It's been a few years since I have been here and the cafe has been renovated/painted it's looking great. The work has been sympathetic to the build and highlights it wonderful uniqueness and it's quirky features. On my visit the staff were overwhelmed and food delivery was slow. Staff however were friendly and my food coffee were excellent. Cafe has parking, indoor and and outdoor dining, alcohol and soft drinks coffee etc, cabinet and menu items, toilets.

Very well decorated, the design is very special, like a magic castle. Recommended, especially for small children and families. Nothing special about the coffee though.

We have visited this location twice in recent months, and their coffee is much improved. The keto muffin and homemade pies are very tasty. It's a venue experience. The little bridge can be a bit slippery. I would visit again.

Best french toast! Coffe very nice too. The service could improve, but overall a good experience! Also the place and how it's been decorated make the experience very nice!

A magical and gorgeous place! Something that I have not experienced before. Food was super yummy especially the pizza. As our kai was being placed on the table. The waitress even asked us if we wanted her to get the kids that we’re having so much fun in the outside back area. Fantastic service! Was even more pleasing that they held my chocolate coffee beans that I forgot, but could collect on our way home ☺️

Nice place for visiting and enjoy the food soo much . So cheesy and creamy love the small pizza 🍕 the price is great 👍 btw try the dark chocolate! Soo yummy

Service is a bit over the place, need to rethink the strategy of take away orders and the eat in. I got two drinks and the said was 30 min wait. My sister brought a same drink after me. She waited additional 40 minutes after me and was made last priority. to the addional 30 minutes I waited and she was behind me in line.. Other than that beautiful place. Staff are lovely.

Eutopia Cafe is such a cute and quint little gem! There is something unique and interesting to see in every nook and cranny. From the mosaic floors, to the glass bottle stained windows, to the carved walls. It was so awesome! The food and drinks were stunning, and the portion sizes were good I had a brilliant time catching up with my friend.

Great cafe with beautiful decor. Menu had lots of options. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Great vibe and a little gem of a cafe on Highway 1. This cafe definitely meets the meaning of its name Eutopia = good place. I would highly recommend stopping here for a break driving and enjoy their cuisine.

We used to come here years ago for great coffee. Then it closed and it was for sale and we were a bit sad.. Its made in an adobe style and is super quirky.. So its reopened, a while ago, and we dropped in today. I was blown away. It's rare that you find something so different, from the mosaic skink on the floor to the quite fabulous murals. Eutopia needed some TLC and she has got it in spades.. It has been completely restored, with advanced adobe techniques and improved way beyond its old self. The food was honest and tasty, our tea was excellent. The coffee is probably still good too. We'll be back. Oh and the peanut butter ball was crazily good..!

It's not only a place to taste great coffee and delicious food but a real artistic experience. Probably inspired by Gaudi style this is a cafe beautifully built with delightful details everywhere. We ordered coffee and bacon eggs Benedict which comes in a small portion but tasty and stylish like the place. I'd suggest to staff to be more welcoming to make this place a must do for tourists and locals. Highly recommended! Don't forget to check out the toilets too...lol

We visited coffee and morning tea on Friday and found it to be an amazing stop The coffee is really good, delicious, and hot. We also provide a variety of muffins, scones and cakes, and everyone thinks they are very good The building is great, it's worth a visit and stop for a coffee and take a look This place is also very clean highly recommended

The environment is outstanding with all the mosaic work around. Even the toilets are amazing. Good food too. Great on a sunny warm day. There are a couple of little nooks to enjoy your coffee in if too cold outside. We enjoyed our conversation with the lovely Dutch waitress too.

Finally managed to pop in and see all the work over the last few years and it was well worth the wait. The cafe is beautifully crafted in every space plus you can get great coffee and cake. Worth planning your trip to atop here. An experience.

Wow! This place is incredible, a must strip on your way through to the North. The good is fantastic (cabinet for and cooked meals), coffee is beautiful too. The best thing is the experience of this incredible cafe, with hidden coves for a more intimate days or family eating under the sun. It's perfect for kids - they'll love exploring every nook and cranny as well as spring flowers in the fountain or walking over the bridge! You have got to stop here!!

We had the vegan salad, chicken salad, and some coffees. Have to say probably one of the best salads I've ever had! The presentation was lovely, the chicken was jucy and all the flavours and ingredients blended so well. You could really tell the cheff put love into their work. Will definitely become a repeat customer and excited to try the rest of the menu. 😊

Great coffee. I had a delicious bowl of lentil soup. A beautiful friendly chook was wandering around in the spacious courtyard.

