Reviews of Lyttelton Coffee Co.
M.
I called in last week for a quick bite and coffee. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The coffee was hot and full bodied and the slice was absolutely amazing. Well done guys and girls at Lyttelton Coffee Co!
A.
Awesome Breakfast! Anything from a Big Breaky with Bacon and Eggs etc to something sweet with French toast. Really good coffee and OJ. Atmosphere is laid back and chill with an awesome view of the wharf. Friendly staff and overall a great place to have breakfast. Highly recommend and definitely coming back here again on our trip.
E.
Cool little cafe, relaxing atmosphere, with a great view of the port and hills.
But most importantly the coffee is EXCELLENT!!!
D.
At face value, this cafe in the port town of Lyttelton seemed small and unassuming, nothing fancy. We weren’t even planning to go here, if not for wanting to spend time to wait for a clearer weather before taking a gondola ride nearby.
So glad we came here though because for one, the coffee was just fantastic! I’m no coffee connoisseur but the hot cuppa I had is definitely on the top of my list.
The next thing I loved is the vibe of the cafe—spacious, rustic and opens to amazing views of the harbour. The staff was okay, locals here were friendly or nicely nonchalant (which I prefer, than having people stare at me because I “look different” 🤷🏻♀️).
Needless to say, I think I found the best cafe in New Zealand for me (to date). Too bad it’s 600++ miles away from Auckland, but the seclusion adds to its charm, I guess ❤️
H.
The cabinet food has a great variety, they make some really fresh and tasty smoothies too. We have been here few times now and we always enjoy our visit, the staff are friendly and helpful. Being a coeliac, I feel the staff are very accommodating of my needs. Needless to say the coffee ☕ is awesome!!
D.
Great cafe in Lyttelton Harbour, amazing breakfast and good coffee roast in the house. Highly recommended place to go.
S.
Was able to sit with a view of the harbour on a sunny pm. The walnut cake was superb. A good pot of tea. Visit often. Staff friendly like the atmosphere. Takes me back to 50tis England .
F.
Always love it here, supporting local. Chilled out vibes, DJ rocking some great tunes, food always spot on. Keep up the great service team! 👍
J.
Coming in felt a gentle breeze especially on a hot day. The chef was amazing and gave us extra love in the food and being really nice to us too! Definitely will leave a good memory!
v.
Great place, coffee iced coffee and food very popular place. Second time been there and not disappointed. Staff are so happy cheerful lot .Always busy
W.
Very good coffee roasted in house. I got the french toast, which was tasty but would have liked the toast to have soaked in the egg a bit longer and maybe the option of a small maple syrup jug to top it off. All in all though a fantastic experience in a great spot.
M.
Amazing coffee, food, vibe, staff!
Nothing can’t really bother you in your life while you drink your coffee here.
Super cool place!
W.
Great view, Good but pricey food but you can wait in line for a long time and then you get the locals chatting which is nice for them but holds up the till service. The table service was quick once you get the order in. Will go back for sure.
K.
Delicious food, great coffee, friendly staff. I've been here a few times now and the food is always great. I highly recommend stopping here if you're passing through, sit out on the back deck and admire the views or grab a street-side table for some people watching. Thanks for an awesome breakfast team! x
B.
Saturday morning things were buzzing! Cozy place with plenty of variety in food. My Mexican style breakfast was amazing. French toast also delicious. The corn fritters were spicy hot. Not pleasant for the person at our table was not into really spicy food. Staff were helpful but didn’t really apologize about the spicy food! Maybe signpost the corn fritters warning may require fire extinguisher to put out the fire in you mouth!!
J.
Nice vibe. Quite busy. Sat outside and looked out over Lyttelton harbour. Coffee could have been hotter. Will try again soon to see if it was just the once
D.
Good coffee, awesome Bacon & Egg ciabatta, divine Lemon Meringue pie. Will be back!
C.
Great spot for brunch. Ordered the nachos and big breakfast which were quite filling. Would definitely come back again.
D.
Great food, excellent coffee, cake and a fantastic vibe. Been three weekends in a row now and still loving the eggs bene and hollandaise!!
T.
Fabulous Brunch. Outdoor table on the deck on a nice Christchurch morning. Slow service due to level 2 and being an incredibly popular place to visit but the Eggs Bene was well worth the wait!
