My husband and I rented an Hugo Campervan and had a great time. The staff was awesome, and answered all my questions before our trip fast and professionally. Also they gave great advice about resting before starting our trip. Before starting our trip, they explained everything about the van and we had a lovely holiday. The van was clean and comfortable.

Excellent value for money, we've fallen a little bit in love with 'our' Sacred Heart. Had the best time in New Zealand we could wish for and if you like your camping to be a bit basic and not to fancy the Escape campervans are the we to go.

My partner and I rented a Hugo campervan from Auckland - Christchurch for 2 months. The vehicle despite its mileage and age, was in great condition and had no problems on our journey. The team at the Auckland centre had no problem helping us out when we had a bed issue. Went with Hugo because of how affordable it was, and we have absolutely no regrets !!

We’ve just finished our epic 1 month road trip through NZ with our absolutely amazing Ninja-Turtle Van from Escape Campervans. All their vans look so cool and unique with their fantastic airbrushed designs and we always smiled (and sometimes even honked 😊) we saw another Escape Van on the road. You just can’t help but feel special in those vans and we enjoyed every second of it. The vans also come with everything you could possibly need for your road trip adventure – a big, comfy bed, a little kitchen with all utensils, a table inside the van for rainy days and camping chairs for sunny ones. It really became our little home and we felt so emotional when we had to return it and say good bye. We also appreciated the hassle-free service the team of Escape provided and can honestly say that renting an Escape Campervan is THE BEST WAY OF TRAVELLING AROUND NEW ZEALAND!

No problems at all, the van was great and perfect for our purpose. we only had 2 afternoons of rain in 5 weeks , a small side awning would be help full. Our "tui" van was economical and averaged 10.9 litres per 100 klms. We had a great time driving around in our Golden Dragon (renamed him Barry Batsbak). He sometimes struggled when the hills got too steep, but any van would. We had a four week rental with Escape and it was just awesome. They upgraded us to a self contained van for free and included extra duvets and stuff to make sure that we'd be sweet even in the mid winter! We had an issue at the beginning but it was solved within 15 minutes by the super helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and use again to anyone doing a roadie around NZ and wants a van to fit everywhere a car could fit

We absolutely loved our Escape Campervan. It's so much more unique than all the large white camper vans you see on the road. It's small enough so it's manageable, but large enough that we were able to hang out in it comfortably. We never worried about where we could take the van. Most importantly, they got the sleeping arrangements just right! The mattresses, pillows, and duvets were so comfortable, we had some of the best sleep ever on this 6-week trip. Highly recommend it.

Amazing van and time (sweet as). Had a 15 day rental from the Auckland location. Upon day of pick up our van was ready and clean. Staff was friendly, very helpful and informative. It was an efficient and quick process to get us out on the road. The van ran and drove smooth the entire trip with no problems. Bed and linen was clean and comfortable with all the basic essentials needed. Drop off was very quick and easy with no problems and friendly staff. Also we nicknamed our van Blossom and would rent from them again.

We have had the best 3 weeks with our van from Escape. Queen Bee provided us with a fantastic home away from home for over 3000kms, she was reliable, comfortable and safe and started first time every morning. The staff were fantastic, quick to reply to queries and handled the current worldwide crisis really well, was reassuring for two young travellers in the middle of it all. I am happy to share excellent feedback for the Escape Campervan Rentals team in Auckland. Great communication prior to rental, clear instructions and information provided at the time of pick-up. Our self-contained van, as all Escape vans, was basic, with no-frills or unnecessary luxuries. Clean and safe vehicle. No mechanical issues, just a blip with the 12V charger on the second day which was promptly solved over the phone (Escape Rentals support staff organized a check for us at a local car electrician shop en route and the blown fuse was changed in a matter of minutes). I would definitely recommend Escape for great value and clear communication (especially concerning insurance options).

We rented a van via Frogz-in-NZ, and it was perfect ! We picked it up from Christchurch and dropped it off in Auckland. We had good explanation about the van and how to drive in New Zealand. Staff at both Escape depots were really friendly and well organized. The van is easy to drive, well equipped, functional, was very clean and super comfortable. There is lots of storage too. We had the Treehouse van. In total, we covered 3862 km on both islands. We had no problems during these past three weeks. We really enjoyed our holidays in it ! Escape Rentals is an excellent company ! We highly recommend it ! If we come back to NZ, we will choose for sure Escape Rentals again ! Besides, with Escape, each van is unique and looks great!

We loved our trusty van which we named Kia Ora . She started first turn each time & cruised along nicely at 100 km per hour . The van was basic but that was exactly what we wanted we wanted to be outside as much as possible Ours was not self contained which meant you can’t freedom camp unless the place had a toilet block . But I just did not fancy having a chemical toilet in the van . Plus all the campsites where fantastic all over New Zealand & so well equipped . The bed was very comfy and the black our blinds kept it nice and dark inside when we slept . It could of come with a better non stick pan & a descent sharp knife but they where cheap enough to purchase . We did nearly 7000 miles in her during the month we travelled around & as a result where very sad when we had to drop here back in Auckland . Escape is like a camper van family as other escapees you see on the road always wave . The van really helped make our trip an adventure of a lifetime .

