Reviews of Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest
J.
One of the most amazing forests I've seen located within a city! Plenty of activity here, such as mountain biking and walking tracks. If you go through the vistors center there is a tree top walk and flying fox which you can pay and enter. Everything else is free and there's plenty of parking. Walking tracks start from the visitors center, take the red track for a quick 30min walk.
Amazing place to visit both during the day and at night.
Walking tracks can be seen in my photos.
v.
This is one beautiful forest with plenty of large majestic trees. I could spend all day soaking up the scenery. There is one set of toilets at the front entrance along with a small shop. I wouldn't recommend use of wheelchairs or strollers as the tree roots are everywhere! There are horses around the tracks which is great to see and loads of mountain bike riders. You can opt to take a short track which is good for small children (follow the signs) will be coming back for sure!
D.
We went for a hike and took the Pohaturoa track (yellow arrows) which took us a little over 2 hours. The trail had many beautiful lookouts facing both the mountains and the lake, and many photo opportunities amongst the trees. The first part of the route is mostly under the open sky, and the latter part being covered in the forest.
The track itself was relatively smooth; easy to intermediate in difficulty. I would highly recommend this track to anyone who loves nature to experience these trails for themselves!
M.
Love this place. My 2 girls (5 and 12) love playing and going on the walks. My husband and eldest go on some of the bike tracks and as a family we really enjoyed the treetops walk. Great place for walking, running, riding or picnics 👌💜

Redwoods
The Redwoods – Whakarewarewa Forest
Haere mai ki te Wao Tapu nui ? Tane, Nau mai haere mai.
The history and culture surrounding the Whakarewarewa Forest, the variety of outdoor recreational opportunities, diverse range of exotic tree species, mix of native undergrowth, panoramic views, and proximity to lakes, thermal areas and the city centre have made The Redwoods & Whakarewarewa Forest one of Rotorua’s most spectacular natural assets and one of the city’s greatest treasures.
Over 5600 hectares of forest awaits you to enjoy and explore at your leisure. If you love the outdoors and want to experience nature at its best this area is definitely for you!
The forest is most well known for the network of superb mountain biking and walking tracks and for the magnificent stand of Californian Coast Redwoods. These towering trees, along with numerous other species and the fresh forest air, combine to create an invigorating atmosphere and a truly unique and special environment.
Whether you are walking, biking, horse riding, running with your dog, or just relaxing, alone or with family or friends, the forest can evoke all sorts of feelings.
Whatever the reason for your visit you will experience a feeling of attachment to this wonderful place.
Embrace the manaakitanga extended to you and show this ‘generosity and spirit’ in return by treating the environment and others who visit the forest with care and respect.
Californian Redwood
Native to the north west coast of America, the botanical name ‘sequoia semperviren’ was given to the species by a German botanist to honour the half-caste Cherokee Chief Seqoyah, who developed an alphabet to enable his tribe’s dialect to be written. The common name Redwood comes from the tree’s heartwood
which is a light cherry colour and can darken to nut-brown when exposed to air.
It was the reputation of this timber, used widely for general building purposes that led to the planting of the Redwood Grove in Rotorua in 1901. The results of the planting were mixed – of the original 1

Totally loved it. Being afraid of heights wasn't that much an issue at night time and the lights throughout were amazing. Well done team, even with level 2 happening, it was real popular but the wait time went past fast. Recommend to anyone to check it out. Tomorrow, we'll see how I go during day time.
M.
Awesome Family Experience. 2 day pass for $99 Great value. Do the Night walk first which is magical then be amazed by nature from above in the Day walk. Lovely forest trails by foot or mountain bike. Buy tickets at booth BEFORE lining up ( long line at night - 30 min wait ) . Fun or all ages. Excellent Customer Service.
C.
Really fun thing to do, I went at night. Entry fee was $35 and you could easily spend an hour walking around the swing bridges up in the trees. I'd like to see it again during the day. Cool activity in Rotorua.
P.
Was a beautiful feeling to have nice walk in between the trees, breath in the nice air together with my son, my husband and father in law.
S.
Great experience, must try in Rotorua. Don’t miss both the day and night walks
K.
The best thing to do on a hot, muggy summer's day!
The tall trees provided cool shade and there were a variety of walks and biking to choose from!
Beautiful walk - kids and adults throughly enjoying it❤
T.
Love this forrest
One of my favorite in NZ
Always impresaive
Like the nature
N.
Great place for mountain biking, walking, soaking up the forest vibe.
p.
Brilliant place to mbike. Plus the tree walk was good aswell, but the night time tree walk was better than the day. Great time
T.
perfect for walking and exploring. Options for all sorts of activities and ideal for runs, bike rides, picnics etc.
P.
An amazing experience. This is a must do if visiting Rotorua, just incredible. Night view is “must see”.
S.
Great walk with the family. The memorial walk is 2 km and has lost to see along the way. Pushchair, stroller, buggy friendly. Lots of parking and pretty empty right now. Enjoy lots of enormous trees and some great scenery.
Like if helpful
N.
I was afraid at first when we visited the Redwoods at night. Walking out to the unknown was what freaked me out the most. But the views were amazing. We came back during the day and i was fine. Thank you for the experience. Much appreciated and the Hot Chocolate was just what you need when it's cold.
V.
Beautiful, tranquil place for a walk amongst the trees. Information panels about nature at each platform area were informative. My family and I enjoyed our visit here.
P.
A real local gem. Awesome for walks, bike rides and even horses. Gets busy during summer and weekends. Rotorua is blessed to have this so close to town. Right next door is a huge off-lead dog exercise area thanks to Scion. Dogs, walks, runs, bike rides, mountain biking, canopy experiences... It's a playground that's well known throughout the region and beyond. Bring your bike, your walking shoes, your dogs, your orienteering compass, your geocaching app, your disc golf gear... Just come and see
P.
Bring a jacket as once you are out of the sun it is pretty chilly. Good walking tracks and beautiful forest with redwood trees. Shame they are not native but incredible none the less and worth a visit.. nice free attraction.
C.
Incredible run this icy morning but totally worth it. Would definitely recommend the Pohaturoa track, it had everything you could ask for in a trail run :)
S.
Loved the walks and the choices of different walking tracks of different levels and lengths. Very well sign posted. Would recommend as a must do when visiting Rotorua. Isite staff very friendly and helpful
A.
I did the 34km loop today on a mountain bike and had fun....A good grade 2 track for families also well maintained track I needed to give my legs a good workout after doing skyline the following day il definitely do it again next time I'm down here😊👍🚴
P.
Stunning! They also had a promo where I could go at night too! Unexpected but I absolutely rate that night walk. First time in Rotorua and easily the coolest thing I did that weekend.
H.
This is a review of the Purple Trail...
Well developed trail, with a mix of hills and flat, forest and 4x4 road. A lot of shade on this trail, but don't skimp on the sunscreen.
Took us just over two hrs for the 11km or so.
Only one water spot along the way so take liquids, and maybe a snack as the hills will burn some energy.
