Reviews of Bestie Cafe
D.
Amazing coffee that alone would be 5 stars. Service was great. Sadly the hotcakes missed the mark bit on the under side and could taste flour. But great amount of maple sauce
A.
Excellent service. We had a delicious and perfect brunch. A must visit place for all cafe lovers in Auckland.
B.
Cafe is at the end of an arcade, with a nice view of the cityscape. Quick food service (city priced) by courteous staff. Just enough to fill our hungry stomach. Would recommend for friends to try.
T.
Wowsers! This place keeps getting better and better. This is my third visit over a few years and today’s blew my mind! Coffee was delicious and the food was out of this world. The chilli fried eggs, with halloumi bites we’re the best! Lovely hosts .
E.
First time here couple days ago was on my way to an early morning meeting.
Decided to stop by and enjoy my breakfast before heading to the meeting.
Wonderful view from the sitting area, breakfast with Sky tower.
$23 roast beef dinner, good value for money.
C.
One of the best cafes I’ve ever been to
Was in Auckland for 3 days for work and went here on day two, went back again on day 3 but really wish I’d found it on day one
The service is great, the coffee is great and it’s a really pleasant spot to sit and have breakfast, plenty of natural light and high ceilings make it very nice place to be
The highlight was still the food with plenty of options beyond the tired staples of most cafes. I forget exactly what it was that I ordered but it was so, so, so delicious and the portions were huge. Everything was flavourful and even though I was absolutely full at the end of it I didn’t want it to end
O.
Came here with my besties and it did not disappoint. We were seated quickly on a Saturday, the staff are good at playing table Jenga. Service was friendly and not too hipster. The atrium atmosphere was electric and was fun to sit by some huge pot plants. Family friendly, good for groups, girl gangs, brunch dates and normal dates. Good selection of vegetarian options, coffee was superb and Halloumi fries were perfect. Servings were generous and presented to perfection. The cabinet treats looked delicious but we were too full from the real food. There are too many things to try.
D.
Great spot to eat in St Kevin’s Arcade on Karangahape (aka K) Road. Excellent views over Myers Park, the Sky Tower and the rest of the city centre. Good menu if a bit on the pricey side ($30 for the full English breakfast is the most expensive that I’ve come across). Gets pretty busy at the weekends so better to come earlier rather than later.
S.
While sipping my deliciously made Flat White and enjoying the surrounding, I thought I'd write a review about this cafe. Bestie it's called, situated right in the middle of arcade in K road. Beautiful, rustic and lovely decorated with real plants to freshen the eyes. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. The view of sky city and Myers Park is another gem that this place got. Certainly coming back for more! :)
J.
We got the chili fried eggs on sourdough with potato hash and the flatbread chorizo and fried chili eggs. The latter was really good and full of flavor. The eggs on sourdough was underwhelming. Not a lot of flavor but the chili was nice. The sourdough was very thin as well. As you can see not a lot on that plate. Service was quick, staff was friendly even though it was quite busy.
The menu is quite small and simple (which isn't a bad thing) and they were out of 2 things. So that made the choices very limiting.
B.
It has a fairly nice location at the back of St. Kevins Arcade overlooking Myers Park. Quite a few tables so it wasn't hard getting one.
The menu is very interesting and the options are different from standard cafes, which is a good thing. They have plenty of gluten-free, and vegan options, which is rare.
I tried the almond rolled egg with curried pumpkin hummus. It wasn't what I was expecting, a deep-fried egg in an almond crumb. Instead, it was a (perfectly) boiled egg rolled in sesame seeds. After the initial disappointment, I tried it was blown away with the flavour. It tasted of a nicely spiced curry with the bhaji giving crispness and the pickled fennel adding a bit of tartness and sweetness. I do feel there should have been a bit more almond in the dish.
The hot chocolate here is alright. They also have cabinet food inside the shop if the menu items didn't pique your interest. Nice cafe, probably for those with dietary restrictions, but also nice if you don't have any.
