M.We completed 2 activities here the clay shooting and 4wd buggy experience. We had an absolute blast today and our guide/host Sean was amazing. One of the best days ever and worth every cent. Will be repeating this experience nect time we were down. Neither my daughter or wife had ever shot a gun before and both were nervous at the start but left grinning ear to ear. 4wd in summer is one time you won't mind wearing a mask as loads of dust so do be prepared to have a dust bath. Sun glasses are definitely recommended too for same reason. Such a blast going up and down the hill.
H.Our group of 9 had our very first horse trekking experience there few days ago.
The booked session was initially on Sunday but had to change to the next day due to terrible weather. They made the arrangement willingly without any hesitation.
We arrived one hour early before our session started. They were still very happy to let us start right away.
We were so blessed to have such a beautiful weather despite the forecast was showing 70% of rain throughout the day.
All of us had enjoyed the trip and my daughter even said that was the best experience she has ever had in Rotorua. (Not to mention she begged for going back again on the following day)

d.Highly recommend the horse track riding and the horse trainers and their staff were very friendly and welcoming we even enjoyed a small talk here and there on the way, it's one of the best experiences I have had , worth the shot , they take you up the hill with the beautiful lake view
M.Came and did the 1 hour horse trek with my friend. We were not disappointed. Our guide was very onto it and made sure everyone was comfortable before we set off. In fact every staff member we came into contact with was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. The hour went by very quickly and we we didn’t want to leave! The view at the top the hill was well worth the climb (not that we were doing any of the work!). All the horses looked healthy and well looked after. We’ll definitely be back again.

P.Spent the morning here horse trek then clay pigeon shooting. Had an amazing time great trek up the mountain with our guides. Horses were well mannered and reassuring especially for novice riders. Beautiful views of the Lake and stunning weather too. We then went up in a side by side to the clay shoot cabin. Four novices to shooting we started with a little trepidation but our guides reassured us and we loved it. Didn’t hit many clays but had a blast!
Great time had by all left with big smiles!! Awesome activity centre.
l.Went on a horse trek over the nearby hill and it was a great experience. Good for total beginners to horse riding as well as more experienced riders. The views were very pleasant and the tour guides were very good and polite. price is reasonable too

I.We had the best experiene today off roading and doing the clay shooting, all the staff were lovely and we felt very welcome. It was such a fun afternoon and I will definetley be coming back!!

We took a short, fun buggy ride from the main area to where we were shooting. We got to use two different guns including an "over and under" with 2 rounds in it, and a pump action shotgun that had 5 rounds in it.
We had some great banter with Joseph and at the end he told us that they even use biodegradable clay that doesn't damage the area that they do shooting in. I would highly recommend coming here, and I will definitely come back either for claybird shooting or for some of the other activities! Thanks Joseph! We had a great time :)
J.The quad bikes are great fun and there are impressive views from the top. A little pricey, but fairly standard compared to other attractions in Rotorua. The clay bird shooting is also very enjoyable.
G.This review is for the staff and the horse trek offering. The check-in staff is friendly and helpful, and I was fortunate to be assigned to guide Ihaia (pronounced Even-HIGH-YUck). Ihaia did a superb job, and his experience showed - from the inspection of the tack and tacking up, to preparing the customers for the ride, to the close safety observations and care of the riders throughout the trek, to the helpfulness during the dismount. Exceptionally pleasant, friendly, helpful, wonderful conversation during the trek, top-notch performance and likely the best horse trekking guide on the island. The trek to and from the Mount Ngongotaha viewpoint was quite enjoyable, and your guide will help take wonderful photos to capture the memory. Highly recommended!

U.My wife and I took the 1 hr 4x4 self drive through the farmland and native bush, it had rained the night before so made the trip a lot more exciting. This is truely an amazing property and our guide Ihaia ( Easy) made the whole experience so much better, he is an amazing guy with so much local knowledge, looking forward to going back and do the horse trek , hopefully with Easy. A.Did the one hour horse trek with Natalie - it was absolutely amazing! I was the only one who signed up for the tour, so it was just us two riding on the track and chatting away. I hadn’t gone riding in over a decade, but my horse Bishop was super friendly and gentle and easy to work with. The views at the top were great and I loved seeing the sheep and cows along the way. Would definitely recommend!
M.I bought my newly engaged fiance to spend our special day here and we absolutely loved it! The staff made us feel very special and they were super friendly and professional! We highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a fun day! We bought the triple pass - Horse riding, 4 x 4 self drive and clay pigeon shooting package. C.Visited Adventure Playground in June 2018. I really enjoyed myself. My husband and I did the buggy ride and horse back riding. The staff there were very nice and friendly. Overall a wonderful experience. Definitely will be visiting again in the future. Wish I could add pictures. The lady we went horseback riding with was just a joy to talk too. She also chose the perfect horse for me. You could tell she really enjoyed her job.
M.Fantastic experience and service with this guys. Did the horse riding with Natalie and Jane and I absolutely loved it. These women provide a fantastic compassionate and fun horse riding experience and are warm and welcoming. Johnny took myself clay bird shooting and is an absolute legend. He is down to earth, professional, respectful and patient. He is very humble despite being a shooting expert and skilled at what he does which is very refreshing to be around when partaking in adventure activities. The team here made my day. I absolutely reccomend Rotorua Adventure Playground as a must see and experience, while in New Zealand. They live and breathe the welcoming, warm and fun energy associated with the wonderful people in New Zealand and will make you feel comfortable and have fun. A big thank you guys.
S.I've done many of the tourist attractions in Rotorua and Adventure Playground has just reached my top 3 favorite attractions!! Three friends and myself went on the hour long quad bike adventure and had a blast! They supplied us with all the required gear (helmet, gum boots, protective dust attire) and gave us a great a experience. There were two other people in our group who had significant experience riding bikes while the four of us did not, so after an introduction, Steve and Joseph split us up into two different groups and took us on tracks that better fit our abilities. It was safe, fun, and I couldn't stop giggling. The views were great, bikes were reliable and easy to use, and the staff genuinely made a fun experience fantastic! Thank you Steve and Joseph!!!