We went clockwise as suggested. In hindsight anti-clockwise would avoid some big hills and may be preferable.
Some parts of the track are shared, so keep your wits about you as mountain bikers can come from any direction, and the occasional runner and maybe a horse or two.
All in all, a nice forest walk in a beautiful area.
N.
Beautiful by day and amazing by night. You have to see in daylight and then all lit up after dark to truly appreciate the tall Redwoods and viewing platforms, the connecting walkways above the forest floor and then the wonderland it becomes once darkness falls. So much for so little cost. A "must see" if you're in Rotorua.
R.
Absolutely lovely place to take your horse for a range of different length rides with some beautiful scenery and lovely bush
S.
Whether you go during the day or evening, you'll love this place. So beautiful and peaceful. Buy a day ticket, as it includes the night walk so you can also take the walking track through the forrest.
Y.
These are photos of the Tokorangi Pā trail. Absolutely fabulous experience. You will encounter mountain bikers often so you won't feel alone during run/walk. Big red decent hill climb. Unfortunately no Pa site to see. I wondered what it was like before the Californian Redwoods arrived. There must have been native bush without the pests eating all the birds. Made me wonder a lot what was lost through colonisatbush. You are rewarded with breathtaking views at the top but would have been fantastic to see a historic Pā at the original site too...
V.
Night walk was great!! Lights were pretty awesome!!
M.
What a fantastic activity. A serene walk so peaceful and breathe taking, with a little excitement on the suspended bridges! Wonderful for the soul to be amongst such beautiful nature 😊
U.
Felt like went into Avatar movie set. Brilliantly thought and creative place must visit when you plan your Rotorua trip
W.
Redwoods - Whakarewarewa Forest walk is a free walking experience next to the Redwoods Tree Walk. You can get a free map at the Information Centre and choose a route that suits you. Beautiful tall redwood forest surrounds you and plenty to see. We passed the Redwoods Altitude area and saw people up in the trees on ziplines
C.
Great attraction the do. Has Bridges between the trees so those afraid of heights or unstable heights or other fears might not be the best. Night walk looks great. We went a bit early so wasn't dark enough for the lights to be on.
V.
This is a good place to visit at night but entry was like 35$ which seems a lot. But for one time visit is not a bad place. Cheers
H.
Great tracks, and plenty of them, for walking, cycling, taking your dogs around a huge area. Also has a frisbee golf course among other activities.
E.
What an amazing place. If you love the nature and this is a must when you visit Rotorua. The night walk was something memorable and the kids loved it. When we purchased the day walk, we were given free access to night walk.
L.
Fabulous trails for every level and beautiful scenery in amongst the trees. The only improvement would be a better, more detailed paper map. 🌲🌲🌲
G.
Extremely well done and good if you're afraid of heights. It only gets challenging when you're near the end and it's all worth it it. Beautiful scenery and it really is a wonder.
Z.
We're at Redwoods before and really liked serenity. When we found about night walk this was must-do in Rotorua. Booking online is great option as there is a lot of people coming there. There is a bit if wait time due to restrictions on simultaneous number of people but it is worth it. Kids were enjoying free popcorn and it smelled great. The walk took about 40mins and I would recommend it of you are in Rotorua.
N.
Seriously stunning. We did the Mokopuna (3.4km) track. It was mostly flat and good for a stroll through the majestic forest.
A.
Brilliant unique experience for all ages. Must visit both day and night. An iconic part of NZ history and a world heritage.
R.
First time there. Awesome experience with the family. However, as we went to the Night Walk, there was quite a crowd. We ended up waiting in line over 2 hours! I have to say, it was worth the wait though... Not for those scared of heights lol.
D.
Had some fine morning walks in the forest. A good place to visit for a nice, fresh, peaceful exercise walk.
J.
I took my 3 kids (5, 4 & 4) on the redwoods nightlight walk and what an experience! We got there at about 7.45pm and there was already a queue (going in winter would be a better option if you have little ones as it gets dark alot earlier). You understandably, aren't allowed to carry your children due to being so high up in the trees but they have prams available. Chances are they will be so excited that they will want to run through the whole thing anyway.
The kids absolutely loved this treetop walk! And going at night made it even more exciting. The lanterns scattered throughout the trees were absolutely magical so if you can wait until its completly dark before you go then I would!
About 3/4 of the way through you.can either go up or down, we went up and it was alot of fun going along the lit up bridges and through the big lantern at the end.
The night we went they had an outdoor movie playing with free popcorn so we ended up staying another 45 minutes after the walk.
100% recommend doing this!
J.
This place is amazing to go to either by day or night. Though I do highly recommend going to the Redwoods at night, as the place makes exponential and outstanding views.
Also the staff are really kind and serious about keeping the place feel safe and secure, whilst at the same time keeping the atmosphere open and fun. Though please do mind to respect the rules that the staff says, as they are really crucial for everyone's safety, for those who want to walk the Redwoods.
Overall the place is beautiful, and that I highly recommend for anyone to go vist Redwoods - Whakarewarewa Forest, as the place gives really amazing, and outstanding views especially at night. Once again I overall love the place and that I rate it 5 Stars out of 5.
A.
Great for people of all ages. We really enjoyed it with our teen and young 4 year old.
Depening on time you arrive, the wait in the queue was long (prebuy tickets online) Parking hard to find so arrive early.
M.
This place is stunning and beautiful during the day. Night lights were a bit disappointing because it wasn't as pretty as I thought. But still a pleasant experience
B.
Absolutely spectacular place the views and the scent of the woods around you made you feel at peace
B.
The night lights was excellent, there is definately about a 90 minute wait time if you go around 9pm which was just getting dark in february, but works like a well oiled machine. Plenty to entertain while you wait. The lights are truly amazing and although busy it didn't feel crowded in the treetops.
K.
Highly recommended! The night is when you should be going! MAGICAL
plus walking around the redwoods forest itself is beautiful!
A.
A bit ready to force you to take the high way tour (that is quite expensive) in between trees.
The rest is cool.
M.
Beautiful big redwood trees. If you are afraid of heights tree top walk is Not for you, especially at night. Fantastic light display.
T.
Amazing!! Nice tree walk!!
J.
Truly a unique experience! Third time we've been here, once again breathtaking. Next time we will be back for the night time walk and bringing our bikes for the MTB tracks.
S.
We were hesitant in doing the Redwood Tree walk as we had to pay for it and the weather was not great, but a local suggested us to go to the Redwood park. The Treewalk is near the visitor center, and this is where you can get a map with free walks along the trees. It allows you to make up your mind and decide what to do. There are different walks from short to longer ones. We did the short one as we were expecting rain and it gave us a really good feel of the place. The sight, even though it was overcast, was beautiful. I am sure we would have taken the longer one if the weather was cooperative with us. The paths are easy to find and in good condition. I would suggest to wear closed shoes. I would highly suggest to wander within those giants!
m.
Loved it there are so many awsome trails the tree walk food drinks available
g.