A.
The atmosphere of this place is very nice and eclectic. It’s a friendly and cozy place with wonderful food! The presentation was great, and the taste of it all was impressive as well. The coffee was like any other cafe’s coffee, but overall this was a good option for some good food.
A.
The place has a really cool vibe and decor, staff were friendly and relaxed. Menu was fairly priced, coffee was great while food was good but wasn't exceptional. In saying that, we only had a couple of brunch dishes, so I'll be coming back to try out other dishes.
H.
Love this place. Had a lovely birthday lunch. Finished off with gorgeous chocolate espresso cake. Too much but so delicious 😋
C.
The food was amazing. We really appreciated being told how long our meals were going to take as we didn’t have a booking and it was really busy. Great service and lovely environment.
L.
Epic coffee and delicious food. Will be back!
G.
Always consistent coffee, very yum. Staff are friendly but it depends who you get unfortunately as not all seem to be in the right vocation.
Savoury muffins are awesome, especially early as they are freshly made and warm. The range of food is not so great after 1 pm ish so best to visit before the lunch rush. Before it’s all gone the food range is fantastic, something for everyone. Biggest problem is that it is always cold in the cafe. A large, high ceiling old building with inadequate heating. There is a log burner so if you get a table close to that it’s ok but otherwise…wrap up warm on chilly days
M.
Good coffee great service and delicious food 😋
G.
A very bohemian, funky cafe in Lyttleton, it was a welcome coffee-break for us after a day of sight-seeing around the scenic town.
Service was friendly, the prices reasonable and we loved the feel of the place. While we only sampled their beverages, the mocha and long black were indeed perfectly made, hot and good to the last drop in the cup. The cabinet food and menu looked enticing and we would return to sample the rest of the offerings.
S.
Beautiful place to dine out on the balcony. Was super busy late afternoon on Saturday. Coffee burnt but still a nice time had 🙂
P.
Besides the yummy mince on sour dough toast, I loved the loose leaf Earl Grey tea- its best Ive ever had! Can you tell me what the Earl Grey tea brand is & where I can buy it?
R.
The coffee, food and sitting outside looking over the bay is fabulous. Favourite place to visit in Lyttelton
R.
Great vibe. Stunning building. Excellent food. Lovely outlook from the back of the cafe.
Perfection!
C.
Soy Iced late is the best. Great and big coffee shop. I like also the Ninja Kombucha.
C.
Absolutely delicious and so well priced. A great eclectic atmosphere that is inviting and vibrant with friendly staff. Highly recommended and worth the visit!!!
G.
Pretty good coffee. Wonderful views and building vibe. Love sitting here and relaxing and people watching or working.
C.
I went here on a busy Saturday morning. The place was packed with barely an empty seat. Even though the queue was most of the length of the shop, it moved quickly and the coffee was only 5 min once ordered. Beautiful view from outside, perfect coffee and delicious food! Easy 5 stars from me
B.
Amazing coffee and food even though it was very busy we didn't have to wait for our food my dog loved at too highly recommended
P.
Wonderful BLT and good coffee. Enjoyed the ambience and the views.
J.
Awesome little vibe in here! Who knew there was a Dj set playing on a Sunday afternoon. Food looks the part cabinet food was a little sparse but the cooked menu was fab!!
M.
Very nice place to visit when you are in Lyttleton. It's got nice views of the port and distinctive atmosphere. Good coffee and food. I'm giving 4 stars because of the cleanliness - I know it's super busy but the staff doesn't really clean the place during the rush hours.
V.
Great coffee, great service, thank you ☀️👌☕
J.
Great food selection super atmosphere with cheerful helpful staff. We were outside and even the dog was well cared for!!
G.
Great place with amazing staff, food and coffee to die for, wonderful view over the harbour from the back deck. Say no more.
S.
Nice coffee and a great vege breakfast. It was busy so service was a little slow but we'll be back....on a quieter day.
P.
What a cool electric Cafe on busy London St of Lyttelton. There is no sign to say this is "Lyttelton Coffee Co" as it has been gentrified from a deliric building JD Bundy, reminding me of a laneway cafe in Melbourne. A selection of delicious food items in the cabinet and a familiar breakfast/ brunch items on the menu. Warm, open, jazzy atmosphere, topped with aroma of beautifully brewed coffee.
