J.I've called them many times asking what is probably very stupid questions about my dog and they're always very nice +informative. My dog also stayed here over night after a surgery and she was very well looked after and they were very nice about me ringing them in the middle of the night for an update.
I'm an over the top mother of a very spoilt purse dog, so if they can handle us both, they are basically angels that this world does not deserve
L.They were so polite and friendly on the phone after having to call them about my dog who couldn't stop pooping. They gave advice on what to do and when I should get in the car and hurry over to them. I felt listened to and luckily their advice worked so it saved us a trip.
A.I called in advance and after being told to bring my dog down ASAP we were greeted immediately by a kind, attentive vet who had medication prepared and ready to go. Thank you for treating my pup so quickly and carefully and providing great reassurance and home care instructions.

It was 4am and he’d been badly banged up. You cared for him with kindness and compassion until he could be transferred to our own vet.

S.Friendly service and only had to wait 10 mins. The vet was very thorough and with medication Doc ( my dog ) was back to normal within week. Thanks heaps team ☺️
D.I didn't love this place, only because this is where my best friend, guardian, companion, love of my life for 17 years "had to cross the rainbow bridge". It was my first week in respite, transferred from PN hospital to be closer to my son and Chester who was being cared for in Wellington. So it was a "no brainier" moving to Wellington, which will now be my home.
It was very hard, first week here, I got taxi to vet late evening , with 2 broken legs, knee etc. Not an easy task, but I know my Chester would have climbed "mountains" and do the same for me. He was so sick but managed to lift his head on the examination table and lick and kiss me for the last time. We prayed for a miracle but wasn't to be. Later that evening the very kind vet rang and as he had gone down so fast ,renal failure,it was time for his next journey. Because of my injuries,a second trip to the vet for me wasn't possible, he was semi- concious and the vet held the phone to him and I was able to tell him how much I loved him,and thanked him for being the best, and it was okay to cross the rainbow bridge, and that he would be okay and not to worry about me. The lady vet was so comforting,and I managed to get to vet clinic next day to see him before he was meant to be cremated.
That had been the plan but a miscommunication from vet receptionist meant that my "CHESTER" was still at the vet a week later. I was upset over this, I had paid all fees at the time, which included scans, blood tests etc and thought it included his cremation as understandably ran into 3 figures and a lot on a pension but not unjustified. I was obviously upset at the time of payment and did not look at receipt. I rang a week later to find out when his ashes would be back, we had discussed what cremation option at the consult. I was not happy to find that my precious boy had been in their freezer all that time, and nobody had rung me and followed things up.
I got a friend to collect Chester and they kindly offered to bury Chester at their place,where I can visit him. He has sand from the beach and a special tree planted by him.
I felt like I had let him down, as I was gonna scatter his ashes at the beach/harbour where he loved to swim. But I don't hold a grudge with the vet as she was so nice, feel reception could have handled it better, but it was a genuine mistake. Chester had already left his body to be with the "angels".
If they hadn't.been open at the time,.it would have been so much worse. It was a long weekend, not an excuse thou. They did not know me or Chester, like our regular vets who were in Taupo/Tauranga and knew his history and our bond.
N.Never an easy time saying goodbye to your furbabies. It helps knowing that the staff on board are very lovely, very supportive and allow your family the time to say goodbye.
L.I’ve been lucky enough to not have to use this place yet, but whenever I call in a frenzy in the middle of the night, they answer straight away, they give me really great advice and reassurance and actually help to deal with the situation at home, some may say it’s expensive and it is, but that’s completely reasonable to cover costs especially when they’re helping people save money by helping over the phone! This place obviously really does care about animals and I’m really grateful I have somewhere to call when I’m panicking about my animals! Also very empathetic with how worried the owners are at the time, I’ve definitely been annoying and unable to answer properly from the stress of the situation and they’ve been really understanding! Thank you for helping me help my babies!!

They are always helpful, caring, listen, and give insightful information / advice on what steps to take. Very reasonable costs as well. Am truly grateful for their wonderful services.
M.When the panic sets in because your vet is fully booked and your pet needs urgent attention. This is the perfect solution. Helpful and very friendly staff. What a wonderful experience. Our cat was well cared for and is on the mend. They took the time to clearly explain what was happening and how we should continue treatment. All this and very reasonable prices.
D.Very quick, very honest, able to get to them any time. Respectful polite and genuine staff. Major challenge with the after hours consult fee - but if you're there it's only for an emergency!

C.Was quite expensive for consult but with local vets closed didnt have a choice for my cat with sore leg. Meds were reasonable price. Only thing found interesting was you dont go into consult|assessment with animal but info given was very informative and thorough. Would recommend.
M.I took my Westie in on a Saturday who wouldn’t walk. It turned out he had inflamed skin between his toes. He was given an anti inflammatory injection and left a much happier boy. The staff were kind, professional and I was very pleased with the level of care shown to my dog and myself.
C.We were pretty desperate to get Sam (Greyhound) seen by a vet. We were so grateful this service was available after hours. They did a great job at sorting out his wound and really helped reassure us as well!

We spoke to a nice and patient lady twice on the phone then travelled down with our cat Dusty. I am so glad we did - they were patient, kind and reassuring.
The receptionist was great, the vet and his assistant caring and professional. Dusty was seen, and treated, our questions answered, and we felt safe and reassured at all times.
I know for many people, opinions will be dictated by their own worry or stress at their pet's condition. I can only say we got good treatment. NO it's not cheap but they are THERE and they are OPEN and as a result our Dusty is already doing a lot better.

J.Although I visited late at night under miserable circumstances, they gave my baby the best medicine for her last days/weeks left with us. They were very sympathetic and loving towards my 9 year old cat, I'm so glad we went even if we did receive bad news.
T.Understanding of owners concerns and emotions in tense emergency situations. If busy there can be a wait to be seen which is hard on owners and pets alike. They are thorough in their assessments and explain what they are doing and why. They provide options for care and clearly love the animals they are called on to treat.
S.I should have done this review ages ago, but in a way it gets better as time goes on. My dog was rushed in with all the signs of a stroke at 8 years old, a real mystery, Both vets involved were brilliant, one admitting him and another taking him over at night time. We could have given up on him but were advised to wait a day or two, and although it meant having to feed him by syringe and holding him up when he needed to go outside, he progressed quickly and amazed everyone. He has turned ten today, and apart from a little weakness in his front paw, you would not know he had been so badly affected. These after hours vets are wonderful people. I even had a call after he was handed back to our regular vet to follow up on how he was going. She (The A/H vet, was genuinely concerned and interested.Thank you sincerely.
P.I struggled to give 3 different medications to my cat. I didn't want her to get stressed so I went to the after hours for their help. The lovely lady who was on duty those nights 3rd week of July was very kind and so helpful. Sorry I didn't get your name but I really want to thank you so much for your kind heart and your help in giving my cats her meds. God bless you 🙂🐹🐻😸
A.I've had two good experiences with the clinic. One with two ducks I found that had been hit by a car approx 14 years ago and the other was just yesterday to end my cats struggle. They have been very kind and understanding in both instances and I've never found the service to be anything less than that which you would expect from any other medical professional.

T.Great support from the overnight team in an otherwise stressful time. Well located for speedy access just off the Hutt road at the bottom of the Ngauranga Gorge, but i would have had trouble finding it if not for the clear instructions given by the nurse when I called to say I was bringing our cat in. The vet was lovely, diagnosing and treating the patient very quickly and efficiently, and also showing him some love. He was the least stressed I've ever seen him at the vet!