Family fun, good clean fun, accessible to all, there were family groups of three generations, young couples with tots, mature couples, and three little boys about six years old who lapped me twice! I love this place, we will return.
D.
Friends had recently done this and we had some spare time so thought we would try it as well. Was a neat walk through the trees so peaceful and with the fresh smells of the forest.
We went back to do the night walk but the queue was really long so we just enjoyed some walking and photos at ground level.
H.
Expensive but worth doing once. Tree serenity if you ok with heights. Super safe for the family.
N.
I thoroughly enjoyed the stroll down memory lane with our Koko, very interesting for a newby like me.
T.
Night walk and day walk both enjoyable.
Nice visual effects can be seen in the night.
C.
Beautiful forest to explore. Just a shame that it’s expensive to do the tree walk so instead I walked around and explored the forest myself.
G.
Simply the best thing to do in Rotorua, during the day, amazing views and great walk, surrounded by redwood trees, and clear water; during the night, magical view from the lanterns lighten up on the trees, absolutely breathtaking. Totally worth going on both periods, morning and evening. Even if you don’t want to pay for walking along the pathway, you can still go along the ground.
C.
Beautiful forest with lots of different walking tracks. We decided to do the yellow track. It was amazing. At most places the track was well marked. There were plenty of people at different places on the track and the look outs were spectacular, especially the one looking out over Rotorua. The i-site offered free maps which was very helpful. There is a picnic spot on the yellow track, but when we got there it was a bit too damp and in shade for our liking. While the hilltop spots were much better.
E.
Always a joy to take a walk in this beautiful forest of Redwoods and native New Zealand trees. The walking tracks are well marked out and maintained and there are options for all levels of ability and fitness. Love it!
A.
Always a tranquil experience. Well worth the effort to drive down from Auckland. Even just for a one night stay! Love these woods. You can feel the nature.
G.
This was easy to get to by car as it's close to the town on the edge of the Redwood Forest. There was a lot of parking available.
We purchased our tickets at the information building which was clean and tidy. The bathrooms were also clean and tidy
The man at the start of the tour gave us some basic info on not jumping and no more than 8 at a time on each bridge.
The construction appeared top notch and you never felt nervous about the strength of the bridges. There was plenty of stops where you could take a break, take in the view, sanitise your hands and read the info boards on the forest and trees.
There were David Trubridge designed lights hanging from the forest which light up at night so we will go back again tonight as this would be beautiful. Our tickets are for the full day so you can go back again.
There was a cafe in the info centre which had some food, drinks and coffee, plus plenty of souvenirs in the info centre.
The whole setup has been really well put together and adults and kids all enjoyed it.
They even had purpose built buggies for taking babies in a capsule so the whole family can go along.
C.
Love the tree walk. Definitely a must do, they also have deals. Pay to do a day walk and they will give a free pass for night light tree walk. This may be limited time only so please check with staff ☺️
C.
Absolutely gorgeous view on the night walk will definitely go back for the day walk to see the view during the day
E.
We did the night walk. I'm terrified of falling however I was OK a few bridges through. Great adventure for the whole family.
M.
A NZ must do, SUPER beautiful trees & nature, lots of walking tracks 2 cater for all fitness levels, love 2 take poppy there, more to review need go back again.
T.
The Holy Mecca of MTB! had the mean as first time riding here (06-09 July 2018). Huge place and i was lucky to have a mate to guide me on some of the trails. Being winter it was fairly chilly but the tracks were hardly affected. Did over 100km of riding (including biking from my accommodation at Blue Lake Top 10 Holiday Park) over 2 days!
Had the privilege of riding the shuttle bus up Hill Road (stankyasf) and missed the same on the last run and had to ride up all the way #lulz
Helpful and friendly staff at the Main Hub, coffee facilities and a small shop. can also hire bikes here but i reckon its bloody expensive for a daily rate (bring ya own if you can bro)
Gotta get back here in Summer!
C.
If u like forests or just want to get away from life this is an awesome spot
M.
Great walking tracks, love how mountain bikers and trampers are kept separate most of the time, and share with care signs in all the right places, trails are very clearly marked
A.
Walking among the Redwood, you feel so small. Some of the canopy are so tall and dense you cannot spot the sunlight. Would like to try the cycle trail if I should re-visit. The skywalk looks interesting too.
Take your time, do not rush through.
P.
Wow what a place. Very popular but worth the visit. We went at night and it was stunning.loved it
K.
Gorgeous walks and amazing to see the giant redwoods. Good for families. You're able to choose from a long walk or shorter ones for little ones
B.
High recommend the tree walk and forest walk! Great family outing for all ages! Make sure to take some snacks or picnic basket. The cafe closes at midday, cannot purchase hot drinks or food after that....
B.
Redwoods is amazing if you're riding, walking or just relaxing at one of there service points
R.
A tad pricy and we went on a public holiday so had to wait for 90 minutes in line, but glad we did wait because it was definitely worth it. Did the night walk and it was just stunning.
W.
Was a great walk but was deadly silence no birdlife to speak of why is that?
W.
Did the night redwood treewalk. It was very very fun. Love crossing the bridge and feel the night up the trees. The lights was nice and they even had free popcorn, although I didn't have any.
V.
Great place with many walking trails ranging from 30 mins to half day. A must try in Rotorua.
r.
Amazing. We got a chance to visit multiple times. So did a night visit first and next day morning. It is beautiful in both. Must visit in night 🌉
S.
Just beautiful. Loved the walk under the giat Redwoods.
G.
I've never experienced something like this before was amazing beautiful lights had the time of our life with excellent view's
E.
Amazing place to see in Rotorua with the redwoods absolute towering above you. A few nice walks to check out and you can pay extra for a treetop experiences.
M.
An amazing experience. This is a must do if visiting Rotorua, just incredible
G.
Awesome place to go for a quiet tourist attraction. No tech, just mother earth all around. Good to give the kids a "birds eye view" of a forest.
A.
Very magical place, great during the day and night
O.
A great place for a walk through the great redwood trees and tree ferns. Track routes vary in length and are clearly marked. Cycle routes are also available although we didn't use them.
N.
Premier mountain biking park in Rotorua New Zealand. Bikes for hire in carpark. Plus a cafe. Shuttle service available, or ride to the top under your own steam. Great for kids too. Grade 2-5 tracks available. Big network of tracks, can easily ride 30km in a day & only see some of the park. Ride through native bush, redwood forest & beside geothermal streams. If you are a mountainbiker this is a must do in Rotorua. Sorry no pictures of the gnarly tracks we were too busy staying on our Bikes!
A.
This is a VERY late review. I'm an American and I came to New Zealand in 2014 to visit my family. We went to this park on a day trip and it quite literally occupies my mind every day. I hope to visit here again one day, it is absolutely beautiful and enveloping. The Kiwis certainly know how to conserve their parks, and this one is no exception. When I went It was clean, the paths were safe and well groomed, and the park rangers were professional and pleasant. If I come back to the island, this will be my first stop. Being near a volcano is a rare experience for most and it was highly humbling for me, being that close to such a massive force of nature. It really stunned me, especially at my young age when I came here (11).