J.
Hipster to the max with the best food in Lyttelton. Great crew! And amazing coffee ☕ 😋
M.
I visited on a wintery Saturday morning. Great vibes and veiws, really nice coffee. Very busy, but for good reason. There was a DJ actually spinning vinyl 45s for the in house music. The wait staff were really good, highly recommend a visit.
J.
Very friendly, great cappuccino. Try it :-)
t.
Great coffee and a keto friendly menu. Highly recommend
D.
Clean tidy and comfortable decor. Outdoor seating .
Great service and all the usual yummy Coffee Culture food and drinks.
R.
One off trip to Lyttleton and struck it lucky with this place. If you go to Lyttleton then try it out.
M.
Excellent food and coffee, nice setting with atmosphere. Staff are good although some have a touch of "too cool for school" attitude.
And the no credit cards rule is just plain odd. Ok, I get there is a fee, if so charge a couple % more when using a credit card. Four of us walked in wanting lunch and drinks, walked out a few minutes later so sale lost.
But still a great place!
A.
Another unsung hero. Excellent service, food delicious, coffee hot n tasty. Will certainly visit again
S.
Lovely food good coffee nice and hot thankfully the counter staff warned us that there was going to be a long wait if we hadn't been told it would have been annoying
N.
A special exisiting. You can't expect the kind of friendly and chatty service you get in other cafe, but here, you would get the most professional coffee and service. First time seen a barista serve three cups of coffee with one hand. Coffee high standard, stylish decor.
M.
The cafe itself is a little dark but the view from the outside terrace more than makes up for this.
The gluten free carrot cake was excellent and one of the few places I've seen have that option recently.
L.
Love this new found Cafe!! Vibe is great , kai is Beatiful.Family friendly!! Even a live Dj🙌🏾
F.
Excellent Coffee although a bit too much ice in the iced coffee. Followed all protocols for covid.
A.
Only have soy milk as a milk alternative but the soy fw was really delicious and not curdled at all (which is why I’m on the fence about soy a lot of the time!). Had a beetroot choc cake which was divine. Lots of veggie and gf options, a banging DJ and great vibes. Will definitely return!
H.
Nice coffee, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
T.
Outstanding coffee, breakfast and ambiance. Wood stove, coffee roaster, artwork, DJ, warm yet industrial space. One of the best cafes I’ve ever been to, including those throughout Europe and the Americas.
J.
Very good coffee - great Food plus service in a unique atmosphere.
b.
Nice cafe with a good selection of food. Staff were excellent
J.
Cool place and had a lovely fire and views of the harbour. Very nice french toast.
B.
Nice coffee good service
P.
Nice wee place, good drinks and great staff.
T.
Coffee Culture is one of my go to Cafes.
Customer service was just awesome however I wasn't happy with the food in this franchise.
G.
food fine but we found the music was far to loud needs to be alittle toned down.
F.
Great food coffee and service and atmosphere. Love that it's dog friendly as well. Highly recommend!
B.
Very good ciabatta rolls and coffee was better than I recall from previous visits.
V.
Delicious, quality ingredients but stingy portions - expensive poached eggs needed more toast to catch all the yolk, and coffee was disappointingly weak (so be sure to ask for an extra shot). Terrific view, great tunes and pleasant staff. Very much a locals' haunt. Not sure why the previous diner's plates were never cleared from our table.
L.
Great service, food and views. Would definitely recommend.
L.
Good place to sit outside and good food. Great coffee.
Z.
Always great coffee and great range of food and drinks. Friendly service. Amazing atmosphere with a stunning harbour view. Sometimes it seems you have no space where to sit, but there is always where to sit in the end.
B.
Yet another coffee culture outlet that I like to use now and then the usual polite and quick service that you would expect of CC. The coffee and food is ok - although if you could make sure that the butter for my scone is not deep frozen and spreadable would be a plus for me. Will be back again when in the area.
F.
Best coffee in Canterbury. By far. My go-to is a flat white made with ‘blend one’ beans.
They offer a good selection of both freshly prepared meals (until 2.30pm) and cabinet food - both of which are great.
The atmosphere is authentic and warm.
The staff keeps it real, which is something not everyone seems to appreciate.