What a lot of work has been done here, the place is looking fantastic, clean and inviting. Delicious cuppa tea with scrumptious carrot cake served by friendly staff. A must to stop here in Kaiwaka

Wow! This place is amazing! The atmosphere, the food the service, all was 5 star! I highly recommend adding a pit stop here on your trip north….or even as a destination stop!

Best date scone.... Just like those that my mother used to make. Quirky surroundings. Immaculate toilets. Definitely worth the stop.

Beautiful artisan cafe. I remember it when it first started, how interesting it was. There has been so much added now, beautiful mosaics, painting, concrete sculpture. A fantasy wonderland. At its best in summer as its largely outdoors, tho there are some really cute little alcoves and booths, even have throw rugs for those like me who feel the cold. Loos too, which is good to know.

Decent food, very friendly staff. Lovely spot for breakfast. Only con was that you can see the men peeing through the glass of the bathroom door. 🤣

Well worth the stop just to look at the quirky art. Love the Van Gogh style. I had Eggs Benedict and the eggs were overcooked, but they used really great salmon and it was divine, which I felt made up for it a little. Cant wait until they get a liquor licence and start dinners. Have since visited again and let them know it was an issue previous visit and they served it perfectly last week. Great place!

Amazing place to have brunch. Reminded me of Park Guell in Barcelona with all its mosaics and intricate features even the bathrooms are impressive.. Great space out the back for a special event.

This was awesome. Better mosaics than the famous Kawakawa toilets. Great cafe dinning outside as well as cute little rooms. Food and coffee was tasty and well made.

This is awesome. The whole place is like a fantasy world. Sit inside, or have a little booth inside etc. The food is very nice and is right next to my fav cheese shop, so a winner all round.!!😄👍👍

Amazing cafe in Kaiwaka N.Z. coffee and cakes to die for. Sooo interesting mosaics, decor, lighting, sculptures. I came over from Australia yesterday & recommend this cafe to all who are travelling the north road from Auckland.

Stopped in after coming back from up north. Coffee was strong and good. Had the mussels as well as the bread and dips which both were very tasty and fresh. Service was friendly and efficient. Artwork was amazing and sitting in the sum was a bonus. Stop by on your travels.

My father built Cafe Eutopia when I was around 11yrs old. He sold it about 8years ago. It was very emotional to come back today and see the beautiful transformation that has taken place since then. The new owners have made it their own while keeping the foundations my family had all had a part in creating. I had tears of joy to see such beauty and all the amazing work that had gone into it to finally make it a finished artwork. Stunning

Eutopia lives up to its name. It is a 'Must Visit' whenever you travel through Kaiwaka. Feast your eyes on the incredible decor, in fact, take the time to explore the building, inside and out, and you will find treasures at every turn. Don't forget to look up at the roof and down at the floors and check out the toilets. The Artistry continues with the food. Tasty and beautifully presented while still being value for money. The menu has a good balance of large and small items, some vegetarian/vegan and optional extras so that you can customize your meal. The drinks menu also offers many options. The staff also seem to be enjoying their environment and were very welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient. We left feeling wonderfully fortified in body and soul. Can't wait to take our friends and family.

Bacon & egg breakfast was very nicely presented ..all components on the plate we're cooked to perfection, this meal was very tasty and easy to eat. The Cappuccino coffee was good too. The meal, the coffee & the environment was 5 stars all the way, however four stars were given, because the nine dollar milkshake I purchased to go, was way underwhelming for the price tag.

The decade or so that this place was closed for renovations was worth the wait - what a beautiful wee oasis it is! The time and effort that has gone into building it is clear. Cabinet food is pleasant and well-priced and the little booths are cosy and cute. Will be making regular stops here en route to/from Auckland.

Have driven past there for 4 years. So happy we stopped yesterday. It is just beautiful inside and out. Outside area is very big and decorated wonderfully.

Really a "must see" cafe if you haven't already. The plaster murals are a real work of art along with the gorgeous decorative tiling. The food and coffee is great as well! A nice spot to break that journey.

Wow! Wish I could have spent longer. Toilets to rival Hundertwasser's, a morepork mural Van Gogh style, and much more. National treasure in the making. Good food and coffee too.

Epic atmosphere, lots of cool structures and sculptures to look at while you wait for some delicious food. They are vegan and vegetarian friendly with a few options on the menu

Nice that this place is open again. We had been here many years ago when our boy was 4, now 10 and now get to enjoy it with our 3 year old girl. I think we enjoyed the place more than what we were expecting in regards to the food. Food was good and pretty pricey, woule be good to have more kid friendly options. Overall staff were friendly and surroundings of the place is creative, artisitc and magical!👌🏽😍

Awesome little quiet little cafe with superb fresh cooked food

This is a dog friendly Café (yay for pawrents) and the coffee was so good!! As you can see from the pics the interior design was so special, it is a great place to either chilling for a day here or stopping by to get meals and coffee. We will visit again :)

Has been beautifully renovated, think it looks even better than when it was first built! Coffee and the little snack treat I bought were both very yummy! My only advice would be to wear sensible footwear, as the tiles were a little slippery. Staff were lovely.

