Service was nice, atmosphere is pretty good. It can get really sunny in the morning. Food was average, disappointed with the avo toast as it was just plain toast, not quality sourdough bread , plus average greens like you buy from the supermarket.

The setting is OK but the service was pretty slow.. to be fair they were quite busy. The food is quirky and interesting which is nice, however it wasn't really to my taste.. The ingredients felt fresh. Bonus points for having dog water bowls.

A little adventure to find the place as it's hidden in a industrial complex. The food looks amazing. Massive salmon 😮~ I was here for the Cauliflower Hash but got changed to Kumara and Chickpea Falafal, still tastes good~~

Discovered this place through a business meeting coffee... so pleased I did! The menu items all sound delicious and creative, making choosing only one thing difficult! Settled on the mushrooms in truffle oil and Parmesan with cauliflower hash, smashed avo and poached egg. YUMMMMM!!! Great coffee and service too. The only downside is that it’s not closer to home! Will definitely be back.

Really good coffee, delicious food, and great service! The food is reasonably priced ($13-23 for breakfast/mains). I love that they serve coconut sugar and have proper salt and pepper grinders. I like the 'make your own breakfast' option, haven't seen that before. The seating is a quite uncomfortable, but it's not the end of the world. Plenty of parking around on the weekends

Name pretty much says it all, it's coffee coffee coffee! We didn't come here for the food so I can't comment on that but their coffee is damn nice. Serving up beans for Society Coffee, the team here will whip up a nice cuppa for you to either eat in or have take away. I did get some nibbles to go with my coffee though, can't really go wrong with a loaf and some pastry. What adds to this is the nice vibe of the shop it self so sitting in there and just chilling is exactly what you should do here. Also lots of space for the kiddies should you decide to bring em, I say why not, gotta start em young.

Lunch here today Thursday 13 February 2020, thanks to GrabOne. Had the John Dory JD, beautiful presented with quit quail eggs, capers & the potatoe rostis were yum. Fish was to perfection. No air con though & no cold water, & menu print too small, they did bring ice wen I got up & asked. A nice refreshing glass of watermelon too. Good for $21.50 all up, bit out of my way though.

Very good taste, art , healthy combinations. I live at Hobsonville, so we driving here for the lunch. Five star, perfect. Come here many times, this time “prawn and scallops “ five stars.

My partner and I ordered duck breast and salmon by using voucher, which is great. Duck breast is very tender and juicy. Salmon is very fresh and tender.The sauce for salmon is really tasty and special. We both love the taste of black rice with duck breast as well. It's a decent and pleasant meal. Also, the flat white and lemon cheese cake is not bad.

*Updated 14/2/21: Quality wise was disappointed since my last visit. Food was cold, not as tasty, and portions smaller. Average and expensive.

A local favourite best known for their coffees: the usual options plus cold brews, chemex etc. They also have a good selection of Asian-fusion and traditional cafe dishes. Recently had their octopus and eggplant salad and the flavours were great, unfortunately the octopus was a bit chewy. They also have some cakes and muffins at the cabinet.

Always my favorite place to stop by for a clean coffee. Love their lattes into bits ;) Has a bright open atmosphere in the cafe. Friendly service. Lots of parking available (although there are no reserved parking). Also offers food from pantry and the kitchen inside the cafe. Recommended :)

This Cafe is a hidden gem for Aucklanders. They have the best coffee in Auckland. I'll be honest and say that I am very fussy wiih Coffee and have been to many cafes in my years. The beans used at Black and Gold are roasted by Society Coffee. The staff at Black and Gold cafe are friendly and kind. Highly recommend.

This place is lovely! A lot of thought has gone into the menu and every meal is well presented. The smashed avocado is delicious and the staff are very friendly.

The staff was very nice to let me have halloumi in my eggs benny even though it was not an option on the menu. The benny was fine but the crumpet was more of a pancake :/ The iced brew coffee was a little weak (I wonder if the "coffee cubes" were diluted as they were quite icey).

Love this cafe - currently my favorite cafe in Albany. The new menu is awesome and quite creative, highly recommend the kumara pancakes! Staff recently have been great and really friendly, but previously service has been a bit hit and miss, hope you guys keep it up, you are doing a great job!

This café is one of the best in Auckland. Customer service is great, the team are super friendly and nice to be around. Their coffee is always good and they offer speciality brews for the conniseur. The Vietnamese coffee is amazing and their cabinet food is fantastic. Honestly can't say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend.

New job down the road so checking out the locals, dipped in for some cabinet food. Copped the tuna toastie and a blueberry brioche. Tasty. Table food looked real good, ill be back when I got the time.

This is our absolute favourite café on the Shore. Been going for years. Coffee is always excellent, menu is awesome, and the staff are just the best. Many great mornings spent studying, reading, and catching up with friends. Really love this place.

The coffee here was really good, nice balance of bitterness from the coffee beans and well mixed with the milk. Unfortunately the food on the menu was a let down, the balance of flavours, seasoning, ingredients used to make the dishes wasn't great. It's okay but not something I would go back for.

Cafe than has been around for a long time. There are many cafes now in the area. I take my twins here for brunch on Saturdays. Coffee is special and noise level is good for talking and occasional louder noises by the twins. Previous menu was better than the new summer menu. However there are still delicious options, like the match pancakes. Want brunch? Go here.

Really great to have a smaller food option available - rather than the hefty paninis/sandwiches so often proffered - please continue with this.
