the best cheese scone I’ve had in NZ! with a little bit capsicum, toasted with some chopped parsley. So yum!!! You can even build your own big breakfast here with heaps of choice, I had poached eggs with honey roasted salmon & cheese scone! The hand cut fires my partner had were delicious as well. Friendly staff & excellent service❤️Highly recommended!

I love the 'Build your own breakfast' option, which I have regularly, sadly though the portions have been reduced considerably so be warned your serving will be miserly. Still great tasting food and coffee, but perhaps try something else on the menu.

Theo's place is a hidden gem in Hamilton, I always walked passed wondering why there was so many people seated in the Cafe. But now I am a regular, the salads are amazing and healthy and the menu options are also excellent. But above all else the Service here is amazing, Theo is so friendly and willing to go above and beyond for his customers, I really wish more cafe owners/staff are this friendly and passionate like Theo and his team. This place is one of the top 3 cafe's in Hamilton and a must try for lunch! Also duck island is just around the corner for a grand finish.

Had eggs Florentine yesterday. There was a little spoon of pale polenta hidden under the eggs. Disappointing. We also had polenta chips which were a different to what was on my plate. Puzzling. Not that impressed. I grew up eating polenta.

Fantastic Casual dining. Really relaxed friendly atmosphere. I have dined there twice in the past two weeks. This evening I had the lamb ribs which were beautifully cooked and extremely good. Followed this with the Hazelnut and Pistachio torte which I enjoyed as it was not too sweet and worked well with the fresh fruit.

Very funky vibe. Loved my cauliflower salad mix and match with salmon. Another customer had the special sausage and mash looked good value for $16. Coffee was quite strong a little bitter but maybe should have ordered next size up. Staff very friendly. I'll be back. Hard to find park on Grey street but a 90 minute limit car park down side street near travel agency city end of grey street

This cozy café has left the best impression,,, I really like the atmosphere, good coffee, and nice interiors . I only popped in to get take-away Coffee but I was struck by how friendly the service was. The coffee were wonderful too! And very well priced. Will go again ,,,

A pretty decent place to pick up some coffee. The selection is exactly what you would expect, they even have a liquor license for some reason. The food selection is decent. I don't love the layout. It seems crowded even when it's not that busy. Not the perfect place to have coffee and a cozy conversation since you'll feel like you're conversing with the people at the table next to you but if meeting new people is your style this may be the place for you. The drinks are hot and the latte art is on point. I wouldn't call the coffee memorable but it does the job. Takeaway sizes are pretty small for the money so if you go make sure you have time to enjoy on site.

Bustling little cafe in the heart of Hamilton East. First time dining here today, was very impressed. Very extensive menu with a wide range of food to choose from! Took me a long time to decide what I wanted!! Considering how busy the place was the wait for food was reasonable. I ordered the scrambled eggs with maple smoked salmon & it was delicious. Decent portion sizes, friendly staff. Good value.

I called by today by sheer chance being in the area for an appointment. The cafe looked interesting from the outside and even more interesting inside with well presented, tasty looking cabinet food. I’ve just read other ratings which seem a bit variable. So here’s my experience. The coffee was perfect for me. Definitely not too strong for my taste. Hopefully the same again next visit (I plan to make a point of going again). I had the special, lemon chicken linguini (which sounded unusual enough to try) and it was amazing! Utterly delicious in taste and texture. A good quality Restaurant standard. I was blown away. So I do hope the standard is consistent because if today is anything to go by, the overall experience was exceptional. Good service, great decor. Fabulous coffee and food (and the loo spotlessly clean with Ashley and Co hand wash and lotion, a thoughtful luxury). I’m certainly looking forward next visit. What a find!

Gorgeous! Visited last Friday for tapas and cocktails, atmosphere was cosy. Great live music. Staff are awesome people. One place that the staff seem to enjoy actually being there which is rare for Hamilton. Worth a visit just for the banter! Delicious food, everything we ordered. Reasonably priced and generous servings. Back today for the coffee and breakfast. First coffee place I've found which actually tastes great. Not to mention the fact the staff know exactly where their products are sourced etc, which goes great with the area. Nice to see local art displayed too. Definitely my new go-to, and I recommend everyone tries! Will be back for more and will add photos later!

A great café in Hamilton! I really enjoyed their 'make your own big breakfast' option - basically you can choose from 2 - 5 options to be added from about 12 choices I think? Can obviously double up on some favourites if you feeling keen for it. The thick bacon served with the breakfast was really good. Definitely above average in a sea of cafés.

I was very impressed with my first visit - impressive menu, catered to a more discerning taste. Excellent food, excellent service. Easy to see why it's so popular. However, the next day when I went back, I had a completely different experience. The elements in the breakfast I ordered did not combine at all well taste-wise (eggs, polenta and salmon), and the service we received was poor. Their beetroot latte with coconut milk is delicious, as is food from the cabinet. Not the best cafe in Hamilton.

100% recommend! Great atmosphere, great food and staff. Lord Theo, the owner is really lovely! Place is absolutely booming, every time I go past or go in, it's packed! Place is kid friendly (some books, toys, kids menu) Everything on the menu looks enticing and is all reasonably priced. No extra charge for soy, trim, coconut, or almond milk which is amazing. Every other cafe I've been to charges for that. There's blankets and cushions available if you want too!

Really good food and atmosphere. Im a little confused by the service :) I have had lunch here a few times in the past couple of weeks. I have had an omelette, one of the poached egg dishes, and a date and orange scone. I would happily recommend any of them. The various meals of the people that I was with (eggs, burger, chicken with potatoe waffles and various slices) also got the thumbs up. The coffee is good. The cabinet is also good with sweet and savory food, which includes a build your own salad option. Special mention goes to the fried chicken with potatoe waffles, which is large enough that my teenage son did not finish it. I understand that their variation of the big breakfast is equally filling/daunting/a challenge (choose the adjective that best suits your response to large meals). My confusion about the service is that I am not sure if it is table service or not :) I have had table service. The guy that served us on each occasion was cheerful and gave useful answers to questions about the menu. However, I've also had to go to the counter go to order. Service at the counter was reasonably prompt and pleasant. To be clear, I have no complaints about the people that served me. It is just that I am not sure whether or not table service is the norm. Bottom line ... It is good. Good enough that when the question of where to go has arisen I have confidently made the executive decision for the group to go to CSY and, at the conclusion of the meal, the group has validated the decision. Recommend.

I was like amazed at the transformation. Theo's is so much more. The place is better with the renovation. The coffee is so GOOD! and the EGGS FLORENTINE IS A MUST HAVE! the sauce!! $18 was the price, but so worth it!! Watch out for bicycles on the footpath stepping out, can be hazardous with them riding. For a place that has only been open 7 weeks it was packed! Staff were on point running a full cafe and so so polite and helpful with the menu. We did wait about 30mins for our food but like I said, the place was packed. We honestly didn't realise the wait was that long because staff took the time to chat to us and bring our drinks out first. Meal was worth the wait. Good portion sizes and delicious. They also offer cabinet food for sit in or takeaway. Coffee was great too.

I visited Sunday morning with Miss 8 who is a pancake connoisseur; this is her standard order every weekend. Getting there before the crowd we were pleasantly greeted by Theo and got the story of the cafe. She had: hot chocolate and pancakes. I opted for a spicy chai with creamy mushrooms. The mushies were fab topped with gorgeous kale. Unfortunately the pancakes were too dry to eat (I also tried a bite). Requesting a glass of water to help wash the food down did little to assist so they were left. Mobile eftpos payment would be helpful, as we waited 10 minutes in the queue to pay on leaving.
