Morrell Motors was recommended to us by our daughter who had purchased a Subaru XV two years ago. From the first contact Mark was extremely welcoming, courteous and helpful. We arranged a test drive of a Forester Hybrid, travelling from Auckland and throughout the process the communication from Mark, was excellent. After good advice about our options we purchased a new 2021 Subaru Forester Premium and we have been delighted from the moment we picked up our new vehicle. Having dealt with Morrell Motors for nearly 18 years I can affirm it surely is a great family business. The Morrell family has certainly looked after our family. My parents bought from Mark 15 years ago and the car was so reliable it is still going strong much to the delight of my nearly 90 yr old mum! Recently I purchased a new Subaru Outback Touring from Morrell Motors. This is my fifth Subaru and I originally moved into the make because I wanted a safe and comfortable all wheel drive station wagon which could tow a light trailer and safely carry a very large Arctic dog. I found the Subaru Legacy models to be perfect for my requirements over the past 20 years. Living in Auckland but with family in Taupo I eventually found it easier and more straightforward to have my Subarus serviced by Morrells while visiting Taupo. Now again a resident of Taupo I continued to have them service my Legacy and also a Corvette - a challenge which they happily overcame. Sean at the service desk is the front man for Morrells for many customers and I have been impressed by his friendly and knowledgeable professionalism. No challenge is too difficult for Sean... This year I wanted to buy a new wagon and considered my options... exotic Europeans with questionable reliability and terrible depreciation?? I shopped around and got quotes well over list price, everchanging delivery dates from disinterested salespeople. Then the new Outback appeared on Youtube and down to Morrells I went!! At a meeting with Emily at Morrells in March the deal was done... a trade in price agreed, colour and trim selected and total price on paper. This came about after an initial visit to sales introduced me to Emily who discussed the new model and answered all my questions. There was never any pressure and the sale process was done in a relaxed manner. Emily kept me informed and updated throughout the intervening time and she is to be commended for the professional way she develops a positive relationship with the customer. She understands that buying a new car - a new model - can potentially take a customer out of their 'comfort zone', and I am extremely happy with my new Outback and I am so pleased that I bought Subaru #5 from Emily at Morrell Motors in Taupo. After much research I had already made the decision the Outback 2.5I X AWD would fit what I was looking for. I searched online throughout New Zealand and Morrell Motors had exactly what I wanted [including the colour]. So I emailed Morrell Motors and shortly after Mark rang. Mark and Garry demonstrated the vehicles with clarity and absolutely no pressure - the Subaru pretty much sells itself. Trade-in and change over offers were clear and very reasonable. Sorting and fitting the accessories was no problem at all - even a special tow-ball for our bicycle rack was researched, then fitted by the tech team to each of the cars. Delivery and change over was smooth on both occasions - explanations and personalised set-ups of the cars' features were clear and concise. Email communication was, without exception, quick and clear. Our Outback has had two scheduled services now . The servicing team are clear with their explanations and the service was done promptly - along with a loan car so we weren't inconvenienced. The real difference between Mark Morrell and everyone else is the time he takes to delivery the car then explain all the buttons and gadgetry to you. We moved to Taupo from overseas in November 2019. Even before moving over here Garry and Mark had been incredibly helpful - finding us a used car to buy so we could drive it when visiting, servicing and even repainting faded paintwork before we arrived. Garry took us out on several demo drives to show us all the features in the Subaru and was happy to answer all our questions. When we decided on the model we wanted he even arranged for it to be ordered in time for us to arrive - it was waiting for us in the showroom the day we landed in NZ! I purchased my Subaru from Morrell Motors after spotting their advert online. As I live 4 hours away from Taupo, I anticipated some problems with delivery, service and also a sight unseen vehicle purchase and trade in from my side. I was, however, blown away by the outstanding service from Mark, his excellent and timeous communication and his eagerness to take all the stress out of the purchase and trade in. He arranged for the vehicle to be personally delivered to me, and the gentleman and lady who presented me with the vehicle spent an hour going over all the car's gadgets and bells and whistles. I recently updated my 6 year old Subaru Outback 3.6 L Premium as I was fortunately advised that they were no longer being manufactured after 2020. I chose to deal with Morrell Motors who had serviced my previous vehicle in the last 3 years as I have always found them to provide very friendly personal service with prompt and efficient response to my requests. After discussing the pre-purchase arrangements I was given a very good rundown of the improvements in the new model and advised as to its arrival time. The expected mileage on my existing car was some what exceeded , but that was accepted with good grace! I was kept regularly informed of the progress as delivery date approached. At delivery I was given a very comprehensive introduction to the new features and taken for a test drive to display some of these features in action, all in all taking 1.5 hours but thoroughly well spent, as ploughing through the very detailed guides that come with the car is hard work! In short I was very impressed with the knowlegeable and efficient but friendly and personal service given by Mark and his team at Morrell Motors, and would have no hesitation in recommending them to any other potential customers.

Our escape from Wellington at the end of Level 3 lockdown to our bach at Pukawa had the unexpected outcome of our making a snap purchase of the demo Subaru Forrester at Morrell Motors. The deal on offer was a “No Brainer”, and due to the limits of Covid 19 we didn’t even do a test drive. However we did present Mark with a few logistical issues around how to take possession. But nothing was a problem for him and he delivered our new vehicle to us at the bach in record time, serviced and sanitised to the required standard. He then gave us a very thorough overview of the operation of the Forrester, which has proven to be an incredibly comfortable car over long distances and with an impressive array of high end features. An excellent purchasing experience with Mark. Prompt communication, and a fluid transaction meant we drove away with the same excitement, if not more, than when we made our way to the lot. We traveled to Taupo from Auckland solely for the purchase of the vehicle; which naturally came with heightened concerns around any potential disappointments or issues during the process. Suffice to say that Mark erased all those concerns over the first few minutes of introducing himself and the vehicle. A real credit to your manner Mark. As a specific mention, I was particularly impressed with the level of knowledge that Mark had about the vehicle, and how eager he was to share this with us. Even though I had mentioned that I had conducted significant personal research into the vehicle, and understood the features back to front, Mark was still eager to offer a complete walkthrough and test drive. To boot, he still managed to cover plenty of features and tips which all of my research had not uncovered. Impressive. I felt no sales pressure or typical 'car sales' brovado and arrogance. Mark is a great guy, with a great business, a great product, and a great attitude. I feel like i'm giving him some kind of professional plug with this review; but I honestly couldn't be more happy with the transaction. I would recommend buyers to Mark an instant - no matter where in NZ they live.
