This church is for anyone wanting to experience a church community who are non-judgemental, welcoming, and inclusive. A great experience if you have never been to church ever before too as it doesn't fit that religious perception you see on TV. It has an intimate atmosphere and is set in a industrial looking building with alot of natural light coming through the building. Around 20 to 30 people attend weekly. With weekend jobs, sports commitments, children's sports, and family times - there's no follow ups or pressure to be there every Sunday as the Pastors understand that weekends can sometimes be the only times you see your kids or spend time with family, have an event or just need time to rest. So with that being said - on the occasional Sunday when everyone turns up at the same times there can be around 60 people . The music is an acoustic set usually with a singer or two and a musician or backing track so it's easy to relax and standing or sitting and spend time reflecting. There is no pressure to serve or to pay tithing as a religious duty but one of heart and whenever you are ready.
Dress: Casual dress :) or dress however you feel comfortable.
The pastors are caring and family focused having 3 children themselves, one a teenager. The pastors also have day jobs - Ps Josiah a carpet layer - so they are just like everyone else having to raise a family and pay rent etc but also have a heart for people and helping the community come to know Jesus in a real way with their time too.
The service is 1 hr with coffee or tea at the beginning of the service and 10am and more afterwards if you want to stay and hang. There is a kids church which where the children do activities based around Jesus God the Holyspirit or the The Bible in general...so the parents can enjoy the service. However children can stay in the service also if they want with to be with parents.
I am moving to another church, and will miss this one greatly! I have moved out of Auckland city area. It truly is special and much needed for those who want something smaller and intimate. Those who have never been to a church or those who are looking for a new place to call home and in need of healing from a previous church.
Your relationship with God is your responsibility to seek him in your personal times, and coming together is when you fellowship with others and connect. There are also 2 small groups that run during the week if you want to attend. Definitely visit this church if this review sparkes hope, if it feels right. I'm posting because I am reading reviews as I search for my new home church in my new community suburb and realised someone might need mine for Courageous. I've been here since the beginning as a church based in Avondale and 2.5 years old... it will always have a special place in my heart x love the people so much. It isn't perfect as no church is - but it makes sense and I'm so happy to have been part of its launch and part of the creative team ❤ it helped me see Jesus with a new perspective and love him deeper without the religious mindsets I created. I hope you find your new home church soon- one where you feel like you can be yourself and learn what it means to feel whole in Jesus.

Ps. If you are keen to play an instrument or sing, do sound... you will be a God send! There always a place for anyone wanting to volunteer their talent as there is a need atm 🙌