P.
The service was great; very attentive and kind. Unconventional brunch menu: I had a lamb shwarma which was delicious and although plated with beauty & abundance, I would have appreciated the pita served on top for easier eating. Conventional boyfriend ;) was able to piece together some eggs, bacon, and potatoes but he felt the hash seemed oddly fried. The arcade is a gorgeous place to eat though the acoustics are challenging.
T.
Bestie Cafe serves delicious espresso and an impressive range of freshly baked sweet treats. To accompany my soy latte, I was compelled to buy a Black Forest cupcake which was chocolately, unctuous, moist, tart with vibrant raspberry infused flavour and fresh cream on top. It was a highly impressive cake!
I’d like to return for another coffee and munch next time!
C.
If you're looking for very good quality brunch then come here, the menu is small but what is offered is done incredibly well. My eggs and bacon on sourdough was cooked to perfection! Really friendly staff also and a beautiful setting with the large window with the sky tower in the background. They also come to your table with a pitcher of water straight away which is a very nice and thoughtful touch. 😊👌🏻
G.
Bloody good breakfast. The freedom loaf is delicious. I had it with the charred asparagus and rice crackers (gf, df). The toasted muesli disappeared faster than something very fast. I’m told the coffee was “one of the best” and the view is pretty cool too.
D.
Food and coffee was great, ambience was lovely however service was a flop ..... just took forever for the server to come give us water , menus and the bill. The staffs weren’t friendly either, where don’t they smile ? I’ve ended up going up to the front and ask for menus. Idk maybe I should give a 3 star instead ?
E.
Love the grilled cheese with pickles! Really nice strong coffee too. Its a good casual place to hang with friends. They provide table service for meals and staff are always attentive and nice.
T.
Very much enjoyed my experience here at Bestie, a unique setting with cool views of the city at the window seats.
Service is super friendly & professional and the food is well presented and tasted good. I recommend the fried chicken and the doughnuts. Excellent coffee as well.
J.
What a find! Makes me wish I lived near this place. The music, staff, decor & general ambience are timeless - you could tell me it was *any* year in the past 50, and this place would fit the bill. The food was Divine. We came out wanting pancakes - he felt like ice cream & strawberries, I wanted bacon & maple syrup - and these little beauties came with both. A good metaphor for the place actually: a delicious little surprise to savour.
M.
Really nice cafe for breakfast! We've had the granola topped with coconut cream and the bread with scrambled egg and bacon! Really good!
B.
Once I discovered Bestie, I couldn't stay away. The Towpath grilled cheese sandwich is heavenly. Great coffee too.
Lovely lovely staff and nice view of the Sky Tower.
R.
Very busy on Sunday and short on tables because of space and staff reluctant to have us share an4 person table which was being used by two people. Other than that it is a nice cafe great coffee they use eight thirty which is a favourite of mine. I was naughty and had hot cakes with salt caramel ice cream. My husband had spiced lentils both good.
J.
Brownies were absolutely DELECTABLE. Some sort of toffee swirled in there... probably one of the best brownies I've ever had, and I've had... A lot... Of brownies. Curly fries were Denny's Quality (high - don't challenge me) and that sauce that same with them? WOW. Simple yet so good. AMAZING views, lots of table availability. Such pleasant vibes from this whole place.
E.
Excellent. Great coffee, really good vegetarian options. Creative menu. Will be going back soon.
A.
I swear this is the best vegan cupcake in Auckland! Moist and rich chocolate topped with chocolatey (probably coconut) cream and a praline.
Vegans and non vegans alike need to come try it! Highly recommend
강.
Me and my mates went this morning, it was very nice atomosphere, and one of staff i couldnt get her name but, she was very friendly.. eventhough she forgot our order haha.. but after she realised it she make it up for us right away.
We had spicy chorizo, cheese tostie and french toast and they were delicious !!!!! Must try food !.
Oh by the way cheese toastie bread was a bit burn.
