. Lunch was acceptable, although could have been a bit more robust. Our kayak guide, Jazz, was informative and fun. Overall it was a bit pricey for the experience but the price was on par with other operators in the area. It seemed to be a more intimate operation as it's a smaller company than the larger outfits. We were pleased with the level of customer service.

Excellent kayak tour with good quality equipment and very professional guides. We opted for a kayak up to observation beach and walked back through the national park. The kayaking was beautiful and we felt safe and in good hands throughout. The walk way a very nice change of perspective and a break from working the arms. R&R were professional and knowledgeable about the weather and how it can impact our tour. They were upfront with us about the possibility of tour cancellation should the weather deteriorate. Thankfully this didn't happen and we had a fantastic day out!

We took the whole day Kayaking. It was good as the north part of the shore doesn’t have free kayaking access, so the only chance to visit it is with a guide. Our guide was super nice, but she didn’t talked us about the park, she just brought us to the places. So it wasn’t what we expected for the cost of the activity. We wouldn’t do it again for that price, as the shore where the free kayaking is allowed is also nice, and the cost is not that high.

I had a full day kayak tour and really enjoyed doing it with RR Kayaks! The guide was very friendly and provided plenty of interesting information on the Abel Tasman, its history and future. Myself and my partner had the best time exploring the stunning Abel Tasman National Park with R&R Kayaks on a full day Oar-some Marine Reserve Kayak Tour. You get to see and do so much on this trip, visiting the park's 'must do' spots like Tonga Island, where you are pretty much guaranteed to see New Zealand fur seals. The tour includes kayaking in beautiful lagoons and a lunch stop at one of the park's many amazing beaches. We even managed to do some kayak sailing in the afternoon which is a really fun and unique activity. Our guide Ally was great so we definitely recommend the Oar-some Marine Reserve Tour and R&R Kayaks - it's the best way to see the best of Abel Tasman : )

Again super organized and quickly we were on a cruise to drive us up. Saw the splitt apple rock, some seals and then got dropped off at achorebay. From there we had a beautiful walk through the rain forest with a stop at a natural water slide and then headed tooberservation bay to take our kajak tour back. We went on the oar-some adventure and could not really see the value added when spending 220 dollars for water taxi transport and a different kayaking location instead of the 110 for a simpler trip in which the return transport was a walk. In the end, we would have rather taken the walk and saved the money. The trip itself was ok, but I wouldn't consider it a full day trip when it finished by 3 pm. Seeing the other positive reviews, this was a disappointment for us.

Abel Tasman is really beautiful, the staff of this compagny is kind but I arrived at 8:30am, 30 min of waiting the other people, 2 hour of speaking for nothing, so start kayak at 11:00 am..It's ok but end time at 3:30pm so 85$ for 4:30 of kayak it's really to expensive. (Original) J'ai fais la sortie " la crème de la crème " et je suis fortement déçue car je trouve excessivement chere pour la prestation.Meme si le lieu est jolie certe je trouve chere pour 2 taxi boat et 2h de kayak, car il faut savoir que la partie randonnée se fait en autonomie sans guide. Je vous conseille de faire par vous meme en reservant les taxi boat ca vous coûtera bien moins chère. Prévoyez egalement assez d'eau car elle n'est pas fourni contrairement a ce qu'on mavais dit.
