T.My Son had his full License test today and passed and I think that was due to Driving Instructor Anthony B👌. I sat in back seat and observed. It was an enjoyable experience because my Son is a competent driver and the Driving Instructor noted that. Instructor was excellent. He clearly stated instructions about & through out what was expected during the course of test, patient and made him feel at ease. The whole process was excellent to be apart of. Highly recommend Anthony B at VTNZ Frankton.

B.First time user. Recommended by my mechanic mates. Was there for a total of 1.5 - 2 hours. Worth the wait to make sure my car was safe to drive and secondly they don't have a motive to charge you for something that doesn't need to be fixed.

G.Great service through and through. Covid has been a hindrance and abiding to rules they have certainly exceed expectations wlth keeping public safe in that manner. Two thumbs up vtnz.
A.I took my restricted test here expecting the worst, considering all the negative press this place gets. Instructor I got was supportive and encouraging, the experience was great. This doesn't invalidate what others have said about other instructors but I just felt that the experience was completely different to what the reviews lead me to believe. It ultimately depends on the instructor you get
K.Very busy on Saturday took an hour to get to the service desk.

J.Apart from 2 hour wait, which is understandable as it was Xmas week, overall not bad at all.
p.You don't need to worry about them not passing something because they don't do repairs.

w.Staff mostly friendly and helpful, but the wait period this particular day was horrendous. Arrived around 11am and two hours later, finally got to the front of the queue.
All that time wasted for just a quick recheck of lightbulbs which had blown (but they couldn't fix on first visit).
Their website says they can do most bulbs but staff don't tell you till after they've taken your money and gone through the process).
I had mentioned on first visit before they'd even started, that there were two bulbs out. Surely by now, they know which vehicles they can/can't replace bulbs on, before they take your money? Then you can go elsewhere to get fixed before getting WOF check.
They used to get through queues much quicker some years ago, so maybe less staff to do the work now?
Here's an idea, they could have someone come and ask customers in the queue what they're here for, so rechecks could be done quicker in a separate line.
Less time waiting for others too as those vehicles are no longer sitting in the general queue for long periods.
Y.Used a couple of times for a WOF, not sure why in hindsight, maybe the big orange made it seem more legitimate?
The main issue is the long wait times (60-90 mins) even when I was the first or second car at the start of the day. Priced well above other WOF providers. I have since gone elsewhere for my WOF

S.Awesome service even though they were super busy and close at 1pm on Saturday. If in need of a warrant check on Saturday, I recommend arriving g before 11am to ensure you get a place before cut off time :)
K.Kim @te rapa is the best person in this otherwise draconian industry totally avoid frankton to many b.s politics internally that flow onto customer service.

S.Had my restricted driving test here, the counter person who spoke to me was very nice and friendly. The testing officer Laurence was very straightforward and professional, made the whole experience quite easy. I actually booked here because other places werent available and was a bit wary and nervous because of the bad reviews to be honest. However my experience was very good.
T.Busy as always on a Saturday. Good service as expected, and good to see you don't have to go to the back of the queue if a minor recheck is required.
J.Excellent Instructor L. Lawrence. Manitained utmost professionalism. Try to keep Professionals like him as I have had some bitter experience from a rude instructor in the past.
B.Staff are helpful and hardworking, but I believe the set up is very flawed. Went for a WoF and had the expectation of a long wait (this is a known reputation for VTNZ). However they really need a separate desk for WoF and CoF, operating all the time.
All I needed to do was pay for the WoF and give them my plate #, but the line for this is also the line for general enquiries. This is ridiculous considering you have no choice but to leave your vehicle unattended for some arbitrary period of time whilst waiting in line in reception. I waited a total of 1 hour in line to pay, broken up by anxiously asking the person behind me if I could return to my spot after checking/moving my vehicle (which he was not happy about). I had to do this 3 times before I actually made it to the desk to pay - which was then completed in less that 3 minutes.
Please give the option to either register your car and pay at a separate desk, or even through an online portal (like an online check in). I was there from 8:30am to 12:00pm, and I dont mind waiting in my car and moving it etc. , but the having to go inside and wait in another line, back and forth was one of the most anxiety inducing experiences I've ever had. If you suffer from severe anxiety, paranoia or social fear - do not go here unless they sort something out in the future!
R.They manage to do 3 to 4 cars an hour on a Saturday so keep this in mind. I find VTNZ realistic while fulfilling their role of helping to keep our roads safe.

a.Had a WOF done here, a big thanks to the staff who were on duty today the mechanics and the office staff.
Very professional, friendly and helpful ( yes its a busy place and yes you have to wait a while.) but it's like that most places these days, so allow yourself plenty of time , take a book, or better yet, get there early if you can
m.I had my full license driving test today at 10.15am. The officer named Ash was an absolute delight as an instructor. The way he gave me instructions were superb, on time and very clear to understand, as I was new to this road.
Also wanna add, I did my restricted test here as well. Cannot remember the name but the instructor was very nice, he was a old looking man with specks.
Finally, happy with my pass.

D.We travelled all the way to Hamilton to get my grandson his restricted. Was a very busy place. The license queue was long and we weren't sure of the set up but helpful locals answered my questions and we relaxed in the waiting area until he was called then I stayed there till he was back. Kept myself amused with watching a utube channel I follow as the test takes awhile. So I recommend a smart phone or book with you while you wait. Lovely tester very patient and aware of the nerves of those testing. He passed and then we were straight off back to Hibiscus Coast.
J.Counter service & technician interactions were professional & pleasant. Very busy. Outside of the building is filthy & I'd recommend they get it cleaned if they want to maintain a professional appearance. The glass covered walkway is covered in green mould.
T.No entry into building. Wait in car. High humidity. Uncomfortable wait.
J.Lines can be long. Inspectors can be grumpy and driving instructors are rude. Admin staff are helpful and efficient.
S.If you catch them on a good day, you’ll be in and out in no time otherwise there generally is a bit of a wait. The staff are super helpful and are always willing to go the extra mile if needed. Thorough mechanical checks and advice given, affordable pricing, great customer service, ideal location, professional staff!