Anyways, go here, it's great!
k.
Great place to chill out with some piece n quiet
T.
This was a well priced trip even if not reduced due to covid-19 for traveling Kiwi's. A pleasant walk high above the ground weaving through these amazing Red Wood trees. There are walks and bike riding heaven.
b.
Great walk with nature. Very safe. Well designed
v.
Fantastic. Nighttime and late is the best...very peaceful and magical. A MUST DO activity for anyone
T.
It's one of my favourite stop in Rotorua. The 60 minutes walk is a must for me. It's glad to know that the place is under the way of upgrading and I am looking forward to it.
H.
Awesome experience and will be back to do the night walk
M.
Really beautiful walk! afternoon was lovely with great views into the forest, will be back for the night walk!
B.
We experienced during the day and night, and both were well worth it. Friendly staff all round. Our whānau loved it, thank you.
A.
Amazing place! Loved it, kids too!
S.
Absolutely stunning! Great experience being under the redwood trees. I felt as though there was a slight lack of signing as well as the stairs were sometimes difficult to climb because they were an odd size and the material inside had washed away making them a bit more difficult to navigate (these two factors leading to 4 stars) but overall very lovely. Oh and the dog park is so fantastic!!
S.
Wonderful place for family
I.
This place is magical. Always a great space to unwind or live out your very own version of a bear hunt (we did, our 2 year old had a blast). Especially love the treetops walk at night. It's a favorite destination that we return back to whenever we are in Rotorua.
P.
An amazing, beautiful place
K.
Got a little lost at first but awesome walk to awesome views
R.
The tree top walks were awesome and the kids loved it. It was great both in the day and night with friendly service. There is information on the different platforms or just enjoy the view.
E.
Great place to shred. Changed a lot in the last 4 years. New tracks and the trees are growing again over some of the older ones.
S.
Majestic forest with great walks. There are multiple options to choose a walk for any interest. A fantastic track for a morning run in Rotorua.
d.
An amazing experience and the staff are lovely. Also the information on the trees are great learning.
D.
It was a fun and interesting trip and the experience of the Zipline was very wonderful and the team was so amazing it really deserves the experience⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
M.
The only thing that let's this place down is the long line during busy times. Go on off peak times
L.
Beautiful and frash air.
M.
Lovely area with lots pf variety for different outdoor activities
S.
Possibly the best place to visit in Rotorua. The redwood forest in Rotorua is spectacular. There is an abundance of beautiful paths leading through the forest and the scenery is simply breathtaking. All paths are well maintained and the scenery is quite diverse, ranging from rainforest to little blue lakes and giant redwoods. It’s not very crowded and the best thing is: ITS FOR FREE. Don’t do the overpriced tree walk for 30$ but choose one of the many paths through the forest instead.
A.
This is an amazing place to visit.. It covers all levels of rider and members of the family
R.
This was an amazing night time experience, so long as you can manage a swing bridge or two! The light show and lanterns up in the trees added to the surreal feel. Unique!
A.
I'm not a kid but I went there, with a kids , nothing special, just a walk on skiny bridges up high between the trees, with lots of led light, and that's it...probably kids will like it...
k.
Loved this beautiful part of our country. Great tracks with differing levels depending on ability & fitness & very scenic. Rode the grade 2 Forest Loop Track which is well maintained, with short tracks that go off but loop back onto the main track for those who are adventurous. Will be back for sure.
T.
Absolutely stunning.. love how they have tracks to suit different people and cater to animals like having designated tracks for horse riding and walking your dog. The treetop walk looks amazing especially at night.
I go there for a daily walk with my kids and it's an awesome way of getting them out of the house and off technology
s.
Very awesome and the tree walk was culming
J.
Staff were really friendly, and the walk was amazing. Did both they daytime and night lights walk. Walking through and seeing the Redwood trees in among NZ forest during the day was neat - such majestic trees. At night it's like a different walk! You're transported to a place of wondrous interplay between light and dark and different colours!
A.
Thought we would give this a go and so pleased we did. We left after around 3 hours when we were only going there to check it out. It's encouraged me to get more outdoors. We did the tree walk with the extension of the 20m high walk. Would highly recommend as we did it with two younger kids and they loved it. We also did the red walk through the forest which was great fun.
I.
Absolutely fabulous. So cool. An amazing experience. See the redwoods up high
R.
We went there after the rain...and it was still beautiful and one of a kind experience. Your ticket allows you to come back for the night time treewalk. That was equally impressive. You need to be there to experience it!! Staff members were helpful amd friendly.
G.
Amazing experience. The night lights were awesome. Haven't done the day walk but I think the night experience would obviously be better.
The hanging walkways were cool. Maybe a bit thrilling as well during pitch black night time.
Must visit when in rotorua.
S.
Absolutely amazing! We did the night walk and it was spectacular. If you are afraid of heights then go for the night walk as you can't see anything below but instead be mesmerized by the beautiful lights and lanterns above.
It is child friendly and they provide a special stroller for infants FOC. 👌
S.
Most amazing night walk up in the trees
J.
Excellent park, world class mountain bike trails
W.
So much fun seeing the forest glow at night. The kids particularly enjoyed the glow worm style lights and the movie to watch while waiting. I loved the extra high parts where the bridges were lit up.
K.
This is one of the best places i have ever mountain biked. The trails are amazing and fun, and the scenery is unbelievable.
M.
Loved it. A whole range of different walking tracks, suitable for all ages. Such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.
The tree top walk was fun too (though not necessarily essential)
N.
Awesome place. Had heaps of fun walking along the trees and experiencing the wonders of mother nature.
B.
Great place one if the best parks visited
S.
Amazing place day or night.
M.
Peaceful and beautiful place where you can connect with nature.
K.
Really great!! Different gradient/distance walks depending upon time available, clearly signposted with maps. Night walks available with high rope walk looking forward to going back to explore more
J.
Went and did the night walk with the kids. Loved it!
K.
Just amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed the walk in the trees. The rest stops were very informative and we learnt the history behind the pine tree to boot! I definitely recommend that all kiwis visit when able; no matter your fitness level (or lack of like us 😬
D.
What an awesome place. So much different terrain and trails to choose from. Trail builders are doing amazing job all around. Super fun and engaging however with safety in mind, trails exceeded expectations.
k.
Such a cool place, a must to do in Rotorua
T.
Did a brilliant night time walk along the treetops with some wonderful lights around. Slightly expensive and crowded at the entrance but the sections up in the trees were well spaced out. Definitely worth doing the highest section too!
K.
Absolutely amazing! Loved the night experience. Highly recommend!
S.
A beautiful, divine and captivating walk among the trees. A must do activity in Rotorua at night time. The day walk is good for taking pictures!
P.
Good fun with family...night lights were the attraction..good staff...
R.
Worth seeing, best time is at night.
