Reviews of Seashore Cabaret
M.
Had brunch here recently. Went before the lunch rush (and glad we did because there was a really long line as we walked out) but it was still pretty busy. Nice views, a good selection on the menu and some great ambience inside make this a great place to eat. Staff are busy but had time to provide quality service. Would definitely return if I'm in the area.
L.
Our experience here was good. We came here at a very busy time so our order took a little while. We ordered the Trucker’s Breakfast and it was delicious so that made up for the waiting time as well as the view. It’s amazing. Will come back again 😆
T.
Absolutely love Seashore Cabaret, have been here a couple of times. Great atmosphere and lovely view, especially on a beautiful Wellington day. I just love their mushrooms - highly recommend them to any mushroom lovers out there! Would love to visit here again soon.
S.
What a quirky and different Cafe!! Really cool spot, right on the beach. Really cool decor, lovely staff and great coffee. Had a short stop there to top up my caffeine dose as I was heading to the late interislander. Next time I'm going back for lunch. 👌
e.
Fantastic food, staff and atmosphere. Expect a wait for a table, we waited about 20 minutes on the staircase but that's how you know it's good! Didn't feel rushed to order our meal or finish it, and we were told about the wait times straight away. Bonus is the layout is very spacious so you don't feel cramped, and we got a nice big booth for just the two of us. So many cool things to look at in the restaurant if you don't manage to get a ocean view seat. Will be back!
S.
We had a nice time here. The food was really good. I got the prawns and my partner the burger for lunch.
The soda was great too.
It's always busy but a fast turnover time and we didn't have to wait long for a table or our food.
Helpful friendly staff.
Only thing is it's very hot inside on a warm day.
H.
I was a little underwhelmed by my bacon butty, serving was tiny and the $5 extra for a couple of tablespoons of avocado and 2 slices of tomato was a bit cheeky. The eggs benedict dish was served with burnt sourdough and again the $5 side of avocado was so measly. Atmosphere and view is nice but not sure I’d return in a hurry for the queue and standard of the meals 😒
03.01.22 This time what we ordered was better. Hand cut fries are buttery and crunchy 😊
P.
Ok food, which took a long time to arrive!!
Salubrious ambience...... very noisy busy place!!
Nice friendly waitress!!
J.
Great place but unless you're spending 20 bucks on food it can be a bit lacking. My "halloumi butty" was literally 2 slices of fried bread and 2 smallish bits of halloumi. No other ingredients.
Z.
Great place with an amazing view. Good food. Had to wait for the table but was worth the wait.
A.
Great food, beautiful sea view if you can get a seat on the deck
N.
Food is always good. The snickers shakes are definitely worth it. Fresh pressed OJ is well a good cutter through fatty kai. Big breakfast is a good hearty dish, Bagels are delicious and not too heavy. Definitely prefer the chill vibes of a weekday than a weekend because it's not so busy.
정.
Nice view and nice food :-) I'm not a coffee expert but this coffees were little bitter and burn smell. I want try orange juice next time! That's real orange !
n.
Really like this place. It has a certain charm that really suits being beside the beach. Fantastic food and even more the coffees. I highly recommend this place. I can see why its always busy.
L.
So busy!! Staff do a great job with service considering the number of people who come here. Food was delicious, had a small issue with my order but was sorted graciously by staff in a matter of minutes. Would come again!
Z.
Lovely decor and tasty food! Good service even though it was quite busy!
B.
We have been here 4 or 5 times over the last year. Great atomosphere.
I've had the "truckers" steak twice now.
Tasty enough but there's more you can do with steak.
Menu offerings have been constant, burgers and a small selection of mains.
It would be good to see a more up beat selection.
Ok value for $.
I.
The food here is always so good!! Especially tonight, was served by an awesome team, Tyla and Kathleen especially onto it with allergies and made the best coffee I’ve had in forever. Thank you guys heaps, will always be back :)
U.
Love this place. Food is great service is immaculate. Milkshakes go hard. Would rate 10 stars if I could. Place is always busy which is testament to my review. Amazing spot
N.
Loved it although very hot there as it was a warm day and busy. Wonderful healthy vege bowl, tasted great. Coffee was lovely too. Friendly staff, fast service.
R.
Big plus from Russ. The food is excellent and good portions
K.
