Great service, an excellent workshop and top notch work. I have used this shop for quite a few years, mainly for workshop services, like having a custom wheel built and servicing the suspension on my bike, as well as buying parts for the jobs I do at home. I'm always very happy with the work and I appreciate the honest and direct feedback that has been given when I've queried things. Highly recommended.

My bike had a puncture and Basic Bikes fixed it for $20 same day. They take care for customers and don't try to sell you more than you want. No techno speak and women should go here because you are not made to feel dumb for not knowing your sprocket from your spanner. Great service and aftercare. Gets my vote 👍

A great bike repair shop. I had multiple issues with my back wheel and brake and now it rides better than new! The staff where very knowledgable and got my bike up and running the same day at a fair price. They talked me through the process and couldnt be happier with the service. Honestly, the best bike shop in all of Christchurch. I have been in a jam several times and they always seem to occur when I'm at the park with my mates, 1-2 laps in and something goes wrong with my bike. I've been able to pop into Basic Bikes and more than once they've helped me out on the spot within the hour. Friendly, helpful, great prices and of course ... epic bike knowledge. This is now my "go to" bike shop for servicing! Best in Christchurch! They are detailed, thorough, and trustworthy! This is a bike shop focused on quality bike servicing, not sales... it shows! As someone who tries to as much maintenance at home as possible: quality work! I came for a dual shock service and a wheel Tru-ing on my mtb. I found my bike ready to ride... All brakes adjusted, derailleur adjusted, cables replaced besides the service I paid for. Excellent communication on problems they found along the way! They were honest about not charging me for expensive services my bike didn't need (rings)! I suspect many reviewers who complain about pricing don't understand the detail they pay attention to! Dave looked after me and really showed genuine care towards me as a customer, my riding needs, my bike, and happy to teach some maintenance! Perhaps if you are a casual rider... These may not be details you don't notice. But I think their pricing is reasonable for the level of service & attention they provide! I trust them with my steed any day! Thanks Basic Bikes, Dave, and all the staff! I'll be back & delighted to recommend to friends!!

To the the two lads working on New years eve you guys are legends!!!! Over from Australia and my Trek wheel crumpled, a few larger shops laughed at me chasing a replacement(on nye) but these two ripped in and built the exact wheel i wanted. To top it off they even straightened my twisted brake rotor as well. Cannot thanks these guys enough for their efforts. The new wheel feels awesome after the first ride.
