C.A definite cut above. Visited at level three. The $10 for cheese toastie and $6 fries. The food was phenomenally good. I mean look at the photos and they don't do the four cheese toastie justice. The service was also excellent. Checked with the chef as it was a stat holiday and he had started cleaning. Checked where we were eating, because we would need napkins and cutlery, which she then provided. This place is fantastic. Thank you to the lady who served us and to the chef. We will be back after lockdown. It looks nice inside but if it's a sunny day we are still just as likely to take away to the park. Another must visit.

Extra points for being super dog friendly and having a covered outdoor area. Highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.

a.Excellent! Awesome spot. Very warm and inviting. Had brunch on mother's day. Food was delicious. And delivered very quickly. The handsome lad on dishes seemed to be doing a lovely job! Prices are great. Good value for money!
A.Very good cafe. Potentially the only Allpress coffee in the peninsula. Service is excellent. Food is very good, large portions. Would have been 5 stars but it's yet another cafe that can't ensure the egg whites are fully cooked. Runny egg whites ruin a breakfast!

Really enjoy the atmosphere, it's normally fairly full yet has this chilled family vibe.
Would recommend if you are dinning with vegan or vegetarian friends and fams as they also provide those menu options.

J.This place has improved since my last visit. Friendly service, pleasant atmophere. My fish, chips and salad very nice, but no room left to choose from big range of cakes, desserts and treats. Ideal place for coffee/tea and cake.
D.I can recommend the big breakfast, the eggs Benedict with the salmon, the mushrooms on toast and definitely the coffee. That was all I could eat in two visits so I'll just have to go back and make my way through the rest of the menu as soon as I can. Oops I forgot about the pancakes with the fruit and cream. Also really yummo.

Great tasting coffee and food
K.First time going here yesterday and I'm just disappointed I hadn't been earlier! There were 8 of us and we all agreed the service, atmosphere & vibe was on! 👌 We all enjoyed our food and were impressed by the portion sizes of all meals. The loaded fries & specialty shakes were a hit! Sorry no pic because they got smashed lol
A side note, it is a dog friendly Cafe which wasn't a problem for us just more of an fyi.
A great place to meet up with friends & family to enjoy a great meal & coffee.

L.I’ve lived in Te Atatu Peninsula for more than a year now and stopped at The Sugar Grill pretty much everyday. Never ever was I disappointed by any means! I think it is the best that could happen to an eatery: when experienced team and very much loved concept moves to a shiny new place! Thanks to management for their hard work, for keeping in mind those who are vegan and gluten-free and for serving you with a great mood alongside delicious coffee!

N.First visit to the sugar grill. Lots of parking and seating but it wasnt very busy at the time we were there. I stopped in with my partner after having lunch elsewhere that didnt serve barista coffee, so initially I was only going to get a soy latte...however I was so excited to walk in and immediately see they have a vegan menu 🎉 so I grabbed a pastry which was nice. The coffee was not strong enough for my liking but if I just asked for an extra shot I think it would have been great. The outdoor area is nice and they have a spot that you can park your dog. Really good service and chat with some of the staff.

G.Really impressed with the Covid precautions. One entrance for takeaways and another for sit down with person checking everyone's vaccine pass. Great work and shows how easy it is and sharp contrast to places where only those going to the counter are checked.
H.Beautiful food. Sliders were an excellent choice for a light lunch time snack between my friend and I. The menu is simple yet easy to read. The atmosphere within the place was relaxing and vibrant. The shining sun made the place feel extremely comfortable too!!

I come here often and am never disappointed, the serving sizes are large and the quality is great and the owner of the cafe is very friendly.
The overall atmosphere of the cafe is friendly and inviting and makes you want to come back again.
The only improvement I could suggest would be offering chilled water instead of getting your own tap water, but that's just nit-picking!
C.Can't really fault anything. Perhaps pricier than some cafes but not by much. The food portion and quality made up for that. Our dine in order came super quick too. It has a nice atmosphere and was an all round nice experience. Would most definitely go back, best creamy mushrooms I've had in a while.

D.Been meaning to eat here for a long time and finally got the chance! Had breakfast there on what was a busy day - the Santa Parade. Despite this there was somewhere to sit. Service was first rate from arrival till we left. The menu selection had something for all of us. The food was quick to arrive and it was absolutely exceptional. All four of us ate up everything! We added one of the homemade tarts to share (saw someone else had ordered it, looked amazing!). Could not recommend this place more highly! First-rate service, exceptional food! Prices were spot on for the massive plates of food we got!