I love this place, yes there is a wait to get a table, yes there is a wait to get food during busy times (which is often). Well worth the wait! Amazing coffee, amazing food, friendly staff. Whenever an 'out of towner' asks what do I while in Wellington? Go to Seashore Cabaret! You will not regret it. Allow atleast 2 hours for the experience 😘 and a walk on the beach after. ⛱
D.
My first visit and meal. It was a lovely experience and the food was great. The staff were happy and helpful. Thank you for making this a great visit. I will be back
G.
We've tried several times to bring the kids here for lunch, but weekends are always busy, but for good reason. We finally made it in on a weekday trip to Petone and loved every bit.
The food was great and the portions more than adequate, even for items from the kid's menu. It was a highlight in our near-perfect day out.
Finishing up the visit, we had a great laugh at the carnival mirrors near the toilets. The boys cackled at each other for a solid ten minutes before I dragged them back to their scooters and outside.
E.
Great atmosphere, good views of the harbour, lovely staff, funky decor, and the food is great too. It's become a regular spot for us to stop in when we are in the area. They have an outdoor area, and you can take your dog there (outside) after a walk on the beach. My little one also loves it - there are ride on toys, pinball machines, fun house mirrors etc to make it an experience, not just a cafe.
s.
Had a great catch up with a friend I hadn't see for many years. Lots of talking and laughing but the best part was the staff didn't rush us. They were super chill. The food was fantastic, the coffee was perfect. The cakes looked amazing. I had the truckers breakfast and oh lordy it was huge.
H.
Food was above average, floor staff was kind but wait for food was long but I understand they were busy. Overall nice place with some views
V.
Good food. Can be quite busy do sometimes have to wait for a table. Curly fries are yum! And the snickers shake is the best!
M.
Great place. Lively, a good vibe, friendly staff, awesome food and coffee. (Also good to see a hospo venue with staff very COVID aware. Top marks).
A.
Nice breakfast and also get the nice landscape!coz here near the ocean, when you finish you can walk around and get the sunshie🤩
T.
For a catch lunch with my sister’s friends, we dined at Seashore Cabaret along The Esplanade in Petone.
The ambiance was electric with busing from full patron occupancy. We were fortunate to get a booth as a table was leaving. The interior is boat club smart casual with indoor to terrace seating overlooking the sea. Whilst we awaited everyone we order some salted stands, chocolate with malt and strawberry milkshakes. For the touch of nostalgia they were served metal cup to led the chill and they were thick and flavoursome!
For lunch we ordered bacon nutty with avocado and side mixed broccoli almond and couscous salad, tofu bowl and granola. The food was delicious and the service was good. I’d like to try other dishes off the menu and the cabinet selection was impressive. You can understand why this place is popular and caters to a broad demographic. Highly recommended!
C.
The long waits are understandable! Great atmosphere and Kai! Definitely recommend heading in early to ensure a table and minimal wait. The coffee is also A1! (They sell whole beans too!)
N.
Satisfied with what I got - iced coffee with the mussels and prawn dishes.
Had a bite of the pancakes. Just gonna say that that's not the selling point of the place.
Really liked the deco there.
S.
First time here. Really liked the vibe. Retro look inside and nice view on the outside. Food was very good. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will be coming back.
F.
Service of staff was fantastic, sides and juices are good. The mains we order was not satisfying to our liking maybe. Brisket and fish dishes. Overall, we love the place. 👍
元.
Friendly staff and amazing food highy recommend
Fish taco, does tend to get quite messy tho
C.
Get a table on the deck if you can or enjoy the retro quirky decor inside. Either way, you won’t be disappointed. Great menu, staff and service with reasonable prices. The place is busy on weekends and deserves to be. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior. I suspect the locals want to keep this place for themselves. Lucky I know one who took me here. You’ll be going back at any opportunity.
S.
Great food with good presentation and quality ingredients. The coffee was fine, and the iced chocolates the rest of my party got were great.
Could do with some acoustic panelling. It was pretty loud!
B.
Wow! Lovely cafe with great views and friendly staff. Food excellent. Good choices available.
D.
Enjoyed the meal, it was two Bay Burgers for the price of one, this happens every Thursday. Arrived at 6:45pm there was no delay to be seated. Staff were both polite and professional, excellent level of service. Drinks and garlic bread came out in quick order followed by the main (Bay Burgers). They serve beer, wine and cocktails as well as milkshakes and coffee. They have a kids menu and highchairs for the little ones. For after meal entertainment they have a few old school pinball games. Note access is via a flight of steps so not wheelchair friendly. Parking is available off street and roadside. I will definitely be going back for the truckers breakfast. Prices are reasonable.
