Great location, beautiful deck and gardens. The interior exudes Kiwi rural charm. The food was excellent, the soup of the day, pumpkin, had a great savoury flavour in contrast to the many sweet offerings available elsewhere. The roast meat on flat bread and smashed avo on rye bread were generous portions, delicious too! We indulged ourselves with the banana cake with salted caramel to finish. One portion between two was more than enough 😀.This brunch feast kept us going until dinner. Service was a bit slow and we were definitely deliberately ignored at times. Overall a very good experience, will visit again.

We heard through the local grapevine that the Glenorchy Cafe had recently reopened (though we had never been there prior) and had been in operation for about 3 days. Tourism is currently battling tough times globally, so we wanted to support local. Stopped in at the Glenorchy Café (otherwise known as the GYC) and loved the atmosphere - locals getting together enjoying well made coffee with tasty bread rolls, bakery items and other things. Talking with the man at the counter I learnt it is a local family owned and family operated business, it felt good knowing we were supporting the local community. If it is a sunny day, please use the tables at the back of the café, especially during winter - the views are something I have not seen anywhere else in NZ. The pictures in this review should help you decide if stopping by is worth it - it was for us.

Exceptional food! Great service and location with plenty of tables outside in the sunshine. Would rate this as one of the top cafes in the Queenstown area. We hope you are open again soon!

Stopped into this incredibly cute and cosy cafe for takeaway. We ordered 2 freshly made sandwiches, one ham and one grilled vegetable. Both were extremely tasty, delicious and came out quickly. Coffee and cakes on display were also fantastic. Service was great, attentive and friendly! What a fabulous little cafe this is! Would highly recommend to anyone driving through the cute town of Glenorchy.

Amazing local craft beer, a fun little bar garden in the back, a tasty sandwich and great service. This place is the best Glenorchy (or Queenstown for that matter) has to offer for a café.

Quirky beautiful cafe, seems small from the outside but spacious inside. They have outside seat too at the back of the cafe, would be nice on a nicer day. We went on the cold windy day , and they have fire place lit up . Cozy. Food is beautiful and reasonably price. I had soup of the day Pea n ham come with home made rye bread👍 . Child friendly place.

My son and I stopped in here briefly, and although I only need my cappuccino fix, I take a good look around at the food on offer and the menu. We met a couple on our way from the jetty, and upon questioning where they purchased their coffee, they immediately spoke well of the GYC. The menu offerings look very tasty, and I think very well priced - especially after paying Queenstown prices for the past few days! It’s a cosy place, with plenty of sheltered areas outside, plus a reasonable space indoors too. The young man on the till serving today was particularly friendly and pleasant, and quickly offered me advice on how to reach the Routeburn Track from the cafe. Would love to return to enjoy more of their hospitality and food.

Great view from terrace and very tasty food. 5 star pumpkin soup with indian touch and incredible sandwiches which are pretty much main-sized. Absolutely good value for money.

A warm and cosy place to stop by for a cuppa when visiting Glenorchy. Upon arrival at Glenorchy after a somewhat long scenic drive, we stopped by this cafe to have coffee before going walkabout. The cafe had a variety of sweets on display. Loved the fireplace with a fan on top that kept the place nice and warm. The outdoor sitting area was just beautiful had a stunning backdrop of lake Wakatipu - shame it was too cold to sit out side.

One of the best mushroom melts I’ve ever had! Nice staff and a comfortable environment.

Great coffee and food. The grilled halloumi with mushrooms on toast and the berries crumble were delicious! Their sandwiches were huge, can be shared among 2 adults.

Nice and cozy cafe in Glenorchy. Our group went here for a few hot drinks on a cold winter day and the cafe was nicely heated up by a little chimney and and drinks were delicious. Definitely recommendable for anyone going through Glenorchy and looking for a little comfortable rest.

Great little cafe in the middle of Glenorchy. Wandered in on a rainy day and the food was just great. The soup (cauliflower and fennel) was really good and in generous portions. But the open steak was the highlight to me. Good steak served with plenty of veggies (and not really that pricey for $20).

For delicious sandwiches the size of your head! There's not much in Glenorchy in terms of shops or food but this place certainly does the town proud!

You can have lunch outdoor with good view of mountains. The portion is huge and tasteful. Very recommend when you have activity here.

I love this place. I’ve been going there on every visit to the South Island since 2006. The ham off the bone sandwich is amazing. Can’t wait to get back there many times once the borders reopen.

This place was excellent.Very good food and truly generous portions. Top that all off with being very reasonably priced with friendly staff too and it has to be a winner. Did I mention that the views were incredible too?

This café has tables and chairs outside with lovely views of the mountains. The food and coffee we ordered were note-perfect and delicious, and we didn't have to wait too long. Downsides were no wifi for customers and the staff seemed very timid. We noticed there was a label stuck to the till, aimed at the staff, that said "Don't forget to smile!" Oh dear. That's some overbearing management culture.

Great little place just up from the Lake in Glenorchy. Had breakfast here, was great. Wood heater is a nice touch. Beware, the serving sizes are HUGE! I got the big breakfast and it came with 3 eggs - not sure if that was an accident or not😂😂 pancake stack was also huge. Definitely not stingy.... a bit less on the plate and it would still be great and great value. 👍👍

We thought the food was absolutely delicious! It was all incredibly fresh and flavorful. What could be better than soaking up some sun while gazing on a stunning backdrop of mountains and sky while you sip on a delicious drink and eat scrumptious food!? This place is truly a gem!!!