D.
Went on the elevated wire suspended walkway. Great fun... do it :)
M.
I'm not much of a climber and have a fear of heights so the suspended bridges were a bit intense but the beauty of the tree walk at night, looking down at the ferns and up at the dazzling canopy above was breathtaking and highly worth it
M.
Awesome experience! Went on a really busy night but it was worth the wait. Kids loved the suspended bridge's and the light show was very magical.
S.
Great experience! I'm not keen on heights and I'll admit to wondering what I'd got myself into after climbing the steps into the canopy.
If you're a little nervous my hint would be to go second or last, that way you have a guide in the lead or directly behind you and someone showing you how things work 🙂.
A.
Wonderfully guided through a truly beautiful settings. Kayla you rocked
S.
To avoid having to wait on long queues they should have a booking system.
The actual walk is great. Due to so many people we had very limited time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, read the information and take a pictures.
Q.
Awesome! The adrenaline, the heights , the trees, the nature. What an amazing experience.
C.
Awesome place, always have a mad time every time we visit. Filled with trails to cater to every skill level.
T.
Highly recommended to go at dusk and see the lights
K.
A must do if you are in Rotorua. You literally feel like you are in a dream or may end up feeling like you are hallucinating.
I did the night walk and it is definitely recommended. There were queues when we reached the spot due to restrictions on how many people can go on the bridge and platform at once, but it was fast moving.
If you are there, do not miss it!
M.
Perfect place for a refreshing evening walk
K.
Good
L.
Both day and night walk was spectacular! Well worth the visit
T.
Perfect place to take a walk surrounded by trees. Easy accessibility and a car park right next to the forest. There is an abundance of lovely paths leading through the scenery, and the forest is just magnificent. All courses are well preserved, and the landscapes are rather diverse. It's not extremely crowded, and the best thing is Its free of charge.
J.
Heard about this place from colleagues so have always been intending to see the redwoods forest. Enjoyed the walk through the forest and the trees are amazing. You have a choice of routes from 30 min to whole day including MTB'ing and horse riding. We came back for the night lights and walk up amongst the trees, very good and mesmerising. You need to queue which means a 45min wait as this is very popular. They close 1am in the morning but note they may close before that depending on how many are still around.
N.
Lovely nature walk through the redwood canopy. Amazing and well worth doing both day and night walks.
F.
Very good. Doesn't take much time. Can be done even if not decided earlier
A.
We didn't do the treetop walk at night as it was at least an hour long wait in line (go during the day for no/short wait times). Instead we did part of the forest walk that runs underneath the treetop bridges. It ended up being a lot of fun for the small kids!
C.
Love this place so serene, wandering among the mighty redwood trees
J.
Nice beach with pumice. Lots of walks and rides nearby.
J.
Absolutely beautiful, the forrest has a range of different tracks, for walking and biking. There was a look out point over the trees which had a great view. Great place to take the family, or a school class trip.
J.
Fresh air. Always something different to see. Great place to walk or run alone or with friends. Great place for the kids to ride bikes or walk.
S.
Redwoods tree walk at night 8s great.
m.
tried the night experience. It was really fun!
D.
Sooooo peaceful 😌
K.
A must for nature lovers. We went in the evening and were delighted to find a glowing wonderland in a gorgeous forest from high in the tree canapys. A clever use of lighting made the forest enchanted. I will definitely return. We were lucky not to have to wait too long in the cue .. this is a must see and worth the wait if you find at queue.
J.
The place like WOOOOOOOOOOOWW!!!!!!!
The view gets even better at n8.. 👌🏽👌🏽Loved it 👍🏼👍🏼
A.
Best at night, superb walk. Some people don't like the heights, but you teems to look up at night. Beautiful
h.
Great forrest! There have 2 option,
1. Bush walk btwn 1 hours
2. Pay option for sky forrest walk!
It is fun and little fear if you have acrophobia.
But still acceptable.
Have a fun and receive health fresh air with -ions haha
J.
Amazing. The Treetops Night Lights were fantastic. Got there early and only had a half hour wait. In really busy times you can wait up to 2 hours. Brilliant.
K.
If you are trying to get onto the treetop night walk, if you come too late, you most likely will have to wait in line for most of the night or you will not even be able to do the walk. Apart from this the treetop walk is a unique and interesting experience that can at first be quite daunting - which it is - but is definitely worth both the time and cost.
F.
It took 2 hours in the queues and was worth every bit. Night lights treewalk is breathtaking.
The organisers need to make the queues more efficient long wait times with kids is a big challenge. There should be timeslots available at the time of booking that would be convenient. I would still give 5 stars just for the experience and the friendly staff that is doing an amazing job keeping safety at the highest priority.
C.
Amazing experience, hundreds of mtb tracks..also great walks (long and short) for all ages even kids.
Beautiful large forest
D.
Night time walk was awesome - the lights were great!
K.
Despite the wait (which was somewhat to be expected as it is a public holiday) it was a great experience. Awesome lights, a little out of my comfort zone but was very happy that I did it!!!
K.
Awesome family day out mtb
L.
I have a love hate relationship with heights and a thin bridge that creaks. And as a big person that was my biggest fear. But the fact that it was at night, you could not see the ground and it was not too bad. I loved it, enjoyed the experience and it is so beautiful! 17 of my family members went here especially my daughter who was 1 year old walked the whole way!! Brave than her mother 😂 Must try!! Best to go at night so you can see the lights 👌
J.
Walking under the trees sheltered from the rain, steam and mist makes it very avatar.
B.
Nice variety of hikes/ paths. Our adult son enjoyed running the trails, while my husband and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll on the paths. The hiking is free so for families on a budget a great way to spend time together. (Treetop walk has a few). We went at night, and it was awesome. But you couldn’t see much other than the trubridge lamps and the barks of the closest trees. Made me wish I had gone during the day.
A.
A bit expensive for the treewalk but overall a nice experience.
J.
Brilliant.!!!.Certainly will share like they were shared to us.
D.
Top notch mountainbiking trails. Finish the visitor centre and cafe and it'll be perfect.
K.
Just a truly beautiful peaceful place
M.
We went for a night time walk. The setup is fantastic and the place was well staffed with friendly people doing an amazing job of keeping happy under difficult circumstances. On the night I went the queues were insane. We queued for at least an hour to get to the point where you are allocated a time slot. This in essence places you in a second albeit virtual queue which was just short of another hour. I don't think it is always this busy. My visit was post Christmas and post some rainy weather so all visitors turned up on the same day. Worth seeing but on the night we went, long long queues.
K.
Impressive redwoods, nice walks, not too crowded.
n.
Awesome night lights. Good buggy for walking the swing bridges and great at accommodating little ones.
Highly recommend.
J.
We were lucky enough to receive a free pass to visit here. I personally am not the most active person and was a little apprehensive about the whole situation. A fear of heights thrown in as well and I was a great big ball of anxiety. The guides made me feel so secure, the bridges are so secure, and I throughly enjoyed myself. Worked up a sweat and was just in awe of the trees, lights, lanterns and just the scenery. Highly recommend the night walk. If we had more time I would go back for the day walk. This is a serious must do when you are in Rotorua.