LCC is as Lyttelton as it gets.
m.
Great quirky place to have coffee and some food. Loved the vibe and the chilled music. Will be back to try more things of the menu!
E.
Great little place with a really nice view, staff are lovely, breakfast and coffee was great.
t.
Friendly staff, nice coffee, Big cups. Nice food.
J.
I drank flat white coffee and my son hot chocolate.
E.
Coffee is tasty and cheap, music good, and ambience nice.
D.
Great place to have breakfast and overlook the harbour area.
The food was great, produce was fresh and the coffee was on point.
Staff were friendly
B.
This is a great place for coffee, it's always tasty and the service is friendly
Y.
I hadn't been to Lyttelton for many years and was delighted to find it still has that old world charm. I was taken with the community street piano especially with free entertainment provided by a seemingly accomplished pianist. I will be back as soon as I can.
L.
Great coffee, food and staff
M.
A pleasant cup of coffee good atmosphere and service.
R.
The best place in Lyttelton for a soup and a BLT. Nice continental atmosphere.
M.
Awesome service lovely coffee
Highly recommend
k.
Loved the coffee, food and atmosphere busy Saturday waited a bit but enjoyed just the wknd buzz, you doing awesome job
J.
Did a late lunch after walking over the bridle path from the gondola.
Kapow! What great coffee! Staff are all pierced and tattooed living works of art. They have a live DJ with loads of soul music spinning, I had a great huevos rancheros and a flat white. Smooth strong coffee and quick service even though the line up to the till was long at 1:30 PM.
G.
wasnt open on this day due public hoilday we were told its was a great place to eat and drink
A.
We love coming here. The coffee and food are great and the service is excellent.
G.
Amazeballs coffee, great music, good staff. A++
T.
All I can tell you, all you need to know, about a coffee shop is "Is the coffee good?" The answer is yes, the coffee Is good! The staff are great too. Very friendly.
N.
Currently rating this as the best coffee and cafe experience we have had since arriving in New Zealand. Well worth the short drive from Christchurch. Coffee delicious and vive incredible. It was a cold day and we were lucky to have got a table inside. Definitely worth many more visits!
l.
Nice coffee and views of the harbour service good
J.
Great coffee and a Very buzzy vibe
C.
Like most ChCh cafes, the standards are generally pretty high because of the amount of competition.
N.
Always quality coffee, food and friendly staff. Fantastic spot to look across the harbor while enjoying lunch. Also a great venue for gigs.
B.
Great sausage rolls, not heavy and no repeats later on. Coffee was spot on and great atmosphere.
A.
Best hot chocolate I've had in months, food was delicious. Great service and quick. Staff were lovely
H.
Beautiful harbour views, great food and excellent coffee.
Lovely no nonsense air of service, friendly staff and a great chef! My favourite part is that they don't serve "frilly" coffee! Overall a genuinely sweet experience.
Heads up, cash only premise.
T.
Best place to have coffee. Service and food is also outstanding. We never go anywhere else for coffee when we visit Lyttelton.
L.
Yummy food , great coffee and friendly service
A.
Well, as food it is just a Coffee Co. don't expect too much. Unlike other coffee Co. this place has an extremely nice vibe and a very nice view of the harbor from the terrace, where you can chill in a warm sunny day, drinking your beer. Recommend
P.
Lovely food and coffee. Great vibe town
M.
This coffee shop has become a Saturday morning ritual for me and my friends. They usually have a DJ playing some chill music which is a nice touch. Service is consistent. Might be hard to find a table at times!
R.
Good coffee with friendly service
A.
Great place for a coffee and snack, will be back
J.
Very helpful & friendly staff. Great coffee & food.
D.
French toast with caramelised banana, bacon, and maple syrup was fantastic and just what I hoped for. Coupled with a superb coffee. Set for the day
A.
A friendly atmosphere it is a small but intermittent place to enjoy a coffee with someone special. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Recommend you give it a try when you are in lyttleton.
O.
Great live music, beautiful porch view
G.
Always popular, great coffee, great place to be, real music, superb views, nicest people. Outdoor seating both out the front and the back
a.

A.

D.
Best food and coffee nice relaxing place great views nice people all here I have been going for years
G.
Fantastic venue and food. Looks like the kind of place I would love to make a day of it either by the fire in winter or on their balcony in summer.
p.
