We absolutely loved our trip with Clive! We paddled around Pepin Island in January on the half day trip. The morning was perfect, and Clive was a brilliant guide and host. He's very knowledgable and super funny, and nailed the coffee + brownie! We have recommended this trip to a bunch of people, and will be back again one day ourselves.

Great kayak experience! Perfect even for beginners with no experience! You need absolutely zero experience. Kayaking through a few coves (you dont have to but you will want to) was definitely another plus for the fun! Owner/guide Clive was awesome and very informative! Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Nelson to give it a go! :)

Excellent kayak tour! Clive was professional and just a lovely bloke in general. Bonus points for homemade cake and plunger coffee on our own private beach!

What an amazing experience going on a guided tour around Pepin Island. Clive was an awesome kayak guide- he had so much knowledge about the history of the islands and is a warm and friendly person.Definitely something I would be keen to do again.

More people need to see this amazing place. Best way to do this is just park at cable bay and take the hike and and turn back to your car as the hike actually starts in Glen but then you need a ride back to your car. Also beach is really rocky to be careful

Very sympathics guides, good kayals and suits, amazing trip. We saw seals, we enter in caves.
A real good experience and memory for the two of us.

Grieg was a total pro and led a great trip. Took our group of 3 around the entire island in just 3 hours. Showed us some amazing formations on the island and located some fur seals for my family to see. We had a great time and would go again.

Fantastic experience, my husband and I had an amazing day out with the team at cable Bay Kayaks would highly recommend this experience to locals and tourists alike!

An awesome trip!! Greig is a great guide; friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to share his love of the outdoors. The trip felt personalised, and all ages and ability levels within our group were catered for. Cable Bay is a hidden gem in the Nelson region - a pristine area to visit, without the crowds. Thanks Greig for making our day special :)

This was SUCH an incredible experience! Clive is so wonderful. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history and landscape of Pepin island and was a ton of fun. We had a lovely little stop with tea, coffee and lemon drizzle. In our opinion, it's also incredibly reasonably priced. 11/10 would recommend. He also took some AMAZING pictures which he sent to us for free. Thank you Clive for a day we won't soon forget!!

What a wonderful morning experiencing the stunning Cable Bay coastline. We loved being on the water and found the kayaks very stable and easy to paddle. Clive was amazing and full of great local information and kept us safe. We were lucky enough to see seals and a blue penguin as well as the regular birds and starfish. Thanks for a super day.

Booked a half-day group kayak and I would recommend this trip to anyone! It's spectacularly gorgeous, the water is an unbelievable colour, the guides were friendly and informative locals, equipment was excellent and kept you dry (a first for me in a sea kayak!) and the afternoon tea was abundant and delicious, with a private swim in crystal waters to boot. Brilliant.

It is a very interesting and exciting experience, no doubt. The whole journey was very joyful, and I learned a lot of knowledge during this journey. During the few hours that I lost the signal, I was completely relaxed and enjoyed. By the way,the homemade desserts are delicious. This is a very beautiful experience, thanks to Clive and Mel. Also thanks for pictures it is wonderful.

My friend and I had an amazing day out kayaking with Cabel Bay Kayaks. The scenery was amazing and our guide, Clive, was very knowledgeable about the area and kept us safe on our trip. We saw a great number of different sea birds and marine wildlife. Morning tea was provided and absolutely delicious! Massive thanks to Mel for organising our dietary requirements (gf and vegetarian). An absolute must-do for anyone visiting the Abel Tasman/Nelson area.

Had a fantastic trip with Cable Bay Kayaks at the weekend - highly recommend it as an activity if in the Nelson area, for adults or families. Stunning scenery and really interesting piece of coastline. Would highly recommend.

We had a very nice trip today. We saw a seal with a babyseal and lots of different birds. We were only a few people and our tour was far from the tourists, great! Graig, the owner of cablakajak is very friendly and experienced in kayaking. He explains everything very well and is very patient, as befits a good guide. We were very happy with the tour and had fun, thanks.

We're locals to the area and absolutely loved this trip! The team at Cable Bay Kayaks are friendly, well organised and attentive to your needs. The scenery was breathtaking and the wildlife was very special. Highly recommend this tour - would do it again in a heartbeat!

We had an awesome time with Cable Bay Kayaks. We did the half day tour and so much interesting stuff was packed in. Both our guides were super informative, helpful, friendly and professional. It was one our highlights of our trip to the South Island. Thanks for a great trip!

Really enjoyed my day out on the water with Gwyn and Clive. The pre-arrival communication, safety briefing, time out on the water was amazing. It was fun going through little passages and alcoves and since we were doing good on time, Gwyn and Clive modified the tour so we got to see a lot more even though we were back at the start. Refreshments were home made (much appreciated) and the company excellent. I would go out to sea again with Cable Bay Kayaks in a heartbeat and cannot recommend them highly enough.

