Beautiful cafe nestled into the leafy corner of Arrowtown’s Main Street. We enjoyed sitting outside among the trees and vines on a hot autumn afternoon. Coffee was delicious and staff were very nice to deal with. Will be coming back for a larger meal.

Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Postmasters. The menu caters for all dietary requirements. Staff were friendly, the service was quick and the Cafe felt very clean. The outside eating area felt private and comfortable.

Wonderful place to have brunch after enjoying the Sunday market in Arrowtown!! Very friendly staff and the food was delicious 😋

Impressive service and friendliness, especially the younger lass that was opening up. Directed us to some seating even though it was 10 to opening. Was really pleasant eating here. Excellent selection for all dietary wants and needs. Full vegan, full carnivore, DF, GF the lot. We will be back

Lovely place for a hot drink and a sweet treat. The hazelnut brownie and ginger loaf were delicious. They are family friendly and they provided colouring in pencils and paper for our daughter.

Very nice restaurant. Our group had a choice of soups. I had the seafood chowder, and my wife had pumpkin coconut soup which she let me taste. Both soups were excellent. Our main course was a sandwich divided into four triangular parts. Each triangular sandwich segment was different. Each was very good. The venue was tastefully decorated, clean and neat. The restaurant was divided into multiple small sections. This design reduced the ambient noise level so that we could chat with our table mates easily. This meal was included in the price of our tour so I don't know what it would have cost. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. I recommend this place.

Had a wonderful dinner on a hot summer day in Arrowtown. Great service, and great food too, and a good drinks menu. Their food is simple, with fresh ingredients and good flavour. Gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options available, which was important in our case. Thoroughly recommended

Average food and beverage. Burger was not come with fries or salad. You need to order separately. Burger for $18. Coffee was ok. Staff was ok too. The waitress said to me enjoy your meal without looking at me. Lack of hospitality mind. I wouldn't go back.

After getting recommendations from family members and doing some googling for places to eat during our stay in Queenstown, we ended up at Postmasters. They have a wide range of Gluten free, dairy free and vegan options ~ which was important for us. It was very hard for me to decide what to get as there were so many options! Finally decided on the Buckwheat Waffles. I was very impressed! Delicious buckwheat waffles with bluerries, bananas and dairy free ice cream. I'll definitely be back again. Amazing food & great service.

Charming old heritage building which used to be postmaster office hence name. One of only place on Main Street that has outdoor area for eating , a safe haven from all cars on street which spoil township. Staff offered a warm welcome and were very friendly and courteous . Switch is the coffee not for me , I prefer a strong coffee and ordered double still I found it weak, but that is personal choice. However the bounty bar with coconut and dark chocolate was melt in mouth. Cosy, charming and highly recommended. Thank you

Had a lovely night dining in Postmaster. It had never let me down. Visit so many times in the last two years, and every single time is always with perfect food and outstanding service!! Our waitress is very friendly and the venison she recommended is so delicious that you should not miss it. My fillet steak is cooked beautifully just right, tender and juicy... Will definitely come back and highly recommended to everyone!!

Fantastic breakfast!! The food was amazing, I had the Special Delivery big breakfast which was very tasty, especially with a side of smashed avo which I thoroughly recommend. The baked beans were definitely a highlight. Wife had buckwheat pancakes which she said were awesome too. Coffee was also very good.

Very delicious breakfast. However the price can be too steep. The sausage I ordered extra (as seen below) was 6 dollars. Too much since the 2 eggs on toast were already pricey.

Food: 6/5 Fantastic. Really very, very good. It's worth it for just the food. Service: 3/5 Eager and friendly, yet woefully undertrained (relative to the food). If I want help with your great (and local!) wine list, it shouldn't take me asking three people to get a half decent answer (although the woman behind the bar was very helpful). If I would like some bread to finish the copious amount of delicious mussels sauce which you've given me no way of eating, don't start putting it in the system just to require me to ask if I'll be charged for it (I will), instead of just giving it to me (little gestures go a long way). But, clearly the wait staff care and have the requisite potential (it's hard to teach kindness). Just give them a little training and this place will be perfect. Summary: It's more than worth it for the food.

Very cute cafe in a very cute little "old town". Indoor and outdoor seating with a lovely garden view. Good menu and good service, food was all beautifully presented and was absolutely delicious. Would definitely come back here, had a perfect lunch at this "chocolate-box" pretty spot.

Came here for lunch while visiting arrowtown for only 2 hrs. I chose baked salmon with brown rice and edamame,,,the taste was good. Tried rosé for the drink. The staff was helpful and friendly.