Wonderful coffee from the carrying artisans of LCC
E.
Very nice place (decorations , views, food) with the surprisingly unpleasant personnel. The food is great! But They serve the meal with the 15min difference for each person (there were 3 of us, so my friend finally had to cancel her order, there was no time to wait) and really unnecessary comment from the waitress that if you are eating inside you can not order coffee ‘to go’. I think it is me to decide how I want it (in the mug it gets cold faster), and if it is so important for them, it can be offered as a suggestion, not a must. Smile will be appreciated as well😉 I am talking about not just one person, everyone can have a bad day, all of them were quite rude... And again, food, views and decorations are great!
K.
Great food, awesome surroundings
L.
Awesome coffee and delicious muffins. We will be back. Great staff and service. Fun vibe.
P.
Really nice environment and great use of materials post earthquake. Don't do decaf unfortunately so had to suck it up and have fully leaded. Great coffee and views across the harbour. Nice original features throughout.
M.
great vibe, good coffee and cabinet food too.
K.
Very clean and great coffee and food - outside tables
C.
great location with friends. good coffee feeling
J.
Love the savouries this place makes, the coffee is really delicious and the whole bohemian chic theme is very cosy and inviting. Plenty of seating area and the harbour view is a plus. Truly a great place and somewhere if love to come too when I can~

Great food, superb coffe (roasted by themselves), nice and chilled atmosphere and friendly staff.
f.
Fairly good coffee ☕
C.
great food and drinks
H.
Was surprized with the shop. Good service.
T.
We went in late afternoon not long before closing. The floors had just been washed and the assistant was insistent that we take extra care. We had a good coffee and hot chocolate. The marshmallow was particularly nice. We tried the toasted walnut bread which was very tasty. We took home a cake each for supper. We were told that the shop had been very busy earlier on.
C.
Good place and good vibe.
R.
Wonderful coffee and a great food selection. Just be aware they don't take credit cards.
S.
You know. You know.
Y.
Great view of the port with retro atmosphere. Tasty home made style cakes. Only minor negatives. No decaf coffee for those that drink it. Had delicious green tea instead though. Don't accept cc. Looks like a great place for a drink. Service friendly and relatively efficient. Recommend.
A.
A quiet respite in noisy Lyttelton. Lovely friendly staff.
J.
Nice afternoon tea and friendly staff on Sunday afternoon
C.
Great ambience, the open layout and unobtrusive music selection make for a great place to chat and chill out. Even with only a few tables occupied it has a buzz to the place, which contributes to the warmth. Service was quick too. The default size coffee did feel a tad small compared to the majority of other cafés I've visited, but it was good coffee nonetheless. That would be my one complaint for the kind of place it is.
K.
A sweet vibe place with a cool eclectic charm, loved the music they were playing and the general feel of the place. Our meal was excellent and the coffee was great! Nice staff. We will return when we're down there next time. Thanks!
M.
Awesome atmosphere and lovely team serving. Not to be missed on every visit.
M.
Quirky, loud, funky, warm on a rainy day with lots of good food options
X.
The staff were a little rude, we came in for a coffee and we decided to check out another place to see if they had any carrot cake as CC did not and as we walked out the staff member rolled her eyes. Not a problem but it was rude. We did come back to have our coffee at CC.
L.
Cafe with a great ambience, excellent coffee, and teas, delicious food and wonderfull view of Lyttelton Harbour.
H.
Great food, superb coffe (roasted by themselves), nice and chilled atmosphere and friendly staff.
R.
Great coffee and amazing staff. A must visit coffee place in lyttelton
G.
Great food and coffee
R.
Great little cafe, great coffee and food. Indoor and outdoor street seating
S.
We enjoyed a really scrumptious breakfast here last weekend. I had a big breakfast, and the streaky bacon was perhaps the best I’ve ever eaten.
The service was first class, and the coffee was quite good.
The photo is of the view from the rear deck, overlooking Lyttleton Harbour. On a warmer day it would have been pleasant to watch the activity at the Harbour.
The only thing I didn’t like much was the decor. This is one haps a minor quibble, but it was in my personal opinion very dark, brooding, and inviting. The building itself was interesting, but I didn’t like the decorating. But nonetheless, five stars for great food, service and coffee.
