C.Really freshened up. More a cafe bakery than a standard bakery. Large open seating area. Great coffee, best in town. Great friendly staff. Love the bespoke freshly homebaked style fare. Cheese scones are my alltime favorites, close 2nd is lemon and blueberry scones. And now they do cinnamon scrolls. OMG, my waistline will not thank me.
H.Came here Whangamata for the 21st anniversary Beach Hop. Seated outdoor seating and enjoyed warm burgers with milk shakes watching many classic cars.
Two burgers and two milkshakes $25.
Inside, clean and tidy.

P.I do like these kinds of country cafes. They will never be 5 star, but then they aren't pretentious, aren't stupidly priced, are usually clean, and to me, reflect a simpler time. Food Express is completely unassuming - which for many tourists means that they will probably walk straight past.
But I liked it.
One small downside - nice coffee at a reasonable price - but was served in a takeaway container. I much prefer crockery for taste, and to reduce rubbish.