D.
Enjoyed my pancake stack here. Lovely. Huge stack for the price. Worth it. The staff that were on at the time were helpful, friendly and polite. Nice views of the harbour. Really like the decor. Definitely recommend for breakfast, lunch anytime. Thanks everyone! 🙂👍
L.
We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner... all three times, everything was GREAT! Friendly service, food didn’t take long and tasted delicious, and the venue decoration is cool.
P.
Super chill service, food was really prompt and super yummy...
However, my order failed to be gluten and dairy free by request, and am now dealing with my allergies after unknowingly eating my meal ):
Please please be careful with dietary requests !! I am lucky I am not coeliac or in any serious danger for eating wheat and dairy (although now I feel very ill)
I did otherwise enjoy my experience, if I come back I will definitely be more cautious when ordering...
J.
Really nice place, quirky and cool decor, a big balcony with a view of Petone beach and the ocean. The food was really good too. The starter was salt n pepper squid rings, which were homemade and well cooked. We had burgers for main, fish and chicken, they were both really tasty and they even had hand cut chips.
The selection of beer was also decent and the prices all reasonable for what you get.
J.
One of my fav places to get brunch!!
J.
Quite noisy with quite loud music playing when we visited. Unable to enjoy my eggs bene as the bread was too over grilled but a nice outlook on a sunny day from the small outdoor deck area
M.
Excellent brunch menu choices and an even better range of drinks. Even the basics are great options with good coffee and delicious freshly squeezed juice (of which we were offered a litre, which while tempting, I thought was overly optimistic). We were seated just inside the deck on an extremely windy day so received a fine coating of sand but luckily none of it made its way into our meals. The staff were all very friendly and on leaving, the cabinet food was irresistible so we nabbed a zesty date scone for later.
N.
This place is so great! We've been twice with friends and each time the food has been absolutely delicious, the service has been stunning, and the coffee has been wonderful! It does get quite busy on weekends, so often there has been a wait. It's in a gorgeous location, beautiful views (outdoor seating, weather permitting, is a must!) Check out the delicious cabinet food too!!
W.
Wowee awesome first up experience. Great food and pricing, service was polite, professional and fast.
I will be back, also love the view and vibe 👍
G.
Great atmosphere, lovely staff, nice food ! Always a pleasure going there
B.
Whenever I fly back home from Australia I always stop here for breakfast with my family.
You're always guaranteed fresh ingredients and smooth strong coffee. The decor and atmosphere makes this place unique and the view overlooking Petone beach makes me feel at home.
Highly recommend!!
R.
Great food. Excellent coffee. Really awesome service and views over the bay. Quirky NZ cafe for breakfast and lunch. Dog friendly and serves bacon butters! What more could one want!
Great salads and cakes for takeaway as well. Def a return spot. quite noisy inside if your hard of hearing but a dozen tables out on the deck.
C.
Food and service here is amazing! Definite hot spot for locals!
N.
I had the most delicious salad I've ever had from here, smoked salmon with all sorts of yummy surprises through it - highly recommend! Great service, good vibes and good food
S.
Great food, lovely view and amazing service. Very on point decor, trendy to the max
L.
Lovely atmosphere, great ambience, delicious food! The entrance looks like there's nothing around going on but once you step inside and head up, it's a whole different world altogether! Whimsical and even has pinball machines.
Our favorites were the halloumi sandwich and potato salad. Super delicious!
P.
Absolutely fantastic hidden place. Would have never found it without google. Friendly, efficient and forthcoming staff. Great location and views. Very busy place. Coffee and breakfast was delicious. Interior is really cool
K.
Such a great place. Best salmon I have ever tasted. Coffee wasn't my favourite but still good. 10/10 atmosphere. Loved the carnival, 50s America feel.
Y.
This is my new favourite spot. Beautiful cafe with a view. One of the best iced coffee in town.
T.
I love the look of this spot and really want to rate it higher... But on our first visit the staff and food let us down. We'll be back soon to see whether things have improved, because the retro carnival theme and American diner style settings are top notch! (Edit: a much improved second visit, will be back.)
K.
If you have time to wait for a table (30mins) and then another 40 mins for your food order then sure come here.
It’s definitely a popular spot with amazing views and quirky interior.