L.Staff are lovely. My meal was disappointing - do not order the fried chicken burger unless you are happy with a cheap Chicken pattie that is absolutely not fried chicken. My husband enjoyed his big breakfast though. Previously I would have give 5 stars but quality of some food has definitely gone downhill lately.

C.Visited with a group and a toddler. Clean highchair available!!! A lot of folk using highchairs don't clean them after use but it's frustrating when the place you visit don't clean them but this was lovely and clean.

S.I love the coffee in this place and I love the staff members in here. The barista here really values customer's feedback and the coffee price is so reasonable comparing to other places, which is a big plus. This cafe is a very community focused place and the atmosphere is nice too. I hope the opening hours can be longer though.
A.Went to this amazing cafe today. Everything was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was to die for, and great ambience! Is perfect for coming before or after a stroll around te Atatu beach side walk, or even a coffee and a sweet treat before shopping at countdown. This place not only looks beautiful and sophisticated but also has food that tastes amazing and gorgeous staff to accompany it with. Will definitely be a regular :)
W.Update! Went today and was very pleased to report we had a much better coffee. Either the baristas moved on or they’ve got the message. Always pays to try again! Pleased I did***** Pleasant staff but bland coffee.
Having ordered two large flat whites for $10, we got weak insipid milky drinks that had 5mm of froth and no coffee taste. We complained and got two more the same. I’m not sure what brand of coffee they use but it has zero taste and the barista was pleasant enough but had no idea how to make a flat white. There’s plenty of competition out there and for $10 I’m not inclined to return. Pity as the staff are so pleasant and friendly.
S.Wow, the sugar grill is a definite hit! I got the eggs Benedict with Bacon and it was absolutely delightful. My Iced tea was great and refreshing as well! To make it even better, they’re dog friendly! Service was great just like its atmosphere. Great addition to Te Atatu Peninsula :)

l.Went today for lunch. Iced coffee was great. My partner and I both enjoyed our meals even though there was a bit of a wait- but that's expected at lunchtime and it was busy. Staff were very friendly. Would recommend and will be back again !

U.Me and my family went to check out this spot and we loved it. Like the outside seating away from the main road and also the food and drinks we ordered was delicious and looked amazing. The waiters were young but however was professional and had lovely manners and kept checking in on us which was awesome. We'll definitely be going back!

T.I really want to see this cafe do well, it’s a great addition to our community and love having another option for a midweek scone and coffee or weekend breakfast. Therefore providing feedback so I can make it my regular stop... If buying a cheese scone at 7:30am it should be freshly baked, scones need to be made each day. And nowhere is $6 a reasonable price for a scone.... (update - scones are now 4.50! Great!) know what you are thinking but my morning scone is an important part of the day!

T.A lovely, quaint little spot in the heart of the ever growing neighborhood of Te Atatu. Friendly staff, delicious food, and subtle remnants of history on the walls of the Te Atatu of yesteryear. Nice coffee, great for a lunch date. Even if wait times vary, they are only starting out in this venture so it's not a big deal at all for what it is. Very pleased overall in this fantastic cafe.
K.Good food but not so good coffee today, also this is the 3rd time we have had to wait for an age to get our coffees. Finished our food today and then it still took another 10 minutes to get our coffees.
A.Nice coffee, sweets from the cabinet would be more attractive if they were home made. Looking forward to try their menu.
Edit: Got there, new Batista, didn't know what a picollo was... Ended up with a double shot with foamed milk and no lid on TA cup :/ You should train your staff before putting them behind the coffee machine.
d.Our family of 5 visited The Sugar Grill on Monday, their first official day with their full menu! And we were super happy with our experience! Our kids loved their Chicken Nuggies and Chips along with their yummy monster milkshakes! Myself and hubby really enjoyed our Sliders, fries and iced chocolates. The over all atmosphere was great and the service from the staff was awesome. Great to see a local business using local students from Rutherford College and training them up for the hospitality industry! They checked on us numerous times and we're very friendly! Overall we were stoked with this little gem that has opened up in our community and we will diffently be back!
