P.Pretty decent place to stay. Room are clean, service is good. Staff are friendly and efficient. They struggled a bit going to red and having to change procedures for a conference group, but that was just something to be reasonable about. I'd book here again, waking distance to CBD and lots of places to eat. Grab the Tram.
M.Above and beyond! Just wanted to give a shout out Julia and her team. We recently stayed at the Rydges and found the beds very comfortable. The team helped us order the same mattress for our home. This is kiwi hospitality at its finest. Highly recommend.
D.Have been for breakfast buffet at Bloody Mary restaurant based in Rydges Hotel. The staff was amazing and food was just great. Usual continental and cooked breakfast with great assorted juices and quality espresso coffee. If you are in Christchurch highly recommended place for breakfast as well great steak House at night. ❤️

M.Friendly staff nice venue we were part of a golfing tournament for an awards dinner. Breads & condiments were nice however main a long wait & meats came out last by which time most of us had eaten the side dishes. Also beef was tender but dry.

However, the 2 floor frontage needs repair or replacement.
No information on when this will reopen, but the building is shown as part of the planned Convention Centre development, which will include hotels.

J.I can only speak to the conference facilities as I was staying off site. The Rydges team were outstanding in providing support during our conference as well as a tidy up between the days. The venue itself was spacious and felt private from other events. The food was pretty good too 😉 The only thing to note is you're limited to what you can stick to the conference room walls (large poster post-its are fine). A wonderful conference at a wonderful venue, thanks team!
R.Amazing experience from check in to departure. I've never come across more professional and friendly reception staff. We stayed for two nights in one of the Premier Exclusive rooms with a bath and it was super comfortable. The restaurant Bloody Mary downstairs continued the incredible service and highly recommend booking a table for at least one night of your stay.

Little touches like when one lift is called up the other goes down - just excellent user experience design. Quiet, and you can control the temp in your room. Just amazing. And the rates where excellent too - have paid the same to stay in real dives in NZ. This is a class hotel. If its had a pool I would give it six stars! Thank you team - excellent work.
A.Just ok really. A solid 3 star hotel that misses the mark a little just for some poor execution desisions. Some aspects of the rooms are really nice, but overall it's a bit odd for a recent build. Things like the carpets feel just a bit cheap, odd and cheap furniture choices, beds just slightly oddly positioned in the room and the TV opposite offset from the bed so it's a bit odd to watch.
A perfectly nice stay though.

P.Rooms are nice but the bathroom is a little on the small size. With the bathroom door open, the toilet is touching the door. If your partner wants to come in to use the sink or shower, you can't open the door fully without smashing your knees
K.For a 4 star hotel it was disappointing. Rooms were nice and spacious but for the price $244 a night wasnt up to par. No mini bar - breakfast was OK but invidual items were not good - hash browns hard as rock overcooked - mushrooms shrivelled up and dry. Def not $27 standard,

S.Lovely ambience and genuine staff! We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and a free upgrade/vouchers for the bar as it was our honeymoon. The facilities are clean and renovated and you are given access to the gym and laundry room during your stay which is super convenient. Location is about 7minutes walk from the central area but walk is easy and lovely as there is a park you could walk across. Otherwise, there is free parking provided with plenty of space which is just as awesome for people travelling with cars. We did not have the breakfast as Christchurch is full of great food and coffee. Definitely makes your travelling much more comfortable and homely thanks to the amazing staff!
d.Disappointed in deluxe room for the weekend. We expected abit more comfortable furnishings. The bed was irritating in that the bedding didn't fit the super large bed, the pillows too flat. Tea and coffee in the room were low standard. Towels were worn with frayed edges. Staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast did have a good range of foods but coffee served with breakfast was charged to the room. Not good value for the weekend
d.Very clean. Nice sized room we have 2 king beds and lots of room to move round. Good shower nice pressure. Breakfast is good buffet style we had it included in room price . Highly recommend walking distance to town and a park with water activities

I was staying in the penthouse and the complimentary champagne was a nice touch and the suite was divine despite the issues with the scuff marks on the walls the cleaners failed to adress. Complimentary coffee and tea was satisfactory with a coffee machine in the penthouse suite.
H.It was so clean and spotless that we had to check when the hotel was built because we were convinced it must be brand new! The location was superb being walking distance from Christchurch hotspot. The gym facilities were spotless, cool and quiet too.
The only negatives were that they took a $50 bond for each night we were staying there even though we had already paid for the rooms which is something we've never had to do at any other Rydges hotel and because of this we couldn't charge anything to our room which was odd. Also, they didn't ever provide us with cutlery both times we stayed. The Bloody Mary hotel restaurant was super pricey but seeing as you are a 5 minute walk away from the city centre that isn't too bad.

