Nice boat, we took a trip to Moa Waho island. Lovely staff who were passionate about sharing knowledge of the area and giving us tips to make the most of the journey. Worth the reasonably pricey ticket to get to the island and make a special day of it ☑️

Our experience with these guys were amazing. From the water taxi, to the jeep ride up the mountain, to the scenic picnic which they provided for us?!! Charlie and Krystle were so incredibly friendly and made our experience that much better. Charlie, our guide, was also super informative; educating us about the history of Wanaka - flora and fauna. The views were also breathtaking. I highly recommend experiencing this. We were so, so impressed and the cost was definitely worth it! Ps. Super child friendly!!

Prior to our visit we were offered a choice of drinks to be had at the summit which we appreciated. Everything operated on time and with excellent welcomes and farewells. The water taxi was efficient and the 4 x 4 was extra special with amazing views and the summit drinks and nibbles were delightful. Excellent commentary throughout. A good value outing which we recommend you take.

We did a water taxi trip to Mou Waho island and it was incredible! Krystle was our skipper and guide through the tour and she expertly maneuvered the boat to get us to the island! We thoroughly enjoyed this off beat Wanaka experience and would highly recommend Wanaka Water Taxi to anyone visiting Wanaka! Make sure you also ask Krystle or any other skipper about the surrounding peaks and they would happily tell you stories about the region!

Fantastic afternoon boat tour to Mou Waho Island, good walk up to the lake on the island and we had a refreshing swim in it. Krystle was a friendly and informative host giving us some good history on Lake Wanaka and the islands. Awesome scenery and great value for money. Highly recommend

4x4 Explorer - best views - best guide :) We did the 4x4 Explorer last weekend. We were greeted by our guide Charlie, who was such a lovely guy and extremely knowledgeable about the station we visited, and the surrounding area. After a beautiful boat trip, we arrived at the stunning high country station, where only 4x4 Explorer had access. So we didn't see anyone else, which was so nice! The views were to die for - see the pics below. The picnic on the mountain was yummy; beautiful local wines, cheese platter, local fruit and some sweets. A highly recommended activity to see the best of the area from a stunning spot!

WOW! This trip and the hosts were amazing. So welcoming and keen to make sure the trip was memorable. The views were outstanding, the afternoon tea superb, and I would certainly go again (with the wine first😂).

Very nice trip to Mou Waho island. Highly recommended. Kyle has been very nice and explained us about the lake, it’s origins, and the islands in the Wanaka lake. After 45 minutes of sailing, we arrived to Moh Waho island. Once there, we climbed up to the top, and had nice 360 degrees view of the area and fantastic views of the lake. After taking some pictures, we went back to the boat, that took us back to Wanaka marina. We would recommended without any doubt

I had been wanting to go to Mou Waho Island on Lake Wanaka for many years and finally got the opportunity to go with Jason and the team from Wanaka water taxi. We had a fantastic day! Right from the start Krystle was super helpful and replied quickly to my enquiries via email. The day started out sunny and calm and our boat driver Jason was very knowledable and friendly and gave us a lot of information and stories about the local flora, fauna, geology and history. He is a long-time local and you could tell he was truly passionate about the area and we felt safe and well informed throughout the whole trip. Once on the island we had an hour and a half to explore. There was plenty of time to walk up the hill to Arethusa pool where we went swimming in the refreshing water, and then we continued up to one of the high points on the island where we had lunch and enjoyed the truly amazing views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains. The track was easy to follow and there was plenty of shade walking in the regenerating native forest. The island has been cleared of introduced pest species and we saw a number of weka, bellbirds and other native bird and insect species. We were also fortunate enough to see (and hold) a native gecko which Jason found and showed us. This trip is great for families, my 5 year old daughter was able to walk the whole way by herself and was thrilled to see the weka and gecko. The Wanaka Water Taxi Explorer was a fun filled 3 hour adventure that from the get go took advantage of the stunning views of Lake Wanaka. I advise to be there on time, although Kyle (the taxi guide) will wait to make sure you don’t miss out on any fun (he did that for me even though I was already in the boat...another story). Not a lot of parking near the marina as it is reserved for boat owners (especially during the busy summer months) so I advise to arrive well ahead of time to find off street parking. The ride is about an hour to Mou Waho Island with various stops on the way to show you the adventurer various things including the deepest point of Lake Wanaka. Lord of the Rings filming locations are also pointed out on the way! You will even enjoy the local history, the guide is very knowledgeable and will be able to answer any burning questions you might have. The wildlife is low key amazing where you can get up close to the weka (what I called KJ, Kiwi Jr). They are very inquisitive and love to mingle (food helps). Mou Waho Island is stunning. It is not for the unfit, it has steep hiking areas with a trail that should theoretically take 40 minutes. A++!

