Reviews of Scratch Bakers
F.
been here few times as lockdown goes longer you try to find new cafes to go saw scratch bakers sounds like a proper bake shop which they somehow make from scratch so it should be fresh so far we have tried the plain and almond croissant, frozen beef cheek pie, steak toastie and ham brioche and their coffees the coffee were good the large size runs small all the croissants disnt taste and looks fresh the frozen pie were good when we heat at home it was moist and had a great flavor. The steak toastie was also good the brioche is a mistake the onion for me was too strong the quality of the brioche was mushy the display area for pastries and donuts looks underwhelming they all look old

Come here often for great coffee!
The small little prosciutto-truffle croissant is amazing.
Would love large version of it.
Pistachio croissant was a letdown, taste a bit too much like an artifical flavour.
Chocolate cruffin was very nice.
The place gets busy but won't let you down. Staff Is pretty onto it!
K.
Best cafe in town by far! Amazing coffee, yummy breakfast, a great looking cabinet of which everything is made on site in the bakery hence the name "Scratch" such a nice atmosphere and the staff are lovely too.

We had a catch up coffee during lunchtime at Scratch Bakers in the city and I was immediately impressed by how stunning the wooden concrete interiors were with a very urban chic feel to the establishment. The espresso was impressive that a had a couple of soy lattes and a hazelnut double chocolate meringue which was fudgey, chewy and so chocolatey. Simply divine coffee experience that warrants a lunching experience next time!

That was pretty great; easy to say that haha. Spacious, welcoming shop with plenty of seating and shelves full of tempting treats. Many of their sandwiches seem to be prepared earlier that morning, ready for toasting, and still tasted great with a dash of plated flair. Don't forget about the pies either as I wouldn't have even noticed them if my friend didn't point them out to me. They run weekly specials too so took them up on that plus a balanced Snickers donut (not your normal donut). So much to look forward to eating next time.
J.
Best cafe in Auckland, amazing service and incredible service. Healthy, and delicious.
A.
~ Best avocado on toast in town!
All food is delicious here. Good indoor and outdoor seating.
N.
Scratch never disappoint. Great coffee, really nice food, and most importantly - ambient music volume is just right, so you can have a conversation over breakfast.
S.
Travel all the way from South Auckland to try their pies. Only pie they had to sell was a pork and apple pie, this was at mid-day lol. $10 for a small pie plus trying to find parking, and parking cost about the same price as the pie lol.
Scratch bakers pastry was nice but filling was tight on the meat and pretty averaged tasting. Will have to look into opening a pie shop to show these Muppets how a good kiwi pie taste.
R.
I had a cruffin with no filling in, I asked the waitress if there is meant to be she said there was, looked at the cruffin and said 'oh yeah there is nothing in there, not as good as it could have been' and that she would update the kitchen but with no offer to replace it with an alternative or feedback which was disappointing. It was fresh but didn't really taste of much which was a shame!
C.
Really nice place makes you want to eat even if you are not hungry. Sadly we had no time so just a couple of coffees and a Berry smoothie
V.
This is my go to cafe during the week. The cabinet food is the best of the nearby cafés, and the coffee is the second best. I recommend the doughnut of the week, the ham and cheese brioche and the berry muffin.

This has become my regular haunt for breakfast and lunch due to a the quality of food and service on offer. There is a wide array of tasty cabinet food options and a modern cafe menu to select from, as well as some pretty superb smoothies and high-quality coffee. Very friendly and competent service, and the decor & layout of the cafe is perfectly agreeable for all sorts of catch-ups and casual work meetings. Well worth the visit if you are in the area.
A.
Great location, coffee, food, & friendly staff. Good English breakfast tea too 👍
M.
Great spinach scone - But it really needs some salt :) A bit tasteless. Salt makes everything taste better!
S.
Came here for brunch and it was delicious! Great options, fantastic quality and nice large portions!
V.
An ever changing array of delicious and fresh baked goods, sandwiches and salads. Would highly recommend saving some room for a sweet treat (or at least taking away for later), the lemon blueberry scones, sweet brioches or doughnuts are particularly good! Do note that it can get very busy and crowded at lunch (by which time several items may have sold out) which can sometimes make service quite slow, and the accuracy of orders can occasionally be hit and miss.
S.
Good food, great taste. A bit expensive for a casual cafe or quick lunch. Lunch for two cost around $42 or so just for simple chicken salad no drinks. Handy to offices nearby.
A.
Food tastes great but rude cashier ruined the experience. I ordered tea and the milk had a hair in it.
C.
Scratch has the most delicious baked goods! Ham and cheese brioche is a must and all of their wraps are incredible. Though slightly high in terms of price you will never be disappointed with the quality of food. Staff always very friendly, would recommend.
H.
I had the most delicious vege wrap at Scratch. Family member had the chicken just as delicious. Why can't cafes in Browns Bay match them? Columbus cafes in Oteha or William Pickering also haven't got a wrap as delicious. I'll have to travel to the city for that special treat!
C.
We had the super choloately donut. It's was amazing. Both my 2 years old toddler and me were immediately speechless to eat the donut. The ambiance was lovely and very child-friendly. The juices were well combinations of veg and fruit, which makes a perfect healthy drink without too much natural sugar.
A.
Wonderful counter treats. Try the mini espresso chocolate doughnuts, you will only need the mini.
B.
This is a lovely large cafe with 2 entrances so it's lovely and sunny. Nice food and great coffee. They have a few flavours of Brioche to choose from too. Both Sweet and savoury options. Yum
D.
My go to place when I go to Auckland CBD for coffee and other nibbles. As the name says they're a proper bakery cafe, with an amazing selection of delicious treats (donuts are awesome), pies and other baked goods. Oh and great coffee...
К.
Whenever I'm in this part of the city, I try to stop by. Their food is really good, their coffee is great, plus there is a lot of space so you don't feel rushed in case you want to catch up on emails or read or something :)
X.
Good food and very friendly staff who look after you very well
L.
Though pricey, the pork belly pie is delicious with great pastry

Honestly the best brunch I have had in auckland for quite some time!
Could not figure it out, having eaten at both Major Sprout (across the way) and this place in the last month I am blown away that this isn't busier.
My partner and I came in at about 11.30 on a Saturday and had the churros, eggs benedict and a side of fries plus coffees. All outstanding! A particular shout out to the best eggs benedict I've had in years. And whatever the tomato sauce is that comes with the fries is out of this world.
Service was also impressive. The staff were outstanding and friendly - offering extra sauce (which was needed) and even more impressive was that given it was quiet they were readying things for the next customers (absolutely what good staff does)
All up id say this: on the food front this just pips major sprout on the food front and is miles ahead in service.
P.S. Decor = stunning.
D.
Always a great place for good coffee and artisan food. Highly recommend their cakes, which caters for vegan also so that makes my daughter happy 😊

D.
Love their sandwiches. Used to be my go-to when I worked in the area. You can't go wrong with any of their food!
D.
Great food and very nice atmosphere for a good coffee with brunch. Highly recommended for catching up with friends and dates 😉
S.
One of the few places that serves actual freshly squeezed orange juice. Service is usually quite good and they have a fairly large range of food options.
B.
Amazingly delicious breakfast of creamy mushrooms. As for the cabinet good, get in early for a treat or 3!
T.
