Absoloutly amazing A must do in Nelson This incredibly well built European settler Church must be seen inside and out. led Glass windows are incredible.

I'm not one to go on about churches but it was awesome on the outside . Small parking area up top in front of the church . CleanToilets, donations accepted.

An amazing cathedral with lovely architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. The atmosphere is very spiritual, a powerful place to pray and meditate.

We went to see the Christmas Trees and it was just lovely. Such imagination behind the many and varied entries. The Cathedral itself is worth a visit. It's lovely and the stained glass windows are amazing

Grand and Majestic!!! It’s one of the must-visit places in Nelson. They allow guests to take a tour inside and there is a full description of everything that you see inside the cathedral. The front view is picture-perfect whilst the rear view or the one from Trafalgar Square is equally breath-taking! Highly recommended!

This place is amazing. The park is so beautiful! You can take some really cool pictures on the steps up to the church. The trees are huge! And the plants are very exotic looking (at least for someone from Europe) and cery beautiful. In the church there are some beautiful glass windows and it's definitely worth seeing.

Beautiful cathedral currently having a bit of work done. Doesn't distract from the beautiful interior. Despite a number of us wandering around it was still relatively quiet. They had their competition of the Christmas trees going with some very deserving charities being supported.

Was a very quite and relaxing place in the middle of the City. They have a chair from the queens visit in 1954, some nice old blueprints from the construction of the church. The park in front of the building is nice too

I had the pleasure of going to a Christmas eve service on inside the church. It was a very authentic Christian Christmas show with carols, Christian rituals involving candles etc. inside a beautifully constructed cathedral. I enjoyed the fresh pine scent coming from their Christmas trees and the atmospheric lighting that set a great tone/mood for the event.

I am not Christian, but I enjoy coming inside to enjoy all kinds of things here. Such as listening to Organ music, peaceful songs and bible stories, watching the grand interior beauty, even meditations etc. I love to meet and chat with all the super calm & kind local people here. Encourage more people come to feel the unique vibes here.

Gorgeous stain glass and organ

Christ Church Cathedral Nelson is an Anglican cathedral in upper Trafalgar Street, Nelson, with seating 350 people. The tower is 35 metres high. Beautiful Anglican church with much history, beautiful architecture, colourful windows.

A special church on a hill, the tower with bell you can see it from far. The manager is very friendly and is happy to tell about "his" church.

There was an awesome Christmas tree display with a vote of best tree ,, an a small donation towards the church

"Centre of attraction of Nelson City".. Wander round this impressive church. Nice grounds and architecture. enjoy looking at buildings and the view over the downtown area down those nice steps. Very nice place to sit and reflect in peace and quiet. It is well worth a visit. This church is easy to visit either by walking up the hill, or driving up and parking at the top. It is a beautiful church, quote unusual inside and a place for easy reflection and contemplation.

Beautiful ! We visited the Christmas Tree's that were Displayed. About 30 of them! Lovely Local Volunteers at the Doors to Greet Us. Such a Special Cathedral and right at the top of the main street of Nelson City. We sat and soaked in the Peaceful atmosphere, giving Thanks for Our Safe Healthy Lives. A pretty church with music being played on the organ while we were there.

Not much to see as it is protected by fences since the earthquake of 2011. No access and only inhabitants are pigeons.

This place is beautiful, just like a 1000 year old minster in England. Lovely rose window, stained glass, a huge organ and lovely arched aisles at the side - time travel!

Amazing and very well looked after cathedral

Despite being relatively young (as far as Cathedrals go), the architecture is reminiscent of much older almost Gothic style churches which was a joy to behold. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Nelson.

Immaculately kept and used Cathedral. It was amazing to see it full of charities decorated Christmas trees over the Christmas period. A beautiful place full of history

Christmas at the church is so fantastic the Christmas Trees placed by various organizations was mind blowing also the music was great,you can donate to light a candle ,or place a name of a passed love one on a special tree,its quiet, reverend, and well worth a visit anytime .

We visited the cathedral in November 2018, but don't think we reviewed it. A delightful place and so peaceful. We enjoyed the choir rehearsing for Christmas and walked the labyrinth. Thank God for his presence here.

Incredible building to wander around or take a look inside. It’s free to enter and they hold church services there still. Only a short walk up some stairs from the town centre so make sure you don’t miss it!

Beautiful church to visit

A really beautiful old church to take in on our visit to the lovely tree studded city of the south Nelson. What a sight it is to see buildings like this equal to the best in the old country. We should never lose sight of who we are and the importance of faith in our lives. A must for all believers.

The cathedral is peaceful and superb. It has a rich history, so it is well worth reading the signs. By far the best thing about it however is how welcoming it is to people of all faiths and orientations. It does the Anglican church proud. If you get the chance at Christmas head to the midnight service. The acolytes light candles ringed with holy that sit in the hollows of the stain-glass windows. The choir sounds fantastic as they sing from the gallery before the service begins. Just magical.

Amazing church love to windows.

We popped in here after a walk through the town centre and there was a Christmas Tree exhibition on as well as some Christmas art hanging from the ceiling - a great mixture of modern and old. We felt welcome and were impressed by how well it has been maintained.

Has a very good organ, great for traditional type recitals. Very nice stained glass and architecture. They do religious stuff there too I presume.

The cathedral in Nelson, located on top of the hill at the end of the shopping area. The outside looks a little bit dull, but the inside looks great with a glowing blue ambiance from the stone. Inside you'll also find the suspended air organ that looks amazing especially with the mix of nice polished wood with blue-ish pipes.

A magnificent cathedral overlooking Nelson city...open most days to visitors and church goers alike....set in beautiful gardens with some lovely places to have a picnic lunch and enjoy the views..you are welcome to come inside and see the fantastic stained glass windows and take in the atmosphere

Great place to visit on our first visit to New Zealand. Christchurch was our entry point and greatly admired the town and its architecture including the transitional cathedral, but most of all the people of Christchurch and their optimistic resilience

Great hostel - good location, friendly staff, reliable WiFi, delicious free hot porridge for breakfast, comfy rooms, and spacious bathrooms! Kitchens could be cleaner, but that’s due to messy guests not doing their dishes and not the hostel itself.

A definite attraction not to miss in Nelson. Religiously to me an amazing time, as you can go into the church. They also have services to go to during the day. Take your time ,so that you can read all the interesting facts in the church.

Yep it's an old church, yep stained glass windows. Other than that much the same as many othrs. A few bits of information around the church but all of this lacked anything special. Seen hundreds of churches now and looking for something different that makes it a place to see.

I love popping in when in Nelson. Built from Takaka marvel it had a lovely bell tower and is set amoungst lovely gardens.

Christ Church Cathedral, not to be confused with the cathedral of the same name in Christchurch, is an amazingly beautiful building which gives off such a deep feeling of peace. Love this place!

Center in town with garden. Open for the public from 9 AM until 6 PM every day of the week. You can get some relaxing hours.

Lovely and uniquely spiritual place. Loved the Christmas display that was there This is a special place and obviously well loved by those who maintain the church and grounds.

A beautiful sanctuary, brings a settling inner peace.

I strongly recommend to leave the building as it as. It's a memory and we don't have any old building in NZ like this..

Pretty much in the centre of town set in some gardens. You can't miss this church. It's open for the public to go in if you want and you get some history on it. Relaxing way to spend an hour

Walking through Trafalgar Square, which is one of the busiest streets, you can see it at the end of the street and it is a magnet for visitors.