But thank you for all your hard work. It was really great!
R.
SO delicious. Coffee was great and we ordered the chorizo flatbread and the pork belly bubble and squeak. Both were fantastic. The chorizo is probably spicier than most would expect but its perfect and matches the generous assortment of pickles amazingly. Pork belly comes with a delicious chutney and both have perfectly gooey fried eggs
J.
The chefs here are some of the best in Auckland. Try the tomatoes on toast. This Cafe is NOT to be missed!
C.
Great breakfast/brunch. Varied menu. Delicious food. Great coffee. Really friendly service. Would definitely recommend.
R.
Cool cafe tucked away on K Road. Would highly recommend the cheese toastie with spicy fried egg and jam, a really good meal for the price! The coffee was okay, but tasted burnt.
c.
Great little cafe deep inside st Kevin's arcade on K Road. Nice big sunny bay window overlooking Myers Park. The food and service was good.
R.
Very lively. Always busy. Large servings. Great views. Good value. Noisy and excited. One of the best inner city Bohemian style cafés. Loyal clientele.
C.
Vintage style simply great food with a view.
Try the Cinammon scroll, a blast, friendly classy waiters in style. An Oasis of rest on Aucklands infamous buzzing K-Road.
D.
One of my fav cafes in Auckland. Lovely atmosphere, coffee, food and service. Super easy to access from K rd, tucked away in a bright sunny space looking out over Myers Park. Good spot to relax with a friend or notebook and a cuppa.
b.
Where to begin
Atmosphere fabulous
Coffee, important, very fabulous
Food is amazing and most importantly they accomodate your whims
Leave the car and grab a bus to this eclectic location
C.
Nice location in Stock Kevin's Arcade, the menu is a bit limited and the staff were a bit aloof. The food we had was nice.
J.
Best hash brown I've ever had. The rest of the food was good too. However if they're so packed that there's a wait for a table then I wouldn't bother; K Rd has many other excellent cafés to try.
L.
Cute little cafe with great views and cozy location. The dirty chai latte was simply delicious and the coconut vegan loaf probably the best loaf I ever had! Keep it up guys, I will definitely come back next time :-)
M.
Coffee and food was good although the breakfast menu was limited
J.
Always friendly and helpful staff. Their menu items look delicious. I get food to go as their cabinet food is very tasty
P.
Peach, elderflower ice tea was sooo good. I ordered the peanut doughnuts with bacon really good. And it's very open and bright with lots of plants super cool. Right out side is a great park to walk through.
D.
Called in here for Bike Auckland breakfast (thanks to K Road Bussiness Association) on Thursday 5 April 2018. Had delicious latte with coconut milk - yum, and this awsome meal. Chorizo & fried egg on pita with a selection of pickles (my gut health won't know what hit it).
H.
Once again Bestie was brilliant. We were a group of 15 who arrived at staggered times and the staff didn't miss a beat. The food is innovative and delicious. It is a lovely, spacious place. Highly recommend.
V.
Delicious coffee, great view and great food
Happy and helpful staff
Perhaps only downside is that it can be a little cold in the mall as the seating is
R.
Love this place ... the menu changes often and always has some interesting flavour combinations to try ... recommend it
A.
Awesome space with a very nice overlooking to Myers Park near Karangahape Road. There's a special coffee and a lot of options for lunch
R.
Good coffee and friendly staff in one of Auckland's finest buildings.
S.
Vintage, retro and cozy vibes at this cafe. It can be pricey compared to Coffix, but for the whole atmosphere and overall customer service, I recommend to go here for a nice brunch date 😊
R.
Cute location and interior with seating inside the arcade, friendly staff and strong coffee which was much needed to fend off jet lag after a long flight to NZ!
J.
Gorgeous spot tucked into an arcade of sorts in Auckland CBD. Totally worth seeking it out - coffee was excellent and breakfast was tasty!
M.
It's a cozy place for breakfast group meeting while enjoying vintage and use a sustainable crockery environment
K.
