I love this hidden gem in the burbs, its still going strong and has never let me down wotg their delicious food. I love coming here. Last ordered the fish of the day and my man got bacon and eggs. Was next level amazing

We were given "The booth" in the back house, this was a lovely wee space and even though there was a large booking in the adjacent main room it was private enough to have own conversation without being disturbed. The coffee was excellent and my gluten free brunch scramble was lovely and tasty..... This was all brought together by a lovely attentive staff. Excellent place - recommend!!!

The food was nice. I had the mushrooms. There was a chunk of mushroom compost in the meal. Only discovered it at the end. Coffee was great. Service was slow and I didn't think they were too busy. I know they do tasty food and I like the place so I'll go back.

Have been to this wonderful cafe 3 times. Such delicious breakfast choices I love the vege big breakfast and the eggs Benedict also the seafood chowder was super tasty and the staff are lovely and friendly. A very comfortable good environment. Highly recommend a visit while in Christchurch. A+++ service.

Such a gem of a Cafe! Stunning vibe, such kind and lovely staff and an incredible menu. I had the oaty pancakes with grilled banana, and shared a side of crispy potatoes. 0 regrets. Pure luxury. 🥞🥔 If you haven't been before I strongly urge you to give UTRV a visit! Just make sure you book ahead!!

Nestled in the heart of Linwood, Under the Red Verandah is a delightfully vibrant and welcoming cafe and restaurant. The artwork on the walls is almost as impressive as the carefully curated, locally sourced, mostly organic dishes which are seriously delicious! The staff are fantastic and attentive despite the restaurant being nearly full just 15 minutes after opening. If you’re looking for a weekend meal in Christchurch, you absolutely must try UTRV but bookings are essential!

My favorite east christchurch cafe. A suburban gem. Great coffee, great food, good seating and the staff are the best. It is a busy place so it is wise to book ahead if you are coming for weekend brunch or lunch. And make sure you try the red pepper sauce if you have something to eat.

Amazing experience in this place. Book in advance because it gets busy real quick! Beautiful place, went for brunch with a friend. Staff were very friendly. Got a mocha, a big breakfast and we split a slice of cake. Mocha was good. Big breakfast was amazing, unfortunately was so excited I for to take a picture, but it was very filling. Everything cooked to perfection. And the cake, so damn good. Will definitely be returning, I highly recommend it.

Was in search of a winter warmer seafood chowder today and just found this wee place by chance. I’m so glad I did! The service was friendly, food came out quick, the place was a wee vibe, and that chowder was quite possibly one of the best I’ve ever had! Well I did it again.... one look at my meal and I can't wait to get amongst it and forgot to take photos to prove just how fantastic our meals WERE!! So now I will just have to explain it with my prose only. My wife had fish of the day, pan fried fish, red cabbage and potato mash. You would have see it to believe it it was sooo good. I had eggs benedict on toast with crispy bacon...lots of it tooo! The bacon was as I said real crispy but not so you couldn't crunch it up easily enjoying every bite. The eggs were perfect complimented by the hollandaise sauce. Both plates were of generous portions making them a meal not a lunch snack. We polished these off with pleasure not requiring anything else although the cabinet food looked so tempting. The serving staff were all so friendly to all patrons and to each other, a sure sign "Under The Red Verandah" is a place you MUST NOT MISS. I consider the menu is extensive as lunch selection is added to by the breakfast menu and can be ordered from till 3pm. Two meals and a drink each was around $50. Worth it too. I challenge you to dine here and NOT be well satisfied and complete. Go on...try it for yourself

Nice cafe, great outdoor seat suitable for families and friends. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood of Linwood. Limited parking is provided. Served some wine and alcohol. Friendly table service. Great food and good barista skills. I've got a rosetta pattern in my flat white. However, it may be busy during lunch time in a sunny weekend. So booking is needed if you have a group of guests coming. Recommended avoiding these hours to enjoy a quieter experience.

It was pan seared to perfection with crispy skin, so full of flavour and just incredible every mouthful! My girlfriend said I had a two swear word review for this place. She was "g*****n right." Mostly it's that you can tell that someone gives a s**t about the food. It was delicious and actually tells you it was made with love. No foolin'. The staff were lovely and all the food was made with care and was beautiful. The outdoor seating was so nice during a beautiful sunny day, but they had wind and rain protected areas as well. Some sunblock was available in addition to the shade areas, trees, and umbrellas outside. Toys for impatient kids as well. Would absolutely hit this place up again.

I had a wonderful and delicious house smoked salmon benedict - the best homemade bread and perfect poached eggs. My dining companions loved their gratin and streaky bacon. A really cozy and beautiful outdoor garden setting too. The staff and chefs obviously really care about you and enjoy what they do.

Went for brunch and was really impressed! Had a nice table in their outdoor seating area, and the staff we had interaction with were really friendly. Like it that they give you chilled bottle of water and glasses for the table too. The brunch menu is stacked.. it was hard to decide what to order. The portions are gigantic! I had the eggs bene with spinach and mushrooms and it was really tasty but I couldn’t finish it all. Next time I’ll ask dining partner if they’ll share a dish with me and that way it’ll be more affordable too :) Many of the dishes are in the $19-23 range. I hope to go back again and try some other dishes on the menu!

Always a top place to take friends and relatives to. Quality food covering all food preferences, so I know all will be catered for. Visited today with relatives from Hamilton and as always the food was great and staff so friendly and helpful. They were impressed with the total set up and service. Today cuz and I visited here. Lovely old setting. Very busy but got a table inside. I had falafel stack which I really enjoyed, very tasty and cuz had a large slice of vegetarian pie.. Bit noisy inside until crowd thinned out but we could have gone outdoors as the weather was OK. Staff very friendly and helpful so all good. Enjoyed our time here and will be returning. Coffee OK not standout but this cafe still deserve the stars.

Great coffee, yummy food, friendly staff. Very squashy inside!!!! Took a while for our food to come!! (Although it was quite busy but I have been to another restaurants where they have been quick)! The water cups looked really stained and dirty. (Although one lady, she was a little tiny rude to me that our friends should of let them know that they were bringing a baby with a pram, as the pram couldn't fit through the door, had to open the two doors, got removed from another table, as I had no idea they were bringing a pram when I booked it, the two staff kind of made a big deal between them, a little bit silly). It was all good in the end. I might come back here again.

Cool casual brunch in a popular spot eating in or outdoors, this place is perfect to catch up with friends where you can eat healthy or decadent. It can get busy so best to get in earlier on a Saturday especially if it's going to be a sunny day with its large outdoor area. Heated indoors means you can also relax year round. All this and more make it a great spot but for me it's the staff making it one of the cities best coffee places.

WOW! What an "Absolutely" great Cafe. Staff are friendly, the cabinet food is just delicious, yummy! Yum! Yum. We took my daughter for a Coffee and Cake for her birthday. You need look no further as this place has got "it nailed" .....!! We also bought the Duck Liver Pate, which was the best Pate I've ever had. This was our second time in the same month here. Both times the place was very busy and we had long wait times for food and drinks. Can only but be happy with this place which would be hard to fault aside from the occasional long wait time due to popularity. The food, service, and setting are all awesome. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor area and water bowls are provided. As are high chairs and toys.
