A.Decent size breakfast meal. We had the Lake Breakfast. It was OK but lots of individual components, nothing to bring the plate together and a bit dry.
R.A very pleasant brunch experience for 3 of us, with 2 of us from North of Auckland joining a friend from the Waikato. Generous plates of food served with cool refreshing drinks in a warm relaxed outdoor setting. It was like finding an oasis after 107 days of lockdown in the Auckland "desert/prison"
n.Not overly busy . Excellent customer service. Prices are pretty much up there.Meal portions are on the small end,but then I am a bigger person.(no left overs).
Otherwise enjoyed the overall experience.
A.Hard to provide a write-up : mainly because of Covid conditions. Very long line of customers due to the fact that so much documentation has to be produced per customer, which is taking time to process. Obviously a popular place: lake edge. Very busy the day I visited so hard to be negative when there are many families lining up for service.
Staff were efficient checking necessary documents.
K.Went for breakfast and tried their Melt Challenge entry. Service was good, one of our orders came not as described and they were quick to sort that for us. The drinks were great too. Plus the location is fantastic, the playground is right there.
M.Good staff and location. My Bacon muffin was nice but the kumera in the salad was only half cooked. Maybe firm kumera looks better in salads but I like mine soft. .Two members of our party had a banana cream donut. The filling was nice but they both commented that the donut itself did not seem fresh.
B.Great view from the veranda, reasonable food, poor selection of drinks and expensive compared to the central city, location fabulous, but don't step in what the ducks leave behind.

B.Cozy coffee shop with a yummy breakfast menu. Great place to hang out after a walk in the lake. We loved the macadamia granola with coconut yogurt and tofu egg scramble. Friendly staff as well.

S.I attended a work related session in one of the function rooms, which was catered for by by the venue. I have a long list of food allergies and was very impressed by the chef and what he created for me to eat, in view of how limiting my long list is.
A.Very easy to order via scan to menu. Order and pay at your table. True contactless.
T.Fantastic! I am super fussy and this place was awesome. The food is real! No packet salmon or hash browns here. Service was super fast and friendly and the location is simply the best in all of Hamilton. We will definitely be back next time we come down from Auckland. Yes it's better than most Auckland Cafe's. Well done The Verandah Cafe.

s.bit expensive great location at lake.need a fish and chip shop.just that everybody takes there families to the lake.and alot of people take there takeaways to the lake.every now and then,everyone likes fish and chips at the lake just a thought.need free bbq's around lake.just another thought.location is at lake entrance on hospital side 👍💯
v.Delicious oatmeal with fresh fruit, dried fruit, cinnamon and coconut. Love that they offer DF, GF and use free range products. Very happy with my breakfast and the view is lovely.
A.We had a presentation here for work and it was great, super fast communication from Scott and everything was so easy from the initial arrangement to setup on the day :-)
J.The food was tasty, the coffee good and the service reasonably fast, and if I only rated it on those three things it would have been 5 stars... However it was quite expensive and the tables were cleared but not wiped and I had to use my napkin to clean the table... so 3 stars it is! I would come again but possibly not at peak lunch time. The lake and park makes up for it though 😁

A.Delicious chips! But mediocre service. Small sample size but they told my wife it would be 5m then it was 10 to 15. She had to be like "are those my chips?" cos they were sitting there. Then they were super delicious so I went back to order more and had THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE. Still yum tho 😛
M.We both had great coffee and food, with a fantastic atmosphere. The service was super friendly and the location is nice for a bit of R&R with a walk around the lake.

F.Awesome location right next to the big playground and lake so great option especially if you have kids. Coffee was decent but sadly food quality was below average. Had the chicken schnitzel burger and the beef burrito. Schnitzel was very dry and the sauce taste was too tangy. Guess its only popular due to its location.

l.One of the first few places we saw on our New Zealand visit. Nice little events place with a view of the lake.
D.Not too badly priced and decent service. Took a little bit to get our food but wasn't a massive issue. Also, be careful on the sofas. They're very soft and you sink into them so you end up being quite a way from each other. Nice food though.

s.I would have given a 5 star if my 26$ meal didn't have slimy brown lettuce hidden under the fresh stuff because the rest was mouth watering. I would have made a complaint there & then but I down played it as was having a very important meet so I thought I would do a review instead. My cappuccino was absolutely beautiful. Sadly only a small detail fail but its disappointing when such a beautiful meal.

A.A fairly average experience. Had to ask for my table to be wiped down and 2 quiirts of disinfectant on a cloth and a quick wipe over seemed inadequate. Food choice was limited but the coffee was okay. Service at the counter was friendly, Outlook great, atmosphere was average

R.Scott and the amazing team at The Verandah hosted our Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust Stakeholder Function. The staff were brilliant, the food divine and the venue itself is perfect, showcasing the beautiful lake and surrounding gardens. Loads of parking and well located makes it the perfect choice for any function requirements.
G.We Had our work function here. Nice atmosphere awesome view of the lake. It was worth the experience. Good place to have any type of event at. The only thing that let it down was the food was cold. If you're going to have food at least use warmers to heat the food. Thank you.

