Must Stop in Whangarei. If you local or passing through. Quick 20-30 min loop track will take you to the base of the Whangarei water falls. Not too steep walk. Cruising. Great lunch, picnic spot with public toilets, picnic benches etc.

A must stop in Whangarei! Carpark and public toilets, then checkout the waterfall from the viewing platform. Take a 5 minute stroll down to the bottom to get the full view of the waterfall. Plenty of picnic tables throughout to use. The walkway is mainly stairs, but it is an easy walk. Swimming is not recommended

A-MA-ZING! Easy walk to the fall, a few tables and space for a picnic, a path that transports you to a peaceful place enclosed by trees and butterflies. ⚠️ it is a swimmable place but be cautious and respect it’s magnitude. If you’re unsure, follow the locals - don’t adventure by yourself.

Whangarei falls is Ina Whangarei city. Your journey begins from the top of the falls. When you follow the tracks, you can view the waterfall from the bridge. This is a beautiful waterfall. If you are a fan of water falls then do no not miss this. Go after a solid rainfall and you will discover the roar of the waterfall.

Such easy access to a quite stunning waterfall. Good parking and well maintained track down to the base of the falls with a couple of good viewing platforms from the top. I was surprised to find these basically within the Whangarei city boundary.

This is a magnificent place ; all the way through the bush; the falls itself, and up the other side. Just so special. A humbling experience with my granddaughter, 8 , for her the first time. She was incredibly awe struck by its majesty.

A really nice waterfall, and it's not a long walk from the carpark (though it might be a bit steep for some). If you're in Whangarei or even just passing through, this is worth the effort to get to.

Good to know it’s dog friendly place. Tried sooooo hard to find out this place is dog allowed (on leash only). cuz DOC isn’t so clear and up to date.

It’s a nice waterfalls with a very safe walk path.. kids can easily walk with parents supervision.. there are lots of area for Instagram corner. It’s good for family with kids..

Has a very big parking area with toilets and plenty of tables and chairs around the area to enjoy picnics etc. There are multiple angles and view points to see waterfall from, all are spectacular. There is some stairs but nothing difficult to walk. Is such a great spot not far from town either IG📷_leon_04

Absolutely stunning waterfall.. only a short 5 min walk from the car park, and absolute magic. We drove 2.5 hours from Auckland just to see this wonder, and it was so worth it!

A beautiful waterfall that is easy to hike out to for anyone. It took less than 15 minutes to hike from the parking area to the base of the falls on well developed trails. There is a large park at the falls, and more trails to explore, picnic areas, restrooms, and plenty of parking. A great place to stop and take a short walk, relax, get some photos, and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Soo nice place to spend time i used to bored when i been outside on my day off i used to miss home but here I enjoyed too much so i will be there again

Beautiful place, environment was clean and well kept. Toilets accessible at the front by car park. When we visited, parking was full inside but we were able to find parking on the street. Gorgeous falls 😍 and also a good place to take pictures (we saw a wedding photoshoot happening).

Awesome spot to enjoy the magnificence of a waterfall. Good parking area, feels safe and various walking tracks to enjoy it's serenity. Highly recommended!

No cost totally free. Dog friendly on a leash of course. Gorgeous views and walking tracks. Take care walking down to the bottom, can be a little steep around areas for some. Refreshing so revitalising swimming up top or down the bottom. I'll be bringing a hand line with me next time so i can have a fish down the river a small walking distance down one of the walking tracks. I seen some trout last time i was here and i know their will be some Tuna around too (Eels) 🥰 Love it here.

Beautiful serene setting.. Bathrooms available, gorgeous walking spaces and swimming spots. Tranquility and peace at your fingertips when in this gorgeous setting. Healing space for sure. Definitely worth the visit or even spending the day at just to enjoy natures natural beauties..

Breathtaking. Lots of swimming holes here not just at the falls but there is a track roughly 2.5km round trip with lovely creeks, natural beauty to enjoy.