Lovely place with friendly service, cute & small but also very tasty breakfast options and excellent coconut cappuccino
a.
Very nice chilli fried eggs, bacon a bit crispy for my liking otherwise it would have been 5 stars.
We have been here a couple times before this visit and will keep doing so when we are down this way.
E.
Annnd stilllll... one of my favourite cafés!
10/10
A.
Searched for best cinnamon rolls in Auckland, wasn't disappointed at all!
The buns had the right amount of cinnamon, not too sweet and wonderful crust. They gave a stick of butter with them and it made the taste even dreamier!
H.
The Mochas we ordered tasted really watery and the waitress seemed to be really mad at us after we moved tables (admittedly without asking for her permission). The 3 stars are for the amazing location and view of the city and just the atmosphere of the cafe. The other waitress was lovely. Note that it's really loud there though because of the echo.
L.
Good coffee (Eighthirty c. roasters)
Beautiful space, great view on Myers Park.
J.
Best brunch ever. Great service and amazing food. I had the flatbread and chorizo. Every mouthful was a surprise of tasty, spicy and zingy flavours. The salmon fish cake was also eaten at the table and was fantastic.
Such original dishes made a good change from the usual bacon and egg variants.
Really busy and yet the service and time to serve was excellent. Thank you.
S.
The coffee is really nice, and I'm not usually a person that enjoys coffee. Dairy free milk is available. The prices for coffee and food are similar to other cafes in the area. The menu is quite creative. We ordered potato skins. The portion is large enough to be shared. While I have difficulty eating them (too crunchy), I still enjoyed them as they taste great! The service is excellent but the only significant downside is that the cafe closes down quite early - kitchen closes at 2 and the cafe itself closes around 3.
G.
The scrambled eggs were delicious and the sour dough was soft and crunchy, but not tough! The hash was delicious as well. The banana loaf was also delicious and the sour cream ice cream was quite interesting!
B.
Excellent food, with ample vegetarian options. Great location for a coffee or a meal. Being located inside St Kevins arcade, the cafe also provides a visual feast of eclectic shops, shoppers and a brilliant view over Meyers Park and the cityscape. Friendly service, too. A top spot on K' Rd for sure.
H.
Tasty food, great coffee, prompt service. A favourite whenever I'm on K Road in the daytime.
F.
Eightthirty coffee, pate with pickled egg and chutney is a wonderful wake up meal
L.
simply amazing service! I can't recommend enough. 5 stars from me. Thanks team.
T.
Chill place. Nice portion sizes, elegant but satisfying. Friendly, quirky and fun service. Nice coffees and enjoyable atmosphere :)
C.
Best place for friendly service and yummy homemade food.
K.
Beautiful Eight Thirty coffee and an awesome mediterranean lamb dish. Colourful, excellent balance of flavours. Warm in an outside-ish setting. A great birthday brunch !
A.
Beautiful decor. Such a neat location, with a huge glass wall in the arcade overlooking Myers Park. Sunshine streaming through onto the tables. I didn’t try the food but my flat white is good.
A.
Favourite cafe in Auckland City Centre. The overall atmosphere of the historic arcade is charming and is complimented by the amazing food served at Bestie. Can highly recommend the cheese toastie and french toast. Staff are super friendly and they're dog friendly
C.
Takeaway coffees were very bland and cinnamon roll was a bit too sweet. I would go back to try their breakfast though. Very cute decor and was pretty busy, so the food must be good.
M.
Delicious food and delightful ambiance! Really wish we had a coffee shop like this close to home. Had the eggs on toast, simple dish but perfectly executed. Great way to start the day!! Thanks guys!
H.
Wow
Bestie delivers on what I consider real brunch. That is, it's not generic breakfast fare, but instead thoughtful, creative and dynamic foods blurring the line between courses.
The two dishes we are were second to none. One of the best brunches I've eaten anywhere in the world.
Without flaw. A must dine experience
N.