J.Quite a long wait if you have mobility issues. Very helpful man did try to assist in getting people through the queue in timely manner though. If i had to go again I would take my own chair and my knitting.

A.Went for my full licence test today. Heard and read a lot of negative reviews about this place, but still tried my luck as it's the closest to my place.
Testing officer was Ash D, very nice and friendly person.

N.Almost failed but he let me go back early cause we were short on time. Only for me to immediate fail on the last turn haha. He let me down easy and talked me through what I needed to improve, good dude
R.Pleasant staff I prefer to take my car to VTNZ for its Wof because they have no vested interest in selling repairs. Only downside is their waiting room is too small. Nowhere to sit, no restrooms.

c.One the most necessary places to go to get car registrations and warrant of fitness for your cars. Lines can be deceivingly long but move exceptionally fast. The staff are always very helpful. The only gripe was they were out of pens to fill pit forms.
J.Have had excellent experiences with the licensing instructors here both for myself and others I have been teaching how to drive. We all know how nerve wracking it can be going for any class of license but the team there are friendly and professional with great constructive feedback.
H.Usually have had really good experience at this store but today was highly disappointed when we waited over an hour after completing the learner licence test for a paper licence! I understand it’s busy but seriously an hour?! Two staff members I dealt with were really nice but the other was really slow and rude when operating the licences section! Really disappointing as this has usually been my go to VTNZ!!
K.I have to take the company I work fors vehicles for COFs and regos regularly here. Usually have to wait in the queue for 2-4 hours which is a little boring at times but it's not really anyone's fault, it's just a really busy place. Personally I would take my personal car somewhere else just because that's a bit long for me to wait but other than the wait times the staff are friendly and they get the job done.
m.I went here and the line for the licenses was so long, alot of impatient people and only one lady trying to see to them all. I didnt mind waiting but there were a lot of others who weren't so happy, but another lady came in and got things rolling and another lady came in also to help the poor lady trying to do it by herself and that soon brought the line down but in the end I went there and got done what I needed to.
C.Busy place but staff manage the queue well. License tester was professional, clear and direct with his instructions. I had some questions when I arrived and all of the staff were helpful and communicative despite being very busy.
G.Great apart from having dirty bloody headlight's and left indicator bulb had blown. Thanks Dixon for doing recheck. Ladies in office are real people to and have a job to do and do very well. Customers need to treat them with appreciation and kindness for the job they do. Attitudes need to be in check when going their. Smiles don't hurt
M.Got a WOF for my car here this week. My car initially failed on a leaking shock and handbrake adjustment. The inspector was really good to deal with as he explained the problems. Once I had fixed the problems and returned for reinspection I did have to wait quite a while as they were busy. The waiting area is large and reasonably comfortable though.
J.Went for a WOF check + Basic Service on a Saturday morning. Arrived 7.50 AM and was 3rd in line. I was probably there not even an hour and the WOF checks were complete. Great competent service from the man behind the counter and the guys inspecting the cars. Very handy too being open on Saturdays.
M.Went for my full license today my driving instructor Alan was very kind and polite made me feel at ease when doing my driving test today I had been going to te rapa previously for my test and all the instructors were picky on the small things I really appreciate Alan's kind behavior

A.The timing was good, and the driver instructor was very polite and did everything right.. he explain everything that I needed to know and what I needed to do..overall I was happy with his advice ☺..
U.The staff members on the whole were lovely people. It's a cruel shame that their computer system is such a let down. The complete system failed for most of the morning and made the staff's jobs extremely difficult.

It was such a lovely experience right from the receptionist who was efficient and polite and was super helpful when she gave out information... while waiting I noted she was patient and polite to everyone that came in no matter how they spoke to her.
The waiting environment was warm and tidy.
When greeted from my driving instructor he was friendly and lovely ... I was a massive stress ball and his approach was well received ... instructor Karl I wana give a massive praise to as I sat and looked like a deer in headlights before my test he was very patient with me and spoke to me politely and was very effective and understanding. I was so nervous and he was fantastic at his job. He made sure I understood and gave me the time I needed just to chill and understand... he genuinely wanted to help me pass and he's efforts to help were well received ... thank you VTNZ Frankton you guys are amazing !!
A.No seats for people to sit of sore or disabilities the to seats that were there you had to give up if a person doing test needed it only complaint it would have been ok but it takes people 30 mins to get served so if you with someone getting served and you need to sit and wait you can't
l.Staff is friendly and helpful but the wait times to get a warrant is pretty long it took over 2 hours to get it done

G.When your Vehicle hasnt been registered for 40 years there is quite a process to go through , its complicated . But with the guidance and great service from Vehicle Inspector Peter Mearns at Frankton VTNZ it all fell into place and was not as stressful as it may have been with out his help. A.I went here to do my restricted test last week the woman on the reception desk were very helpful, the instructor was firm but fair and after the test a really nice guy. Even other customers were lovely will definitely go to VTNZ
F.Warrant done very quickly and efficiently but could have done without the scowling female staff member glaring at me through the ute window. She walked up & down the walkway just sharing. Very uncomfortable!