Lovely waterfall with easy access car park. The top of the falls and several viewing platforms are easily accessible for those with limited mobility. The walk down to the bottom of the falls is along a well maintained track, but this is not wheelchair accessible. Take a bit of extra time to explore the walk along the creek that the waterfall empties into, you won’t be disappointed. Go far enough along and there is a cool footbridge.

Nice break stop on our roadtrip. Really easy access and you can picnic with the fall view beside the carpark or walk the 10 mins down to the bottom (no swimming, many stairs to climb down.) Lovely little lush green area. Reccomend

This is a great waterfall to visit. It is really close in town and is very easy to access for all levels of mobility with many great vantage points. Well worth the short walk to the bottom of you are able.

Went here for a short stint before we drive back to Auckland and it was fun. 10 mins drive from Whangarei CBD. lots of parking. Toilets are clean. 5 mins down the falls. I would suggest to look at different angles to see the beauty of this falls.

Very lovely waterfall, we went on one of those really hot summers days and watched the waterfall from below and above. There was a group even frying up eggs on a gas cooker for their breakfast on the picnic table in front of the waterfall. This waterfall is also great for taking long exposures if you're interested in photography. I came back here a few years later and still love it!

Nice place to stop and take the kids to run off some energy. The views of the waterfall is beautiful.

I was put off at first when we arrived to a full parking lot. I'm so glad that went down to explore anyway. It was so beautiful at the falls, but the walk down along the river was even more stunning! There's a rope swing along the way that was a lot of fun.

Short walk, the waterfalls were beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful waterfall that not only allows you to see it from above but also from both sides and from the front. A walking track and bridge allows you to walk all the way around it. Absolutely awesome. Took lots of beautiful photos and certainly worth a visit with family and friends. Beautiful areas to have a picnic also.

I Loved it. I went here without any expectations. Beautiful falls with good picnic area and walking trail. Safe place to go, has rest room. You can't swim or dive here for health reasons and rocky nature. Great place for kids too.

Whangarei Falls is the best falls in NZ in terms of prettyness & accessibility. It’s the only falls that allows visitors to view or reach - top & bottom; 360 degrees around the Falls; & therefore the Falls is beautiful from different angle & level.

Such a beautiful tranquil place. Haven't been here since I was a kid and its still as beautiful as I remember. Love the new bridge thats been put in.

Easy walking path, it would take about 15 minutes to get to the base. It doesn't look swimmable but some kids were enjoying a splash near the top of the falls (in the water that pools near by the walkway). Pack a picnic, there's a table at the base of the falks. There are also several near the top. Easy parking with a lot of people helping keep things organised. Clean facilities, too.

One of the falls to visit for sure. Organised pathways to go with toddlers trolley. Well managed parks around it , You can do family picnic with river views.

Lovely track in the middle of Whangarei. It's nice to walk in the afternoon. Spending some times to get fresh air.. Recommend for you who love short walk with nice view..

Very nice and clear water. Carpark is just near top of the falls. There is bit of a walk to get to the bottom.

Visited today 26/12/21, came here with our boys ready for a dip only to find out swimming is not allowed as per signage closed to the waterfall area. As a safety precaution, that was a good advice.

Short walks around these 26m-high falls provide views of the water cascading over the edge of an old basalt lava flow. The falls can be reached on the Tikipunga bus (no service on Sundays), leaving from Rose St in the city.

What a beautiful spot! And a nice 1km walk through woodland to see these amazing falls.

New Zealand is just so beautiful. A site like this proves it again. Already walking to it and see it from the top, walking over it in the bridge and than following the track down to see it from down there and looking up, amazing! Really nice trees too with long roots. You can walk further if you like or walk back and have some of your own brought lunch. There are also a couple of toilets, always handy.

Beautiful waterfall in Whangarei. The entrance is very welcoming, toilets and parking are available. Open green area with tables and chairs. Enjoy the short walk from the parking down to the falls.

