M.Fantastic morning out with Mitch and the team. We did the Family rafting as we have a 3 and 6 year old. Both boys loved it...and it wasn't boring as we had feared! Just enough rapids to keep them interested and Mitch kept them engaged - allowing us to stand up through some, go backwards and do donuts on others. Awesome experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to other families with young kids.
1.This was one of the best experiences I have done in a long time. Value for money for sure. Our guide Mitch went above and beyond in my opinion, he was fun, knowledgeable and you could tell how much he enjoys and love his job. Will definitely be coming back.

T.Awesome morning adventure! Family Float Rafting... Loved every thing about it, Mitch was very informative during our rafting, learnt new things along the way, we even got to paddle more than a few times which was really good, fun and exciting for the three of us that had never been on the river!

H.Went on a family rafting and we all had a good time. Our guide (Johnny) was awesome with the boys. I definitely recommend it. I would definitely repeat. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars was because when I looked on web page the information said we would get digital photos and a 360° video included in price and we only got group pictures taken at the end and no video. We had a sports camera with us but we left it in our car by mistake, we didn't worry thinking that we's get some action pictures and the videos.. a shame. They could have warned us beforehand so wr got our camera.

T.Brilliantly run operation. Fantastic guides with excellent equipment and knowledge. We rafted the July school holidays, mid winter and had an awesome time and stayed warm with the gear we were kitted out in. We did the Grade 3 as a party of 2 adults and 3 children and we all had a blast with it being the highlight of our holiday!!

My daughter was so scared and even cried for the first few minutes but Brayden was really great and finally got her comfortable. She ended up really enjoying the experience. It was a really great introduction for the kids with a good balance of excitement and relaxing to look at the scenery - we got to see a pair of blue ducks and hear about the conservation project to protect them. Our guide was entertaining and informative - we rated him 6 out of 5 stars 😉
L.Fantastic outfit and worth every dollar. Great equipment, awesome guides, jokes galore and overall one of the best things to do around here. Even in winter the problem wasn’t being too cold, it was being too hot with the thermal gear they give you.
C.A great afternoon spent rafting along the Tongariro River. Eventhough it was raining it was still a great experience, great for the whole family as its a bit scarey at some points and very gentle at others, great instructions from Nick our guide and good chat if you end up going alone like i did, still an enyoyable experience. We also got a nice chocolate fish and hot chocolate along the way which was well needed. Then when you're back to base they feed you with a good spread of cold meats, cheese and salad sandwiches as well as tea and coffee, what more could you want? :)
M.Absolute legends. My kids are 8yrs & 10. It was their first time doing white water rafting & they LOVED IT! The team at TRR are attentive, professional & make the experience alot of fun. We will be back!
F.We only took the ebikes out for half a day. We had an awesome day out on the bikes. I recommend hiring if your not really into biking. They are so easy to ride. The Tongario River Track however, is not for the faint hearted. Great track but if heights is your weakness, probably not for you.

S.Staff is INCREDIBLY nice. The views while rafting were amazing. After we were done. We didn’t have enough! We decided to go biking and which they ended up gifting to us for free. I’m not sure if that’s what they already do but it was my boyfriends birthday so it was a very special treat.

S.An incredibly professional and friendly rafting company, arguably perfect for your first rafting experience. It's a very technical section of the river which you raft for over two hours, so you will learn some great new skills.
I will say that the nearby Kaituna River is better if you want a shorter rafting trip with a serious shot of adrenaline (the water equivalent of a rollercoaster), but if you want a chance to enjoy the beautiful landscape around you with literally dozens of smaller rapids, these are definitely the guys and girls to go with on the Tongariro River.

G.What a fantastic day and an Oarsome experience. We booked as a treat for our work team to say thank you for all their hard work and had the best experience ever. All of our Team finished wet, exhilarated and with huge cheesy grins at the experience we just had. With a fantastic guide in Rennie and awesome scenery to fantastically huge trout lots of fun rapids. I can definitely recommend this trip to anyone who wants to give rafting a try. Finished the day with a warm up at the hot pools and then the best home made tomato soup and bread before heading home. Well done guys and thanks for an awesome trip. Will definitely be coming back for more.
J.A very professional company. We had a great guide who knew how to manage a diverse group such as ours. The mountain bike track was very tricky for beginners. The lunch was a delicious sandwich with snack bars and hot drinks. The river rafting was fun and our guide had good knowledge of the rapids and the river. We would recommend this trip to others.