I.
Great place to chill out food food or coffee. Second time I've been here and I'll be back again. Lots of nooks to sit in, for a group or on your own. On a hot day enjoy the back deck with a beautiful outlook towards the harbour. Cool high ceiling and a good music. A tip- if you change seating areas tell them; we got a short remark last time when we moved.
L.
I enjoyed the food and ambiance of the cafe. You can eat at table's on the footpath , inside or out on the balcony overlooking Lyttelton Wharf. There is no red meat on the menu, which is not a bad thing. Food is well presented and not over spiced or sauced. I had a gorgeous tomatoe and lentil soup. My husband had a freshly made chicken and mushroom pie. I highly recommend this Cafe.
J.
Amazing food and great coffee! Get in early if you don't want to wait in line. Lovely atmosphere. I think they need to work on the table numbers though. A few times we got asked if X was ours but it was another tables.
A.
Nice to get back to visit for a lovely latte. Welcoming, friendly staff made this anxious time nice and relaxing. Thank you.
J.
Beautiful decor, exceptional service and lovely food and drinks. The best.
P.
Good food and coffee. Friendly staff.

R.
Wonderful coffee and a great food selection. Just be aware they don't take credit cards.
R.

E.
Great staff, great food, great coffee, great atmosphere
C.
Fantastic coffee and service.
R.
Nice place to sit and have a coffee and cake with a friend or two.
T.
Best coffee and views of Lyttelton Port off the back deck
A.
Some of the best coffee in the region and a rebuilt (post earthquake) location that should be the envy of cafes and restaurants around the world. Have yet to dive into the menu to any great depth but the food I've had is always fresh and generous and the staff (whilst occasionally having a slightly "too cool for school" attitude) are on the ball and know their craft well.
The coffee is a darker roast than some may enjoy but if you like a smoky flat white or a complex but deep long black then flee the coffee culture on the other side of the street and come meet some caffeinated beverages that will give you a pep in your step.
M.
Super friendly staff, nice location, good coffee, good mood music, loved the place!
c.
Really good coffee and very well priced, good atmosphere inside the shop, loved the old rustic style of the interior. Not very clean in some places but certainly not a cause for concern. Staff were friendly.
J.
Great spot. Friendly service. Tidy cafe. Slow on the drinks.
T.
Great coffee, friendly staff and awesome toys to keep the wee ones entertained.
W.
Good food, good coffee, plenty of room even at lunch time
V.
Delicious, quality ingredients but stingy portions - expensive poached eggs needed more toast to catch all the yolk, and coffee was disappointingly weak (so be sure to ask for an extra shot). Terrific view, great tunes and pleasant staff. …
K.
The food was great with some decent variety. great vibe. It was busy and easy to see why. Easy to recommend.
J.
A quaint little place with friendly staff and peaceful soundings with a view of diamond harbour across the harbour. Public holidays can be extremely busy. Be prepared to wait and pay 15% extra on those days unless you have a coffee card, and you still get 20% discount.
Suggest to display a wait sign if wait is over 15 minutes so that the staff don't have to keep saying, "just to let you know there will be a 25 minute wait"
Suitable for children and disabled.
J.
Nice afternoon tea and friendly staff on Sunday afternoon
P.
Really nice environment and great use of materials post earthquake. Don't do decaf unfortunately so had to suck it up and have fully leaded. Great coffee and views across the harbour. Nice original features throughout.
S.
Really loved the coffee.
Cabinet food available.
Loved the Lemon and berries cake
J.
Very hip place...love the views out the back...great service ...coffee...and food
H.
Beautiful harbour views, great food and excellent coffee.
Lovely no nonsense air of service, friendly staff and a great chef! My favourite part is that they don't serve "frilly" coffee! Overall a genuinely sweet …
H.
Just fantastic - an old fashioned Restaurant
D.
Great Keto frid available
D.
Good coffee. Busy place. 10-15 wait for coffee
M.
Nice place to enjoy the fine beverages. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
H.
Good coffee and food. Staff friendly. However, I would not recommend going there if you have babies and want a relaxing and quiet space to kick back in peace. The music was way too loud and repetitive. Constant doof, doof, doof , drum and base, it was so annoying and just not appropriate. The baby next to me with its mum was screaming, surprised the loud music didn't damage the babies eardrums. It was like being in a night club, if your into that go, but otherwise avoid it if you want peace or have a conversation.