Amazing view from both the bottom and top of the waterfall! Walk is friendly for most and will not be regretted! Entrance straight from the carpark will take you to the top of the waterfall so no actually walk required, just about a 15-20min walk through a beautiful track to the bottom

Beautiful scenery and a variety of walks to do.

Been there twice now - would recommend as a stop if you're visiting Whangarei or driving through to locations up north. Paths not easy for pregnant women or older folks not in great health.

Pack a picnic lunch and drinks and relax to the beautfull sounds of the falls, go exploring beautiful spot, tidy toilets near too, enjoy....

The falls are okay, especially as they are very close to the carpark, visited after drier period, so not much water flowing down. But don't miss out the walk to the Reed Kauri Park, this was the highlight in my eyes, wasn't expecting this beautiful nature reserve so close to civilization. Enjoy!

This place is simply WONDERFUL. You can stay a few steps from the waterfall and, after going down to the lake, you have a magnificent view of the waterfall. In addition, you can go after the waterfall by a side path and also swim in the lake.

The entire grounds are amazing. Next time I come I'm gonna bring a picnic and enjoy the beauty all around. Edit: didn't bring a picnic but still a great breath of fresh air in the morning.

Good parking and toilet facilities. Very small walk to the base of the waterfalls, around 3 to 5 minutes. Plenty of spots either at the top or from the bridge to take photos.

We went after a rainy day expecting it to be... i don't know the word but "more" would have been better, in comparison to what the brochure advertised. But over all it was a good hike and lovely scenary. By the way i think the waterfall looks better from above.

I visited this spot during my Northland trip. I must say, the falls has a very easy access and the view is breathtaking. Its a very short walk down to the falls from above and has scenic views at two places from the top. Would highly recommend visiting this place! Cheers

The falls says it all..even in this summer with little rain, its still going on. It will be worth the wait in rainy winter. Lovely calming walk through the big trees to the base of the falls

Awesome place with a camping site! The place itself is very clean; the toilets, not so much. The small path takes you next to the falls, it's very easy to complete.

We brought some lunch and randomly decided to drive to the Falls and sit under a tree 🌳 to eat our lunch by the water💧 we met some campers 🏕 and their cute dogs and met some locals, it's a privilege to live in Whangarei where you have so many choices if beaches ⛱ and pockets of fresh watering holes, the falls are great ifu want to take walks through the bush & end up at the bottom of the waterfall to take a swim 🏊‍♂️ on hot sunny 🌞 day!.

A must do in the Whangarei area. Lovely falls with different viewpoints from the top. You can also walk down to the bottom and go for a swim. Carpark is a bit small. Public toilets just next to the front gate.

Great short walk on a dizzmal showery day. Lunch eaten on the picnic table then walked to the bottom of the falls to be amongst the mist, returned via loop walk to the carpark and rest rooms before continuing our road trip. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Wonderful waterfall, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Great loop track with plenty of viewpoints along the way, through the forest and over bridges. Takes about 30 minutes. Wear waterproofs and good shoes as can be wet and slippery!

Cute circle hike around the falls. Beautiful for pics and lunch. We took a detour off the main track and got a bit lost. It was about 1.5 hours of hiking off track before we found our way back to the carpark.

Great spot for a walk. It's pretty close to the city centre and quite accessible to everyone.

Good short walk under the trees. Car park with clean toilet is a bonus. Several outlooks around the falls to get good photographs.

Magestic stop off from a boring drive, parking is fine. Water still flowing even in drought conditions. Get out and stretch those legs! It’s a 30 minute loop. Locals were swimming in the water but it was really cold to me. Photos as of feb 2020.

Huge amazing waterfall! Located close to the town which is just a short 5 mins drive away. The quick brisk walkway loops around the waterfall and gives a good view of the waterfall. Water quality warning signs for no swimming, but still able to see eels in the clear water. Ample parking for those driving to visit, or just stopping to use the public restrooms.

Well maintained foot paths and bridges that can't help being damn and a little muddy at times after weeks of rain. Beautiful area and really short walk down to the base of the falls. Plenty of grass before the walk down to have picnics.

