Joe's Garage is one of my personal favorites to go, whether it's just a intimate setting or whether it's a large gathering. The service and food is absolutely phenomenal. The atmosphere is great with a large area which can cater to indoors and sheltered outdoor arrangements. There is also a function room complete with mini bar and dance floor for those inclined.

It was 7.30am...first light was happening and a cold clear day was developing for this wintery saturday morning in Dunedin. Coffee was my first thought..Arlow our golden retriver dog had already awaken with a request for an early morning run. After a team meeting a compromise was agreed. JOE'S Garage..which is super dog friendly..and makes amazing breakfasts and coffee. The morning crew are incredibly passionate about the place, food and their clients. If you are either visiting or living in Dunedin hit this place up..10 out of 10..but check it out yourself...it is hidden away and that is part of the attraction..

Surprised we were able to get a table for about 15 people without a booking but ended up in the outdoor area. Ordering wasn't difficult and the meals all came around the same time. We even had a few stragglers who were easily accommodated. I had the autobahn schnitzel and it was alright. The gravy that came with it was nice with the chips. Decent pub food.

Regulars at Joe's Garage in Christchurch, same menu & quality of service, definitely would recommend getting into the loyalty program. We like what they have done with this spot, and the dual entrance way from George & Fredrick St. Second visit: the steak could have been better, but otherwise a nice visit.

The menu displays all the kiwi classics, no surprise there and nothing really exciting but it is good, although it is totally overpriced. Service if just ok. It would be an average 3 stars place If it didn't have the patio: it is really nice to be able to eat under the sun light (and there are too few places in Dunedin where you can).

We always eat at Joe's garage for breakfast whenever we can. Although we found that on todays visit they wasn't prepared for day after All Blacks game...it was super busy and we felt that it was quite understaffed. We waited 40 mins for our coffees and when the breakfast came out it wasn't enjoyable as other Joe's restaurants we have visited. I ordered the Gorgeous George and I got a mixture of crispy bacon and undercooked bacon...it wasn't very hot either.

We had a wonderful family meal out last night at Joe's Garage, Dunedin. Our dining experience was made even more special thanks to Levi who welcomed us from the moment we entered the door and totally engaged with our family (especially our two children aged 10 and 7) throughout the evening which was very refreshing. We look forward to returning to Joe's Garage very soon and of course we hope to bump into Levi again. You should be very proud of your staff. McKerchar family, Dunedin.

Anytime I want to take any of my family or friends for lunch I always go to Joes Garage. Inside the restaurant it gives off a very warm but vintage look/vibe. The staff are really nice and I really like the outside part of the place. They have a lovely fire inside and outside and they even provide blankets for any outside customers. The chicken burger is probably my favourite, cooked really well and tasted like it was homemade. By far one of my favourite restaurants in Dunedin :)

The food was great and the staff a very helpful and kind. Although the food portions are a little too small you'll definitely want to get a starter and desert as the main itself will not be enough for most people. The restaurant itself had a nice layout makeing it easy to navigate. 4/5 Stars

Great attentive staff. Engaging with the family. Packed and busy with a delay but was advised prior to seating. Coffee and food of the standard the have kept for years. Did not notice the delay because we were all engaged in conversation and children in the drawings there.

10/10 would come back! Staff are always attentive and very friendly, would come back just for that. Came for dessert, took a little while to come but the amazing service and ambiance makes up for it. We got the cheesecake and fruit crumble, which tasted just as good as my grandmas recipe, and topped with really nice ice cream.

Only delivered coleslaw with the previously missed order What was the point. Meal had already been completed. Milkshake was great.. Pork was advertised as having crackling and caramelized apple but none of the 4 of us had either. Disappointed the banana split was just served in a bowl rather than a long dish. But the service was good, decor interesting and everyone enjoyed their meal despite the faults.

We have been travelling NZ for two weeks and our evening meal at Joe's Garage rates right up at the top because prices were great, the atmosphere and staff excellent - all round value for money. We were a table of four and one of us had the Cheeky Joe beef cheek pie with perfect pastry on top and beautiful tender meat inside served with really good chips. One of us had the Dr Nic's which was tender chicken atop a nice salad and pearl couscous and two of us each had an Oriental Joe which was grilled marinated beef on a tasty salad. The beef could have been cooked a bit less, but apart from that it was very nice. The wine and beers were good too. All this and not a huge dinner bill at the end. Sadly we were only passing through otherwise it could have become our "regular".