What a gem! Really impressed with the food. The Toastie was rich and fulfilling and the Flat Bread with Chorizo was packed with flavor and goodness. Highly recommended. Hipster vibes going on and great view of the sky tower. Will be back again!
S.
Love love love this place. The views, the food, the eightthirty coffee! 😍 Everything is just perfect for brunching, lunching or just grabbing a cuppa in the city. I can't recommend this cafe enough. There are even some adorable second hand bookstores in the same arcade that have the best range of books. Hope you visit and you'll love it too.
G.
So you're in Saint Kevin's arcade and you stroll on down in your fancy clothes to go to Allelu-where-the-hell-did-it-go-ya?! Well, it's not there. It's Bestie now. Good place. Good coffee. Nice views of Myers Crime Scene, lots of seating. Food that is good. If you hate animals then they also have vegan options for you animal haters.
A.
Awesome food. Must try is vegan mushrooms. They are life altering. And my partner has a major love affair going with the cheese Toasties there as well. Staff are awesome and coffee is sure to wake ya butt up in the morn.
H.
Amazing range and prices! Will definitely be back. Thank you :)
C.
My favourite cafe. The menu is so creative, clever, and delicious. There is simply nothing like it. Kudos to the chef Nicola, all kitchen staff and the lovely servers!
H.
It's ok
E.
Easily one of the best cafes available in Auckland. Food is delish. Service was great today! I drink black coffee and It had a weird plastic taste but, other than that it's excellent every time we go!
g.
The photos are a bit grubby here😖 But for the prices, the portion sizes may look very small initially, but ended up being super filling! Food was good and would definitely come back to try other items on the menu, maybe not the fish cakes tho😖 Service was meh but it's all about the food after all!!
K.
Went to this cafe as it’s one of the top rated breakfast place on my search which was close to my place as well.
The cafe has a beautiful view of the city. I ordered flatbread dish, swapped the spicy chorizo to roasted mushroom instead and she was happy to accomodate my request. My breakfast arrived, presentation was beautiful and colorfull but when I start to eat I saw a hair sitting on the flatbread. The dish has plenty of pickled vegetable on the plate with 1 egg only and a good amount of mushroom which was great.
I ended up eating the egg and mushroom only as the flatbread itself was not good either, I ate the pickled veggies as well but it’s too much for breakfast. I am the person who loves pickled stuff but not for my breakfast. I wish atleast there’s 2 eggs with cooked vegetables instead of too much pickles. I did not say anything as I don’t want to be difficult, so instead I will not go back there again or recommend it. Left unhappy😏
D.
Coffee is good and worth it. The food does not justify the price, it's like average. Don't try spicy, it's too spicy. Toasties are fine (just fine).
L.
Simple eggs on toast /sourdough/Oat milk cappuccino. Coffee was great.
-Milk so good i had to purchase a carton.
J.
Cool cafe in iconic Auckland arcade overlooking the city. Fits the area, equivalent of Sydney’s Oxford.
Menu hard to choose from, varied and not same same. Coffee Eightthirty roasters very good. Had both caf and decaf. Both excellent, probably the decaf better more intense. Staff handled a busy Saturday morning well.
J.
Great service, friendly and helpful. Location is super nice, down the end of the cute and quaint St Kevin's Arcade. Nice view of Sky Tower over Myers Park. Coffee great, good even better. Our group tried the chorizo flatbread (amazing), breaded egg (superb) and the pb&J donuts (gorgeous). Overall highly recommended. Will be back
T.
The food here is so delicately and beautifully put together and tastes delicious. The staff are really lovely and helpful. The views are so sweet.
I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Auckland!
E.
Amazing breakfast! Highly recommended
T.
This place is so good! Better than I would have thought! It’s hipster cool and best of all the food is GOOD solid menu making sure everyone is covered, GF and Vegan options! Unfortunately missed the cabinet food (with all the sweet treats) so I’ll have to come back again!
W.