Food was ok. Filled a gap but not something I would rush back for when it’s a busy weekend.
G.
Delicious meals - great atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
H.
I didn’t realise Seashore Cabaret was open for dinner and wasn’t surprised to see the atmosphere continue into the night. Great place for almost all occasions. Had the fish burger - it was so full of delicious flavours! Will definitely be back for dinner.
X.
Pancakes were really fluffily and indulging, chips were really crispy outside and soft inside. View is also pretty nice (sea view)
G.
Delicious meals with such good portions! Obviously very busy it’s that good so being able to sit at a table outside was perfect to save waiting for a table inside. Tempeh bowl, nachos, fish butty, avocado & haloumi on toast. Yum
J.
Waited in queue but it was worth it, wait staff super friendly, informed us about the wait and meal preparation time before seating us. Food was good, nice scenery and very old school carnival feel to the place. A definite recommendation.
J.
Very lovely place. Food is delicious at a very good price and has a wonderful view of the ocean and city if Wellington.
J.
It's a great Wellington spot but be prepared to queue for a table and access via many stairs not suitable for some. Food and coffee excellent and there is counter food if you can't wait for the dishes from the kitchen. It's busy and loud if you love that vibe! But a spectacular view of Wellington Harbour and the city, old school amusement rides and pinball machines make this popular with families. Great coffee!
J.
Always my go to.
Wicked atmosphere and setting. Lovely service, good food and reasonably priced
S.
Loved their coffee but got frustrated when waited for 30 minutes in the queue and was told no payment could be accepted with ANZ cards. And of course no cash on us for a beach walk on a nice day. Really frustrating 😔
S.
This is the most amazing place. The entire atmosphere is fab and so original. Even the chairs are one of a kind. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. But the best is the milkshakes. So many flavors to choose from and mega yummy. The coffee is also apparently amazing, but who wants coffee if you can have milkshake🤗 . They have a small menu, but what they make is amazeballs. Definitely worth a visit.
A.
Always good to be back here. Great ambiance be it morning or evening. Friendly staff and food is always delish. And of course, great sea view.
S.
Awesome enjoyed menu, atmosphere, service excellent staff very open chatty and friendly
Bloomin awesome coffee from in house brands
Great fun for kids with pinball machines
F.
Visited this place while on holiday for a weekend, and will be back here in the future. Always seems to be a queue down the stairs, so avoid the busy peak times. We went around 10am and there were just a couple of groups ahead of us. The booths near the back don’t get the same view as near the windows, but contribute to the seaside diner atmosphere. Casual and fun place for amazing food.
N.
All around good place... great atmosphere. Food vs price could either improve quality or lower cost.
E.
Nice cosy place. Very chill and casual. Does get busy, so be ready to wait and good luck finding parks. Food appeared stacked to the brim and tasted quite nice.
C.
Good atmosphere and great good. We went on the two for one burgers night held every Thursday. Well worth a visit.
S.
From the outside you would never imagine the fabulous interior. Best view ever. Food good. Would definitely go again.
E.
Lovely upstairs atmosphere, views overlooking the beach and plenty of room for a family gathering.
This place is very popular and there's plenty of reasons why.
Very friendly and enjoyable staff, delicious food and a fun environment.
Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is it is a bit more pricey then other similar cafes/food.
Overall highly recommended.
Plenty of Lime scooters in the area to play on as an added bonus
R.
Loved the vibe, loved the view & loved my pancakes. For families with bubs, don't bother with a pram... There's no lift and it's on the first level. So hang 'em on your hip and hike up the stairs and you'll be rewarded with great food, fun ambience and seriously good pancakes!
G.
Fantastic food and environment. Seaview from most of the tables close to the window. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
C.
Amazing food and drinks. Great friendly service. Never disappoints!
C.
Love it, staff great, food excellent, but queues too long and it's always crowded
M.
Good place - nice atmosphere - don’t trust the coffee Counter
C.
Pretty cool. Great view! Good cocktails!
S.
This is the most amazing place. The entire atmosphere is fab and so original. Even the chairs are one of a kind. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. But the best is the milkshakes. So many flavors to choose from and mega …

T.
Really good eggs B! Good service. Not very spacious and not kid friendly.
k.
Friendly staff good food prices
V.
Food was amazing!! Fast service. Awesome decor. Dogs allowed.
G.
Great food. Huge queue to get in though
R.