Cable Bay is a beautiful spot and the guides are experienced and helpful! It's also great that it's less touristy than many of the other spots. We went on a very windy day but the guides helped make sure we were safe. The coffee and tea and snacks afterward were a great bonus!
B.
Best Kayaking trip ever! We spent an exciting day kayaking in and around Pepin Island and snorkeling in some of the bays - just beautiful . Fantastic scenery , kayaking into caves , waterfalls and plenty of bird life. Greig was excellent , informative and made the day such a memorable time . We can't wait to go again.

The very patient and genuinely friendly guides made us novices feel at ease. They also mentioned an experienced kayaker who had requested to be taken out in rough weather, so whatever your skill level, they can accommodate you. The kayaks are excellent quality and the neoprene skirts keep the water out. You get to stop on Pepin Island for a welcome break, complete with coffee and cake. On our trip, we wended our way through a cave, paddled under a waterfall, saw kingfishers, a seagull colony and seals. We only spent a half day together, but I was sad to say goodbye.
L.
Fun tour, exciting to go around the coast and through the caves. You get close to the wildlife which is really awesome. Amazing guide and excellent coffee/tea and cake!

What an amazing adventure! Went on a half day excursion with Greig. We were taught kayaking basics while we paddled through caves and waterfalls. Great banter, all kinds of fun history about the area. Such a beautiful and remote area that could only have been accessed with CBK. They were professional and safe while also keeping it fun! HIGHLY recommended!!!

Cable Bay is one of my favourite places in New Zealand and I loved exploring it by kayak. We did the half-day trip and loved kayaking through the caves and relaxing on a hidden beach for a break.
It's a great, quieter alternative to Abel Tasman (which we also love) with more interesting rock formations.
Head to the Cable Bay Cafe for lunch afterwards and walk up the hill for an amazing view (if you have the energy).

While travelling from Auckland to Wanaka last month, we stopped for a couple of days in Nelson, where we spent a day out kayaking with Cable Bay Kayaks. It was a real highlight of our trip and our guide Greig was brilliant! The trip took us into many caves, through shoots, around the interesting landscape of Pepin Island and to top it off, we saw an abundance of wildlife, including seals...my favourite!!! We even had time for a quick swim and snorkel in the cool, clear waters. Greig shared his fabulous knowledge of the local history and geography and was a very experienced kayak guide, always ensuring everyone felt confident and safe. We had a great experience and highly recommend Cable Bay Kayaks!

Had a great day out just after Christmas on one of the hottest days of t summer. All my expectations were blown out of the water, as we kayak along the rugged coastline in out of caves and coves with abundant wildlife all around while hearing about the rich history of Pepin Island and its strategic importance. Stopping for lunch a in one of the many secluded bays and swimming in the warm waters was great. While having lunch we saw a pod of dolphins and followed them back along the coastline and into Tasman bay. finishing off with a relaxing swim back at cable bay beach. All around great day and experience! I highly recommend this trip, Thanks Greig!
K.
We had a great day there! We visited beautiful spots and even saw some wild seals. Nick was a friendly experienced guide. Definitely worth a tour when you have time for a whole day and would like to explore Cable Bay or just have fun.

Our trip on 25 January, guided by Greig, has been one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand! He took us to remote, rugged, pristine areas that we never would have been able to do by ourselves. Grieg was incredibly calm and patient with us as this was our first time in a rudder steered sea kayak. With his capable guidance, we were able to take on the thrill of navigating through caves and safely manage a bit of choppy water. Grieg was also a wealth of knowledge about the birds, seals, and geography we saw as well as the history. Highly recommend. Thank you, Greig, for helping to make my husband's birthday spectacular!
S.
A fantastic way to spend a few hours on the water kayaking from Cable Bay around Pepin Island. We were in good hands with our guide Greig who was very friendly and had good local knowledge. Highly recommended.
B.
We spent the afternoon kayaking with Greig along Cable Bay. It was stunning! Kayaked into protected coves and in and out of caves. He knows the coastline, and is informative. A totally different experience then the Tasmin coastline. Highly recommend this.

This was an awesome experience, Clyde was very professional, friendly and willing to answer any question and just chat with us. The homemade snacks were a very nice touch as well ! I highly recommend it !!!

Greg our guide was friendly and knowledgable. My son and I had a great time kayaking aroung Pepin Island. A great experiance - highly recommended!
L.
Nice people who know what you can do with a kayak in the lagoon. You will have a better experience at high tide as the lagoon is very shallow and you start out and finish near the ocean entrance where the tidal currents are strongest

My partner and I loved our experience with Cable Bay Kayaks. We would highly recommend!!

(Translated) A great kayak ride!
The Cable Bay setting is beautiful, with small bays and beaches to discover and lots of marine life to see (birds, seals, ...). The crossings under the arches and tunnels are a great experience!
The team is friendly and competent and gives a lot of details on what they see.
Tea on the beach is welcome, and the water at 18 degrees does not scare you, you can swim in clear water and calm.
To make absolutely if you stay in Nelson or on the way to Golden Bay.
