A family favourite of ours. Dogs are welcome (one of the few places in NZ you can take your k9 along). This is grass roots skiing at its best. A couple of pummers for the kids and also t bars. No chairs but that’s ok. The drive up requires confidence in driving and YES you will need chains and 4x4 especially if snow is fallen recently.

Any awesome day up the hill. The warm friendly club field atmosphere just tops it. No crowds compared to the big commercial fields as well. And dogs 2😁

We had a great time up there. Well worth going here to ski great area for kids and nice runs for beginners and intermediate. Lovely club house very relaxed with great room to stretch out with children. No queues no hassles all the fun with no barrage of people. Beautiful spot and would love to come back in the summer too. Very nice people well done.

Great family friendly field, instructors are awesome!
You definately need to be a confident driver in a good 4wd with chains, if you want to drive yourself up the mountain (recommend the shuttle service if you're not keen on a nail biting drive ha ha ha) but totally worth it when you get to the top - we'll be back ❤🏂⛷❄

Favourite hidden gem we've found so far! Many of the runs were challenging but awesome!! Everyone is super friendly and encouraging!!
Definitely will be coming back for the slopes and adorable doggies

One of the best skiing resorts I have visited. Tracks for learners, intermediate and advanced skiers. Unsealed road leads to the resort so snow chains are a must. Amazing staff and great crowd. If you are in Hanmer or around visit this resort rather than Hanmerski.

Great for sledging 😍 and skiing. Affordable prices! We rented a donut for sledging for 1 hour and it was more than enough, the sledging track is really long and steep enough to have as much fun as we needed 😂

Very easy going place with helpful and friendly staff. It's not overly commercialised so if you prefer a more laid back experience this is for you. The road up definitely requires chains on your vehicle and if you're not a confident driver use the shuttle service provided. Good runs to explore on the mountain and great views when you get to the top. Most of the area is suited to intermediate but there're options for beginners and advance to.

New to skiing and this place is awesome. Enough space to learn and various runs to challenge thanks for a great time.

Great little ski resort. We stayed in the hutt at stella lake. What an amazing place. Would reccomend to anyone after a real mountain experience

The crew at Lyford were outstanding. Some of the best service I had ever received. We saw the mountain road that looked way too extreme for out wee Corolla, so I called the mountain and the team assured me that the road was in great condition and that we would make it up fine. Upon arrival my partner who was new to skiing was fitted with rentals and was given fantastic support and advice. We had a go on the learners slope then came back to upgrade our passes, they were so kind in giving us a discount as there was a huge school group, and even showed us through the trial maps and took genuine care in our skiing. Five stars Lyford we will definitely be back!

Very cute and cosy huts, big woodfire hottubs, stunning views, romantic experience. Recommend

Lovely scenic ride to resort. Spacious parking. Lovely staff to help you with renting equipment and classes. Snowboarding, skiing and kids snow games are welcome. Advanced and beginners find their spots to enjoy. Cafe and food to rest and rejuvenate for next run. View to top of mountain is astonishing. Love the place. Not so crowded and busy.

Nice wee field, rope tows weren't going when I was there so didn't go everywhere...

Small family run buisness. Very relaxed wee field. Learners slope. 2 pommers and t-bar. Occasionally a nut cracker opens. Cheap food and hot drinks.

View was stunning I loved it but personally wouldn't drive again I'd rather take the shuttle as it's a very steep and terrifying Clif face

Small family run skifield. Great runs when snow. Very very relaxed. Great learner slopes and deals. We go for afternoons as catches afternoon sun. Half day pad makes it affordable for families.

Great family field - brilliant learners area and also intermediate slopes for the little ones and plenty of un-crowed spots for advanced skiers. Open space, non-existent question and drag tow's mean your legs never get cold or sore. Great lodge facilities. Can't thank the staff enough for both teaching my son how to ski as well as helping me out with some car troubles en route. Would still be there if i did not have to return to work!

First family visit to the snow was made awesome by the friendly staff, perfect weather and a nice warm well priced lunch. We can't wait to come back. (Hopefully with our dog next time)
R.
Fun, friendly and casual. Well formed access road, but take snow-chains. Car park is right at the learners slope, great set up.

Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful scenery, and lots of fun. As first timers on the snow we had a blast with our children and look forward to returning.

Amazing location and would be incredible with more snow. However some really strange interactions from a few staff members left us feeling a little strange at the end of the day. The Canadian lifty out on the big rope tow was awesome though, he was putting in some solid mahi! Also take lots of water there is no where to fill bottles

Lovely friendly club field that has dogs. So cool. Love the dogs. Never change.

Some of the best views and sunniest slopes in New Zealand. The road in isn't for the feint of heart, but it's so worth it once you arrive. Plenty of different slopes for the whole family.

Great mountain. Range of skill levels. Tows include pomer, tbar and nutcrackers, so prepare to be pulled around all day!!

Even though lyford didnt get very good snow this year, I felt that they still had a good season in the sense that the staff were helpful and the lift passes were cheap.
H.
Nice wee skifield. Great for all ages. Very friendly staff