B.My extended family (10 of us) came along and had an awesome day. My raft had Gypsy and he was great! We felt super safe and comfortable while also having a fun time. They provided hot drinks and chocolate fish half-way through as well as soup and bread when we returned which was really top-notch and a nice surprise! Can't recommend enough :)

We had a fantastic time with our guide Justin. He is very experienced and knowledgeable guide as well as full of passion in water rafting. We did cliff jump, boat spin and "fly" on the rock. Lol.
And we hire a bike from them after the water rafting for the Tongariro River Trail, they provide a good quality bike and the trail rides was so pleasant.
Thanks to the young pretty lady from the reception (forgot to ask her name) for all the info and bike hire, and thanks for the yummy sandwich and hot drink after the water rafting.

J.What a great trip! Great guide, great rapids, and the hot soup was a great way to warm up afterwards. A real must do rafting trip when you get the chance!

Biking: The 16km river ride starting in Turangi took us a little over 2 hours with our kids. It was a wee challenge for our youngest (8 years old) but we finished and had fun. You can do shorter lengths if you wanted too. The bikes were all in good shape, with front suspension.
Rafting: we had a lot of fun on the adult grade 3 (leaving our 8 year old with mum!). It’s a great experience all round with good, friendly service and reliable equipment. It’s not a scary or challenging river for most people, but it was super enjoyable.
T.A fun, happy and safe experience. It's my first ever water rafting and felt very nervous at the beginning. Our guide Mitch is very gentle and knowledgeable. He guided us through the rapids smoothly and I start enjoying the activities soon after. Crystal clear water views all the way. Awesome way to explore our beautiful back country. Love the free photos, professionally taken. Definitely worth the money.
Y.Hired Bikes from here on a nice sunny day on 01 august for the 8 of us. The bikes were in Excellent condition, the place is quite close to starting point of the river track, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the gear. Responded quickly to my phone inquiry. Would highly recommend.

I wouldn't normally take part in an activity like this again, but if I had the option I would definitely return to Tongariro River Rafting.
M.My brother and I took our 84 year old father raft fishing with Garth Oaken on the 16th December 2017. We had the best day ever, the fishing was world class with 7 trout caught and released and many strikes.
Every part of the day was special, Garth looked after us so well from explaining all sorts of interesting facts about the river and surrounding areas as well as giving us the best raft fishing experience you could ask for. I totally recommend this trip for all ages...

And we really enjoyed participating in and supporting their Blue Duck conservation program. They feed you before you take off, cover you in plenty of gear to keep you warm, provide you with treats and hot chocolate mid-trip, and sandwiches upon return. Every single employee we interacted with was extremely nice and helpful.

M.A great thing to do if near Tongariro or Taupo and would highly recommend. Wasn’t at all scary and am keen to do more rafting now. Really professional and knowledgeable staff and our guide Mitch has a lot of good stories. They also sent us photos which we hadn’t expected as a nice bonus.

C.Fantastic experience! First time rafting with 2 kids so we chose the family rafting. Great fun! Not cold at all even though it was in the middle of winter. Our guide Finn was funny and energetic and helpful, kids loved him! Would definitely recommend and come back for more experience in the future.

B.Tongariro River Rafting is so much fun. The guides are really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We had a fantastic time. You can do this activity in any weather. Scenery is beautiful.
D.We did the blue duck conservation raft trip with Evan and Dan. A once in lifetime experience, with great guides on a beautiful river. The Blue Ducks stole the show and we assisted with checking the traps to increase the odds that the Blue ducks will survive and thrive. The water is class three and provides a wild but safe ride. 5+ stars.

All under the one roof, I would absolutely recommend this for all ages!! AMAZING!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!

M.I had such a great time on my first white water rafting trip. The staff were all so friendly and knowledgeable . My guide was Rene and he kept us safe, shared interesting information about the river, and really put me at ease because I was feeling pretty nervous. They provided all the necessary gear in a variety of sizes to fit all body types. Rene said that in the past he’s had groups that didn’t speak English. Also there were people who came solo, but folks are friendly so it’s easy to make friends on this trip. They really try to accommodate different medical conditions. Our time on the river was equal parts exciting and peaceful. It felt like such a privilege to see parts of the river that usually aren’t easily accessible any other way. This tour company did a really great job taking care of my friend and I. I highly recommend white water rafting with them.
B.Such great value in so many ways! Brandon was our guide and he was so reassuring to the kids 7, 10 keeping them happy and entertained. We saw many endangered Whio blue ducks, fantail and trout. Was winter but we were all rugged up warm so don't be put off by the time of the year. Such a beautiful river, great way to explore it.
We then took the mountain bikes out for a fab afternoon, swam at the hot pools under the stars and topped off by reviewing the fun photos=what a package! Thanks team for such a fun day.