Well worth the stop when travelling in Northland or even if you are a local that hasn't visited the Falls The track continues on to A H Reed Waterfall then if you cross the road it will continue to Parahaki then onto the the loop around the town basin Plenty of toilets along the way and water fountains dotted around

Beautiful walkway, down to the falls. Quite steep but well worth it when you're down at the bottom, following the down flow of the water. Plenty of space for picnics. There is a sign warning against swimming as there is a lot of bird life. Great atmosphere though.

At Whangarei Falls, the Hātea River drops 26 metres (85 ft) over a basalt lava flow. There are walkways around the falls and along the river. The falls were originally known as Otuihau, and have been a picnic spot since at least the 1890s. In the 1920s, the land was bought by Archibald Clapham (of Clapham's Clocks) to prevent commercial exploitation of the falls. The Whangarei Businessmen's Association raised funds in 1946 to buy the land on behalf of the citizens of the town.[3]

Nice easy walk down to the falls where you can take a swim if you dare. The water was cold when we where there. There's a number if viewing points along the way. Take your time and maybe a picnic to have down by the water.

Beautiful walk under the canopy of the trees and pungas to the falls. Can either take steps or zig zag track, making it easyish for any age or fitness level. Only 500m walk on zig zag from base to flat area at top near car park.

Lovely spot to walk around and take in the sites. Plenty of photo opportunities with beautiful waterfalls and bush area. Even a chance to take a dip in the clear waters.

Easy access from town, not too crowded. We did the long walk down to the Kauri forest. Second time we've been here.

I know that there are a lot of waterfalls in New Zealand, but if you go north from Auckland, it's a great picnic spot at the falls. Just take a look at the photo and feel this fascinating atmosphere around.

Always a favorite. Do not forget the river walk downstream.

Such an incredible spot! It's a quick walk down the stairs to the exquisite beauty of the fall. You can swim but it's advisable to stay away from the falls and be careful when they are strong. In Summer you'd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful swimming hole but make sure to read the signs about where it's advisable. The stairs are quite big and elderly people might struggle (although there is a stable handrail most of the way) but my toddler didn't have any issues getting down - although had to be carried up. It get's quite busy so is usually better earlier in the day and be sure to take some water with you. There are ducks up at the top by the car park so take some bread and the kids can feed them! The car park is usually quite busy but I've never failed to find parking as it's well managed but the earlier you go the better.

Absolutely beautiful! If you're a tourist, id highly suggest you visit. Theres a spot for overnight campers aswell which i thought was brilliant! Th walkway is approximately 30-35 minutes & well worth it. Takes you around in a loop with gorgeous nature scenery.

Relatively easy walk. Car park is manned by friendly volunteers who are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

Great waterfall free admission. Wish to have more places to sit down the fall. The road outside is another shxt job by nzta or Fulton hogan or whoever did the re-sealing work. Lots of stone chips everywhere which looks like a third world country road. Actually more NZ roads look like this. Crapy roads everywhere.

Not one of the most picturesque or private waterfalls but worth a quick stop if you're passing. I wouldn't go too far out of my way to see this one. Head to Rainbow Falls instead.

It is a beautiful waterfall, you can also do a lovely walk through the bush to the waterfall.

Great nature walks out to the kauri tree boardwalks. Swim hole on the way, swing was damaged last time I visited. 40 minute round hike. Careful of leaving valuables in your car up here, have had friends who've had stuff stolen and people have sat on my motorbike and fiddled with the controls before too. Gorgeous on a shaded summer day, but can get quite popular. Still a mystery to this day whether the signs on the posts were eels or arrows. Let me know if you find out!

It's a beautiful waterfall! The sound of the water fall is like a music in the garden! Simply awesome!

The falls are amazing to look at and you dont even have to walk far from the car park. There is even a nice Picknick area at the bottom. But its a little to „touristy“ for me nonetheless its definitely worth a visit.

