Reviews of Patisserie YAHAGI
Y.
Best cake I ever tasted in nz. The cake is delicious and creamy, full of fresh fruit as well. It makes my day delightful!
T.
Best Japanese style bakery shop in Christchurch. They have variety of cake for you to choose and taste so good.
M.
Try the Chocolate Mousse cake, that's amazing! High quality and texture, really enjoyable.

This is without a doubt my favourite cake shop in Christchurch (and of any I've visited in different cities/countries too!) Beautiful, beautiful delicate cakes, sold by the slice or you can order a full cake to pick up (sometimes they have some whole cakes in the cabinet for spur of the moment cake needs too). Their biscuits on the counter are SO good too - in wee packs to take away with you.
Yahagi do coffee and hot chocolate too, and have two wee tables for pairs to dine in and sit for a chat.

Tasty Fig and Walnut Tarte from Yahagi! We arent local and happened to pass by the shop and decided to get one for Christmas. It was a good decision and calories well invested. Highly recommended.

Delicious green tea cake I ever eat in Zew Zealand. The Japanese staff are friendly. Got free cake from them as just nice today is their 10 years anniversary. Nice taste too ! Thank you very much.
Y.
Had the best cake ever in New Zealand so far! Cream puff was amazing, and their chocolate classic cake was just right! Went there quite late and most cakes were sold out :( The owner was extremely kind too! Highly recommended :)

Cakes so great and coffee also nice and kind staff.
:-) lovely cake too~~

Delicious chocolate mousse. A+ texture and taste. No surprise that it’s their best seller. Quaint ambience and excellent presentation of their treats.

This has to be the best fancy cake bakery in Christchurch! Their award winning chocolate mousse filled cakes are to die for. They only use the purest ingredients available - think pure vanilla vs vanilla essence. The difference - albeit subtle - is definitely noticeable. The service and presentation is exemplary. Every special occasion is celebrated with a treat from Yahagi!

Best cakes in Christchurch in my opinion. Whichever cake you choose, you can't go wrong. Just the right amount of sweetness. Perfect light texture that's hard to find elsewhere.
R.
The most delicious deserts me and my partner had in New Zealand (and we've been around!). Excellent service, very kind and caring staff. Takeaway container was carefully organised to avoid mishaps. If you're reading this, get in and buy a Fruit Tarte! :)

Wonder customer service. Exquisitely crafted delicious desserts to treat yourself or surprise someone special! We come here early we visit Christchurch. Highly recommended.

Great Japanese style bakery (patisserie). If you want a lighter note refreshing cake than the usual kiwi style I highly recommend here. Owner is also very nice and helpful.

The presentation of the desserts, as well as the care and handling of them is something to behold. I left Yahagi with my green tea sponge slice delicately wrapped and secure in a little box to take home. At first I expected the sponge to be sweet to compensate for the bitterness that comes with matcha, however I wasn't expecting the smooth combination of matcha and cream in perfect balance where you can enjoy the true taste of matcha in a cake. Although if you're looking for something sweeter the chocolate tart is amazing, I bought it for my sisters birthday and I can definitely say the big cakes are well worth their value compared to other patisseries.

Omg does this place even know how to not know to make divine, lip smacking delights or marvellous morsels of magic? I doubt it. This place is patisserie paradise. You will never leave feeling as if you've made a wrong choice only pining that you couldn't leave with more. Yes the prices are steep compared with a PaknSave sponge but what you do receive is more than a sugar hit, it's visual artistry. When the Japanese do things well they do things soaringly well and the Japanese gentleman who runs this store runs an immaculate enterprise. Even a Frenchman would be shivering to take on this guy on a bake off. He's that good. Trust me, I'm a fat guy who knows about cakes and I've been to Japan. Japanese hospitality makes nz hospitality seem second rate. The presentation of each and every product is sublime and whether you leave the shop having spent $2 or $200,you leave the store feeling as if you've been treated like a Royal. And if you want a pie like no other, JapaNZ bakery in South city mall will give ANY Kiwis pies a bloody good run for their money. Sugoi desu ne. Hai Hai haaai

I went here while I was having a bad day to cheer myself up and it didn't disappoint. The owner is so friendly and you can really tell how much dedication the team at Yahagi put into their craft.

(Translated) Eating a hard cake with New Zealand tasteless frosting
After eating this cake, I cried.
The chocolate mousse is so good and delicious, and the matcha cake is also steamy and delicious❣️
But macaroons aren't really good... haha.
