Reviews of Luna Cafe and Eatery
S.
Cute little cafe with a lot to offer. All the croissants were sold out upon my arrival but I was told they would be out of the oven in 5 min! One of the best matcha/almond croissants I’ve ever had. Soy flat white made with Kokako coffee was great, too.
Just need to be mindful that there’s no paywave when it comes to payment option and surcharge does apply when using credit card…

We had a little bit of a mix up when ordering items online and ended up scheduling the pick up for Saturday instead of Monday like we intended. Luna Cafe was super accommodating and helpful! We originally ordered two four packs of cruffins, and although they ran out of the ube cruffins, we were still given six of the items we originally ordered as well as a matcha croissant, an almond croissant and a jam danish!
In the end we got the:
$30 Four pack cruffins
- matcha raspberry
- chocolate
- black sesame
- summer passionfruit
The pastries are incredible, they're super decadent and just so full of cream. The matcha croissant was flaky and not too sweet but still amazing in every way you could possibly want. The chocolate cruffin was soft and flaky and so stuffed with chocolate cream, it wasn't too sweet but was super rich and just everything you want in a pastry. I'm very excited to recover from my croissant induced exhaustion to try the black sesame and matcha almond cruffins.
We're super grateful to Luna Cafe, they absolutely made our day :))

Good selection of pastries, scones and sweet treats. Some of the flavours they have are quite unique and I haven’t seen them any elsewhere. During level 4, I ordered the cruffins box of 6, the courier delivered them quite late so they weren’t super fresh and the pastry had gone quite soft, but the fillings were good, especially the ube halaya one.
Got this Matcha Almond Croissant at the shop and the pastry was so much better, really fresh and flakey. A tiny bit too sweet for my taste. I did expect a stronger matcha flavour but it was yum regardless.
S.
Ordered the croissants with matcha almond cream, frangipane, Pan au Choclat, berries danish (and matcha cookies but they’re not in the picture cos we inhaled them as soon as we got the package 😂) for breakfast for my little sister’s birthday and we absolutely loved everything!!
Highly recommend this place and we can’t wait to visit and try your coffee once lockdown eases!

I bought a box of filled croissants; double ube, chocolate and Pic's peanut butter with strawberry.
Size was fairly small for the price ($45 for 6pc) however when I received my box, it came with an extra piece 🥰
Texture and taste: beautifully made croissants (nice layers) and fillings were creamy but not overly sweet. Ube was especially delicious.
We also bought a couple of other food of their menu. They were rather fusion, but bahn mi was nice (although our household prefer authentic bahn mi).

The menu consists of some Vietnamese classics. Not very authentic Vietnamese food, but tasty none the less. Friendly staff and the food didn't take long to come out. The summer rolls were surprisingly small and the sauce options were not typical. Portion sizes were decent and definitely filling.

I love Luna. Always come here atleast once a week. They do the best Almond Croissant in CBD. Fact

Came here for the first time at the recommendation of another Vietnamese friend. Ordered a lemongrass chicken banh mi, a beef pho, an egg coffee and a strawberry slice.
The banh mi was fantastic - they make their own baguettes which means it’s not too hard and doesn’t cut the inside of your mouth when you’re eating it! Best part ever! The flavour and the fillings was on point too.
The egg coffee was also delicious and is served with a little tea candle warmer which I recommend blowing out after a minute or so. I left mine on for too long and it started to cook the egg slightly but the coffee still tasted great.
The strawberry tart was also nice and refreshing. Hit the spot with a coffee being quite mild in sweetness and not too hard in texture.
The pho though.... I can see other people have raved about the pho but my husband and I were quite disappointed. It tasted very bland. Maybe it’s a different taste palette than we’re used to as we often enjoy southern Vietnamese pho and that’s sweeter compared to northern style. We have had northern style before though and that had a lot more flavour than what we tried here. Not sure if the broth had been diluted too far or was under seasoned but we wouldn’t order this one again.
Still would come back for more banh mi and coffee though!

Loved how there's only a couple items to choose from. My favourite has to be the banh mi. Chicken option is the most popular with good reason. Bread is great. Beef pho (not pictured) is also really delicious, can definitely tell it's been simmering for ages. Give both a go!

I have never thought I would get to taste my hometown special treat here in Auckland, Egg coffee. And it is even better here at Luna Express. The egg were creamy, less sweet and less thick, it is well balanced. The Pho was to die for, the broth and the noodles are amazing, plus the beef is Halal. The beef Banh Mi was bang on, especially the pate. Reasonable prices, quality foods, prime location, and no I didn't get paid for this review.

