Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, hot choc and flat white were tasty but not the warmest.

Great little cafe just across the university campus. Had the steak sandwich and the tomato soup together with a cheese and herbs scone. All the food are very nice. Staff are friendly and the coffee were very good too. Very well price food too.

Best coffee in town! We had Bagel smoked salmon and eggs bene with bacon. The Bagel cream cheese smoked salmon and mesculin with my usual mochacino. The smoked salmon was great fresh mesculin however Bagel was quite tough. I requested for a steak knife to cut the bagel. Bagel was crispy and fresh but was just tough when cold. The eggs bene was perfect, runny yolk and bacon was crispy. But could use a bit more of the hollandaise. Good portion too

The name implies it all - anything that is good for our Mother Earth, this cafe utilises organic produces to make its food, uses biodegradable go cup & lids, takeaway containers, serviettes and cutleries. They even offer reusable straws, and recyclable all glass, paper, plastic, cards, tins, spent coffee grinds and food scraps. Another reason why I chose to have breakfast here was to look at my university for one last time. It is just directly opposite St David Building overlooking the giant University of Otago sign. ◾BBQ pulled pork in toasted artisan bun with apple slaw - pulled pork is something that I can't get enough of. ◾Moroccan Roast Chicken with preserved lemon couscous yoghurt & organic salad ◾Free Range Poached Eggs, bacon, organic spinach & lemon hollandaise on artisan toast. ◾Croissant with butter and jam - a simple request from the eldest one. Crispy, fluffy and aromatic ◾this cafe is proud of their locally roasted, fair trade coffee.. each and every cup prepared by their trained barrista. Well.. this concludes my NZ write-up and next.. Melbourne! FYI... Melbourne trip was actually in 2018.. lol!!

Lovely food. They got many selection of vegan, gluten free and diary food choices. Good for fussy customers lol. And I can see they are environmental friendly as they use paper takeaway containers and straws. Can't ask for more in this cafe. I just love it!!

Lazy Saturday late morning brunch. Coffee is okay, depends on the barrister on duty I guess. Deco looks clean and fresh. Not a bad way to spend your weekend mornings. Food is good

I decided to visit this cafe based on the positive reviews found on google maps. The cafe lives up to expectations with friendly cheerful staff and a good selection of affordable healthy menu options. The salmon and cream cheese bagel was delicious.

Good coffee, lots of organic food but tasty things abound. Frequented by university staff and faculty. Can get busy. In season very nice outside seating. Kid friendly but hardwood floors and high ceilings mean indoor voices are mandatory - one over energised child can ruin the experience for everyone. Reasonable prices, friendly and competent staff.

Great for gf, df, and vegan dietary requirements. If you’re df I suggest the lumberjack slice, it’s to die for. Portions are a little small for what they’re worth, so I would recommend a main and a dessert. A great little spot next to Otago Uni, warm, friendly staff.

Fair priced decent long black, $4 double shot

Delicious. Organic herb and onion potato cake with free range scambled eggs and good, very good bacon. Flat white was tasty and full bodied, the lemin lovers slice had a good amount of lemon taste. Oh boy, I feel well fed, and the family agrees. Good service and marvelous flavours after a long easter weekend of camping food.

Lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff, excellent food and coffee. They catered to my need for marmite on toast (although not on menu). My daughter had the vegan breakfast which she thoroughly enjoy. Recommend you try

I truly had high hopes for Good Earth but the prices are just too high for the amount of food and for how great it tastes. I had the vegan French toast for $16 when it'd take maybe $5 to make at home. The amount I was expecting for $16 was significantly larger than the amount that I received and it honestly didn't taste good. After that, the cafe is just too busy; it's hard to find a seat and if you do, it's crowded and you'll feel claustrophobic. Their overall message of recycling everything they can and using almost entirely organic foods is a nice message but I don't think it's worth it, to be honest.

Very popular for work lunches and I can see why. A great selection of fresh food catering to all tastes and dietary requirements. A varied selection of food that was refreshingly unusual. A nice space too, very light and airy but a buzzing atmosphere. We were lucky to get a table.

Another Dunedin cafe that was less than welcoming. Really wanted to give a better rating as Food was great, best coffee so far in Dunedin, and cafe had nice feel... my happy afternoon vibe was spoiled by staff indifference To our being there.

Up in price but great flavour in the meal

Highish expectations and menu looked great but...the air conditioning could have been switched on, the vacuuming could have waited until it was closed and the cakes were not as good as they looked. Might not come again.