M.
Such a neat experience! I did the quarry trail and it was a beautiful walk, did not see many other people. Reminded me so much of the Northwest coast of Canada/USA, one of my favourite places. For those who have never had the experience of seeing a California redwood its truly a unique experience!
G.
Having been to Northern California and seen the Sequoia forests I well well relate to the smaller cousins here in New Zealand.
Beautiful trees to say the least.
Well worth taking the time to come and see.
N.
Highly recommend going here!
Tracks for all levels of fitness/abilities.
Plenty of options for prams and even wheel chairs.
Lots of free parking up and down.
There is also a dog park to take your dog off leash (dogs are able to go in the redwoods whilst on a lead too)
Such a peaceful place to go and wonder and just enjoy being immersed in nature.
Love it, there’s something very magical about being here.
A.
Serene walking treks. Stress reliever! Will help find clarity with your thoughts.
L.
An incredible playground, full native bush walks, mountain bike tracks, tree walks, great people n dog walkways... A paradise outdoor area. Love it...
N.
I went there at night time and put my headphones on with some choice music and the walk was so peaceful and calming.
One of the highlights of Rotorua.
Definitely check it out.
J.
Love it here, do the family trail and the treewalk is great but if you get motion sick do it during the day not at night. Lol
M.
A fun visit. If you go at night, plan to arrive before sunset to avoid the queue. The lights were nice, but the day time visit was equally as pleasant and much less crowded.
P.
This is such a great place, the forest walkway is awesome!
L.
You will find yourself surrounded by beautiful redwood trees here. Makes a great place for a short hike or a long walk depending on what route you choose to challenge yourself with. It seems no payment is required unless you opt to visit the treetop walk which requires a ticket for each person.
It also seems to be a very popular place with the locals. I even saw parents with children and strollers. So there really is a trail available for every age. If you feel up to it, there’s a even more adventurous trail for the more experienced hikers too.
M.
It was awesome...such majestic giants and yet they are still the babies of the forest..the night walk is really cool..well worth the trip and the ticket..
R.
The Redwood forests is a place that you will want to revisit. Whether you're going for a walk, run, cycle or trying the tree top walk ways, you've got plenty of options for all ages. Highly recommended!
R.
Fantastic, yet also chaotic. The scanning, the apathetic signage, the different indications from staff. It was one of the worst I have experienced in 70 years of living and travelling. To try and get onto the fabulous experience was mind bogglingly uncoordinated. Such a shame that the management couldn't organise it at all. The staff were doing their best, so helpful. The tree walk was fabulous, fantastic, beyond my wildest expectations. The care for the trees and the forest, the engineering that went into it. All out of this world! Thank you!
A.
The Redwoods is my spiritual home. Excellent mountain bike trails
L.
Just breathtaking. Very peaceful.
X.
Enjoyable night walk. Just have to be aware that it is a hotspot attraction so there are sometimes lines for the night walk. Pays to get a ticket online to save the hassle.
P.
Super amazing and beautiful, went for the night walk but were so many people, hundred waiting so decided not to do it but have previously done the day walk and some tracks around the forest too
j.
Absolutely a must visit when in Rororua! First time we went at night with our young grandchildren then returned the next day to do the same walk. Staff were so welcoming & safety conscience we were really impressed. Check it out for yourself! Redwood Park is just stunning & exciting.
A.
Must visit in New Zealand! But be ready for about 40 min queue if you visit night walk in holiday or long weekend.
P.
Great treks and walks through the forest. Suitable for all.
L.
A great large, extremely popular park with great tracks for walking and biking. It's so close to the city with people all around the car park, yet it's extremely easy to get away from it all and feel completely isolated.
J.
Went during the evening to fund a massive queue, and long wait, which was to be expected. The disappointing part was when we got on the tree walk, everyone on the walk were told to hurry up, keep walking etc by some overly judicious staff, which limited the enjoyment and appreciation of the experience.
K.
Loved the experience such a cool idea an place 😊
S.
Good place especially for young families
C.
We did one of the many free walking trails. You can go on a paid bridges-between-trees walk or walk on the super beautiful 100% free trails. The shortest one is 30 min (2 km) and they go up to 8 hours. My group and I loved it, even my mom who has trouble walking due to a foot injury. Highly recommended!
E.
It was so grateful to see David Trubridge lights and it's just complement with nature of Red Woods. Awesome place to visit and get close to nature.
B.
Tried booking tickets to do the walk up in the trees, but when we turned up, we were told we had to book a time slot. Which was an hour and a half later. Service was very friendly, and helpful. Would recommend to inquire about booking time slot
R.
During the day amazing. You get to see the enormity of the trees and the spectacular structures of the tree walk way. At night the light show gives another dimension
C.
This was an amazing experience. We took the blue path as we had a pushchair (stroller). Over all the path was smooth and easy to follow. The paths are well marked with coloured arrows. A water fountain is available directly behind this trail map and description. Washrooms including a family washroom is available. I love that this was free and easy to find.
N.
Amazing experience.. go walk the tightrope
P.
This was a great experience. Walking through the Redwood is peaceful, relaxing and also exercising. The night light show is also worth a visit. This could be developed some more to make it even better
G.
Whenever we visit Rotorua we go for a walk in the redwood forest. Just magic
D.
Amazing place to visit. Both the bush walks and the redwood treewalk experience. Didnt do the night walk but based on all the lights I'm sure it would be amazing. Red walk is quiet easy going.
J.
Amazing place. Definitely get the day and night ticket - well worth seeing it in the light and with the lights!
S.
Good experience, the kids loved it, I think it's a tad expensive.
R.
An amazing experience !!!
M.
Very lovely. The night walk blows the day walk out of the park! Even though the lights are unnatural, they're so well designed they it all looks so magical.
S.
Can't have a bad day here, so many tracks to ride, grippy soil even in the wet and showers in the Waipa carpark are free.
L.
Very well done and lots of interesting things to see and do
J.
Wonderful place to visit. Took just under an hour to do the walk with stops to view and read the info boards
Went back at night, was an hour wait before getting on the walk, the wait was well worth it.
Long Queue could have been because of school holidays.
A.
Hired some mountain bikes and blasted down some of the trails. Epic scenery, one of the best places to visit for free in Rotorua. Bikes where $60 for the day which wasn’t too bad. All the exercise made us feel like we had early our beers that day
J.
Brilliant. Educational. Uplifting. Peaceful. Well designed.
J.
Tracks are good to get round. The main tracks are well marked n stand up well in the wet. Good spot to go if ya need a place to get out of th summer heat
E.
Good place
J.
An unforgettable experience. The night treewalk and lights are spectacular.
G.
Wow wow wow the redwoods are amazing all on their own, to run and play in. Then they go and add an elevated walk and with lights at night. So freakn cool. Great for kids and grown up kids to enjoy.