P.
Fantastic cafe, fantastic service
A.
Didn't stay long but it's Coffee Culture. Great food, coffee and friendly staff 😊
T.
Best coffee in Christchurch area. Really worths stopping here for a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake.
W.
Great venue and location. Coffee was really good as was the carrot cake. A funky place with DJ playing good music in the background. Lots of people there enjoying the food and drink, and great service.
J.
Love any Coffee Culture but this day we were wet and kind of in a hurry and the staff were very quick to serve us
M.
Nice view, nice coffee
A.
Come here every Monday to work. Great place
J.
Excellent coffee and lunch to be honest! BBQ Chicken and Bacon sandwich was super tasty.
Had a 15% surcharge on public holidays - however meal was still great value.
C.
I visited christchurch for one day and this cafe was one of the highlights. Great food and customer service.
S.
Coffee and food great lovely location
S.
Great coffee friendly staff. No long waits
L.
Very nice Mocktails and service thank you
O.
As a batista myself on holiday its alright. Asked for a flat white but got a capa instead. The 2nd flatwhite they made was an actual one so its probably a pure mistake initially. They use the Rancilio(good brand) coffee machine which gives nice strong steam so its not always easy steaming milk with the right amount of microfoam. They also use the electronic grinders which will always be very consistent with the coffee grinds which is always a PLUS. In the end coffee still tastes good and the staff are friendly as well and they gave me a ❤ on a busy day.
A.
Funky, cozy place with amazing coffee (they have some secret ingredient for sure! :)) The staff is cool, chilled and friendly. You always feel the artsy vibe of Lyttelton there! Love this place!
B.
Had a great coffee along with some great food while watching the world go by. Everything was wonderful.
S.
Lovely deck out the back overlooking the harbor. Great coffee and food.

C.
Outstanging coffee shop very clean good food and service
P.
A very pleasant place to have great coffee and observe the passing shoppers.
T.
This place has a cosy rustic ambience and it's clear that it is a local watering hole. The coffee is exquisite and they even do their own blends. We had a wonderful time and the tiramisu we had with our brewskis was bliss. My one peeve would be that the cabinet food and the menu when it came to savoury items was pretty unexceptional and lacking a bit of wow. I'm sure the menu could be built upon to offer a bit more diversity whether it be nachos, wedges, fish n chips, frigates, omelette, lasagnas or something a bit more substantial. We also each bought a savoury muffin which was as dry as a John Clark joke. Surely some coriander, cheese, bacon or relish could be added in future to moisten and accentuate the bland doughy flavour. The counter staff and wait staff were all very hospitable and courteous. The views were worth the coffee fee alone
T.
We went in late afternoon not long before closing. The floors had just been washed and the assistant was insistent that we take extra care. We had a good coffee and hot chocolate. The marshmallow was particularly nice. We tried the toasted …
C.
Very nice great cabinet food coffee
I.
Good coffee but no one should ever get rid of the coffee espresso slice. Its just not cool
P.
Probably the best on that side of the tunnel, in such an industrial town. Very authentic place yet with a hipster look and graphical paintings around. Food was very good and coffee too.
T.
It was a warm welcoming environment with a great option of healthy and sweet treats, organic green smoothie a must recommend. Sat outside with a large group of us on a beautiful day looking at the harbour.
G.
Really liked the sitting and coffee ☕
P.
Very nice food. Good service, great staff.
W.
Good coffee and lovely omelette
F.
Very 'hipster' and pretty tryhard although this isn't a bad thing. There was a DJ when we went which was pretty cool. Awesome food, some of the best coffee I've had in NZ.
R.
One of the best coffees I had in NZL so far. Also nice toasts etc. Not to pricey. Nice ambiente. Overall 5Stars.
D.
If you'd like to go to a place where you don't have staff smile then this is the place for you. Ordering our food was depressing the guy threw the drinks on the table I had the French toast which was quite good the wife had scrambled eggs on toast and didn't enjoy it too much. They may have been too busy I don't know but I might give it a chance again just to see if it was, but I can never trust a place that doesn't have marshmallows in a hot chocolate isn't that the reason why you have hot chocolates or is it just me. And also letting dogs in the restaurant I don't know if it's a great look.