A relatively well kept garden seating area with good coffee. The staff weren't top notch though with their customer service. Perhaps they were overwhelmed as it was their annual long lunch. Nonetheless the falafel share platter looked decadent, it was decietfully meh.

Beautiful breakfast, herbal tea and coffee all fabulous. We sat on the front verandah, our waitress was friendly and efficient. Beautiful view, gorgeous gardens as well.

A very lovely location with waiters and waitresses the most friendliest I’ve met in South Island! They briefed us through the entire menu and it was so exciting being able to dine with people so passionate about their food and produce. We ordered the postmasters platter and adored the homemade oatcakes, chutney, the cheese from down the road, beautiful selection of breads and dips and olives as well as the salmon and venison, mm-mm! Dessert was a simple sorbet and raw cheese cake. We left very satisfied!

I spent the morning hiking, and when I came in to town for lunch I discovered Postmasters by accident. It was SO incredible. I was worried there wouldn't be enough vegan options, but there were so many that I had a hard time choosing. The warm cauliflower salad with tahini dressing was perfect, and I couldn't get enough of the crumble. The ladies were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend

Postmasters was phenomenal! Popped in for a coffe and quick bite before biking in the Arrowtown area. Carrot cake was delicious and cappuccino was exceptional. Highly recommend!

Feel very 50/50 about this place. Our waitress was a sassy ‘Karen’, which soured our experience a bit. The farmer’s breakfast was good; delicious roti and sausage, the rest average, although no seasoning and we bought sauce for $3, received a tablespoons worth and it tasted like it came from a jar. The waffles, these were very disappointing and our banana looked like it had been peeled and left out overnight - it was black and grey. The waffles were hard to eat.

Such a cute intimate little restaurant. The food is yummy and affordable and the view, atmosphere and service is exceptional! Absolutely LOVE!!! This is fantastic for a small group wanting to be able to have a small intimate dinner.

Very good food and wine and very cozy and pretty place. That being said, service could be improved. They were a bit full when we arrive and they were having a hard time servicing all the tables and it took a while for them to get to our table and take our order. Definitely recommend visiting this restaurant, but would be very very patient while you are sitting there.

I was welcomed by this lovely staff who helped me to find a table and order my usual cappuccino. She's energetic and positive without sounding bossy or in a hurry. Coffee was great and I ordered a delicious caramel slice for $7. Chocolate icing was really good! Recommended!

Stopped in for a coffee when in Arrowtown. Had a nice set-up inside and got a really good coffee.

The food was great, although it took over half an hour to serve it and the portion size was somewhat small.

Thank you Post Master for a great lunch. With some of our group having food allergies, your menu was full with a large number of options for us to choice from. And it all tasted amazing, and thats very hard to get. Well done on catering to the food allergies sufferers so well. Keep it up.

The menu has a lot of gluten free and dairy free options and the service was great. My husband said the pulled beef burger was his favorite burger ever which is high praise. I found the chowder light on seafood and thick and goopy in texture - I think because of the thickener they use in place of cream because it’s dairy free. If you need to avoid dairy it would be a good option, but the burger was the winner (with excellent, crispy, fresh tasting rosemary fries).

Visited Postmasters every couple of days for the start of January 2021. The staff are lovely, and what's more they were really great with my allergies and intolerances. They are the only place I've been able to find who can do gluten-free, lactose-free and nut-free meals and drinks. It's also just a nice atmosphere, there are plenty of tables inside and out in the garden with plenty of shade. Five stars!

Excellent food in a quaint little town. The postmaster platter was an great way to be introduced to the house made produce, including crackers, bread, dips and olives.

We were staying in Arrowtown for the weekend, Saturday morning we wandered round looking for a place for breakfast and found Postmasters. Great food, great staff! very attentive and good-natured. We had the Fry up, as it was being put down one of the poached eggs rolled off my partners plate LOL it was so funny, they cleaned it up and replaced it immediately. Needless to say we returned for dinner by candle light, it was wonderful, the mulled wine went down particularly well! All the staff were great! Particulary the Irish waitress who we had both Saturday morning and night, she was great fun, great sense of humour and made our visit even nicer. Needless to say we went back for Sunday breakfast before heading home. Highly Recommend!

We ate here twice, lunch and dinner, and the meals were outstanding. The chefs clearly take pride in creating thoughtful delicious and healthy dishes. We had the house smoked salmon, lamb,and risotto. Fantastic. Wait staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!!

