Always enjoyable - glad we booked ahead! We visited for brunch during the Christmas / New Year holiday period. Glad that we booked ahead for the 4 of us….we got the last table. The place was buzzing with families. The service was good. The best dish in the 3 we ordered was waffles- big and colourful. The hot chocolate and mocha were excellent too - with real chocolate as always. This place is always enjoyable, and this time was no different.

Excellent coffee - probably some of the best I’ve had in Christchurch, with amazing food to go with. They also played Sisqo - Thong Song, while I ate - and that made it a really good start to the day.

Had lunch here the other day and we loved everything about this place! The semi-opened kitchen lets you in on the hustle and bustle that's going on in the kitchen, the waitresses are all friendly and helpful; They also took care of every corner of the place, you can find little surprises here and there such as plants and books, just sitting in there is a pure enjoyment! Food are well-presented, the bread is fresh and the salmon is seasoned beautifully, all ingredients are treated well and cooked to just right! And the coffee? It needs no endorsement, no doubt one of the best in CHC! The only downside about this place is the carpark, you will need a little luck to get a park.

A hidden jewel in the suburban Christchurch area every part of this cafe is great, the options, food, decor and they even have a book exchange but the staff and service is exceptional. Everyone I have met there has been very welcoming and friendly, it is pretty busy sometimes so you may need to book ahead, but it is worth it.

I ordered the “eggs your way” with a side of avo and pesto and I was happy with the generous portion of the spreads (I usually feel I don’t get enough sauce/spread). My friends ordered the Bruschetta with salmon and it also looked worth the price. Very friendly service as well.

My favourite cafe in Christchurch! Great food, great coffee and fantastic service. You're made to feel welcome as soon as you step through the door. I always recommend this place to friends visiting the city. It's a little out of the centre but worth the drive!

5 stars isn't enough. This is by far the best cafe in Christchurch the best coffee, the best food, the best atmosphere. The closest thing to a problem is that its kind of out in middle of know where. But it could be on a desert island that you have to swim to, it would still be worth it. The vegetarian menu is great, the sweets is great, the savories are great. Everything is great.

Great cafe set in the northern suburbs of Christchurch. Great food selection both off the menu and available from the cabinet. The cafe is nicely fitted out in a modern styling. There were plenty of staff available to take care of our needs and they were all very attentive and knowledgeable. The coffee was very good and so good it made me have a second one. Parking in plentiful and the cafe is easy to find. I would recommend and will definitely go again.

Very small amount of hollandaise sauce on the bene also lacked seasoning throughout. But ingredients are fresh and prepared well with good portions. Would recommend trying this one out if you're in the area.

Busy fairly decent sized cafe with lots of choice. The menu is sufficient and has well thought choices. The staff are efficient and knowledgeable. Service was unfortunately a little slow but possibility because of the amount of patrons while I was there. The food was delicious and well plated but not sure what happened to the spinach on my big breakfast as it wasn't included in the plating.Coffee was a little on the cool side and not the best however. Well worth the visit though.

Great place, the only cool place in this area, awesome coffee!! great working WiFi, free sparking water, parkings can be a bit tight at lunch hours. You can actually call to reserve a table or walk in to sit at any available table and leave before the reserved time. Really easy going and great vibe, staff are attentive with quick table service.

Came here for a brunch and went for Fried chicken and waffles and all I can say is ‘wow!’. They were so tasty and perfect combo of sweet and salty. The flat white I had was great too and would highly recommend visiting this great little hidden gem.

5 stars for food. Was really good and great coffee. 1 star for the rude manager, she took a staff member outside (as I’ve circled in the photo below) she yelled so all the patrons could here, she was pointing as well. You could see her from out seats and hear her. It was very unprofessional. After her aggressive yelling she stormed back into the cafe yelling at him. Such a shame to have someone working at this place, she ruined our breakfast.

Love this place. Friendly staff who were very obliging. My Mum 's coffee was too strong for her ; we probably should have ordered a single shot,, but they immediately replaced it no problem. Great service and so nice to go somewhere that has real muffins . Perfect!

Sorry but idk why would you say the best coffee and the best food. The coffee was just average in terms of the taste. Maybe done by the super barista but if the beans don't taste great what can you do. We ordered the mystery burger and it wasn't of great quality. Frozen orange uniform sized onion rings. The bun was basic. Fries were good tho. Wouldn't go back. Just a bit strange :)

Have been wanting to visit for ages. Was not disappointed! Great decor I lived the bronze wall with mint green dripping paint! Coffee was top notch and the eggs benny was delicious! Seating not too crowded great atmosphere. I'll be back soon!

