I’m in Wellington for a couple of weeks and came here for a cut and wash. Joel did an awesome job of my zero-fade working round into a blend on the other side. Will definitely come back next time I’m in town.

I travel down from Auckland a bit so decided to time a hair cut with my trip and I’m glad I did, I did a walk in Saturday afternoon and was seen within about 15 mins. The barber from Upper Hutt sorry I can’t remember his name was very good, discussed the process and was very detailed with his work. I also decided to have a shampoo and head massage since it isn’t offered in barbers I go to in Auckland it was a nice experience and I will try time my Wellington trips with haircuts in the future.

I’ve been going to FB for a few year now and they’ve proved to be consistent, professional and skilful. I ask for a skin fade and (long) beard trim/tidy and that’s exactly what I receive with all the attention to detail you would expect from a premium service. Don’t waste your time trying to save a few bucks at your local - if you want to look great, go see these guys. Make an appointment or try your luck with a walk in.

Showed the barber (Jam) what idea I had and he took his time styling and cutting. Was very happy with his work, a definite recommend!

More than a Barber shop , its an experience and they make you comfortable. How many of you think that you will be offered a drink when you go for a haircut? You will be here. Excellent craftsmanship with great customer experience. You will love the ambiance and the guys are great. Highly recommend

The French Barbers is amazing, and certainly lives up to the hype. Each an every one of the barbers in the shop are professional and will leave you with a great looking haircut. They are friendly, on time and always deliver what you want. I have never been to a barbershop better than this one in my life. You will not regret going and it is an amazing experience! P.s if you speak French, ask for a French speaking barber and they will be happy to have a conversation with you in French

Have been coming for over 2 years now and they never fail to impress. The whole team there is awesome. Particularly get my haircuts from Kevin who is incredible! Good advice as well.

Le merveilleux à Wellington! Best barber in town, the French Barber has an authentically gentlemanly feel that doesn’t seem forced or over done. Book ahead and you’ll get priority, but the friendly and welcoming barbers will pretty quickly set you at ease that there is no rush in getting your hair cut, clipped, or shaved. Alan, the most French among the barbers, will ensure your meagre instructions turn into a great haircut well beyond what an amateur could ask for. Basic cuts and clipper cuts are available for the less picky at around $30 and $25 respectively. A superior cut is where it’s are though, especially if you have enough hair to craft and at $45 it’s value for money given how good you’ll feel once sorted. Bearded brethren should get in too, as the barbers shape beard brilliantly and can turn any man from “unshaven” to “well-groomed” in quick time. The various hair care products also make for a little, necessary love for often neglected areas. Go here for the kind of barber experience you hear about in old days, where your barber cares, will joke with you about drinking later, and occasionally swear in French.....and they’re just the kiwi barbers! Enjoy.

Always get a great haircut here. Very cool looking traditional barber shop. You can potentially get a walk in, but i would definitely recommend to book in advance. They are usually booked days in advance so some planning is required. You can also choose your favourite barber. The prices are appropriate for the location and service you get there.

Best haircut in NZ. I've been looking for a place for almost three years and these guys deliver, everytime. They also go the extra mile with the kids. Fluffy and cut. Deluxe. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I brought my 20 month old son here for a haircut. Jason and his team were lovely and professional, and tried to make it a positive experience as possible for my son, who wasn't too keen. They did a fantastic job and were well priced.

This place is very special, modern cuts meets classic traditional barbers. These guys know how to cut. They are not the cheapest, but not expensive. Been a few times now, this place is a hidden gem.

I would highly recommend Joel! I have waist length hair that is super thick, I wanted a radical (for me) change of an under cut. I was very nervous and didn't have an idea of what would look good stylistically but Joel took great care in making me comfortable and thinking about what would look the best. I am soooo happy!!! would 100% recommend- he definitely takes professional pride in his work and has a great eye :)

My second time to The French Barber. Was looked after by Joel who is still in training. Was very happy with his work and attitude. One of his french coworkers helped him out with advice and checked on him from time to time. Feels like a very professional and positive work environment. Highly recommended if you are after a quality haircut. Thank you!

