A.Lucy at Kathmandu ( queen street) went out of her way to offer a fabulous customer experience. I wasn't sure what was suitable for my hiking, she assisted with great enthusiasm. 🥰 God Bless her for her helpful& caring assistance.
M.Staff did their best to be helpful and I ended up buying good gear, but at least two employees didn't know what or where the Routeburn was. Not the emplyees' fault, but more training about the NZ outdoors wouldn't go amiss - it's not a good look for NZ's biggest tramping/hiking retailer.
N.Good place to shop. Very specious. Friendly staff.
D.Kathmandu is my favourite place to buy tramping and outdoor goods and this store is a good one with knowledgeable and helpful staff.

-So happy to have discovered New Zealand's Kathmandu store.
-As a wannabe outdoor adventurer you can feel the difference in quality.
-Back home in the USA we have North Face, Columbia, Under Armour, Nike, etc...
-With a name like Katmandu, it's expected that the gear has been validated to withstand nature's elements.
-Had to buy some boots & jacket for an upcoming trip to Iceland.
Overall, if they pass that test, I will purchase more gear for the not-to-distant-future, Mount Everest (Himalayas) trek.

T.I went into Kathmandu Queen Street to exchange a hiking bag that I’d purchased online as it was too small. I was looked after by Lucy, Lucy was friendly & helpful. She assisted me with all my questions & suggested some additional products that would be good on our hiking trip. Lucy wasn’t pushy but a natural sales lady with a smile who knows her products. Lucy is an asset to your team 🙌🏽

A.One of the best place to buy jackets, hiking equipment, hoodies and all sorts of winter clothing. This shop is spacious and has wide varieties of clothing and hiking accessories to choose from. There isn't much parking space available. The staff is really sincere, friendly and cooperative. Operating till 6pm, the shop isn't that crowded and the staff provides all sort of information to help you out. The materials are not that costly and are on an affordable rate.
T.Great service and good prices when items are on special or if you belong to their club. A bit pricey otherwise.
S.We had a great shopping experience in this store during our New Zealand holiday. We bought an amazing Jacket for me, which is so light yet extremely warm and a fleece top for my husband. The customer service provided by the staff was excellent and great fun. The prices were good as they had some reductions at the time were shopped there. Well worth a looksee

F.I don't know if this is the flagship of the brand but this shop has a wide range of visibly well made products sold at a decent price. Except for strategic equipment planned to be used intensively for years, like a big backpack, I do not see any reason to spend more. The long distance traveler can easily find all what is needed for a few months of tramping/trekking. Not much mountaineering equipment though.

The store has massive collection of Down jackets, raincoats,fleeces and bags to choose from. I got enrolled for membership with them and definitely will come back soon to shop more. C.Nicely laid out store spread out over two levels. Products are well displayed with plenty of room to wander. However prices are pricey for their quality, not that their bad just over priced. Unfortunately biggest size for male appears to be 2xxl, which is not big enough for me. most of their products are Kathmandu branded. Staff were friendly and helpful.
S.Amazing helpful staff, large options for hiking and outdoor adventure stuff. Bit expensive but quality is unbeatable. Has 2 stories on building and options available for all kids men and women. Famous for dawn jackets in New Zealand.
L.This shop is spread over two floors with clothing on the top floor. Good selection of clothing for hiking, travel etc as well as accessories. Expensive so I only shop there when on sale. They don't have many larger sizes.

C.Being an American expat I was raised on REI and Kathamandu is like REI's little brother who wants to be just like him but isn't quite there yet. If you're in a pinch and need backcountry gear, they'll have the item you may want but the selection is rather limited to one, maybe, two brands. If you don't have time to drive to every outdoor store in Auckland Kathmandu is a pretty good bet.
Also, they don't carry maps but there are other outdoor stores which do.