My family and I had the pleasure of a fantastic trip to Mou Waho island last week. We had a range of ages (2-77years) with a range of physical ability, and whilst the walk was a steep gradient up we all managed to reach the lake with enough time to enjoy the beauty. Brent our captain was knowledgeable and friendly, the weka even friendlier! As a local I will be recommending this trip to all our future visitors. Thanks Wanaka Water Taxis, we all had big smiles on our faces after such a great experience!!

did the 4x4 tour with charlie (and a boat ride from krystle & brent), it was an absolutely breathtaking experience. we had a bit of weather to deal with (fog, impacting potential views) so krystle worked to push back our start time accordingly. we eventually got on the boat and then the 4x4. we had a little one with us, and it was a bumpy but comfortable ride, and felt very safe all the way through. great background and stories about the area from charlie, and at the top we had amazing views and a great picnic. he made us feel very comfortable and it was very lighthearted and conversational, overall. genuinely a great experience that i would recommend for all everyone regardless of what kind of group you’re traveling with. great people and a great product/service.

We had a wonderful trip to Mou Waho with our two young boys, Krystle was a wonderful guide, very patient and fun with the kids. Great value and obviously wonderful scenery. Will definitely go again and thoroughly recommend 😊

The water taxi trip to Mou Wahu was wonderful. Lots of interesting information on the scenic boat ride there, a 25 minute uphill walk on the island, and the most amazing views of the lake within the lake. We also went for a swim in the island lake.

We just experienced the most beautiful part of the world at Wanaka! Thanks to Krystal and Mike (and the Station owner who allowed us to 4WD up his beautiful land) to experience the lake and then 4WD up to the best views of unspoilt mountains lakes and tracks! Thank you both for an experience of a life time. The NZ Pinot Noir A.k.A at the top of our trek was delightful as was the NZ local cheeses and bloody good homemade chutney! If you ever are able to travel to this beautiful part of the world this experience is a must.

While visiting my friend in Wanaka we took the water taxi with Crystal to Mou Waho Island where we had a picnic by the lake on the top. Some very cheeky Wekas tried to steal our lunch whilst we were enjoying the stunning view. Crystal was friendly, informative and new her stuff! This made our journey all the more enjoyable - highly recommend this service!

This a great way to feel the breath taking view of Wanaka. Being on a private land, the view is amazing. Sighting wild animals is a good experience for people who live the city life. Staff is friendly and very thoughtful, flexibly adjust touring time based on the local weather conditions. Picnicing on top of the mountain and sweeping views run into the eye. Amazing! Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the water taxi ride on the lake over to Mou Waho Island. It was a beautiful day and the island was a great getaway to stunning peaceful scenery and wildlife. Memorable trip for anyone visiting Wanaka!

The Water Taxi team helped us arrange an amazing birthday adventure for our daughter and her friends. Mou Waho is always an incredible place to visit, especially with kids. The birdlife is particularly special, and the curious weka were fun to watch. We will be back!

My partner and I cruised over lake Wanaka to the start of he Minaret burn track with Wanaka water taxi , we had an epic day out biking back to Wanaka, highly recommend for any adventurous fit people ! The cruise to the start of the track was spectacular , our skipper Brent gave us commentary on the local history along the way , couldn’t recommend this company more highly, 11/10 :) thanks guys !

Must do while in Wanaka! Great value! My friend and I went on a 3hr trip to Mou Waho Island. Brent told some great stories along the way (with stops) and then we had 1hr 40 mins on this beautiful preditor-free island to explore. There are several interpretration panels on the island, which provides good info. It was nice to be able to explore on your own - the island on an island and the cute friendly weka. Highly recommend this trip as a the best value option!

Very friendly ! speedy to arrive and took us out of her way exactly where we were staying at no extra cost! We hired bikes and cycled across the lake and got a taxi boat ride back - a really good way to avoid one directional cycle ride and meant we could get further round the lake ! Would recommend :)

I consider this a "must do". Speeding across Lake Wananka and driving up the side of of Mt. Burke, what a trip. A gourmet picnic on the mountain top, over looking Mt. Aspiring. Guides Krystle & Rob made a grest day even better. David, Cora & Sara.

Fabulous few hours visiting a fascinating island. Very knowledgeable boat 'captain' not only with regard to the trip but also the geological history of the area. Highly recommended.

Mou Waho island was a truly magical place and in such a pristine state The Buff Weka strolling around and the birdsong as we walked up to the lake was superb The beautiful views the snowy mountains, the blue sky, the calm lake and the wake of the boat as we glided along made an amazing scene That is a memory to be treasured Thank you
