D.I love to travel and moved to NZ about 14 years ago. I've been fortunate to visit and stay in many places over the years. The Breakers may be the best I've experienced in NZ. The location is stunning, the property is very special, and the accomodation was so comfortable. Local art in our room made it even more special. We enjoyed a two day stay just after New Year's Day to relax and unwind. There couldn't have been a better place for our break. Jan is an incredible host, full of local knowledge and with such a lovely way about her that the guests just feel at home. Breakfast was delicious and served in the dining area with another great view. (Jan even provided me with gluten-free toast on request.) We also really enjoyed the chance to chat with other guests. An added bonus is that we could order a homemade pizza after one long day. This was brought to us by Jan on our veranda one evening. My partner and I both agreed that we'll return for another stay, and I feel that Breakers will make a great solo 'retreat' escape for me in the future as well.
M.We absolutely loved our stay at the Breakers. The location is magical and truly captures the best of the Westcoast with great views and a secluded beach. Jan and Stephen are like reconnecting with old friends and have a passion for sharing their corner of the world. The room was amazing and the sunset from the deck was so special. We had a great breakfast in the morning and set out to explore the area. We will be back and would recommend it to all.
W.We stayed for one night as our pre trip departure for the transzalpine train from Greymouth, we fell in love with Breakers Boutique. Jan is an amazing host, goes the extra mile for her guests. She shared some amazing stories with fascinating history of the area whilst having breakfast. A warm welcome with a beautiful home cooked pizza and wine with a great variety options for breakfast the following morning.
Prime location with the most incredible sunsets. The Sunset Suite was very spacious and comfortable. It had everything we needed including an amazing view.
We will definitely be back for another magic long weekend and highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

This is a “ must stay “ on the West Coast
It has the most incredible views out over the Tasman Sea from your room or the spa pool!!!!
The beach in front is dramatic with a waterfall cascading down on to it .

L.After spending two days here at Breakers Boutique Accomodation earlier in the year, I knew I would return. The setting of Breakers on the West Coast is beyond beautiful, but that is not the only thing that drew me back. Jan and Stephen Roberts are the two most amazing hosts that I have had the pleasure of staying with and I have travelled extensively throughout New Zealand and overseas. You are made to feel at home instantly, and any questions or enquiries about the area or places you wish to visit are answered with such knowledge as they are both locals. But it doesnt end there, they will take you, explain to you, and for a photographer like myself this was a unique oportunity to visit and capture off the grid and off the beaten path adventures. They will cater to your food needs and the breakfast choices and quality is top star quality.
Waking up and going to sleep with views over the coast of sunrises and sunsets is astounding, the quiet and peace, and absolute luxury of the rooms simply leaves you in awe.
W.We recently stayed at the Breakers Boutique Bed and Breakfast for three nights. When we arrived late in the afternoon after a day’s travel, we were greeted by Jan who helped us with our gear and showed us to our beautifully warm unit. Immediate relaxation! The sound of the ocean and the low mist added to the atmosphere. We greatly appreciated the pre-ordered pizza (made by Jan which was delicious) which meant we did not to have to venture out for an evening meal.
The unit was well appointed with a comfy big bed and bathroom with a good shower. Continental breakfast was all we needed, although a cooked breakfast was offered.
Jan has a wealth of local knowledge which she willingly shared and helped us plan our time most efficiently. She gave detailed information on routes and scenic spots that we might otherwise have missed.
Breakers was our first stop on this recent trip to the West Coast and the hospitality we enjoyed set the tone for our holiday. We highly recommend. Thank you Jan and Stephen.
K.We ended up here at the last minute when prior accommodation fell through the day before we were due to arrive. Jan was an amazing hostess and was very accommodating for us seeing as we weren't really her regular type of guests. (here for a sporting event not really relaxing and sightseeing). Her pizza was superb, breakfast was delicious, views were stunning. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
A.This accommodation was a slice of paradise on the West Coast. Jan was an outstanding hostess who looked after us from arrival to our departure. We would of stayed longer. The accommodation is of exceptional standard and the furnishings, artwork, photography (most taken by her husband) linen is of extremely high quality. The breakfast is awesome and tasty and Jan is one of the most obliging hosts. We highly recommend Breakers Boutique Accommodation. We will be back.
M.Breakers is a fantastic B&B on the west coast of the South Island. Super location just minutes from Greymouth and spectacular West Coast sites and hikes. Jan & Stephen are phenomenal hosts full of local insights and eager to share their knowledge and enthusiasm. We've stayed there on two separate occasions and loved it. Access to your own private beach for strolling and watching fabulous sunsets.
Rooms are super comfortable, beautifully decorated with local crafted woodwork and all the best amenities. Breakfasts are lovingly prepared and served in the main house at a beautiful table with views out to the sea.
We can’t say enough about the warmth and hospitality. I wish we could stay a week as there is so much to see and do beyond the nearby "classics" of Punakaiki and the famous Pancake Rocks. Rest assured that all you need to do is ask and Jan will do everything she can to suggest options to meet your particular interests.
This is a truly top find. Don’t miss it!
