S.Randomly stopped at the cheese factory as I saw the sign on the road. Amazing little shop and a small museum that explains the processing of milk all the way to butter and cheese.
As a huge cheese fan, I got myself a Blue cheese, Smoked cheese and the Sage cheese. OMG!!!! They are so good!!! Amazing...recommend to anyone that has a chance to stop there.
J.Went into the area where all the cheese was to see a gentleman came in from out the back and explained all the cheeses that were on sale he knew his cheese's and they were absolutely superb and highly recommend you try them you can't beet the taste and the texture is so rewarding to the taste buds
S.Evansdale Cheese near Dunedin. Apparently Evansdale Cheese was the first small cheese making factory in New Zealand. The oldest Artisen Cheesemakers established in 1977. There's a large variety of hand made cheese to choose from (Soft, Hard and Blue etc.). Reasonable prices.
Friendly and helpful staff. No toilet facilities here.

D.Was greeted by a friendly gentleman who helped me select the best sharp cheese around. Once I got home and gave it a try, he was not kidding me. Amazing cheese and would highly recommend to anyone looking for some great local cheese. I would give 5 stars, but I asked if there were tours available and was told they didn't start for another couple month - and was not offered a tour even though I was the only person in the shop. Oh well - great cheese!!

The Evansdale Cheese Factory makes some of the best cheeses that I have ever tasted and they have a variety perfect for any occasion. Whether you need some curds for poutine or some wheels for a fancy wine and cheese club, the Evansdale Cheese Factory has something for you.
Some of their most exceptional cheeses are their Farmhouse Brie and the hot manuka smoked version known as Tania which has an amazing taste and texture to it and pairs wonderfully with a little bit of salami and some Barkers Blackberry and Brandy fruit for cheese paste.
If you would like a truly one of a kind experience, then purchase a full Ruby Bay wheel and leave it in a cool dry place for about a year, or longer if you know what you are doing, then open it to taste a truly breath-taking cheese that will amaze and excite your senses.
They also have the option of coming in to buy their products, ordering online, or coming to see them at the Dunedin Railway Station farmers market.
Also if you think their cheeses are a bit expensive, then just buy a quarter wheel or have a tasting session and you will see that they are absolutely worth every dollar.
My only complaints are that most of their "Tasty Sides" on the website do not list the size of the jar, so I have never bought any since I don't know how much I'd get. And that they are a bit out of the way for me to visit, despite it being one of my dreams to go there and have a cheese tasting and buy way more cheese than I need ;-)
M.Amazing man gave both cheese and sight seeing tips, sold me the best three cheeses and best rhubarb butter I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommend!

O.I stopped by Evansdale Cheese Factory before heading back to Christchurch and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of different and interesting cheeses. Even though Google shows they open at 10am, the staff member was more than happy to serve me when I arrived half an hour earlier.
The customer service was great, the cheese bag I got kept the cheeses throughout the drive and my partner and I enjoyed a proper cheese night later that day. Great cheese equals great fun!
I fully recommend anyone who likes cheese to stop by if you're in the area. You won't regret it!
J.The best, and best-value, handmade cheese in NZ, in my opinion. Have been buying Evansdale cheese since I lived in Dunedin in the early 1990's - now I buy online, or from the factory if I'm driving between Christchurch and Dunedin. Their smoked farmhouse cheese 'Tania' is my favourite cheese ever.
B.The best cheese around, the blue and brie are fantastic as are the equally fantastic cheddars which have flavours like sage and pepper. Grab some from the factory or the Farmers Market in Dunedin on a Saturday morning, you are missing out otherwise.
D.Wow! Amazing cheeses. Sold these cheeses as a fundraiser for a local sports team. Easy to sell cos the cheeses are so good. First time I've ever done a fundraiser where order has been 100% correct - super friendly and easy to deal with.
M.I wasn't at the cheese factory but I was looking at some residential sections immediately adjacent. This is a sunny residential subdivision about 20 minutes drive from dunedin. The land itself is at least 10m above sea level, so good for the next 50 years. It gets all day, all year sun. It is about 500m from a tidal estuary and 1km from the coast. Sheltered, you are able to whitebait or kayak fish in this area. There are community resources, including a pool. Not frost prone due to coastal proximity. Would be a nice place to retire. I see a good future for this area and would recommend it as a good place to invest with a new house, if you were under 40.
g.Worth a stop off if you like cheese. Brought 6 pieces this morning, delicious. Bit of a weird setting though in the old Cherry Farm Hopsital grounds.

The staff are very friendly and share some sigh seeing places with me! I'm happy to visit the cheese factory to get nice cheese to pair with wine.
C.Evansdale cheese has been a stopping point for many years anytime I'm "down south" While the building/area could do with a tidy up...you really need to try their boutique cheeses - the smoked brie is amazing and worth a visit alone!
On my latest visit I was greeted by a super friendly and chatty staff member who offered great service. If you're passing by this area drop in and taste for yourself!
J.It's really good artisan cheese. The place has it's querky charm, but it's really really good cheese.
My personal favorite is the Komene Kass with its cumin seeds and then the Sage Derby.
Recommend heading to the butcher next door for there cured meats as they are an excellent accouplement to the cheese.