Had lunch here with my sister and mother. The food and drinks were good. Some of the orders came out slower than expected and one of the drinks was slightly wrong. However the waitress offered another free of charge, without hesitation which more than made up for it.

Went there with the family and there was something for everyone. It was 10am on a Sunday and was reasonably busy. However plenty of tables and the service was fast. I had the eggs Benedict which had so much flavor and the bacon was cooked to perfection. My son had the waffles which were thick and fluffy and my daughter had the loaded wedges. The staff were super friendly. I followed it up with a coffee which was amazing. I would certainly go again, plenty of parking and fantastic service.

If you are going to or coming from the airport this is the place for a coffee an snack. A lovely upbeat place with arguably the best coffee around. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Incredible breakfast and coffee. We had poached eggs, mushrooms, spinach and avo with an iced coffee. One of the best breakfasts we have ever had!! Every bit of the meal was cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and the meals came out pretty quick considering it was moderately busy. Only thing we would suggest to change would be to swap the plastic black straws with stainless steel reusable straws as the plastic ones are really bad for the marine environment. As well as swapping the individually plastic wrapped butter with just a small scoop of butter on the plate. Otherwise love what you are doing here! Thank you

The staff are wonderful. They are SO busy but always treat you like a person AND they learn your name. The conversation between the staff behind the counter speaks volumes, they don't say "This coffee is for table 8" they say "This is Phil's coffee." The coffee is always wonderful, the food is something special, and changes daily. They have a range of specials and each meal is worth every cent. Two tips - 1) always book ahead if you want to eat in. Even though they are busy they are still very quick - but tables become a premium at lunch time. 2) They are open later on Thursday and Friday nights because they have on-tap beer and cider.

Certainly quite popular judging by the influx of nearby workers, and a mix of other demographic groups from parents with young children to retired couples that came here during the peak hours around midday. So factor in the parking as it may be an issue. The staff are - friendly, helpful and attentive. The place is comfortable, warm and welcoming. The food? Can't comment much but they have a extensive range of cabinet food and also a lunch menu to choose from. Went with wedges served with sour cream and Thai chilli sauce and was happy with the quality. Friends went with vegetarian foods chosen from the cabinet that looked rather interesting. This is a nice place that I would be happy to return to.

18th June 2019 - This is a café that is located near the Wairakei Road. It is quite visible from Roydvale Avenue. This business has been operating for some time and it services the local businesses. Anyway, the interior layout is well set up with multiple standard dining tables and chairs. It is also well lit and it feels very cosy. The menu is very straightforward and is not overwhelming (which is a good thing) with choices but rather nicely balanced. They also sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks🍷🍺🍹🥃🥛 such as coffee and tea ☕🍵. I’ve ordered a latte in a glass, and Eggs Your Way; consists four pieces of triangle-shaped bread, two free range eggs and I was given a butter spread. You are given the option to choose what bread you like to eat and how your eggs are cooked. I like sunnyside up 🍳🍞🥚😋. The eggs were cooked to perfection (yummy) and the bread was nicely toasted (i.e. No burnt marks). I only wish the eggs were bigger as to satisfy my hunger. Overall, it was a good experience and recommend to try their food. 👍👍☺️😊 Good portion sizes. This is a child-friendly restaurant. This is a licensed (🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺) Café. There is a small outdoor area. There is onsite parking 🅿 but need to make sure to park in the right spot. Otherwise, your car will be tow away 😅. Q - the barista has won many awards for his coffee and you can definitely tell why! Always a great cup and they have lots of alternative milk options. Good range of cabinet food. Coffee was really nice, smooth and not too strong, as you can tell it's made from one of the best barista, but food needs to improve ~ Bandit Breaky wasn‘t as impressive as we expected, more like airplane food with no love~ My roast vege with green tea noodle salad was very nice though. Hope they can improve the hot food and sure we will be back some other time.

This was a last minute decision found on Instagram because the last two places we went too were full. Strange Bandit was well worth the drive as the food was really awesome and the place and staff had a really good vibe about them compared to other places at mid day on a Saturday. Might be the best coffee is Christchurch. The barista Q is world renowed and makes a coffee that's fit for Kings. Food is ok and they are open for lunch and drinks later. Love the vibe and on the way to the airport makes it super convenient. Highly recommend tonany true coffee lovers.