W.Great place for all sort of adventure. We did the 4*4 self drive quad bike with our seven year old. Riding was fun for the little one and the adults. Stopped a few times to take in the stunning view, the gorgeous native bush and to chill a bit. Highly recommended.
Next time we will try the horse trekking, the archery, the paintball etc.

I visited this team from India in December and I took a horse riding for 1hour.
It was just amazing and a worth doing activity.
The crew and one of the guide, Hayley picked me up from Rotorua city as I didn’t have my own transportation. A very friendly and easy going person whom I can refer to anyone.
I was initially bit nervous about the activity as I had never experienced horse before. But all the three girls including Hayley are very friendly and guided the horses well.
It was a nice experience of climbing the mountain and viewing the scenic landscape from the hill.
I would recommend this as a must visit in Rotorua.

D.My girlfriend and I had an awesome time shooting. Loads of fun, with a lot of different challenges to keeping interesting while you are shooting for over an hour. Highly recommend at least getting the 50 round package, don’t won’t to miss out on all the fun!
L.Had a great time on the ATV trek. Our guide helped us get a little muddy despite the beautiful weather. He was a very warm and welcoming guy and was forgiving to newbies.
Afterwards we decided to jump on the horses for something a little more slow paced. The guides were informative and friendly but overall a slightly underwhelming experience.

I was a bit nervous before we took off but soon felt comfortable with our very experienced cautious yet fun driver. The youngest in our group was almost 4 & oldest 50+. We had such a huge group that we needed 3 buggys. All drivers were amazing friendly & helpful. They took lots of great shots for us with our phones. We did the 1 hour track. 😃👍
M.What an awesome experience! My husband and I did the guided 4x4 tour with a driver! Was so so good!! Kani was a bloody legend and made us feel at ease from the beginning! The views were spectacular and the sun shone at the perfect moment! We loved every minure of it! Couldn’t recommend it enough!

He started us off in the training pit to get a sense of our riding ability. I fumbled a little bit, but he was patient and offered some tips and I was able to pick it up and be confident enough to go up the hill. My partner didn't struggle at all in the training pit, but then he took a turn wrong and rolled down the hill. It was pretty funny and we made sure to not let him live it down. Shadrock was awesome the whole way, providing information on the property, the local area and made me feel safe and welcome from start to finish!
The best part had to be the sexy outfits they give you! Reow!
The girls who took us last minute for a horse trek were lovely. I got to ride the beautiful half Clydesdale, Doe Boy, and my partner was on a mixed breed called Buddy. Unfortunately I couldn't convince them of my experience, as well as being in quite a large group, which meant we couldn't go for a trot or canter. Although, Doe Boy must have heard me because he took me on 2 little trots.
All round, the staff here are wonderful and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend you go, regardless of your ability. There is something for everyone here and I enjoyed their focus on safety

Recently my friends and I visited Adventure Playground and done the 4X4 Buggy, Clay Shooting & Horse Riding the customer service we recieved was great and the staff always friendly! We had such a great experience the first we went back a second time for more clay shooting to finish out our holiday. Will definetly be coming back to New Zealand for another trip and its service like adventure playground has thats makes me want to go back

I.My girlfriend and I came here for the horse riding package to celebrate our three year anniversary. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived it was pouring down with rain and I was worried the evening might be more of a trudge through cold, wet conditions than the fun horse ride I was hoping for.
Fortunately, there was a ray of sunshine on the tour and her name was Jaye (our tour guide). Jaye managed to brighten up the tour with her bubbly personality even in the torrential rain and turned what was shaping up to be a less than stellar experience into an intrepid horseback adventure through native bush with a personable guide to show us the ropes.
Looking back on it I wouldn’t change a thing. It really was the adventure we were both hoping for.

A.Very good place for your adventures, nice people, great instructors. No need to book in advance for claybird shooting. Learned the basic shooting skills, from never hold a real gun to 10 hits in a row! Shot with 3 different shotguns, 2 bullets, pump action and semi-auto. Will come back again!

Bruce, our guide, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the legends and details of the area, and there was a good balance between the driving and sightseeing.
We also did the skeet shooting. Another really well run and fun activity.
Ihaia, our guide and advisor, was also excellent. Very helpful and obviously enjoyed what he was doing. Gave us a good rundown on additional new activities they were planning, and made a real effort to make it an entertaining afternoon
We'll definitely be going again, Totally recommended.