We rented a campervan with Escape for about a month. We had such a great experience. The campervan was comfortable and equipped with everything that we needed (and even more). The design is also very cool (ours was with frogs). Both the crews at pickup and drop off were super nice, giving us all the tips we needed. We escaped to the countryside so easily with our Escape Campervan! It was our home away from home and it was really easy to book and pick up/drop off! They even helped with tips for moving around New Zealand and had a range of essentials to choose from as well as a few bits other campers had left behind such as salt and pepper! We ended up covering 1200miles without a hitch and went to some very "wild" wilderness campsites without a single issue! I would definitely recommend hiring from Escape as they are brilliant campervans and all have unique designs which allow you to stand out from the beige washing machines that you will find driving all over Nz. We even got a few compliments on our "cool" design...we couldn't take the credit..

Our pick up was bit rushed because there was just one person handling customers the day we came in, which was on a weekend, I believe, but the representative was informative and friendly. We thought our campervan itself was great. The bed is a little work - if you don't expect to do a little work, campervans might not be for you. Driving one around New Zealand was quite an experience, and we did a lot of driving! An awesome experience in its own right. Our return and check out went quick and was easy. Would definitely return to Escape if we are lucky enough to afford another trip to New Zealand. Absolutely the most lovely country I've ever seen, and Escape adds to the experience.

We loved this company! We rented two vans (one self contained, one not) from escape campervans for two weeks to roadtrip around the South Island. Really really impressed with everything- booking process was straightforward, the customer service was excellent and the vans were clean and really easy to drive. The lay out works well with a comfy bed at night (we slept three in one van), loads of storage, a put up table if you need to eat inside and the kitchen at the back. We drove with three in the front too which was fine. Aux cable and 12v charging point provided along with everything you need including electric hook up, bedding, pots and pans, a heater, a light, cutlery etc. The stoves were ok but quite slow to cook food. Did not use the toilet at all. Recommend paying a bit more for a self- contained as you can wild camp more freely. We paid for class c insurance which really paid off - we were involved in an accident on the road which damaged both vans and sorting it out couldn’t have been easier. A phone call after the accident, some paperwork when we returned the vans and that was it. Definitely the best company we’ve rented a vehicle from & highly recommend.

I booked once with Escape Campervans in Auckland and twice in Christchurch, for the money you're paying it's really worth it! They don't offer huge caravans like Britz or StarRV, but rather medium sized vans.They really give you everything you need for a roadtrip at a good price! Not been dissatisfied once!

Awesome value and great vans. We had Mermaid and she drove like a dream. You also get a stove, sink and gas cannisters. the only slight downside was that its not insulated so can get quite cold at night and fogs up but for the price you can't complain at all. Really well serviced van and great customer service and support too!

We've rented a beautiful campervan from EscapeRentals for 3 weeks and it was the greatest campervan we've seen on New Zealand's roads. Ours had a painting of two rocks and the ocean and it fitted the scenery perfectly. The van has a big and comfortable bed, a small sink and a few cooking appliances. We've cooked quite a lot and it was sort of comfortable. The rental procedure takes some time, so be prepared for that, but if you buy a "no worries mate" insurance, like we did, you can giving back the campervan after your trip takes around 10 minutes :) We would recommend Escape Rentals to everyone!

We rented a self-contained campervan from Escape out of Auckland for the most amazing 10 days of exploring! The van drove wonderfully and was such a comfortable home on the road (we slept so well!). The folks at Escape provide you with everything you need by way of information and living necessities. We were so stoked to simply drive around and find awesome overnights using the helpful apps. The value is excellent, as free sites are plentiful and paid sites can be found for cheep. Hiring an Escape campervan for our month-long road trip around the national parks in America's south west, was the best decision we've ever made. Having a van that was easy to drive, that we could sleep in, and cook in, made it a very, very affordable trip for a month. We also had the ultimate freedom because we weren't tied down by having to find a hotel, or being in and out of a specific location at a specific time. The vans are extremely comfortable, with a great amount of storage. Turning the couch and table into a bed, and vice versa, is really easy and doesn't take long at all, compared to having to make and take down a campsite each night and morning. The Escape team is extremely helpful, with quotes, planning, information about driving in the U.S., and are just genuinely good people. Would highly recommend the experience!!

The best way to travel New Zealand. We got the van for a bit less than 3 weeks. It was a bit old, it took us a few days find the more efficient way to settle in the van, but after that it was a great experience. There is a camper van parking or more in every town. If your are planning to visit the whole of New Zealand, I suggest going north. (For now at least) there is no additional fee to take the van in Christchurch and drop it in Auckland, while there is an additional fee to do the opposite.

