Reviews of Bridge to Nowhere Lodge & Tours, Pipiriki Base

Thank you for the warm welcome to your campsite on day two of our journey on the Wanganui river. A big large, very user friendly campsite with the luxury of huge bbqs and a hot shower! Very much enjoyed after a couple of days in the river. The hosts were very helpful, providing us all the information we needed to prepare and ensure we had a good stay.

Called 2 days in advance, was lucky to book in for a day tour of jet boat to bridge to nowhere, with a 2 hour canoe back. Nice taster for the whanganui river crossing, wished the canoeing was slightly longer! Awesome experience. Highly recommended!

What a great day. Thank you for the awesome guided tour. Enjoyed the cuppa and chocolate chip biscuits too. Very interesting history. Only two couples that day so we could have a personalised talk.
P.
Sit back and relax as you jet boat up the Whanganui gorges. Followed by a walk through New Zealand history to the Bridge to Nowhere. You will be glad that you live in the twenty-first century. A walk back to the jet boat and then a return trip down the Wanganui River Pipiriki. Well worth the money. Thank you.

Had a wonderful experience, recommend this trip to anyone ,great tour guide who shared his amazing knowledge of the area.

Enjoyable boat up and paddle down of the river. The bridge to nowhere itself was pretty...the bloke running it (Joe) at times wasn't an effective communicator.
D.
Great experience. Thoroughly enjoyable with help of boat driver and his knowledge of the history.

Joe was amazing and the shower was hot and the fire warm. Couldn't have been happier! We will be back.

Well organised and great fun. Fast and furious up the river and a nice gentle walk to the bridge and a good if sad history lesson. Bring warm clothes as a jet boat at 30knots is pretty windy.

Great day out, good value for money. Really enjoyed it. Thoroughly recommended.

Thanks for a great stay at your Campsite, great to have clean and tidy, well equipped facilties and a hot shower in such remote place! And at a fantastic price!! Also great priced variety of beer and snacks at the well stocked bar only a short walk away up the hill to your awesome lodge, only a little bit jealous of your location!! Thanks again, Pete and Fi. Ps TCH recommended you guys 👍 pleased they did! Also the Atv luggage service was greatly appreciated 😁 cheers!

Great place to stay! We only booked this place through our canoe hire company because the doc camp spot across the river was fully booked, but we were extremely happy in the end and much preferred it. They have a lot of different formulas (campground, bunkhouse, room with or without food), but the added value and friendly owners prevail in all of them. Get a drink here by sunset at the bar and just enjoy!

What a cool place, great hosts, great food, comfortable accommodation, cheers for the rides up the river in your boats, Wayne you are a great driver with a wealth of knowledge, Joe same to you and thanks for all the other stuff u did for us. Water was lovely even if I was the only one of our group to test it. Thanks for the great food Racheal. Cheers guys

This is a must do trip.... And its taken over half my life of "meaning to" to actually get here.
Knowledgeable guide - an informative jet boat ride up and plenty of tales told at the bridge.

We stayed here for three nights. Rather than canoeing, we came here to hike. On our two full days we enjoyed two loop trails originating at the lodge. One trail was a national park trail, the other was more of a local plus farm trail. We enjoyed good hiking and views. People don't seem to come here to hike (canoeing is a big deal), which is a shame. The folks at the lodge were lovely, the from-scratch dinners were excellent.

Awesome tour! Very professional and relaxed.
Really appreciated the hot coffee and biskits provided after the jet boat ride.
Very knowledgeable guide with great experience on the river.
10/10 would go again tomorrow if u had the chance

Great guide-driver ( jet boat ) lots of fun up and back with heaps of info about old times and the history behind that bridge. I liked the 360 spins ,people in the back not so much .HA HA .