If you are travelling to North of the North island (towards Cape Reinga) this is a one should be in your visit list. Located in Whangarei Scenic Reserve very close to city. Parking is ok but better not to keep any valuables in side your vehicle. We feel the security is not good.

There are staff with marked jackets reading Ambassador and all have name tags. They help you with parking and show you around! Fantastic!

Picturesque spot, and easy to get to. Viewing the falls is doable by all, even if wheelchair accessibility is required. Recommend paying a visit if you've got some free time in Whangarei.

A nice waterfall with several viewing and photo points. The walk down is a bit run down and can be a bit slippery during wet weather. Though it's highly recommended to stick to the footpath, you can go behind the fall by walking through the stones around the lake at the bottom of the fall. Not sure whether it's safe to swim in the lake though. There's a family of duck that live on the lake.

Beautiful setting, easy parking and view from top however walk to the bottom is bit long and you need to be prepared for hike up though there is track to get there

First time visiting, driving through, definitely a must see waterfall. Had a quick stop, so didn't go down to the bottom, but viewpoints were good from the top.

Very nice location with great scenery theres an 1 hour walk to the closest loop we visited it during the 2 days it was raining however this just added to the trip. The water is swimmable but advised against due to the deepness of the pool and also due to an incident in recent months. Lots of parking and also 5 minute walk from parking, has seating for family picnics. #thisisfaroq

First time to see the famous falls in Whangarei! its a 3 hour drive from Auckland but every view along the way is amazing. When we reached in Whangarei Falls, its so nice and beautiful. Will definetely come back see you soon!!!

It’s really amazing place to visit and go for a good 30 mins walk. There are really good spots to do picnic as well. Also, there are plenty of toilet facilities near the car parking area.

A beautiful place to loose yourself in the tranquil sounds of the waterfalls and a beautiful place to park up and have a pick nik with friends and family or enjoy a small loop walk under the canopy of natural Bush of native trees. I highly recommend this beautiful picturesque location loads of selfie opportunities and a great place to make memories..

Wonderful waterfall with a little hiking loop. Parking toilets and 1 night free for self contained camper van.

Great walk, from top looking down, to the bottom looking up at the beautiful waterfalls. Solid sets of steps and gentle slopes at you head down to the falls level. Brilliant commeration of native trees planted for ChCh mosque slayings on the way. Then uphill slopes back to car park. Not suitable for wheel chairs. I did see local personnel walking groups along the way. Would be excellent if one wanted to learn about our native trees & bushes, not to mention a little history of the area. And it's all for free!! 😄

Whangarei falls are great place to be if you are traveling North. Nice place to even have a quick jump into the water and cool yourself. Great place to capture nice pictures too. I saw a few guys diving from top of the falls to right down into the water and man it was bloody scary, It was scary for me to even look down from that height and hats off to those guys who were diving from that height.

It's a waterfall with a good (small) walk to the base and back up. Fun way to spend an hour or so.

What a spectacular waterfall. Set amongst native bush, the waterfall drops over 26 meters. There is picnic areas, toilets plus well set out bush walks.

You can get to the Falls via car park at the top of the Falls or do a walk via the A Read Memorial Park

This place is a gem not as hidden as we think when you talk about a waterfall. It’s right there close to the motorway. Even if you are not going to Whangarei you can stop by to this beautiful place and appreciate the majestic falls. Beautiful spot for a little walk and nature appreciation.

Amazing! Well laid out, with good, clean toilets. The whole attraction is well maintained & looked well cared for. There were local guides offering sunscreen & mozzie repellent. The view at the top of the falls is accessible to everyone, but I wouldn't go to the bottom if you were unable to cope with steep slopes & steps. Well worth it if you are.

Simply beautiful, tranquil and quite spiritual.