One of my go tos, food is consistently good, service is super quick and staff are so friendly! Used to visit every Saturday for a bowl of morning pho before lockdown, missing those days!
I.
Twice in two days more or less speaks for itself. The food is great, noted I had beef pho both times, however, everything looks good and first pho only increased my craving. One note might be that the broth could be a little hotter, but then when it comes to the table it is at perfect eating temperature, so maybe that's being pedantic. Coffee is also great. As a fan of Kokako beans, the barrister at Luna's does them justice by producing an excellent coffee.
C.
Lovely place for Vietnamese coffee and food. Amazing vegan options too.
J.
Place looks trendy, clean and tidy. Staff were efficient and friendly. Food was ok, not very authentic and was a bit bland to my liking.
A.
This is Pho (pronouncing Faaa) and it was very freshly cooked and taste amazing, I ordered large beef and it was absolutely delightful to finish.
I highly recommend this place.
ما شاء الله من اجمل ما تذوقت ومن أنظف المطاعم 👍🏽👍🏽
M.
Amazing service and great food ! Never had such quick food to table before and delish.
N.
I had an awesome pho, and tried the hanoi’s egg coffee for the first time, love it! Nice place and friendly staff. I’ll certainly come back!
A.
The best Vietnamese outside of Vietnam (and as good as what I've eaten there)
S.
Such a great place to grab a coffee in the morning. The staff are friendly, fast at making the coffee and the overall atmosphere is nice.
M.
Unfortunately disappointing garlic cheese scone. Not enough cheese, bread-like consistency. Definitely needed toasting to make it palatable, and probably butter too.
I'm looking forward to trying their Vietnamese food though.
S.
Always a favourite place to go whenever we're in CBD. The food is amazing and I love the fact that we get to experience authentic, halal Vietnamese food which to be honest is so rare. Their summer rolls are to die for!
P.
Luna is my "new" regular coffee stop. They were the only ones open during the recent Auckland L3 lockdown & were doing contactless coffee orders so I stopped by, and thank god I did. Delicious coffee, delicious muffins/pastries, friendly staff and the best of all; they are Halal.
R.
I really like this place. It's the best pho in Auckland. The staff are friendly and the food are always at the highest standard.
When I have time I always come here to eat. I recommend this place to everyone. Their broth is delicious and the proportion is just right.
M.
Matcha croissant, ube halaya and black sesame cruffin are the must!
A.
The Vietnamese food is so tasty, and service is amazing! Highly recommend.
A.
Went to the all you can eat buffet. Passed all my expectations.
D.
Great bahn mi rolls here. Haven't had anything this good in a while
L.
Working alone in the office out of necessity and all the other cafes are closed! Thank goodness Luna is open for business in Level 3. It was fast, tasty and contactless service was fantastic!
K.
Great tasting food. Unique twist on some Vietnamese classics. Quick service and turnaround.
H.
Egg coffee!!! So excited to learn there is a place in Aucks that does egg coffee. My partner was stoked - said it tasted exactly like the real thing in Hanoi. Great service too.
A.
Amazing little place great food good coffee lovely staff. Love going there every time I'm in town
P.
Fresh, tasty and affordable. A great lunchtime option
L.
The best Vietnamese food in town and the best croissants and danishes that I ever tried.
J.
Lovely batista style and authentic Vietnamese coffee, and the chicken and vegan Pho are amazing, particularly the chicken based broth!
P.
Very impressed with the vegan pho and delightful service. Will be back
M.
Great lunch spot. Get yourself a coconut and coffee frappe, and one of their bahn mi's.
t.
Just went to lunch here and it was just OK. Noodles were overcooked and mushy. Broth was just salty, not beefy. Good on them for fresh coriander and chili but that's all.
B.
Very speedy and nice to see vegan and gf options. Found my soup a tiny bit bland but they had siracha and hoisin sauce at the tables to help yourself to so it wasn't an issue
D.
Awesome Hanoi Pho.
R.
Lovely people and $3 large coffee to 11am everyday. Hard to beat. Now $3 all day if you bring a keep-cup.
S.
The store atmosphere is nice and the staffs are friendly.
The pho was pretty nice but they overcooked the pho noodles this time :)
K.
Pho is delicious and just what you need on a cold day! Definitely coming back for the egg coffee!
A.
Coffee is really good. I had a flat white with coconut milk and it was one of the best I've had.
D.
Great food and even greater service

Good to have a decent halal option around Chancery.
I.
Very friendly staff and explained the menu in detail. Also made good recommendations. Reasonably priced.
I.
Service was good. Pho and fresh spring rolls were bland.

(Translated) The best banh mi in Auckland city 👍
Banmi here is really good. I like anti-Americanism, so I went to several places, but this one seems to be the best! 😋😋😋😋😋