Great food. Excellent coffee. Really awesome service and views over the bay. Quirky NZ cafe for breakfast and lunch. Dog friendly and serves bacon butters! What more could one want! …
M.
Oh wow, food, coffee, atmosphere inside/outside, vibes, sit, takeaway......got it all
I.
Great quirky spot on the waterfront. Very friendly staff, meals came out promptly and were delicious!
S.
Love this place. Food is excellent, tasty and great value. Have been twice now. Service was awesome the first time. Second time we felt like we were almost forgotten. Had to flag down staff to order more coffee but aside from that was really good.
Best to get there early if you are going for breakfast as a queue develops quickly.
K.
Food is always good here. Very busy at the weekend but there is good reason for that. The staff are always honest about wait times. Great 2 for 1 offer on Tuesday moorings.
D.
loved the busy vibe... happy retro space with heaps of funky old vintage pieces. Loved the old wooden beams in the ceiling. Food was great.
A.
Only thing I don't love. About this place is that it's always busy. Ala carte menu and service are great. Cabinet food always a treat on the eyes and tastebuds. The orange juice is as good as you an get. PSA to all the tall people. To be sure to watch your head on the stairway.
M.
Magnificent themed restoration of such a historic venue. Wonderfully vegan friendly but their bacon can ruin veganism. Absolutely gorgeous coffees and their own Good Fortune Coffee roastery. This is one of the best Cafe experiences in Wellington. Queuing here is a right of passage.
J.
Love eating on the deck enjoying the view , with our dog welcome to be there. Great service and food.
M.
Great atmosphere and great service coffee and food.
J.
Brilliant place, great atmosphere, fabulous views over Wellington Harbour, I had the double cheeseburger...excellent!
V.
Food was amazing!! Fast service. Awesome decor. Dogs allowed.
m.
Love everything about this place. The coffee, the food, the people. It's casual yet classy.
J.
Typical cafe food, nothing special at all. Coffee is decent and staff typically does their job satisfactorily.
The donuts downstairs are garbage. DO NOT get the donuts. We've tried them a few times and they have always been very old (by hours) and not fresh. These are the sort of donuts that are deep fried. When they aren't fresh, they are hard and dense. Totally not a good treat!
V.
Nice to drop in ... very dog and child friendly. Does not seem to be accessible for wheelchair /prams ? Is based up a flight of stairs.
A.
Great service, tasty food, lovely coffee and the most superb location, happily come here again. House smoked salmon was delicious.
G.
Great food and service thanks, good for families too
P.
Fantastic place, great food, good beer, great views of the harbour. What more do you need on a sunny Friday afternoon.
A.
Excellent food. Efficient and friendly staff.
T.
Really good eggs B! Good service. Not very spacious and not kid friendly.
T.
SUPER busy and you can't book a table, but it's absolutely worth the wait..
- great service
- amazing food (the eggs bene are fabulous)
- cool decor
V.
I've never seen this place NOT busy so if you can, book your table in advance. It's a stylish café with amazing views of the harbour, both indoor and outdoor seating available. They're also open when the other places close (3-5 PM) and they still serve warm meals although more on the deep fried, snack/bar food side of things.
A.
Great food and great service
Also thanks for making sure to follow the covid19 protocols
B.
Great food and great atmosphere. It's always buzzing.
S.
Just an amazing combo of great coffee, counter food and that view
R.
Loved the food. The best smoked salmon. Also great butter milk pancakes. A very interesting place with load's of great old fashion memorable art and things on the walls. Great service. Highly recommend this place if in town.
J.
Delicious food with an arty beautiful environment.
K.
We like this cafe because of the hustle and bustle and consistently friendly wait staff. The milkshakes are a hit because they seem right out of my childhood as are the generous cheesy scones. The cafe's offerings change to keep customer's interest piqued and the sweet treats have a modern twist to them. It's so good to find not the usual slices. This cafe can be very busy during week ends and school holidays because it offers generous seating in booths which keep kids corralled with parents and the character filled interior has lots to occupy the eye. Good coffee, really good food, twisty fries and busy busy busy with a terrific view of the beach and harbour.
A.
A great restaurant by the sea in Lower Hutt. Awesome view of Wellington's landscape, and great deck. The staff members are friendly, the food are good.
J.
The lady who greeted is was nice but our server barely said anything to us. My salmon bagel was really bland. It's definitely somewhere you go just for the view and kitsch decor.
S.
Always a great place to kick back! Great food and service!