G.
Beautiful forest. Lovely place for an easy stroll, or a longer walk or run. Also, good bet for a rainy day as we hardly got wet in the forest even with a fairly heavy drizzle.
N.
Enjoy the grandeur of these majestic trees! The park is free to enjoy. Such a peaceful place to take a stroll through. You can pay and enjoy the tree top walk.
L.
Best mountain biking and trail running around
C.
Great biking and hiking venue.
K.
Beautiful place, must-visit to check out the lightings in the night.
When it's crowded, there's a wait time though. Last weekend, we had to wait for about 2 hours in the queue to get in. So, check that before you purchase your tickets.
m.
Highly recommended, we did the night walk...fantastic
Disappointed they said no to us coming back and do the day walk the next day...kinda as per advertised, got out on a technicality, which is never cool, would have been no skin off them TBH
H.
Love my experience through the Redwoods. The best place in Rotorua to mountain bike or walk at your own pace and meet lots of interesting people.
S.
Walked twice - day and night. Very different experiences. Loved both of them. At times felt surreal.
E.
Beautiful walking tracks through lovely redwood trees. There were no really steep places but you did need to look out for roots on the path. It is a shared path between walkers runners and bikes so make sure your littles are nearby and know to stand at the side of the tracks for bikes to pass. Everyone we met were polite and were looking out for each other especially our little ones. We took a cheap stroller which managed the tracks fine. We did the Mokopuna Track which was a 3.6 km loop and completed it easily in an hour.
S.
I liked this it was fun reasonably priced and something the whole family can do. You can also take walks though the forest on the ground. The trees are incredible.
G.
Midnight magical tree top walk. Arrived earlier on the night but queue too long. Glad we came back. Still had a 30 min wait but so worth it. Lights transformed the colours of the canopy with the bridges creating a sense of excitement and adventure. Thoroughly recommend. Photo not great but a wee glimpse.
S.
If you are looking for a good trek, this place should be in your bucket list.
J.
Really liked going on the swing bridge walk. Really fun. Even got to take my 9 month old daughter with me as they provided prams.
S.
Very long queue on long weekends for night light. Better go after 9pm, you will beat the queue. Lights were on at 6pm.
N.
Beautiful tracks with good variety of difficulty ratings.
H.
This place was beautiful i really enjoyed myself
s.
Just reminded me the redwood forest of USA (Muir Woods National Monument). Must visit place in Rotorua.
Whakarewarewa Forest features a smorgasbord of Grade 1-5 tracks which all loop around two central points: the Waipa Carpark, and the visitors' centre at the Redwoods. Both trailheads are within direct riding distance from town. The network features a shorter core of trails, which are inter-linked with an outer, more distant and more technical network of trails. The 180km of tracks travel over well-draining volcanic soils, making them great for riding all-year round. Riders will enjoy undulating terrain with varying topography and fantastic scenery from the highest points of trail. Majority of the trails are so well-built they can make any rider feel like a hero and this is why the forest has become such a global mountain bike destination.
A.
A most incredible forest with an awesome tree walk especially at night. The walks throughout the forest floor are really great too. One of my favorite places to visit in Rotorua
k.
Amazing scenery well set out enjoyable walk at night and daytime. Great value for money.
C.
Great experience. Loved it.
C.
Fantastic experience. Safety is top priority. The views from each point gives one a view to really enjoy a different understanding of the bush and environment.
S.
What an amazing place to visit. With a spectacular view of the natural environment and an amazing atmosphere. The night walk is something else and needs to be experienced.
M.
The redwoods forest was really beautiful. Unfortunately we could only go on a quick stroll as it had started to get dark when we arrived. We’ll definitely be back again to go on a proper long track.
B.
Having come from the USA, we didn't expect to find a redwood forest in New Zealand. Such a relaxing walk that is soft on your feet due to the pine needle covered ground. If I was a local I would visit this often. On top of that the trails are free. We didn't do the tree walks but they look to be fun.
J.
Beautifull place so many choices of walking tracks, mountain biking or running. Usually Quite and peaceful as such a large place that even a bus load of tourist dont crowd the place out. Great for pushchairs and children as well
C.
Absolutely amazing experience. Did the night walk, however the line took around 45 minutes to reach the front. No regrets and will do it again
D.
The Redwoods exceeded all my expectations. The majestic trees were glorious and the light show as nightfall arrived was spectacular. I would love to go again.
S.
Serene, tranquil, silent and meditative. The free self tour is good enough.
R.
LOVED IT! I did the ground walk first then returned that night to do the treetop night walk. The ground walk is free, beautiful and peaceful. Didnt find it too crowded to take photos in solitude. If you like walks and nature, this is a place you cant miss in New Zealand. The treetop night walk was $35, and we got there early (twilight) as recommended by staff to experience both night and day up there. We also beat the crowd this way. I definatelu preferred the ground walk but still had a lovely time.
A.
Go in the afternoon to catch the night lights!
p.
Really good. Awesome trails and we'll signposted in regards to ability level. The kids loop is fantastic and good to see it was very well used by families.
A.
Awesome trail network, rebuilt hub at base. Has a bike hire shop along with repairs and a cafe, showers as well for $2. Very well set up. Trails are great and has a huge range for many riding types.
R.
Great experience at night. Almost felt the snow and cold air on my face as if back in Austria. Great experience almost felt Santa was around!
B.
Red woods is beautiful and a bit scary so if you're a thrill seeker this is the place for you. I would recommend going in the night rather that during the day because of the night lights
L.
A cool break from the sun under the canopy of giant redwoods. Our 4 year old loved making pretend amid the ferns while we appreciated the sound of cicadas. All for free.
K.
Love, love, love this place. Peaceful with lots of space for children to use up their energy. A lovely alternative to the street for that necessary walking exercise.
S.
Great network of trails with something for all abilities.
M.
Awesome for walking and cycling
j.
Awesome place the trees r fantastic bike rideing /walks the trees r enormous an at night walk above around the red tall timber heaps of parking
L.
Amazing place...great value. Not really for little little children and you will need some physical strength for this. Plenty of parking, no need to book basic walk. Not for anyone with physical disability, although there are plenty of ground walks also for everyone
V.
Loved it can't wait to go back and do the night walk as we didn't have time this trip.
C.
Beautiful place to be! Feels so grounding ❤️
S.
A serene forest with a range of walking trails from easy and short to longer and more difficult. There are also mountains bike trails. View the forest up high from the treetops. Takes approx 30 mins and a charge applies. You can also do this in the evening where the treetops are lit by stunning lanterns. It is cooler in the forest so bring a jacket
T.
It has two styles of entrances.
1.Free entry- You can enjoy some views and walk through redwood forest.
2.Paid entry:You may walk through walk ways which made above trees, fees vary from day and night.
Parking and toilet facilities available
C.
We are so lucky in NZ to have places like this to visit.
L.