M.Such good fun we had a big group (17) and they fit us in and managed us well. All the instructors were great and and super knowledgeable about the river and area treated to some hot choc and sandwiches after. Would definitely recommend!

Unfortunately, the whole video didn't turn out good (the camera ankle was not correct...) - but that's the only point I would change during the rafting trips.

C.Brilliant! Enjoyed this wonderful river along with experienced guides who gave insight on the area, talked about the history of the river, and told sadly hilarious jokes. Had complementary hot chocolate and chocolate fishes on the river, and free sandwiches after rafting. They offer wetsuits, shoes and fleeces so no need to worry about bringing your own kit, apart from your swimwear. The guides give you full information on what to do when capsized or other such things, and put safety of their customers first. Thank you!

J.This was a fantastic adventure! Absolutely worth the time and money. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and made it a great experience. Some of the people on our tour had never rafted before and she was able to guide them through it just fine. Good for any skill level but a very enjoyable river for those with more experience as well. I believe it's class 3 to 4. The company provides gear to keep you warm, so don't worry about that. There is also a place in the facilities to change, store your items, etc.

l.Loved this experience. Made to feel so welcome on arrival and did not expect the level of service we got. The gear you get given is great and kept us all warm. Then we went rafting which was made so much fun by our instructor. We jumped off the dingy and floated down the river drinking hit chocolate and eating chocolate fish. Something I will never forget. Then after the rafting you get taken to a thermal pool which was perfect then back to base for some soup and bread. This was my highlight of New Zealand 😁 thank you.
P."paddle hard" from the beginning of this adventure to carrying the raft to the trailer. Scenic, peaceful, loads of native birds and untouched bush. The voice of the guide leading us through rocks and rapids with skill, knowledge and laughter. Hot Raro and chocolate fish on the half way point. I will go back and do the Tongariro River again. Y.These guys offer the most professional service I've ever had. They offered to pick me up from my local stay and brought me all the way to their shop about almost an hour away. Lunch was also provided after the river rafting tour. Our guide handled us all amateurs extremely well, after 10 mins of rafting everyone felt like good friends! J.This has been one of the best adventure trip in NZ. Firstly, Tau, the guide is awesome and knows the river so well. He made the entire trip so safe and so fun at the same time. We had fun spinning around rocks and still felt totally safe! The hardest part of the entire trip was getting into the fleeces and wet suits!!! The rest of the day was just exhilarating and so much fun. You will get to see the Blue Ducks, a rare duck (rarer than the Kiwi!), some beautiful views along the river, and talk about prisoner escaping by the river. Mid way through the trip, you will get a chance to jump off the cliff into the river. All fun and safe! Then drink hot chocolate on the raft and eat chocolate fish.
The whole trip was well planned. Good photos will be taken of you and it even includes a video.

Our guide was fantastic, was very informative and she encouraged us to ask questions about the river, the area and wildlife she was a helluva rafter. He gave us clear instructions yet still made the trip very fun. Hot chocolate and chocolate fish a great personal touch.
We would absolutely use Tongariro River Rafting again and certainly recommend to visitors to the area. A fantastic trip and the chance see a part of the Tongariro River that cannot be visited any other way.
M.What a nice experience this was. Even though I was the only one that had to be picked up, they were still so kind to pick me up and drop me off that my hostel. From the first moment you arrive, you feel the great atmosphere due to the lovely staff. The rafting itself was great with some awesome scenery along the way. Everything was provided for our adventure, all I needed to bring was swimming clothes and myself. We were given a wetsuit, fleece top, wetsuit shoes, a life jacket, and a helmet.
The guide was calm and excellent at piloting the raft, and I felt safe the whole time.
The guide had great local knowledge about the region and the wildlife.
After the rafting we were provided with towels and a lunch spread which was great.
I.We had a great river rafting! Our guide was proffesional and coached us down the river. She told us a lot about the river and it's history. The suroundings was beautiful and there was a lot of great falls. We had so much fun!