Sadly we were rather disappointed with our meals here. They have some really good reviews so we’d been looking forward to visiting Arrowtown and having breakfast at Postmasters. The coffee and customer service was wonderful! I ordered the kumara bread / muffin split with mushrooms and pesto. It all tasted boringly ok but the limp undressed greens, mushrooms slopped on the plate and general presentation really lacked any kind of finesse or pride in plating. Hubby ordered the big breakfast which was nice. The hash tasted good the bacon was crispy but again, the limp undressed greens let the dish down, and his eggs had a very strange black ring around the whites?

There wasn’t one part of this lunch that wasn’t wonderful! Such high quality food and kind, attentive service! We got the seafood chowder, monkfish tacos and falafel, all of which were amazing with incredibly fresh ingredients. It has hard to choose though because the rest of the menu was so wonderful. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Incredible coffee too!

The food here is very good the restaurant itself is a historic building and in lovely condition the reason for the three star's is l am afraid is the staff they do there job's but that's it but to make a restaurant five star's it not just the food it's all so the staff

I've been here twice and have loved both visits. The staff were really friendly, professional, and accommodating. The menu had a large variety of options for all dietary requirements. I like the wording of 'From the Earth' 'From the land' and 'From the sea' to differentiate dietary preferences. The food was fresh and delicious. We will be back.

First went here in 2003 and enjoyed it several times over the following year while we lived in Invercargill. Was very pleased to see it reopened and what’s more the decor and food haven’t changed! Which sounds like a dig but it’s not - all the old staples were there - big breakfast, seafood chowder, bolognese on toast, hot chocolate overflowing from bowl cups - it was wonderful comfort food as the snow fell outside. The only downer was the ‘smashed avocado’ which consisted of cold chopped tomatoes on a bagel with a spoon of cold mashed avocado on the side - were it not for that disappointment it would have been a five star meal for the price. Go there - but don’t bother with the avocado.

The breakfast dining experience at Postmasters was wonderful. It was a fresh morning, so the table reserved next to the fireplace was very welcomed. We were greeted by lovely staff who showed us to our seats and took our coffee order nice and quick. My parents enjoyed the Special Delivery breakfast each, it looked incredible. Thankfully there were no food envy vibes when my Smashed Avocado with bacon arrived *insert drool emoji here*. I will highly recommend Postmasters to friends, and can't wait to return for dinner!

Excellent restaurant, warm and cosy with a fire on a cold winter's day. Lovely atmosphere in an old cottage. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Lunch was absolutely delicious, good size portions, and well priced. Good sized pot of tea was an added bonus. Absolutely recommend this restaurant.

This place has a lovely feel to it, inside and out. Our waiter was great. The chowder, served in a bread bowl, was good. The pie wasn't a pie, it was a stew with an ill fitting pastry lid, disappointing. I have mixed feelings about this place, it's a nice place to go, but beware what you order.

The menu here is refreshingly varied and the food is excellent. The staff were friendly and professional but service was slow (possibly they weren't expecting to be so busy). Will visit again when I get a chance.

It is an old building, so not very well insulated. But it does have character! So expect to be in a few layers if you are sitting next to a wall or window and it is cold outside. Staff did well with the constant influx of people, greeting everyone who walked in quite quickly and finding them a suitable place to sit. Really enjoyed our breakfast here. Great place to sit and watch the world go by if you have the time.

Always great But sadly this time round the eggs benedict was a little disappointing. Hollandaise was runny, eggs were over cooked with small amounts of bacon and spinach. But the service was great as always! I'm sure it was just a one off.

Did the post masters long lunch, good event and food was ok but could have been better

We had a beautiful dinner here. Everything we ate was delicious, with the standouts being the lamb and venison mains. My god, this was the best lamb we have ever tasted - melt in your mouth and expertly cooked. We especially liked the fact that the dishes had some interesting twists (mint and pistachio pesto with the lamb; chocolate nib sauce with the venison), without being over-worked, which allowed the top-notch ingredients to do the talking. Service was friendly, warm and attentive. Absolutely wouldn't hesitate to come back. I would make a detour to Arrowtown to eat here!

The chips were fantastic...tea good..coffee good too..... service all over the place. You guys really need to get this under control. Other than that nice place ..will go back again and see if service has improved. Fingers crossed 🤞

My partner and I just had breakfast here, service-amazing, atmosphere- relaxing, food- absolutely delicious! So many gluten free/celiac friendly options!! To die for soy caramel lattes!