N.
I live this place. It's kiwi with a funky diner like twist. The food is always great, coffee prefectly made and the service is always on point. It's nice to walk into a place and see the staff are enjoying there jobs and always smiling. I go here once a week min, weather it's for breakfast or just coffee. That's for thw great experience!!
C.
Beautiful coffee. Generous breakfast portions. Lovely place.
B.
Great burgers and homemade chips, with a good larger on a hot day at Petone beach, what more could you ask for. Staff really friendly, Cheers Team
M.
Tasty, reasonable quick, very helpful with requests.
L.
Stranger to this area. Outside gave a maybe not so good impression. However - once we got in - fantastic food ambience and service.
J.
Amazing food and view. Loved the pancakes. How they should be made. Thankyou!
M.
Fantastic food to be hard here, awesome coffee and atmosphere! If going on a weekend, get in by 9am or wait for a table. Delish!!
M.
Oh wow, food, coffee, atmosphere inside/outside, vibes, sit, takeaway......got it all
I.
A vibrant, modern cafe in an industrial style. Very popular and you may have to queue in peak times. Not the most comfortable chairs but they fit the ambience of the place. Some booths and a few balcony seats in good weather. A great view of the harbour too.
R.
First time visit. Very busy but got a table fast. Staff are awesome and friendly. Food is very tasty and orange juice is amazing. Not a huge wait for our meals the view of the water front helps pass the time. Highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be going back.
R.
This place - on the second floor - had queues to get in! The staff were friendly and prompt. I had mussels - not huge but 12 in a white wine sauce with toasted chibata bread. They were beautiful! Amazing views out over the beach from the second floor up. Unique!
G.
Excellent food, not a long wait, staff are friendly.
G.
Great food. Huge queue to get in though
O.
Fabulous food. Great spot. Super friendly staff
G.
Good range. Yummy food. Good service. Great view. Decently priced.
Pictured is the goodness bowl. Amazing!
B.
Really friendly staff, great service and good food! Quite busy but luckily we got seated right away. Cool retro style decor!
A.
Food is brilliant and reasonably priced. Very very noisy, had to get outside to talk to our guests.
S.
Nice food, good price and beautiful views of the sea. Recommended
C.
Visited during the quiet time, which meant the place was only 90% full :)
They do fantastic shakes, and their meals are always top quality, plus their coffee is also quite good too.
We had a slight mix up with our order, but was no problem to resolve, the staff are friendly, and as fast as they can be.
Always happy to return.
S.
Very nice restaurant enjoy the food and the view service was good and attentive. Food quality was high and price was fair.Would highly recommend.
I.
Good find in Petone. Had mussels, steak and eggs, and pancakes with curly fries. Everything we had was done well by the kitchen. Can't wait to try them for dinner!
L.
Great place to meet friends or have a little something on your own. Fabulous view of Petone beach with a buzzy atmosphere. Food and coffee are great. Very friendly staff but you may have to wait for a table as this is a very popular place.
S.
Love the busy vibe here, and eclectic mix of stuff on display, have been a few times. Find staff really good, which makes for a return trip. Good selection of snacks, meals and cabinet food.
V.
Even if you don’t live or frequent in lower hutt, this place is worth a drive to spend an afternoon. The food is very tasty, the staff is extremely friendly and the views are hard to beat! We bring the dog here after a dip at the beach often and it’s always a good time.
G.
Amazing set up! Beautifully done up! Favorite café to visit.
D.
Great location with a nice scenic view of the Wellington Harbour. Quick and efficient service as always. Food quality is top notch and the staff are honest and friendly.
T.
Very cool setting (on the inside) & very good Good Fortune Coffee Co coffee, but there is better coffee in Lower Hutt
O.
Well worth the Sunday queue on the stairs on the way in. Seashore Caberet has the best decor, vies and food in Petone! Sides are generous, coffee great and service is excellent.
L.
Had a great time here, good vibe, retro and rustic feel to the place. Will be coming back ❤️
G.
Always a family favourite for dinner out. Food is great, service is friendly and the kids love the pinballs - they can have fun (read - be a bit noisy) without grumpy looks from other diners. They had a special beer on for Fathers Day which was cool.
C.
Good food and service. Just surprised that as roasters and purveyors of beans they cannot make a long black with a decent crema.
J.
Good food. Friendly admosfear. Enjoy every time.
T.