Great atmosphere and outlook. Good coffee and great food. Quick service, open on Sunday. What's not to like!
B.
Great food, amazing mushrooms but the waitress was rough when serving and I wore some of them on my white trousers!! Not impressed by the managers lack of interest. The food was excellent though.
H.
Excellent staff and great coffee
M.
Just moved to the area and was so excited to try the new coffee shops. This one is located in such a beautiful place, deep inside, upstairs, in St. Kevin’s Arcade. I came in on a Monday morning around 7:45 and the girl behind the counter was so grim! She just seemed miserable to be there and kinda put a damper on my morning. Then I got a coconut flat white and it was disappointing. I doubt I’ll be coming back.
G.
Love this place, coffee is superb, food is top-notch (I've tried all sorts of desserts, lunches, bites, it is all so delicious!). Staff is always friendly and relaxed. Great view of Myers Park and the Skytower. Fav place definitely!
R.
Great place! A little on the pricey side but you get some really interesting and delicious food! My personal fave is the flatbread with chorizo and pickles. Servers are all super nice and the location is lovely!
A.
Lovely crew serving great coffee and food!
R.
I love this place. St Kevin's arcade is unique to Auckland and Bestie does the prime location proud. Great food, coffee and service.
S.
Breakfast was awesome, coffee was great. Will recommend to friends. Great service, very busy at times, but understandable.
D.
Amazing place to chill, people watch and eat. Really good coffee. Their food is a little on the pricey side but the quality is top notch.
S.
Tried the flat bread which was great, lots of pickles and interesting flavours. Nice different brunch options. Good oat milk flat white.
E.
Very tasty food, beautifully presented. Portions could have been a little larger for the prices. But I loved that they had vegan options and the food we got was delicious!
D.
I would put this on a list of must visit places in Auckland. It's all open plan at the end of a slightly faded but trendy disreputable art decco, 1920s style mall. It backs onto a wall of old Krittle windows with a great view of Myers Park behind you. In front you can watch the comings and goings of the second hand book shops, pop-up galleries and thrift shops. We're usually served by Bran, a young Kiwi who's not sure if his future is catering or turning into a wild west cowboy. At this point you may guess the icing on the cake of this Cafe is the atmosphere, which amply makes up for their relaxed approach to the modern pace of life.
B.
Fantastic food with an awesome view, reasonably priced too! Great place for brunch.
R.
It was alright - very loud music but maybe it's aimed at a specific demographic. Food was nice and the fellow who served me was very friendly.
지.
Comfortable place to be with my dog!!
J.
I just stopped there to grab a coffee and have a break. The place is adorable and the view is amazing. Coffee quality was really good! It's a quiet calm and great place to grab a coffee and read a book!
L.
Just had a really nice sandwich and juice at Bestie. It was crispy tofu with spicy kimchi, delicious. Service was great and the atmosphere is very enjoyable.
m.
Good food but a little pricey for the amount. Coffee is best described as interesting... it is fine- just a little different in its flavour
S.
The coffee is fire but the best part is the staff they're all so friendly good vibes and if it was appropriate I would give them all a little kiss on the forehead thanks guys x
m.
Great food, fantastic location, reasonably priced and with loos so beautiful you want to take photos.
L.
Quite pricy. The coffee isn't that great. Plus it's been discovered by cyclists.
L.
Hey its PDG. Atmospheric, fun, good food, service, personality & idiosyncratic customers to beat the band. You'd expect nothing less and consistent with its geographical situation.
G.
Nice menu and very friendly staff. Super impressed at table and queue management during an extremely busy Sunday lunchtime. Attentive and gracious service.
N.
Delicious breakfast, would definitely come back if I'm in the area.
M.
Interesting and different food.
M.
Best breakfast I've had in ages. Ill be dreaming about those chilli butter fried eggs and pickles for a while :) Wish we had a Bestie in Wellington :)
M.
Amazingly yum food and excellent service. Full of flavour! Can't wait to go back when I visit Auckland again.
L.