Absolutely beautiful food we had pizza was the best. Plus the atsomphere so much work has been put into this place, labour of love.

Well I'm the founder and resident 'wizard' - but since google maps asks I'll say: I love this place! 102 years old this year, still sound bones. The building that is! I'm only 65 this year... Some wonderful people are finding their way to our dreamspace. Hobbithavens HQ is now in progress in the back yard, artists drop-in space in front...with open invitation for any positive art to be echibited in the gallery. A public free library of eclectic character with a round table for meetings... If the gate at the side is open we're in...welcome! Even if no sign on footpath.. the shop part isn't currently 'personed' but there's lots of my art and crafts for sale...

Have always driven past but finally popped in . The building is sooo pretty and the craftsmen ship is amazing. Food awesome something for everyone vegan , gulten free and bacon . My dad had the seafood chowder and I had the vegan big breakfast so yum . All Auckland trips will now have this as a stop.

Pretty good coffee, but you don't come here for that - the whole place is a work of art. Not a straight line anywhere, and the sculptures, glass work and tiling are amazing too. Friendly staff, decent food and drinks. Recommended.

What a glorious place with its intimate private dining areas and the beautiful mosaics all around. I really loved my first visit there and I intend to make this a regular stop on our journey as we pass through.

Food is fine. Cafe sets up uniquely and it has plenty of space. We went there on 27/12/20 on our way back from holiday, and found this place. It was a busy day and took over 45 minutes to have our food after putting the orders in. The service could have been better. Overall, it's ok.

Amazing place to visit. As much a destination as a cafe. The interior is a artwork creation of its own. Rush coffee was great and I highly recommend the savoury muffin. The stonework is so cool, it’s like the owners turned their childhood fantasy into reality. Really cool. Loved looking around seeing what has been created.

Called in for brunch on the way north. I fancied a bacon sarnie and the owners were happy to indulge me even though they didn't have one on the menu. I was expecting the usual Cafe fare but instead I was served up what had to be the best bacon sarnie ever! Kudos to the awesome lady in the kitchen! Coffee was equally excellent. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing.

If Hobbiton had a café this would be it, and it would probably run by expat Elves given the highly creative artisan decor. The lovely, secluded alcoves are a really nice touch. Very nice, hot coffee. Good, chilled background music. Heaps of seating outdoors, mostly shaded. Efficient and friendly staff. These folks have made a quality café where others would have set up a tourist trap. Go here, you won't be disappointed.

The Eutopia Cafe in Kaiwaka is wonderful place to stop when heading north or south they offer a wide range of meals, cabinet snacks and drinks and their coffee is great. The team is helpful and the service is quick. There is a large out door area and doors are welcome. When passing through next stop and try them out.

Great range of alternative milk options and well-made coffee. But most importantly, it is an artistic delight with beautiful details and whimsical treasures hidden around every corner. The Van Gogh inspired nook is a national treasure. After 50 days of exploring NZ and stopping at many cafes along the way, this one takes the cake. Thank you Eutopia.

Wow!! What an amazing job you have done with this place. I used to come here every time I travelled north and when I heard you had reopened I was excited to see the transformation. I was not disappointed. The food too was fresh, clean and delicious. Vegan wrap on Tuesday and falafel salad yesterday. Well done!! Can't wait to see you again.

You don’t see these places often. You eat in little alcoves decorated with paintings in the style of Van Gogh. There’s water fountains with red fish in them. It’s out of this world even with busy SH1 just right next to it. The food was really nice and fresh. There’s a lot to eat in your plate which is definitely a plus. Coffee was really nice. It can be really busy so if you’re in a hurry it may not be the best place to enjoy a restful moment. Will definitely be back

Nice atmosphere created with unusual art forms and private settings. Nice and sunny outdoor area. Found the service to be quite personalised. Definitely included as a stopping point for a coffee and some food.

Lovely friendly service, delicious food and a reasonable price. The decor is astounding too. An all round wonderful experience. The young lady taking our order was newish and got a bit muddled but she stayed calm and pleasant and it all got sorted. I commend her for trying so hard and her lovely smile

Really good cafe. The first time we discovered it accidentally. However since then, everytime we're travelling up north, we HAVE to stop by there. Food there is okay, not bad not extremely good either. However you go there for the ambience and the picturesque location. Ideal for instagram. Absolutely worth a visit.