J.We had an awesome, oarsome experience today. Two mature couples who should know better ventured way outside their comfort zone and had the best experience with our talented guide Jacky. She brought out the best in us and somehow guided us down 13km of the river on a level 3 of 5 rapid ride and turned us from an epileptic spider into a well oiled machine. Such fun and the best value for money in the whole of NZ. We definitely would recommend this highly to you and you are unlikely to have the coldest day of the season that we survived.

a.Number 1 place to go rafting! The guys were experienced, friendly and made the day an overall fun and epic experience which, for the price, you can't beat. We were welcomed by Ben and Garth (who are the friendliest guys in town) with tea and coffee and were given a run down of the day and then set off on the bus to the river. I have done rafting experiences all over the world but I have to say this was by far the most fun and the instructor definitely made it! There were a couple of hairy moments but Ben was always in complete control. This coupled with the beauty of the river and the guides knowledge of the river and its wildlife made this an experience we will never forget! Thanks guys!!!

G.This river is a level three river. Our guide told us there were 44 rapids in our 2+ hours float. We've done other floats as long, but without as many rapids; keeps the float exciting. Rene did a great job guiding the boat and chatting with the guests. After the rafting, we had lunch of sandwiches, salad, dessert and hot chocolate. They also provided the opportunity to buy photos they took of your rafting adventure.
C.We loved every minute, from the safety brief to riding the rapids. An awesome ride with a great guide who kept us totally entertained and safe. I would recommend this to everyone to give it a go.
S.Highly recommend this incredible experience! We got lucky and were on a small trip of only 6 people. Our guide, Johnny, was informative, skilled, and best of all very funny! It's quite cold this time of year but they had enough gear to keep us very warm, a few of us even took off some of the items due to being too hot. They were accommodating and carried medication with them in their dry bag without issue. Afterwards we got to soak in thermally heated pools and ate some soup. Tasha, who works the front desk, was also super informative! I'd say it takes some level of fitness, but should be fine for most people.
P.One of the best rafting trips Ive been on. The whole experience was so easy to book and everyone was so friendly and helpful. I had a great time and really enjoyed the trip out onto the water plus getting to enjoy the hot springs and hot food afterwards to warm up which is a brilliant added touch by the company!!! 10/10 would recommened and do again! =]
K.We had SUCH a good time white water rafting here. Our guide, Angus, was fantastic - had all kinds of fun facts about the area and the reason some rapids are named as they are. The rapids are a bit more tame (level 3) but are pretty nonstop. It's a great option for someone new to river rafting or even if you're experienced. Definitely a must-do if you're staying in the area.

B.I love tour operators who put people first, and Garth and the Tongariro River Rafting team clearly do that.
My experience began with a ride around the Tongariro River Trail. I was provided with a quality e-bike, helmet and map and was sent off feeling comfortable about the adventure ahead of me. The trail is fantastic, no significant challenges, shared with walkers and anglers and offering fun for all skills of all ages. Riding over the suspension bridge and getting the views of Turangi was a highlight.
Then it was into the cold water gear to hit the rapids. Our guide To was sensational. Knew his stuff, communicated with passion and had us covered every step of the way. You're well looked after with again, high-quality gear and experienced local knowledge.
The Tongariro River has to be experienced to be believed. Over 60 rapids across the 13km run, it's impossible to not be immersed in the beauty of the river. The trip itself was just sensational - To brings along hot chocolate for a mid-run break, along with chocolates to munch on. We also had the chance to see the Whio (Blue Duck) and Rainbow Trout on a few occasions. There is the chance to get out and swim and the footage they capture (including 360 degrees from a GoPro Fusion) are great for memories. Lastly, you wrap up by being driven to Tokaanu to warm up again in the thermal pools before returning back to the shed for warm soup and bread. Just an unreal complete experience.
I honestly can't recommend this team of legends enough. Seriously, a must do adventure for your trip to the Lake Taupo region.
D.This is a great team. We are both over 70 and Jen, Tori and Jimmy looked after us so well. Quite an experience for us but these guys are so friendly and sociable and caring. No cotton wool stuff though. This is just one great experience and best value for money you can get if you need a bit of adrenalin. We've done a few exciting things in our lives but this tops everything.

E.we were picked up by Jimmy on time and headed to the main office where we were given Warm Wet suits and this was so comforting as it was a cold rainy day...We headed to the River to conquer 64 rapids that were stronger as the water level was high...what a thrilling experience it was with a fantastic team and the best Guides ever Ryan and Gin...Ryan not only sailed thru the rapids but entertained us the whole way..it was so much fun...and not to forget the hot oasis we were taken to for a warm bath and the hot welcoming tomato soup that was served to us when we were famished at the end of the trip
overall it was a memorable day and and unforgettable rafting experience..Ryan Jimmy and gin ull guys are the best