I've been here a few times just due to convenience (near Uni). Bagels are usually pretty good but the coffee is terrible! I ordered a flat white and I couldn't finish it. I decided to try again with an iced coffee last week, but ALAS they don't have them here. I think if they opened a window, the noise could be dissolved a bit more effectively - the children on the table next to me were super noisy and the space doesn't suit noisy people at all. The building itself is really pretty though, and the preserves decorating the windows are really cute.

Spacious, cosy and had a lot of room, wasn't too busy when we went in. Bakery looked really good with a variety of sweets available. Coffee was really hot, and masked the poor quality of the coffee itself, however I've noticed New Zealand in general doesn't invest in good quality coffee. Prices seemed fairer than most other cafes I've tried in NZ. They put in enough coffee so it wasn't watered down (always a plus) and staff seemed friendly.

This is an awesome vibrant cafe. They always deliver fantastic food and coffee, with a wide range to suit almost any palette. One of the best places in town proving that vegan /vegetarian /eco friendly food does not mean you sacrifice flavour. I have just finished a wonderful monkfish hotpot. It was one of the best I have had in a long time. The coffee is always top notch with a good range of options. The staff all really know the products and have always been incredibly friendly. Arguably one of the best value dining experiences in Dunedin.

Busy but a good vibe...coffee was good

Asked if they did an ice latte which I was then corrected and told it’s an ice coffee (in NZ ice coffees are often served with ice cream and/ or cream and are usually sweet, which was why I asked for the latte) and there was a selection in the fridge. I then asked if they had ice thinking I’d just poor my flat white over it as I’ve often done over here (the bottled ones taste odd to me) and it’s never been a problem, and she looked annoyed again and frostily said no. I’ve never been corrected and have a service person been so negative- odd. I’m hoping she was just having a bad day.

A good variety of gluten free and dairy free options

Four of us had breakfast at The Good Earth this morning. As tourists for the past two weeks we have had lots of breakfasts recently and this is right up there with the best. Three of us had the potato cakes with PERFECTLY soft poached eggs (we have had way too many hard ones recently), with delicious bacon and chutney/kasundi. The fourth person had the polenta crusted eggplant with poached eggs and instead of bacon, they added roast tomatoes and delicious mushrooms. The coffee was excellent as was the bread/toast that was served. Well done to the kitchen, and the waitstaff were pleasant too. It is a shame we won't be able to return until our next visit to NZ.

The people at this cafe go above and beyond. I am carnivore (extreme low carb), so I politely asked if it was possible for them to do me an off-menu lunch meal. They bent over backwards to look after me. I had an absolutely delicious steak with a very cheesy omelette, all cooked in butter (I can't eat oils, gives me a sick tummy). The food was sensational. So kudos to this cafe for caring about their customers. We aren't all the same, we have varying dietary needs, and the staff/owner at this cafe obviously recognises this.

The absolute best cheese herb scone I’ve ever had. Order it warmed up with buttter it’s amazing. And they’re huge. The coffee is good, not incredible, but not bad.

Nice healthy breakfast options for everyone if you're not really into fry-ups. We had the muesli and the porridge. Vegan, gluten-free options all available.

The name, The Good Earth covers their main focus on food. I often eat here as the food is based on healthy options and covers most dietary requirements. The staff are wonderful and happy to assist with information re allergies. The interior is quite funky. The cafe is on the Otago University campus and is very popular. There is outdoor seating and also a private courtyard. There is a water bowl for dogs outside.

Cute place. Quite pricey for what you get but I guess if you're into wholeness and cruelty free food, this is an ideal cafe.

Dunedin is truly spoilt with some of the best cafes in NZ. The Good Earth is a star amongst them. Incredibly delicious food, great location, brilliant service, superb coffee, fantastic atmosphere. Always a highlight of our trip south and one of the reasons we love visiting this gorgeous university city

I thought with the high ratings this would be a winner. Coffee was OK but I like my latte creamy but wasn't really here. The food was OK, vibe was good. Its not a bad place but not amazing either.

The coffee wasn't bad and the smoothie was quite nice. Poached eggs cooked to perfection (maybe slightly underdone but better that that overdone) Potatoes and bacon under cooked, couldn't finish meal

A big thank you to Jill at 'The Good Earth Cafe' in Dunedin. Having been caught out with a hungry tummy on Easter Sunday with nothing 'vegan-ish' open - the lovely Jill served us last minute take aways, invited us to dine in her courtyard out of hours and gave us a complimentary and delicious slice of vegan, sugar free fruit cake. If you are ever in Dunedin and want delicious, organic, fresh food - head to the 'The Good Earth Cafe'. Good people, good food and great outdoor murals.

Conveniently located across uni, the ambience is nice and rustic, sweets are spectacular, but the pulled pork dish we had today was lackluster. May try the other dishes to see if they're any better.