l.Best place to stay. Amazing staff beautiful room and the restaurant on property will rock your socks off. Its a bit expensive though for dinner so it was not afgordable to dine there every night but you could.
M.Beds comfey. Room Clean. Checkin staff great. Bar staff very grumpy and uncommunicative - stayed 2 days and same attitude every time. Wouldn't describe Hotel as "luxury" as advertised. We booked Premier room. No bathrobes. Minibar items requested not available. Skinny little 2 seater couch for 2 people to squeeze together on and no other furniture. No details provided for SkyTV etc. No room service breakfast offered for early departure or stay-in-room. Hotel would suit if you are on a business visit and on the run, but if you want a few treats away from home, if its cold/bad weather and you want to stay in and think you are booking a luxury room/hotel, I would look elsewhere.
J.Nice hotel with comfortable room and great bed. Restaurant in house - Bloody Mary's is excellent. BUT Hotel staff need a rev up. They have a "no we can't" rather than "sure we can attitude" . Generally pretty unhelpful. Hotel parking for a high end facility is dismal and chaotic. No valet service and inadequate availability for guests leaving one searching the streets to park. They need a better method. Breakfast seating is also abysmal and chaotic with staff suggesting that guests share tables. Some attention to detail and general hospitality is needed here.

K.Here for a conference with morning tea and lunch provided. I was trying to be healthythis week(!!!) So asked if i could have the gluten free option. They were very accommodating. The staff in the restaurant were very quick and polite. The food was scummy. Coming back for dinner again.

But make sure you check the room they give you, as for over $350 you don't want to be looking at a concrete wall outside your hotel room! Yes seriously. There are a few that look at a white wall!

v.We attended a conference last weekend, stayed for lunch, tea and breakfast. All superb quality, room, service, bar all loved so much we went back yesterday for lunch 💜
S.The room was simple, but elegant and perfect for a stay. Service was lovely at check-in and check-out. We had the full breakfast, which I ate far too much of! The selection was brilliant, the poached eggs perfect and the juices were a nice touch in the reusable bottles (yay for recycling ♻️) All in all, a perfect choice for our Wedding night stay.
S.Stayed here for work for one night, lovely hotel. No bath in my bathroom for anyone who wants one. Spacious room and excellent service. Just don't let your Uber driver drop you off at the old rydges!!!

Clean rooms . Everything you would expect from a Rydges hotel. Although We did have to pay for our coffee with our included breakfast.
J.The room was great, quiet, comfortable and clean. The bed and pillows were also fantastic. Breakfast and dinner were great. Staff were professional and courteous however lacked warmth. With a welcoming heartfelt smile on check-in the whole mood would have been enhanced. Overall if staff were friendlier the score would jump to a 4-5.

A.Got an upgrade to a bigger room when the check in manager realized there’s 3 of us. However one of the days our room wasn’t cleaned at all and that was disappointing. Beds comfortable. Bloody Mary’s food is good. Overall functional place.
B.Good quality hotel in great location. Rooms are very comfortable and modern. Bar/Restaurant area pleasant however extremely noisy with bar patrons, particularly between 6pm and 8pm. Not over conducive to enjoying a relaxing evening meal. Reception area a real dogs breakfast, particularly around 9.30am - Noon with check-out and arrivals congregating, making negotiating your way through even to get to the entry/exit difficult at best. Regardless, would recommend the hotel as being excellent amenity and value having regard to the amount of rehabilitation still to be achieved in Christchurch.
C.Parking lot isn’t nearly big enough to accommodate everyone but you’re able to park on the streets around without much trouble. Large rooms and having Tesla destination chargers is what makes this 5 stars instead of 4 stars. Well done on that!

S.Great location close enough to the city to not be away from the office with your secretary for long enough to raise questions but far enough away that you will not run into Co-workers on lunch.
Good car parking, clean rooms, onsite bar and Conference facilities so you have every excuse for a work meeting or whatever excuse for the credit card bill when the wife checks.
Close to the Cardboard Cathedral so you can ask forgiveness afterwards and a nice green park so you explain being tired to the wife ad you went for a run post conference.
FYI I was there for a training event, the AC managed the room and people numbers well so not hot and sticky.
g.I went there for a seminar and a Christmas event. The meeting room was big room we had almost 150peoples and it wasn't too crowded. Good video projector and sound across the room. They served lunch which was well run and good quantity and the staff was friendly.
j.my room was comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast in the main restaurant was the best restaurant buffet breakfast I have ever had - anywhere - particularly liked the fish cakes and hash browns - and there was so much choice!! staff were friendly and helpful. conference facilities were great - temperature control was great in all areas and sound systems were excellent. first time i have ever been to a dinner/event and felt comfortable all evening, and accoustics great as I could hear my fellow guests over the music. Only picky point - my chicken at the gala dinner was a bit dry - and where was the sauce?

