T.
Cozy local place with excellent coffee and relaxed and intimate ambience. Ideal to enjoy solo time. I loved it and will come back
S.
Best coffee shop in town.
Enjoy the seating area with free wifi or call in for a takeaway coffee. Cakes and treats are yummy and the hosts are a pleasure to deal with.
If you haven't called in here for a coffee before then you are missing out. Can also buy coffee beans/grinds from here!
T.
Best coffee in the city.. and also great service and hospitality. If you love coffee, that is the place for you. Highly recommend

Great little hipster coffee shop. With in house roasting, cosy atmosphere and the best coffee I've had in NZ I don't know what else you can ask for. I highly recommend this for any one who wants a good cup of coffee.

Love at first sight~
The Barista takes coffee seriously and makes it like a piece of artwork. Literally the best coffee I 've ever had during my stay in Southern Island.

Tiny coffee shop with decent coffee, nice service and great music. There’s not much pastries or snack though, if you’re hungry or looking for somewhere to linger for a bit longer, come next time maybe.
L.
Small but cosy shop. I like the flat white. If would be better if the tables were changed to wooden ones.
Z.

C.
This café was an insider recommendation by a local tattoo artist. Cozy and comfortable place with very strong (!) but good coffee 😍
J.

A stalwart of the Dunedin coffee scene for years, Mazagran owes its longevity to simply roasting and serving the very best coffee Dunedin has to offer. No frills (but a phenomenal magazine selection!) means you head here solely for the coffee, but you'll be returning time and time again. Genuinely friendly service to boot. A++.
S.
One of the best places for coffee in Dunedin!
T.
Best coffee in Dunedin hands down. They really only do coffee so don't expect a full cafe experience. They always have something sweet and super yummy to go with the coffee but not a lot of choice. Their takeaway beans are a must and the recent addition of an EFTPOS machine is welcome. Not sure if they still refuse to do trim milk as I drink my coffee black. Fun, quirky barista, interesting customers who are always keen for a yarn, ever-changing art on the walls, and good reading material make this an excellent spot to while away an hour with an excellent cup of coffee.
P.
Kitch little coffee house. Good selection of bean blends to choose from. Know how to make good coffee. Well presented, looks like the locals, local where you still feel welcome. No food or slices on offer just good coffee.
P.
Delicious coffee roasted inhouse, good wifi and very friendly people :)
C.
Outstanding coffee. Hands down the best coffee I had in New Zealand - and I had lots. The staff were wonderful to chat with each day. If I lived in Dunedin, this would certainly be my local. A real gem and I hope they do well.
K.
I come here weekly to have a flat white and take a bag of fresh roasted beans home. Pleasant staff, cozy atmosphere, and always a great cup of coffee - which is (in my opinion) the best New Zealand has to offer.
Ç.
Really nice place, I especially appreciate the pay after you have finished your drink option. A truly relaxed atmosphere which is complemented by the fantastic customer service. I really enjoy the coffee as well, very nicely made. Keep up the good work!
Y.
Fantastic place! The first time I dropped by and bought a choc brownie, it was really delicious. The coffee bar have a warm and quiet magic, it makes me feel accompanied and warm. Nice flat white^ - ^
C.
What a find! Needed a quick coffee in the octagon at 9am on a Monday morning. Figured I’d head down to Dog with two tails. Silly me didn’t realise they’re closed on mondays. Turn around and low and behold, small tables and chairs outside a building. Was in and out in 10mins. Coffee was nice and strong with the perfect temp. My new go-to coffee joint when I’m in the Octagon.
D.
No doubt that this cafe offers The BEST coffee in NZ. I hav tried C1, and other cafes that are claimed to be one of the best cafe in NZ. This place is sooo good. If you are fan of coffees and in Dunedin, or even in NZ, u have to try this place!

These guys are the reason I am roasting coffee now. My wife and I started our cafe in 1999 and we went everywhere to find the right coffee, and found it in Invercargill. roasted in Dunedin by Chris and Simon at Mazagran. In all our years of coffee drinking, We would say that this is the most consistent flavour we have tasted. Take cash, because your plastic's no good, but the coffee and ambience are very good

Amazing coffee, distinct taste, no matter the bean. smooth chocolate or crisp and fruity. I've been caught trying to pay with my card more than once, the trip up the street with the $20 note was 100% worth it!
P.
Could well be the best coffee in Dunedin, both for fresh espresso and for buying ground beans. Plus the atmosphere's great for just sitting and reading. Great!
J.
Always friendly, cute bald barrista.

(Translated) We drove all the way from Christchurch to Dunedin. We had coffee in several places including Queenstown. Literally the BEST coffee we've ever had on our trip. The coffee shop is like a gem in Dunedin.
The appearance is subtle and refined, and the attitude of the barista to make coffee is like making a piece of art. Let's have a cup of coffee if you are in Dunedin.