This place is a amazing place to go in Rotorua! It's in Native, Pine and redwoods trees and there are many things to do. One of the things is mountain biking, the Redwoods mountain bike park is one of the best in NZ. You can hire a bike and go out in the massive park. Also they are many walk tracks winding it's way around the park. Also the is tree walk which you get to go on the raised platforms in the trees. This place is a special place is New Zealand!
A.
2nd visit, but with kids this time. kne kid loved it and the second one wasnt so sure about the wobbly bridges but handled the jandal ok. very cool place.
M.
A great visit Day time was a good experience Then go back in the evening for the lights absolutely brilliant Very well done Great for young and old
A.
Amazing experiences and a wonderful place for kids and dogs 🐕. There are so many activities to participate in and enjoy 😀
G.
Awesome riding, world best
L.
So easy to get to, yet walk 20 metres from your car and it's like you're in another world. Definitely worth the visit.. Would make it a definite priority for anyone visiting Rotorua.
E.
Family friendly, great place to take the kids to burn off energy. Multiple tracks for all levels of fitness.
R.
Can be a little scary but doing it at night takes away some of that fear since u can't see the ground beneath you. Definitely worth the experience!
J.
Perfect for a causal wonder thru the trees, plenty of trails ranging from 5min loops to hour+ hikes. Great scenery
S.
Great activity to do with your friends and family, conquer your fear of height
T.
Enjoyed the experience very much even though it is so high up, felt safe. Amazing! Checking out the night lights tomorrow
J.
Great day in the dog park exploring with our pup and his tiny human
L.
Fantastic night walk.
r.
The daytime walk was great; the nighttime walk (included in the very reasonable cost) was beautiful and we received a significant SuperGold card discount.
C.
It was lovely thea today. We had a coffee at the little cafe an the people thea were very friendly, they even rang an sorted a camping ground out for us as well 😁.
M.
Spectacular views that can't be found anywhere else. Great for a family trip or just individuals. Highly recommended!
K.
Here is a very beautiful place you must need to came here, take a boat or just walk and relax your mind.
this picture is lucky to shoot, we saw the rainbow, just near us few meters, wow is a fantastic moment for me for us, and we shout very loud, because maybe for us this was a first time we are close the rainbow
J.
Great afternoon in the forest this place is magical
C.
The treetop walk is a bit pricey but amazing. You can still enjoy the lights from the free walk along the ground.
C.
This place is mind blowing at night, it is a must do if your in Rotorua because if you don't you have seriously missed out on something very very cool indeed
D.
I love this place, so quiet , perfect forest for walking, running...
I highly recommend.
T.
Awesome place no matter what the weather to get outside and have fresh clean air and exercise. Great free resource.
J.
Love the bike park, well signed, trails were wonderful best riding I've ever done, was over from Sydney on a 5 day boys trip! Highly recommended!
W.
Great Place to mountain bike as the forest is filled with mtb tracks with some going for many kilometres. It's definitely worth trying Billy T, and Split Enz (although you have to bike up a massive hill to get to split enz, the view and the ride down is well worth it).

Great natural attraction.
Wish the council would give much needed TLC to the conveniences which are needing repairs.
M.
Awesome to visit at night!
K.
Perfect place to take a walk surrounded by trees. Easy accessibility and a car park right next to the forrest !
I definitely recommend to go check this place, have a peaceful moment. Nature is always gorgeous when you have time to look around
A.
Incredible. We are frequent visitors. Our kids love it and it is always on the list when we have people come to visit. Very powerful experience to walk through the redwoods and disconnect from the world. Good for the soul. Go !!!
J.
Beautifully place, lovely walking tracks! Hubby had fun biking through it later in the day too
L.
Tree top walk was great.
If doing at night it would have been nice to be warned that the wait is long. We waited 1hr45m
M.
Great during the day id gone with all the lights. Busy at night time. Babies have to go into a pram.
d.
Quite beautiful a great idea to see what happens in a forest a few metres above ground level next time want to visit the same with light show
H.
Beautiful experience doing the nightlights walk. Had to wait about 45mins in a line but overall it was worth the wait and once up there, it was not crowded at all
S.
It was pretty good at night but don't expect a Pukekura park. I preferred it in the daylight when I could see the impressive trees better.
C.
Loved this place. Great for the young and the old.
C.
Very good for evening walk
D.
The walk through the Redwoods is just lovely, but the night walk in the treetops is exceptional. Highly recommend both.
C.
Magnificent....Must go both day and night..the second visit is free.
j.
Wow wow wow is all I can say about this beautiful tucked away splice of paradise....
However 1st wow factor was for....Cost of walk/tour (well over priced)
2nd wow factor- nightly tours and walks with heaps of pretty lights high up in the trees and along the route... (nightly lights cool)
3rd wow factor- 45 min route for such a huge price, how bout letting nz people get to trial and encounter our ironic treasures at a way cheaper price as so we all can experience what seems to be only touristy people with money can endure and brag about, when us NZ'drs cant even afford to experience it ourselves just like alot of attractions around the area and thruout nz... ( such a shame)
D.
Love love love this place. Day or Night it is a great experience, night one us enchanting.
D.
California Redwoods planted and thriving in New Zealand. Wonderful. We are so glad we stopped and walked through this forest. Magnificent trees. Magical. Not just the Redwoods, but all of the Ferns as well.
L.
Such a unexpected gem of a place to visit. Night-time Skywalk was great. You know its a hit when your 9 year declares it was very cool.
R.
Amazing walk through the canopy of the Redwood trees. 25 suspension bridges .. going at might with the David Trubridge lights was magical.
W.
The mountain biking tracks go on forever. You could easily do 100km worth of riding. Professionally maintained too!
J.

Done the 6pm tree walk. A deffinant "to do" while in Rotorua at least once. Actually quite informative experience if you are into the history of Rotoruas forestry.
J.
Nice walk in the trees but you get pushed through the walk don't have time to stop at enjoy it properly
R.
One of the most beautiful spots to walk in New Zealand! Couldn’t recommend more. Bring a jacket as the temperature can feel cool with most of the walking under the Forrest canopy.
F.
Beautiful park near Rotorua for great walks and trail runs. With all the dense vegetation and the giant Redwood trees you wouldn’t believe you are just a stone through away from the city.
C.

Definitely recommend to do at night. I'd suggest waiting until 11-12pm as the line is around 40 minutes and there are a lot of children before then
P.
Excellent riding conditions always. Something for all ability levels.
N.
Night walk is great for all over 4 with no fear of rope bridges and heights.
A.
This is a nice forest experience. Redwoods planted here have led to a more exotic flora; different from the more "jungaly" NZ bush.
A.
I did the 1 to 2 hours short walk in the forest in a frosty June morning. It was a wonderful experience walking amidst such majestic trees!
M.

The most amazing place to walk, run or ride only wish some dog owners would read the rules and put dogs on a leash, not keen on them running at me when I'm on a bike!
A.
Really liked it there. Fresh and rejuvenating walk. I haven't try the walk on the tree top, but I'm sure it's great
