I will be honest, my first experience here last week was not the best. Friendly staff and they were very polite, however the service felt very rushed and not a great deal of care was taken. I had a different stylist than who I was supposed to be booked with. When it came to global colour, it felt very rushed and there was dye on my forehead, ears and back of my neck. The stylist said he would wash it off but it had sat there for 50 minutes already that I could see it had stained. The dye was not washed out properly at the back of my head/ neck area that it became dry and scabby the next day. I also washed out more colour when I washed my hair next. I had asked for layers when it came to my haircut, but I could tell this was rushed as they were due to close within the next 20 minutes. I received a dry trim and some long layers at the bottom, however not what I had asked for or shown the stylist. I did remind him a few times about adding in more layers starting further up and he acknowledged me but I still did not receive this. For $245 I would have really expected more care and consideration that I have received elsewhere.

I received a hair smoothing treatment from Elly. She was lovely. It was a wonderful experience and my hair has never looked better. I fell asleep because it was so relaxing. It doesn't smell as much as keratin straightening and I walked out of the salon with clean, dry, silky hair. Thank you Elly, I'll be back in 3-6 months!!

Love coming here... I travel from the other side of Auckland just so I can see my favourite hairdresser Ally ❤. Reasonably priced, comfortable, great banter, amazing head massages well worth the drive.

The whole team at Maelstrom are always so warm and welcoming and Elly did a fantastic job on my hair as per usual.

I enjoyed the company of Elly, she knew what I wanted and she gave me great advice. Love my new look! Maelstrom Hairdressing is a great place to start if you are fussy with your hair. Thank you!

This was my first time at Maelstrom and I had the lovely Ellie working on my hair. She gave me a thorough consultation and we discussed pros and cons of products etc. She listened to how I wanted my hair cut and coloured and I am really happy with how it turned out. I will be returning 100%

I’ve had long natural hair for many years. I wanted a change so I went to ask them how they will change my hair. Then I waited for 3 years to think about it till I’ve decided I was ready. Now I have a new look, I cut my hair and I bleached it. They explained all the process I was going to have and they did as the told me. I’m so happy. And the staff are very friendly. I definitely recommend Maelstrom Hairdressing!

Lovely salon and lovely staff. I always find hairdressers to be a bit hit or miss, as I have quite dry and curly hair. I did go there early last year so this review is a little delayed. In this case I found that while she did a good job with my hair straightened, she didn't take the time to cut it when it was curly, and so bounced up a bit funny when I washed it. She also pushed products quite heavily, which I understand is part of the job, but they were more about smoothing and straightening my hair than allowing it to curl nicely and naturally. I would still recommend them, as they provide a number of beauty services and the staff are all welcoming and lovely, but I wouldn't get my hair cut there again just because of what my hair needs.

First time with Maelstrom 😊 I had my first Hair treatment and Touch up...OMG!!! I have never seen my hair so ALIVE!!!😁 Pri was my consultation and she was Amazing, so helpful and understanding and her and wonderful staff member spent their quality time on my hair and I felt so bad taking their time when it was almost their Closing hour but Pri, her time spent was priceless. Thank you Pri and your team for my hair😁😁😁 BTW Husband loves it!! 😍😍😍 ox

I sent them a message on fb about a recent post that they had just made and asked if they could do my hair like that. They never responded to my questions regarding the hair but instead they send me inappropriate messages saying they are thinking about me? What the hell. You don’t even know me. Please reply to my message regarding the hair and keep it professional .