Amazing cuts, great atmosphere and very skilled barbers! I'm pretty androgynous, but I'm sure they wouldn't refuse women/femme if they want a nice barber cut. Higher price then some others nearby, but not obscenely high compared to fancy gentleman's barbers of equal quality. Go here once, go here forever. You won't regret it.

Good barbers, quick and good quality. They clearly care about the end result and discuss options. They take walk in's but I would recommend booking ahead online, didn't have a long wait but they were busy.

Took my 3 year old son and was delighted at how entertaining Sami was for him. He took his time, we did not feel rushed and I got the vibe that all the staff were like a family and all enjoyed themselves at work which is fantastic to see. We were introduced to other staff which I thought was a nice touch, great customer service and made us feel welcome. Definitely recommend, you won't be disappointed with your experience.

Easily the best barbers in Wellington. Yes the French barbers is more costly than others, however you're getting what you pay for. The service is very professional and comfortable. The products they use and stock are also fantastic. Wether you're a local or stopping in whilst travelling you will not be disappointed. Thank you guys for the awesome service.

I have been going here for around three years because I can always trust that they will do an excellent job. I would particularly like to commend the barber with beard, tattoos and darker complexion for being an excellent stylist, but also making customers feel welcome and valued. He will even say hello and ask how you are outside of the barbershop! I wouldn't consider going anywhere else in Wellington!

I only recently discovered The French Barber and can happily say If you want to upgrade your Barber, then this is the place for you. Immaculate shop with great setup, the team are well trained and tidy, very professional and engaging. They make getting a haircut a really enjoyable and relaxing experience.

Checked out this place before coming down from Kerikeri. Emailed in advance - received a most welcoming reply from Jason. Even though my plane was late arriving, the guys still took me in just before closing. Jamie was awesome. Totally professional and gave straight up advice. I recommend The French Barber 100%. If you've seen the rest - you need to visit the best!! I'll be back every time I'm in Wellington. And thanks Jamie - now I know what I've been missing out on.

Best place in Wellington to get your hair cut. Very clean and professional operation. Just make sure you have plenty of time as with waiting and a thorough cut you can be there around an hour (it's worth it).

I stopped by back in March for a trim whilst I was travelling. The fact that I’m back in the UK and still leaving this review for a one off cut tell you how much I thought of these guys. James gave me the best cut I think i’ve ever had. The attention to detail, patience and effort from him to ensure it was spot regardless of time taken is something you don’t experience often. Highly professional, skilled staff with a vision for what customers want. Both times I have been here I received the best beard shaping of my life. Haircuts are just as sharp. Modern cuts to suit each customer. No cookie cutter approaches. Truly an authentic French barber experience. Owner is French of course. Furniture and decor is imported from France. Coffee offered on arrival. In the higher price range, but worth it.

I've been looking for a new barber for the last year, trying all sorts of places. I found my new home. Place is basic with just a touch of class. They took their time, they talked to me, they LISTENED, they gave advice but ultimately, let me make the decisions. Every question I had, they answered honestly. They were professional but personable. I felt pampered but not overly. I bought some beard balm from them, I tipped $15, I walked out with a fantastic shave/cut. So happy. Merci guys

A great barber. The owner is very down to earth, does a great job and takes the time to understand what you what. He also makes recommendations and will show you how to keep your hair looking good. Doesn't push products like other places.

My husband and I chanced apon this barber while on a holiday in Wellington from way down south early last year, so I decided to shout my husband a cut and trim, he's very hersuit and wow and hour later you should have seen him! Amazing! We are back for a day on Wednesday and I'm thinking we might need to come back.

First time I came, it was awesome. Second, a different gentleman, I was less than impressed. He trimmed my beard and took a little too much off one side. Currently lopsided.. :-( I will return however, as the first impression was awesome.