After all the recent rain this waterfall was Very Impressive. It's surrounded in a lovely park with trees planted to commemorate the Christchurch Mosque victims. The loop track to the bottom of the waterfall is well thought out for amazing waterfall views

A bit small but nice place to chill out

Stunning place lots of people but not crowded due to all the space had a great family picnic here. Just ne aware some people let their dogs run off the leash not always a great idea around little kids

Very impressed first time we had been there

Low effort and high reward - there are multiple viewpoints for this waterfall. 2 on top and 2 down below. The area is surrounded by a small loop track which lets you walk towards these points. Takes about 5-10 minutes to walk. It's up to you how much time you want to take for enjoying the waterfall 😉

Quite nice. Was considering pumping a phat manu off the top but the mrs cracked the whip. Managed to find a sharp stick lying around, was gonna catch us some dinner. Thought trout or eel would be on the menu but nothing. Don't believe the other reviews, it's all lies. 7/5 would come again, honestly just glad didn't have to walk far to see the falls.

Peaceful and tranquil. Alot of scattered shady trees and obviously cold running water. Picnic tables and toilets.

Beautiful place within in the whangarei city limits, it has a beautiful open park and a two walking loops which take you right to the bottom of the park, makes you feel like you are in the middle of a jungle. Must visit place if you are in Whangarei.

Very cool place. The walk to the waterfall is pleasant - you walk on paved walkways for half followed by a small walk in the forest. Beautiful scenery and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The waterfall is huge and, one a lovely day, looks fabulous.

The Whangarei Falls are beautiful and very impressive to see. There's a great parking place and also public toilets for everyone to use. The walking path towards the falls is very impressive and also a great hike. This is really a great place to stay for a while and wandering around or swim. There also some extra walking tracks to choose from. I really recommend this place to visit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

We were just passing by and thought we would stop in. The parking volunteers were so friendly especially John at the tent (thanks for the treat John). The falls are well looked after and fenced and safe for all ages. Beautiful spot where the water runs down to the falls to see the ducks and sit on the beautiful lawn.

Just stunning. Been there twice and absolutely loved both times. Such an amazing waterfall with nice walk to the bottom of the fall which is well with and must do. The views from top and bottom both are great and picturesque. If you in the neighborhood, do not miss this place. Must go

Haven't seen this since I was a kid. Much bigger than I remember. One of the few northern sites you can take dogs. Not complaining, gotta protect the kiwi

Easy access to the falls. We had parked nearby and took the short stroll. You would not expect to see a beautiful waterfall located within a neighbourhood! We went there just before lunch during the December holidays and while there were a few groups out, the place remained peaceful.

One of the highlights of my stay in Whangarei was my visit to the falls with a couple of locals I met downtown. They told me that someone jumps off every now and again. That blew me away after seeing it up close. My hat goes off to those blokes. I recommend to anyone visiting Whangarei and would love to return someday.

We have visited this waterfall twice. We came from Auckland to see this waterfall by 2 hours drive and it is worthy. To have picnics at the bottom and watch the view were amazing. It is almost at the city centre of Whangarei. We would like to visit again next years.

The Whangarei Falls are very accessable, good parking with public toilets,and only a short walk down the well maintained track to get to the bottom of the falls for a beautiful view. Also from there you can go for a lovely bush walk along the river.

Great spot for joining Nature.. Walk, climb, hike, rest, have a coffee, look at the birds and trees. Perfect for a relaxing forenoon or afternoon. BYO wine.

Beautiful spot to have a picnic, a swim if your keen or just to explore. brand new barbeque tables to lunch at and the toilet facility is great for a public place. clean, not smelly, and there is enough for there not be cues as busy times of the day. The walk is short and sweet and enjoyable for all ages.

A nice place to relax and watch the breathtaking falls. Do not miss the loop trail which leads you on down to the base. There you can also swim, so do not forget your bathing suit. This is also an excelellent place to have a picnic. The loop trail is on one side without stairs, so you can push also a baby buggy down.

East to access down about 60 steps, lovely views from several viewing points, then not too steep zigzag ramp return path. Interestingly the hexagonal volcanic basalt columns (lava quickly cooled millions of years ago) to the immediate right of the falls are not mentioned anywhere in the displays. They are not as obvious as at the Giants Causeway in Northern Island of course, but pretty impressive if you like that sort of thing

Very accessible sight to visit a water fall that is located right in the middle of the town.