P.
Coffee Ok. Service slow. Maybe the staff were learning.
D.
Great fit out and atmosphere. Friendly staff, good coffee and tasty food. Some good views too. *Updated* some comically rude service (most are nice) but coffee is still good.
R.
Cosy vibe with good tunes. Always busy but lots of seats inside and out. Sometimes a wait for food from the kitchen but there's tasty cabinet good and the coffee is served quickly.
c.
Very cool old building with a relaxed feel. Very nice coffee with a friendly staff. Was a good spot for a morning coffee to chill for a while, take in the surroundings and enjoy the music
h.
Amazing food, amazing service, very friendly staff
D.
Yummmy place and happy staff to make you welcome
M.
Awesome staff, brunch, coffee and cakes! The DJ was playing classic retro tunes on the Technics SL1210 MKII's. Oh and finally, the views of the harbour out the back were pretty cool too..

J.
A return visit having been there on our last trip. Great coffee and savoury options for lunch. Bit 'mean' on the portion of the ginger slice! Nice ambience.
B.
Great coffee and cakes. Friendly staff. Love the fit out and atmosphere. Very busy at most times. Understand the intent in not having wifi but that is the only reason I haven't given 5 stars.
B.
Coffee is weaker than I would like but the atmosphere is great if you're working or need a place for a quiet chat. Friendly service.
Y.

The coffee is so good the staff don't need to be responsive to needy customers. 😘
B.
Excellent coffee, food, service and atmosphere. Love it.
C.
Great coffee, good food, busy vibe (so be prepared for noise!). Be warned - no trim milk. Decor is junkyard / end-of-life furniture. I like it.
R.
A little pricey but very good coffee and some amazing eats on offer. Inside and outside seating.
S.
Great place to grab a coffee. Manages to maintain that Lyttleton vibe despite being part of a chain, with consistently good coffee and a friendly team who clearly get on so it's a fun and positive place to hang out. Gets extremely busy sometimes, expect a little wait. Great selection of treats in the cabinet too.
j.
Great coffee and muffin.
S.
Amazing coffee great music. One of the best views in town and great outdoors area.. staff are very friendly... Very cosy atmosphere .. be mindful they don't accept credit cards but normal EFTPOS transactions are acceptable .. wish they would open at night ..
W.
Quite limited lunch selection but great coffee as usual.
S.
Great coffee and awesome big breakfast. Usually busy and interesting to hang out and people watch. Can get noisy. Try the outside deck in summer for harbour views.

The best coffee I have found in NZ since returning from living in Brisbane bar none.
J.
Very hip place...love the views out the back...great service ...coffee...and food
T.
Great coffee. Brilliant decor. Staff need to realize they are working in a service industry and are not there to be cool and aloof.
N.
Coffee was nice but cups not big enough raspberry cake was very tasty.
D.
Great place to stop for a coffee.
A.
Great place to come for lunch, they have a fantastic selection of food and drink, including pastries, bagels and sandwiches.
I went for a cream cheese, ham and chicken bagel which was absolutely gorgeous.
I also went for a chocolate Frappe which was pretty damn good as well.
Prices are much more reasonable than places around the area and overall it is way less busy, which is always a plus.
R.
This is a great place for awesome coffee and a good conversation with like minded people. I love the aesthetic of the place and the vibe is always chill and homely
S.
Nice atmosphere and normal coffee you expect from them.

Music way to loud and the barman was very reluctant to turn it down - there was 4 of us and we could barely hear each other

Coffee Culture Lyttelton, 18 London Street, Lyttelton 8082. A very busy café, especially at the weekends. Great coffee and really nice food, wonderful service.

Best coffee in Canturbury

Fantastic staff. Brilliant range of gluten free food that tastes amazing. Well worth the drive. Hot chocolate and range of read are worth drinking as well.
P.
Only marked down a star, cos they forgot to make my coffee - upon enquiring as to how much longer, I was offered a profuse apology, followed up with the ordered coffee, and a complimentary small slice. Will update the experience, should I be in the vicinity, another time.

Typical café franchise business, standard external and internal decorations. Ordered a spice chai frappe but tasted more like a milk shake. 😛 Good atmosphere tho 👍...