Y.$7.50 for an iced chocolate and it's made with water and tastes like water. I can get 5L of milk for that 250ml price. A smear of chocolate sauce on the cup doesn't make it an iced chocolate. This was disappointing. Everything else is O.K/average. Beautiful setting.
H.Been here a number of times now. Coffee isn't too bad. Bit of a wait at times. So might need another barista behind the coffee machine at times. A few different seating arrangements with tables to accommodate small or large groups, some lounges for something more casual or intimate. Just being by the lake is a bonus.

Friendly staff, great music (80s vibe happening today which I am so here for 🤣), brilliant view of the lake and Mt Pirongia. The lake, amazing playgrounds (including a new parkour one)and cafe are an asset to the city
S.When we needed to find a venue at short notice, The Verandah came to the party. Communication with Kerri prior to the event was prompt and efficient and everything was perfect on the day. Fabulous catering - plenty of really tasty food for our large group. A perfect location with ample parking. We will be back.

J.The Verandah hosted a memorial for my mum. The staff were wonderful, helpful and willing to make everything perfect. I highly recommend them for your next event. The catering was great as well along wih the bar service.
J.Everytime iv brought food here it's been average. Nothing special. I'd avoid eating here if I wasnt visiting the playground too.

Ice creams are ridiculous priced.

J.The price might be a little bit higher than other Cafe but you will find the food very delicious. I have experience with the breakfast menu so far and you can not go wrong. Especially the granola is one of the best I have experienced in a Cafe.

A good menu for morning or after noon tea or maybe a meal. you can get it all with a relaxing view of the lake. They also have a conference center. there is also a children's play ground to keep youngsters happy

J.Have been to this cafe many times and I would recommend it on the weekend when its busy. There seems a much larger food selection and better service. By comparison during the week (Monday) it was empty and uninviting.
Has the fabulous children's playground and Hamilton lake right outside.
R.A lovely place to enjoy lunch in Hamilton. Lake on your doorstep and an amazing kiddies playground to keep the little ones amused, for hours. Was disappointed with our little mans chicken tenders meal, for an item on the kids menu the tenders were a wee bit spicy for him 😟 the fries went down a treat tho. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting.

V.Great location next to the lake and playground, was a busy Sunday morning so coffee took a long time to arrive. The potato wedges I ordered actually arrived first and were gigantic! Acoustics are not great for conversation. Tables are slow to be cleared. A tad on the expensive side for Hamilton.

G.It was very busy and the line to order was very slow moving.If you are in a hurry avoid busy times. Good coffee and nice food menu. Not a lot of small snack foods like savories or sandwiches, everything is quite big. But good.

I can be complimentary enough of the staff. They were all so friendly, helpful and accommodating, from the time of booking, taking orders, bringing out food and drinks, storing the cake for us etc.
And reasonably priced also.
Would recommend to anybody looking for a stress free environment for a function 🙂

g.Their food is good, abit pricey but its worth every cent. For a meal of wedges with bacon, cheese & spring onion & a drink you have to have atleast $20 on you. So dont go there if you have shraps. Unless youre going for coffee.

J.I suppose I just don't like what chefs cook these days. Rump steak would have been fine on its own but in cherry mustard and sprinkled with herbs, no thank you. A bakery steak pie with chips, a grilled tomato and some garden peas would have been better than the lukewarm dry kumara and fish fillets with red onion and lemon pieces. A lot of older people like good, plain food

Due to this being a popular spot positioned to overlook Hamilton Lake, it does get incredibly busy here so therefore, expect an extended wait for both service (queues to order at the counter) and meal/barista fulfilment (delivery to customer) at various times throughout the day.
A recent change in the kitchen has seen the inclusion of a paleo/keto menu option which is to be commended.
A.This cafe is an amazing spot for lunch, an ice cream, or even a wedding after party. Great location. The service is slower than I would’ve thought.
C.The verandah Cafe is set in a beautiful location, is good for dogs and offers some great food options. It is quite expensive though, and the coffee can sometimes be a bit hit and miss depending on the barista working.
J.It's got a nice view on good days, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for the food (it's OK, but the main reason to come here is the view).

B.Yum yum yum yum yum....... 2 visits in 2 days while commuting to Waikato from Auckland. HIGHLY recommend the Waffles with Manuka Honey and the Eggs Beni with fresh smoked salmon! Just what I needed while moving my 84 y/old mum

C.Tasty food. They have cabinet and menu items, plus ice cream scoops. There is often a bit of a wait here as it is very popular.
M.3 stars for the settings off this place. When I was in a hospital before labour with gestational diabetes this was the place I went for a walk and have a cuppa. Unfortunately, there are no food choices for people with diabetes so I couldn't enjoy the food.