Stayed here for business over the last few weeks but would happily book here under most circumstances.

J.The staff are friendly and professional. Accommodation is great as is the services. It would be good if they could fix their curtains so that when you close them there is no gap and manually closing them is a hassle. All round though it is a very good hotel.

Had the special steak dinner in their restaurant - this is only available Wednesday and Sunday - mouth-wateringly delicious. There was a massive array of food laid out for breakfast - cooked or continental.
s.I stay here when visiting CHC for work. The location is perfect to walk into town and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are well kept and modern, and the amenities are easily accessible. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the lack of dietary options available on the menu in the in-house restaurant. When ordering I asked for what could be made vegan but even the fries are cooked in animal fat as standard. The staff were helpful however and the chef very kindly made me a separate batch in vegetable oil and steamed some greens for me. This was lovely of them, I just wish they had a couple of standard options to choose from instead of getting food specially prepared.

R.Stayed for 1 night wih my 7 year old daughter before heading to Hamner. Friendly staff, great location not far from an amazing playground and walking distance to shops and cafes etc..
Room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom and decent shower.
Was unsure to order room service but little one was tired so I took a gamble. The scallops were cooked perfect and risotto was tasty. The cauli soup was yum!
Used the gym too had more than the basics and got a good workout in!

J.This hotel is ideally located for the centre of the city. The staff are attentive and polite, rooms are quiet and comfortable, breakfast is good as is the food in the restaurant in the evening - great steaks! There is a good sized car park too which is handy.

The rooms and food are good but the extra attention are what will keep me coming back!

S.The rooms are very large and the air conditioning is strong but quiet. The bathrooms are clean and roomy, though the water temperature fluctuates quite a bit. The internet is consistent but slow, expect basic YouTube but not a lot more, like Netflix is a stretch.

V.Worth the booking if you're after a warm, cozy place. Excellent amenities, great customer service. The breakfast buffet can spoil your tummy to overflowing.
T.The wife and I arrived at the Hotel on a motorcycle probably looking the worse for wear having been riding all over New Zealand for 16 days. No judgement was made on our appearance and we were treated very well on our arrival. It seems nothing was too much trouble. I decided to use the Hotels Wi fi to book onto our flight the next day and needed to have a hard copy of the boarding passes and the were helpful by printing them off after I emailed them to them. I also needed to contact my tour operator and they facilitated this when I was unable to do this myself. Ryan at the reception was also most informative about what was worth seeing locally.
We did eat from the Bar menu on the evening and the food was good aside from the chips (you need to look at them guys they were not the best).
Breakfast was excellent and the staff on the serving side were attentive and busy making sure the eating area was as it should be. Bar staff were also friendly one young lady was busy on the morning doing other work and rather than just let me wait around she let me know that there would be a little delay in getting our coffees to us. When she did bring the coffees she apologised for the delay and asked if there was anything else we needed. Would I use this hotel again? Yes it would be first on my list if I visited and stayed over in Christchurch again.
P.This was our second stay at the hotel in the past two weeks. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The bar area is lively with a good choice of bar food at reasonable prices. Breakfast choice in the restaurant is very good. On our second visit recently we were lucky enough to be on the top floor with lovely views of the port hills. Lots of parking and wifi is good. Easy walk into Christchurch city centre. Very good value for money. If we are visiting Christchurch in the future we will be back. Worth joining the Rydges loyalty programme which is free, Pat & Debbie

g.This was my third stay. I find your staff great, especially the bar and restaurant staff. The rooms are OK, a little sparse and clinical. The restaurant menu is not as good as on previous visits, the prices to me are very expensive and not representative of range and quality offered. Has there been a change in restaurant management?
S.Friendly and helpful staff. High standard of cleanliness. Gym with all the basic equipment (treadmill, rowing mach etc.) The bar and restaurant attached (Bloody Mary's) is excellent.
A.Stayed in room 1.31 over queens bday weekend, the mattresses in that room needs to be replaced. We have had a bad back after the first night on their Bed Mattress. Everything else was superlative. I spoke to David by phone a few days after we got back home, he is in there front office and he confirmed their mattresses are replaced regularly however the room we stayed in was one of the ones that had not been assessed for replacement and he advised a large number had been replaced already with Elite Mattresses which is the same as what we use at home, he also confirm his GM advised for this to be investigated and assessed, so on the ball game; you will get a perfect sleep if you book and sleep on one of these Elite Beds. Thanks for getting back to me to confirm you were not aware of some of your room Mattresses still needing to be assessed and replaced, I highly recommend a stay in this Hotel and if you have any backpain from the beds to make them aware so they can have it investigated and assessed.