The service could have been a little better, but what he lacked in experience he made up for in enthusiasm. The food, however, was divine. The cheese puffs, which easily could have been a bland experience, were served with a spicy chili jam that complemented them remarkably. And, the healthy salmon was served with shredded beet and spicy nuts that brought out remarkable flavor. A deliciously unique and delicious experience.

It's a cute little tea room right on the Main Street. The furnishings are plush, but it still seemed comfortable rather than stuffy. There was lots of parking around, at least in the autumn. Takeout took a little while but it was a nice place to sit, with nice furniture and a fireplace. It feels like someone's living room. The flat white was good. The carrot cake was not. It was too sense and too sweet, and there was some spruce I didn't like. It tasted way too much like the McDonald's carrot cake I'd tried shortly before in New Zealand for comfort. The cream cheese frosting was okay, not too old and hard, and probably The best part. It came with a little side cup of yogurt or cream, which was odd, but the yogurt was fine. The scone was good, dry, as I think it's supposed to be, with fresh butter and a nice jam. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and in no rush. It looked like a place locals go to sit. They definitely wouldn't rush one out.

Went there twice, both times for lunch in two days. That's how much we all enjoyed the pasta, falafel and chicken liver pate. Definitely will be back there will the quality of food they serve there. Keep up the good work!

Every time I go to visit my family in Arrowtown we go to lunch at Postmasters before my flight home – a great family tradition. Today, they didn’t have my favourite Mussels dish on the menu, but the Chef prepared it for me anyway. Now that’s service! Great food. Great atmosphere and amazing staff. A must-do in Arrowtown!

Today we had lunch at the Postmasters Cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals & mulled wine with the log burner keeping everyone warm from the cold winter temperatures and rain outside. The service was friendly and prompt

Really picturesque place to have brunch or lunch, with delicious food and great service. The chicken pie was outstanding

6 of us dropped in for late breakfast and had some of the best muesli, pancakes, Avocado on toast and very tasty bacon with gorgeous coffee. We were served by two waitresses and it was not busy. The table next to us had a young girl having breakfast with family and they brought out a cup cake with a birthday candle on top of it and sang happy birthday to her. A lovely touch. I would definitely recommend to friends.

Very nice setting great for a nice day. Good food even smoothies were tasty. Staff were pleasant and capable Only thing I didn't like was they try to get a tip at the till we spent nearly $400 however this appears isn't enough for them.

Lovely terrace and great ambience. Went here for breakfast, but was a little disappointed with the quality of the food. Everything is presented rather pretentiously, whilst the actual perpetration is below par. Watery eggs (not runny, watery), leather-like bacon, rubber mushrooms. But then again, it is a beautiful little spot.

We were looked after by young Alex who was a delight. We were in a hurry so we ordered the sole pan fried and venison. Alex did not ask how I wanted the Venison cooked which was a good sign - there is only one way to venison - pink. When both mains hit the table we both smiled. The fish was well cooked and surrounded by lovely vegetables- the venison was pink and surrounded by kale and a chocolate jus with a hint of mustard. We both gave the dishes 10 out of 10. I did not have wine this night but thought the wine list is very average for a restaurant with such great food.

Very accomodating with 12 of us all at once. They make the most of a small space but the outdoor area is well set up. Inside is very cosy next to the fire. Staff needed a little prompting but could have just been be a hand or two short at the time. Coffee was good and bacon was nice and crispy!

Good service by staff. The espresso martini was nice and so was the mussels as loved the broth. Sadly the venison presentation was horrible as placing the meat on a bed of mash potatoes made the meat soggy as the meat was cooked medium rare but due to mash it spoiled the flavour and it was a lil on the overcooked. It was hard to get a good shot of the venison since it looked like a someone placed it angrily onto the plate same goes for the mussels on plate presentation.

Food was excellent, nice atmosphere

I only eat breakfast here and one other place in arrowtown nowadays (unwind). Postmasters is a delight. The staff are lovely and friendly and the service is quick and attentive. The bread is awesome (you can buy it from the arrowtown bakery called the postmasters mix). You can mix and match options and the scrambled eggs are yummy.

Delicious hot drinks and really good food, suitable to gluten free, dairy free and vegan requirements. Lovely staff.

Have been here twice during our stay in Arrowtown. Breakfast we can recommend the pancakes and for lunch I can only but drool over the venison burger. Coffees are great and the service is outstanding.

Very accommodating to my allergy diet friend - she thinks the alternative milks did well in the coffee. The brownies are sex on a plate and the chai was delightfully spicy. Amazing!

WARNING! Stop reading if you aren't a meat eater! No seriously of course Vegetarians are catered for but the reason I'm writing this is the magnificent Carpaccio Venison.