I had been to Eutopia prior to its renovation and reopening, but was amazed by the beautiful recrafting of the whole complex, in a style reminiscent of Hundertwasser. Stopping at Kaiwaka for refreshments at Eutopia is a complete experience - from the jewel-like semi-private rooms where lovers or families can eat in seclusion, to the exquisite gardens and water feature with gold-fish, to the extensive menu and counter selection, it won't disappoint. We had the creamy mushrooms on toast, poached eggs, and French toast with berries, all declared to be delicious. Prices were reasonable. Highly recommended as part of a Northland holiday experience.

Drove all the way from Manukau and we were NOT disappointed. What a funky, quirky cafe. Lots of seating indoors and outside, plenty of space for kids to roam and even some toys for the. Also super friendly staff, clean toilets, delicious food that caters to all needs, comfy deats, fish pond and just so much to look at and discover. Very well done and well laid out. We will be back. Worth the drive!

Quirky cafe with interesting food. Indoor areas are small so limited comfort options in adverse weather. Unusual architecture, well worth a visit. Staff helpful. Coffee is the award winning Rush Coffee, very nice. Not cheap but quirkyness and quality of food go a long way to mitigate that. Only reasons this cafe didn't get 5 🌟 from me were the weather limitations and price. Teaspoons with coffee would also be nice.

We were so impressed that the kitchen prepared a special meal for our daughter with coeliac disease. We loved the atmosphere of the place even on a rainy day, beautiful mosaics everywhere and we had our own little hidey hole, and the gluten free meal was just a bonus on their hospitality. The food and coffee was amazing, staff were friendly, and the setting hard to beat, right off SH1.

Stunning location, such inspiring artwork capruring so many new Zealand native flora and fauna. The design and construction is a never wnding discovery of interesting things. And then there's the fantastic food. Delicious, fresh and excellent.

Though we arrived there after 2:30pm just before closing, they made good coffee and food. Good decoration and kind serving!!

The most beautiful cafe Ive ever seen. Surprising location on the side of the highway but it was seeing the odd building from the road that made me want to visit it.

Tasty food, though service can be quite slow when they're busy. The real drawcard is the setting! The art is incredible and integrates sculpture, mosiac, stained glass or painting into every surface of the place. There are a range of nooks and seating areas inside and outside. It's a magical place.

Great coffee , atmosphere and friendly staff ! A magical place to visit and loved the interior. It was great just being there looking at the art work and sculptures which are everywhere you look. Alot of hard work must have gone into the place . I'll be back with friends

I loved this ,exceptional organic food, fabulous creative surroundings,will always stop on my way north.I recommend any visitors do the same. make sure you can spare 20 mins as every meal is prepared lovingly for you! take a jacket in winter as parts of structure are open.

Lovely quirky cafe BUT during Covid when you have had a close call recently you need to ensure you have QR sign in codes at ALL entrances for customers, and not one at the counter where we struggled to get to it.

Well worth the visit! Amazing artistic flare and lots to marvel at whilst you're enjoying a meal and having a break.

Querky little cafe with some amazing mosaics and artwork. We ran inside trying to escape from the rain and so happy we did. I imagine it'll be a lot of fun in the summer especially. Really yummy homemade food and reasonably priced

A MUST visit!! For locals and tourists!! Pop in on your way north. (No need to stop in Wellsford) carry on to Kaiwaka. This cafe showcases some amazing artwork and creativity. Quirky alcoves, clever use of spaces, colourful surprises and hidden gems. Coffee and cakes are pretty good too!!!

Amazing place simply Utopia! Loved the art all inspired by NZ wildlife, trees, etc. Great coffee, eggs Benedict was a smaller portion than some places but still very tasty.

The place is amazing and so full of character ,only issue is menu isn't as good as venue and unfortunately no all day breakfast also food on the menu for lunch wasn't available but what was available was all good 😋 👌

Nice buildt, but service and food not up to the design. Buildt somewhat unfinished in back part. Overrated for my opinion, still worth a visit for a cofee.

Customer service was mixed. For that price, not great. They didn't offer menus, they don't give you cutlery, they didn't give us water. Expensive and food was average. Pizza base needed longer in oven.

A very unique place, but service isn’t good. Ordered some drinks - they were almost thrown onto our table (and somehow charged us for two coffees when we ordered one), ordered big pizza - didn’t get any plates.

visited cafe eutopia in october 2012 because it looked so interesting and we loved, coffee was great. had a look around as it was very different to any where else we had been, makes me smile everytime i look at the photos.

To be enchanted by fantastical sculptures through-out the structures and furniture and enjoy food with a slight Mediterranean leaning stop in and enjoy all the nooks and crannies in the massive Eutopia dream.