My Fiance and I toured the north of Aeteoroa's north island for 6 nights in a Hugo campervan. Booking and setup process was smooth and we got on the road with no issues. Amazing time in Hobbiton, Taupo, Rotorua and Hahei. The vehicle handled the roads well, especially the windy roads up the Coromandel peninsula. The van was spacious, comfy to sleep in, comes with linen and a great little kitchen. A bit tricky for my partner to cook as the bench is quite high. Despite this, a great set up. Definitely consider getting premium insurance as there are some dodgy corners and turns in the rural areas, especially with heaps of roadworks at the moment. Handover was quick and they listened to our feed back. Definitely recommend this company for their professional and attention-to-detail service. Cheers, James and Cristel.

(5 stars) Travelled last summer wityh Escape. Couldn’t fault them. Good vans. Good price. Good service. Would recommend staying in hostel and collecting van in morning (they were located in central Auckland). And take the insurance. We had a small accident and it was good to be covered.

The service on pick-up and drop-off was great. They were super friendly and helpful. In advance you also get a lot of help information which will make your start way easier. All in all I was very happy with the van. The only missing feature that would have given the 5th star, is the missing fridge. In hot times you will need new ice almost daily which adds quiet a bit to the budget.

We picked up the Batmoble in Christchurch and returned it to Auckland. We loved the simplicity of the campervan and the artwork. The artwork created many a conversation. Krispy in Christchurch was very easy to deal with and offered many helpful hints for us. Travelling on the Bluebridge Ferry was a great experience and using the voucher made the trip affordable. Returning the vehicle to Auckland was easy and they were easy to find. Thank you for a wonderful two weeks with the Batmobile.

Reliable van and efficient service but the van we got was sooooo ugly! My daughter cried for the first 24 hours we drove it - we thought we were getting something people would smile at, instead we got some very strange looks - so if you are renting for the artwork, don't be disappointed if you get something less than you anticipated. Ours was called The Gladiator and had two blood thirsty warriors on the side of it - not exactly 'spreading the love', as we had hoped!! What were you thinking guys??

As negative points, no fridge but a cooler, which requires well organized level food (and buying some ice packs :)) and cooking utensils having lived a lot. Our van was decorated with maori motifs, really beautiful. No problem to report during our three weeks of trip. (Original) Après avoir passé quelques jours à Auckland, nous avons décidé de louer un van aménagé pour visiter la Nouvelle Zélande. Nous avons été d'entreprise de location en entreprise de location pour trouver le meilleur rapport Qualité/Prix et notre choix s'est arrêté sur Escape Rentals. Nous avons eu affaire à une équipe super sympathique qui a pris le temps de nous faire voir leurs produits et de nous expliquer tout ce que nous avions à savoir. Tout ce qui est fourni dans le van est largement suffisant pour passer de bonnes vacances (chaises, source d'eau, matériel de cuisine, rallonge électrique, chauffage électrique, lampe, etc...) Notre van était décoré avec des motifs maoris, vraiment superbe. Aucun problème à signaler pendant nos trois semaines de trip.

First things first ... the Nissan took us everywhere without any problems, which was very gratifying. :) Both the pick up in Auckland and the drop off in Christchurch worked perfectly and the staff on site was very friendly. The camper was fully equipped and luckily also had a heater. Why not 5 stars? Because on the one hand our camper was very old and had already covered over 300000 km ... we saw other escapes on the way that were a lot more modern .. (above all you could open both sliding doors, unfortunately not with us). You could still cope with that, but there were some safety deficiencies that were very annoying ... for example, we could not use our left-hand exterior mirror, as it always collapsed by itself and was only attached with adhesive tape ^^ Everything else was great and we had an incredible time in this beautiful country! Next time it will be an escape again. :) (Original) Wir haben zu 2. einen Escape Camper für 6 Wochen Rundreise durch Neuseeland gemietet. Das Wichtigste zuerst...der Nissan hat uns ohne Probleme überall hingebracht, was sehr erfreulich war. :) Sowohl das Abholen in Auckland, als auch das Abgeben in Christchurch hat einwandfrei funktioniert und das Personal vor Ort war sehr freundlich. Der Camper war komplett ausgestattet und hatte zum Glück auch einen Heizlüfter. Warum nicht 5 Sterne? Weil zum einen unser Camper sehr alt war und schon über 300000 km runter hatte...da haben wir unterwegs anderes Escapes gesehen, die um einiges moderner waren..(vor allem konnte man bei denen beide Schiebetüren öffnen, bei uns leider nicht). Das konnte man ja noch verkraften, jedoch gab es einige Sicherheitsmängel, die sehr gestört haben...zum Beispiel konnten wir unseren linken Außenspiegel nicht benutzen, da dieser inmer wieder von selbst einklappte und nur mit Klebeband befestigt war^^ Sonst war alles super und wir hatten eine unglaubliche Zeit in diesem wunderschönen Land! Beim nächsten mal wird es bestimmt wieder ein Escape.:)