L.I attended a one day workshop at Rushes. The room was set up well, with tea coffee and water provided. The staff were very efficient and accommodating. A light lunch was provided of wraps, bread, fruit and cakes.
D.Once again, Rydges has delivered a fantastic experience. The check in was painless, in fact, I was able to do this on line. The room was immaculate and the Bloody Mary's restaurant was flawless in its' delivery of a beautiful butchers board with 3 excellent cuts of meat.

G.I arrived early so didn’t expect my room to be immediately available. It wasn’t, but the reception staff promised to call me when it was ready. They failed to deliver on this, so at 2pm I enquired if I could get my key, which they immediately offered. I was annoyed I hadn’t been called.
The rooms are large and comfortable. I was in the ground floor, which I was ok with as I was o my staying 1 night.
I arrived 10 minutes after their kitchen closed, at 10:10pm, and asked if I could get food. Rather than check with the staff, I was offered a robotic “kitchen closed” response. To be fair, they explained the room service menu could be used, but I wanted to eat in the bar, not stink out my room. Eventually they agreed to serve me a pizza. This pizza was a pretty poor incarnation, so I’d suggest avoiding these items.
It’s a good hotel that could further improve through simple things like service.

A.Chose to stay here one night for our wedding anniversary since we knew they had an excellent restaurant. We were not disappointed. The hotel has been rebuilt after the 2011 earthquake which devastated the city so it is modern with all you need from a four star hotel. Only possible thing missing might be a pool of some description. The staff are very helpful & friendly with nothing too much trouble. The rooms are spacious, although the bathrooms fairly small. Free wifi is fast and unlimited for 2 devices. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others looking for a reasonably priced decent hotel in Christchurch.

The breakfast buffet selection is fantastic, the eggs were perfectly poached and bacon crispy.
The layout makes it easy to get what you want to eat without waiting too long when it's busy and the juice bottles are a unique touch. The coffee from the barista was really nice and the staff are very friendly.

J.Very nice hotel. It's clean, and the staff is friendly. The gym has a little more to offer than some of the hotels that I've stayed at in New Zealand. It's close to all sorts of restaurants, bars, and shops. It's also within walking distance to the botanic gardens.
Only two very small complaints.
1) The internet is very slow. It's also free though, so I can't complain too much.
2) There isn't a ton of parking. This wasn't a huge deal for us. We got lucky and got the last available spot, but I haven't seen very many open spots the rest of the time that we've been here.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

S.I stay at this property for a single night several times a year. As befits a near-new, purpose-designed building, a lot of things are better than average. There are plenty of power points; the WiFi is of good quality; bathroom / shower excellent; great-quality king beds. A refurb has begun, with improvements to decor to soften the somewhat 'industrial' initial fit-out. This is a very welcome addition, and moves the rooms up to firmly upscale. It is good to see the same faces in the hotel's crew from visit to visit. For as long as I frequently visit Christchurch, Rydges Latimer will be my stay of choice.

o.On arrival ( booked online) our request for twin beds was not known, but helpful staff arranged our twin beds. Room only had 1 milk in fridge, but on our way out later in evening requested more milk; staff arranged that while out. On checkout asked in we used anything from the room mini-bar, said no , then informed that we had something from our first night. This was nil. My conclusion is that housekeeping slipped up and did not check minibar on the previous occupants checkout

J.We stayed two nights at Rydges Latimer Christchurch recently. We really enjoyed our stay, we found the desk staff and restaurant staff were friendly and did all they could to make our stay a great experience. Unfortunately the cleaning of our room was not so great. The overflow hole in the hand basin was dirty as to the back of the toilet bowl required better cleaning. The bottle opener was covered with greasy hand prints. Our room was serviced but the bed was left with wrinkled sheet. We found this to be disappointing and didn't want to be negative but we felt let down as these are basic requirements.
A.Great location. Clean and tidy. Bloody Mary's a must.