A nice little walk down will lead to you to a wonderful waterfall. The track is safe to walk. Volunteers on site to direct you to the car parks. A good place to visit when the sun is shining. Would not recommend swimming here.

Great lunch spot! The waterfalls are a 5 min walk from a parking lot with flushing toilets and there are plenty of trees to enjoy a picnic. Even some benches too! The whole loop is about 1km and the portion of the loop away from the falls has switch backs if stairs are a challenge.

Nice waterfalls in the north! Walking trails surround the waterfalls from the top of the waterfalls till the bottom. Ample parking space is available. Some ice cream and cafes are there in parking spot. Photography points are there at the bottom of the waterfall. Also, picnic can be arranged at the bottom of the waterfall. Height if the waterfall is pretty good. Swimming us not allowed here.

Not having read up before we arrived, I was only expecting a small waterfall. How wrong was I? There is a lovely walk through woods around the falls & a small picnic area at the bottom, although a sign at the top recommends not swimming due to excessive 'foecal contamination'. Well maintained free parking, picnic & toilet area. Plus freedom camping spaces.

Very nice waterfall. At the parking, there is a nice little park to have your lunch/picknick. Unfortunately down at the bottom there was a lot rubbish/plastic. They should clean and patrol more often down there!

Busy time of the year but the staff that were on at the gate and parking areas made this easy and a pleasure to visit with helpers to show you where the best points if the falls were. Locals were swimming in upper fall and a most pleasant view. Quite impressive if your going past

Amazing waterfall right next to the main SH1 ! You can view them right there at the car park, or you can take a short 10 min walk down to the waters edge for an even better view. Beautiful Forrest walk , nice easy path to follow. Perfect little break if you're passing by.

Budget Holiiday Park situated next door to Whangarei water falls.Tidy and clean communal kitchen, showers and toilet tidy and clean motel like rooms with kitchenette. Helpful staff. Areas for caravans, RV's and set up for tents. Pool and Spa, not open when we stayed. Countdown 5 minutes away, dairy, takeaway and laundromat . Handy place.

Worth the trip up from Hamilton. Really enjoyed the fact it wasn't overcrowded as well. The waterfall is beautiful and the scenery surround is amazing. There is a bridge above the waterfall which is a must if you visit.

Beautiful first time I have been here you can literally go onto the rocks and fall off the edge at certain parts so if you have kids hold onto them. There are railings but you can inn over. Two or 3 lookout points.. Lovely for photos. Toilets on site too. Not wheelchair friendly

Beautiful waterfall, you can view the waterfall both sides of the platform. You also walk down to the base, easy walk. The car park here can accommodate abt 15 cars, toilet facility is available. Be mind full of the water, there was ppl drown here.

Great place that could do with more parking as it was a tad hectic when we tried to find one. The falls itself is stunning, also you're reminded with pollution signs that it's unsafe to swim or touch because of contamination and pollution. Thus reminding ourselves to take care of our earth.

Absolutely Stunning views. Whagarei falls are totally gorgeous. It’s a small little walk to get down to the bottom of the falls but totally worth it. The falls look amazing especially in a bright sunny day. The colours are marvellous. There a a few wooden picnic tables at the bottom if you want to grab a bite while enjoying the splendid views. Can get a bit slippery in rains. Kids would also love it but they need to be careful here.

Just a natural beauty, and located so close to town. The scenic walk was lovely. Could hear tui in the native bush. The falls are awesome and can be viewed from many vantage points.

Pretty impressive sight right on the edge of town. Nice little platform, park, bathrooms, and freedom camping. Only wish there was swimming! Would love to take the y'all that starts here and goes all the way to the ocean.

Beautiful location. I do find it quite concerning that a footbridge just ahead of the falls has no handrails. Supervise your children closely.

Amazing track; the boardwalk was so well done and nice to see. The kauri trees are beautiful! My only request would be an identified track for those with dogs and those without. Having a dog I would love to have the whole thing dog friendly; but understandably there are irresponsible dog owners and we need to preserve parts of the walk as well.