Had lunch there today with my family. Great coffee, great food. The stuff they serve is on the healthy side which we like. We have eaten there in 2015 as well and the experience had been equally positive. This is a great place. Taking in your food outside looking into the mountains is a bonus. Highly recommended!

The potato chips here are really delicious, and the salmon is also very good.

Visited the cafe after a weekend at Paradise and was very much looking forward to it after hearing great things from our friends. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite up to the rave reviews. It was a busy wee place and the seating area outside was nice. Our food was quite slow to come out as was the coffee, I could see the staff were trying hard. My poached eggs along with everyone else that ordered them were hard, which i always find quite disappointing.

We had a hot chocolate, very nice and a mango smoothie. I didn't like it as it was quite milky rather than fruity and I thought it tasted a bit off but my husband drank it so maybe that was personal taste. The range of cakes looked fantastic and there we lots of tables outside. I would go back. One other thing was that I didn't see anything labeled as gluten free on this visit.

Unexpectedly delicious! I had an amazing potato and rosemary quiche which was so chocked full of potato, and served with some amazing cumin spiced yogurt, and a sweet tomato relish. My partner had a smoked chicken sandwich the size of my head, which included brie, and various coleslaw salad bits. Both were demolished without a trace! I don't drink coffee but my partner sure seemed to enjoy his 😊 This spot is nestled in a breathtakingly gorgeous location. We were lucky enough to enjoy the surrounds of snow capped mountains and cherry blossom trees. A very cheerful place to grab a bite

Dropped in for lunch. The open steak sandwhich is to die for!!! Absolutely delicious and really flavourful. Highly recommended! Dropped in for the open steak again and was told it would be 2 mins. So I tried the bacon banana pancakes with maple. It came out super fast and really flavourful. Made it on time for my bus back to QT. Great work!

The food here is absolutely gorgeous, we had the salmon bruchetta. The salmon was super tasty but the garlic bread was to die for, the combination was beautiful. I wish I could try everything on the menu. The only down side was although the coffee looked nice, it wasn't too my taste buds, and couldn't drink it.

Once again.. a friendly staff, amazing coffee, tasty food.. we really enjoyed our stop.

Flavoursome meals, quality ingredients used, but a tad overpriced for the portions given. $16.5 for a mini stack of pancakes with fried bananas and bacon rashers and mascarpone, it's a bittersweet review. Excellent coffee though!! Keep up the good work everyone 👍👍👍

Lovely people - even today with a power outage they went above & beyond. Great coffee and they are open more than some of the other food/coffee places in Glenorchy. Good food and atmosphere. We visit each time we come to Queenstown. Good on you guys & girls!

Incredible food! We had the halloumi breakfast and veggie sandwich which were some of the best meals we have eaten in New Zealand! Great cafe, definitely recommend.

Great little eating place/meeting place - has it all, cafe, restaurant, bar and outdoor eating. Stopped for a light brunch and sat in the sun and enjoyed my coffee and bacon + egg pie while my wife enjoyed her coffee and wild mushrooms on toast.

Decent place for lunch doing hot and cold food, beer and wine. Order at the counter and they bring you the food. Rustic interior, terrace and lovely grassy area out the back - although watch out for the seagulls!

Gr8 service. Separated vege dishes frm non vege dishes extremely neatly when we requested them. Everybody died and went to heaven ( food heaven) after having the carrot cake and berry crumble. All rated it 100/100. It was THAT BLOODY AWESOME!!!! The steak sandwich was awesome. Too bad that the vegetarians couldn't taste it!!!! Worth the money!!!! Good job guys!!!

Cute cafe. We ordered some sandwiches here for a fishing trip, and they were delicious. They also make a yummy cup of coffee. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable.

Nice and calm cafe :) The carrot cake is absolutely amazing 😉 There are so many small statues:) They use the small statues instead of the number plate 👏 Nice :) You should go and check the cafe!

Enjoyed lunch there which was great, using fresh ingredients and perfectly executed. Friendly staff. Really loved the wines that they had, enough to go and seek them out later.

For a little restaurant at what feels like the edge of nowhere, the food was amazing! There restaurant had little atmosphere, but if you sit outside the mountain scenery more than makes up for it.

One of the best meals I have had in a cafe. Huge proportions and great quality. The coffee was served a little hot if I was being picky. A great spot, will be returning.

Finally, a great cup of coffee. Having been spoilt by all the kiwi's in London improving the coffee scene, we've been really disappointed by the standard of coffee in Queenstown. Not here though, a decent cup of coffee and nice selection of cakes etc... too. Well worth the drive from Queenstown.

We visited this restaurant while roadtripping in NZ. We arrived in Queenstown and drive to Glenorchy to relax and found this gem. The place is cozy and the food is oh so delicious. Oh and the cat company was the cherry on top. Definitely a must and we'll be back.

I think this is the only cafe in the area, but the food is amazing and price is reasonable. It was winter when we visit there so Will be nice if they can add or rearrange the indoor sitting area.

Stopped for a coffee in this busy cafe. Coffee was nice and customer service was excellent. As the power was off they kept the cafe open by using a generator.

Surprisingly large portion of soup and sandwiches. Cozy place and helpful staffs. Would definitely visit again.

Not sure why this isn’t rated higher! Food is amazing and high quality and it would easily have long lines in Queenstown. I did not try their coffee tho.
