Left late afternoon for our 105minutes flight over the Doubtful and Dusky Sounds . Landing twice on top at specific locations, 15minutes each time . Andrew Heff our pilot, you could not get a more nicer , considered and obliging pilot. Offered to take photo's, explaining all about the peaks surrounding us and how the little lakes were formed up in the mountains . The Champaign was great also on top of the world .

Stunning! We took the Doubtful & Milford Scenic Trip in January 2022. It was magic. What a way to see this glorious part of our beautiful country. Our pilot was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating (I needed a wee step ladder to get on board :( ) We landed on three occasions, beside a mountain lake and a wee isolated gem of a beach however the picnic on top of a mountain was the pinnacle (pun intended) on a flight filled with extraordinary experiences. Well worth the price. Cant wait to do another flight.

Spectacular to say the least. If you want to see the real Fiordland, Milford sound & Dusty Doubtful sound at a whole new angle this is a must do. Davey the pilot full of knowledge outstanding and a great asset.

Based on our experience, these guys are the tops! I've done many scenic helicopter flights around the world and during our month in New Zealand we did five, but the Dusky and Doubtful Sounds flight we took with Southern Lakes Helicopters was one of the all time greats. The flight path was amazing, with stunning scenery across Fiordland everywhere you looked, and the landing spots left me speechless. It is hard to find the words to describe the beauty of this area from the air. Flying is really the only way to grasp the wonder and vast extent of the Fiordland region. Our pilot was great and having flown the area for years had masses of information to impart on the the geology, wildlife, farming and culture of the region. An experience of a lifetime.

WOW, seriously, if you want to see NZ or Fiordland at its best, then fly with Southern Lakes Helicopters. Our Pilot Snow was a professional, knowledgeable, down to earth guy, who clearly loves this country and was happy to show it off to us! Pristine NZ felt like no one had been there before us it is so stunning, worth every cent. DO IT.

WOW, what an incredible afternoon. Saw some really remote places on route to doubtful sound. On the way back we stopped high in the mountains and saw 4 kea flying around us. Our pilot was very knowledgeable as he has been flying the area for a long time. Thanks Rod 🤘

We did the heli trip to Luxmore hut with some fantastic sightseeing on the way. A quick pickup and friendly office staff and pilot. The hike down from Luxmore hut back to Te Anau was a highlight along with the helicopter trip

Kia ora. Southern lakes helicopters were cool from the moment we walked in. The lady at reception, forgot her name 🤔 explained the flight options clearly and offered a discount so we had go. The lake helipad is a cool location to take off and land on with a trout that swims around it. Matt the pilot took us over the lake te anau and lake manapouri to mount no name for a look out and clean the windscreen so we can see clearly and what a spectacular view from the co pilots seat of the Robinson. The return trip came too soon but the Moose Tavern was straight across the road and I was feeling parched so we had to go. The Moose was cool too. 😎 cheers

Traveling for more than a month in NZ, the Dusky and Doubtful Sounds tour let us speechless ! If you should do only one thing in this region, do this tour ! You see absolutely everything ! Our pilot was experienced and pretty interesting ! It’s definitely worth the investment. Don’t count for this one and take it as a life experience. Trust me 😉

You have to experience the fjords from up high to appreciate the size and beauty of the landscape. We decided to visit Milford Sound on our own and take the cruise to get the view from "below", and then took a heli-tour of the Dusky and Doubtful Sound fjords.. that allowed us to see all the highlights, and it was spectacular. The staff were very friendly, helped us reschedule a few times to get the best weather, and the pilot was top notch and knew his stuff. We did two landings (one on top of a mountain, one in a valley) and both spots were really scenic. All in all, an amazing experience. The helicopter tours are definitely on the expensive side, but it is money well spent. A slightly cheaper option is to take the plane, but then you don't get the landing, and those were well worth it -- we snapped some beautiful shots from otherwise inaccessible locations.

This was the most spectacular experience of my whole life. You will get up close and personal with the peaks of Fiordland, waterfalls and glaciers as well as the gorgeous Milford sound. Spectacular company with experienced and professional staff! Highly recommend!

A flight and landing on a mountain top to overlook the peaks of Fiordland. Then a flight to the Luxmore Hut to be dropped off so you can hike to the Luxmore Peak then on you way back down explore the Luxmore Caves before heading all the way down the mountain to Brod Bay and picked up by the water taxi and ferried back to Te Anau just in time for cocktail hour. All for what works out to be about 350USD. Hey, go for it ... especially if the day is as clear as we had.
