L.One of the best hikes in Dunedin. I have done more than 5 trips. It's worth every bit for amazing views!
R.Worth your time! Wonderful walking track and you get to see amazing view up there
A.A mild/ long hiking which results in the highest point in Dunedin: It's the only place that you can see loads of snows during winter. The path starts with lush green meadows and green fallen trees in the beginning. While you are walking amongst the woods, you see the magnificent tall trees up in the air which make you stay every five min to take a Selfie! The more you climb the uphill, more you can see the beauty of the landscape exist at the top which urges you to carry on!
Q.We walked up to Mount Cargill via the Organ Pipes track, it was a hard slog but once we got to the top it was so worth it. Views for miles and miles. We took the binoculars along and it felt like we could just about see Queenstown! There is of course also the option of driving up for the views, but that’s really cheating isn’t it. If the weather is clear, the views from the top are quite majestic. The hike down to Organ Pipes and back is moderately difficult, but quite enjoyable.
V.Great experience with and without clouds. This highest point in Dunedin gives a lovely view of Dunedin and peninsula- I felt like I am watching a movie with visual effects. If there are clouds you feel like riding on them just like dreams.
A.There is a few ways up to the top of Mount Cargill. The Escartment track and Graham Bush which is in another review. You can go on At the end of Clunny Street is Bethunes Gully and the track works its way up the valley. The path is a good path and there is a decent play park and bbq area. We managed to get 3/4 of the way up before the snow set in and we had to turn back due to bad choice of footwear.
Ç.Four great running tracks to the top, and an awesome wee climbing crag that is only a few minutes walk from the car park. Overall a great local attraction.
D.Great to walk up and ideal for one when there getting ready to go on a big hike . Would recommend walking up mt Cargill when it's sunny by getting great views of Dunedin including Blue skin bay out to the port etc