A real surprise in the middle of the city. A lovely place to visit, they even had assisted parking to ensure you weren't going around in circles looking for a park space. The falls were beautiful and the walkway is well presented and easy. Can't wait to return to do the full loop.

I loved how easily accessible this waterfall was. There is several different vantage points to view the waterfall from, some of which are wheelchair accessible. The volunteers helping people park safely was a nice touch.

Beautiful park near incredible falls. Easy to stop in for a 30 minute or so visit to walk down to the base of the falls (well worth it - the view/perspective is much better), or take a longer hike through the trail in the park.

We just dropped in but got better impression than what we expected. If your itinerary allows to stop by it would be good idea. However it may depend to the weather. The weather when we visited was so good and we could refresh with fresh air there.

V truly had a great time walking down the green bushes nd bridge of d track and getting amazing view of d waterfall. Best place to go in group to njoy d day out.

Alas we didn't have time to explore more but a 10min detour to check this waterfall out and a couple of happy-snaps and leg stretches was worthwhile. They also had a coffee van there.

Probably one of the best water fall in Northland of New Zealand. The best time to visit the place is during November to December as the winter is over and there is plenty of water flowing through it. The view is breath taking and has couple of walks around the fall and picnic area. Great place for families with kids or big group.

A wonderful attraction for Whangarei. The circular route pathway from the top of the falls right down to the picnic area adjacent to the pool at the bottom is a pleasant walk. The gradient is zig zagged so no part is too steep. We are both age 70+ and average walkers and finished the loop easily inside an hour and fifteen minutes stopping at the bottom for photos. After crossing the ravine via the footbridge thereare quite a few staircases to climb to the park at the top on the other side so you could go back the way you came down. The loop returns to the carpark.

Nice Falls, easy to walk. You can park nearby, hence if you just drive along, it takes no time to visit the falls. Furthermore, you can camp here, if you are self-contained.

The Whangarei Falls is a very nice place to go to for any occasion, whether that be for an adventure or just for a nice break away from life’s stresses. The grounds and resources are always maintained and taken care of and litter is rare to be spotted. The beautiful scenic views really do create the heart of Whangarei. “Love it here!”.

Not a bad waterfall, about a 10m drop..?

Very nice reserve. Waterfall is located on a short 30 minute loop track. Multiple viewing points along the way.

From out of nowhere I find this stunning falls. I expected nothing and received breathtaking views. Lovely reserve setting shop you can just rest and see most nature at her best.

Save the 45 min hike if you have a drone. View from the lower point is obscured. To really enjoy it, you need to hike 1.5hrs to the top. Soak in the waters and enjoy the view.

Lovely falls made good accessible from both top as bottom. I assume that during the season it can be rather busy. It is only a short detour from highway one so when you are passing by anyway it is worth the stop

There water fall loop walk way is a nice walk. I with my wife & our 4 yo could finish it in half hour, with some time spent at the bottom, in front of the fall.

Loved the place more than expected. The water fall, the small streams an rivers, the putuputi (flowers) in the grass went for ages, like a white blanket of flowers...😍 the random bridges. Fantastic...

Always worth a visit when ever we go this far north. Great for just a leg stretch down the waterfall loop or a larger walk to other parts of the park. Free and toilets have been upgraded.

Beautiful waterfalls, caraprk speed bumps are a bit extreme/steep and nice a nice given freedom campers but fine other than that.

The walk trail is lovely and breath taking along with the waterfall. Excellent view of water fall from both sides, top and bottom. Great place for photography at the bottom.

Falls are pretty, and it's a nice walk down to them. The volunteers at the car park are fantastic and their work is very much appreciated, as in the past there were issues with break-ins

BEAUTIFUL PLACE..!! VERY SERENE! Highly recommend doing the Elizabeth Loop Track walk to get to the falls rather then parking by it as there is much flora & fauna to see on the way and it's an easy walk.