Great place for atmosphere and service. Love the view and the pinball machines. The food has always been good, and service quick and friendly. Have only been in on weekdays.
C.
Lovely place. Popular too.
C.
Good service although I thought the food options were minimal and same same
M.
Great ambience, food, craft beers and sea views
C.
The atmosphere is the amazing! Coffee is very good. Food was good, but I preferred the eggs benny elsewhere.
L.
Delicious food. Nice atmosphere. Good coffee. Great views.
R.
Great coffee and great food, service is always spot on too
A.
Must be good, I was there yesterday and today. Food is always fresh with good portion sizes. Coffee is roasted in house which adds to the experience if your into that. Personal favorite has to be getting the Salted Caramel Milkshake!
C.
What a fun place to go for brunch. The vegetarian big breakfast was amazing, particularly the smoked tomato, very memorable! Staff friendly and attentive. You cannot book, but definitely worth queuing for. We'll go back soon.
L.
Great service and beautiful food, highly recommended 👌
K.
Been here a couple of times. Their smoothies and milkshakes are super tasty and a great price. I love the art, style and atmosphere of this place and I always feel good knowing the staff are being paid living wage! :)
A.
My new favourite place for breakfast in Wellington. Quirky decor and something intriguing for everyone.
R.
Great Cafe with an awesome atmosphere. Food was yummy. We had a bit of a wait so they offered a free drink. Excellent customer service.
G.
Great coffee and the scones were yummy
N.
Had an excellent family brunch here today. Staff are very friendly and attentive without being in your face. There was a 30 minute wait for food, which they told us about before we sat down. But there’s lots of yummy counter food for fast eats and plenty to keep the family entertained...pinball machines, coin rides.
Will visit again.
A.
One of my favourite places to go, amazing food, always fresh and yum. Great vegetarian options, & coffee is to die for. I love their eggs bene, one of the best around! They also have a nice outdoor seating area overlooking the ocean which is nice on the right day.
P.
Friendly staff and perfect spot to enjoy what felt like the first day of summer in Wellington. Dog friendly too.
R.
Excellent service and food, definitely will go again!!!
F.
Very interesting theme and decor including old pinball machines and a stunning view by the beach. Food was decent and service was quick. Love the old style vintage look of the place!
C.
Delicious food. Usually abit of a wait for a table but well worth it.
E.
Delicious food, great service, really nice atmosphere both inside and out.
Finding a park out the front can be tricky as this place is very popular! The goodness bowl is amazing
a.
A spacious, friendly & busy cafe with very nice food and a view over the Petone beach and Wellington harbour.
S.
The place was great. The waiting line was amazingly long, so you need to get there 10 minutes or so before you want to will be able to get a table.. We were lucky that Catherine was the first to arrive and get us a table. The food was great and we had a great view of the ocean. You can have an inside or outside table. The atmosphere was great, lots of help and best of all the water was free.
C.
After a long wait in the stairwell. We made it to the top and front of the queue to be then advised it was a 40 minute wait for menu food or we could get cabinet food.
It would have been nice to have been advised of this further down the stairs, we opted for cabinet food only to be greeted by a sparse cabinet, with 2 items to choose from, so we ended up ordering off the menu as by this stage it was 1pm.
The squid was cooked prefectly and just needed a little more seasoning. The halomi and beetroot bagel was lovely.
M.
Love the vibe. Excellent food and delicious coffee. It's cool you can see the roasting equipment for their coffee too. Love the pinball machines. Highly recommended.
k.
Friendly staff good food prices
C.
This is the best restaurant of its type I have been to. It has heaps of atmosphere, with a lot of retro decorations, pinball machines, and a really ugly carousel horse light.
The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is magnificent, the burgers are the best I have had. The fish was excellent. We'll be back
A.
Loved the atmosphere of this place! Very unique decor which made it very fun. The burger I had was delicious, not covered in grease, and very filling! And the key lime pie was amazing!! One downside was their “cocktails” list was just rum and coke, vodka and bitters.. just very basic wouldn’t call them cocktails. Would definitely recommend this place still though.
D.
Excellent table service marvelous seashore view and you don't have to go outside to view this beautiful scenery definitely recommend a look if you're passing by
E.
Fantastic place. Really cool interior, nice staff and delicious food. Highly recommend if you're in Petone!
S.
Steak was really good and really thick. Chips were well above average. Price was good. Service was quick and friendly. Toilet was clean. Really hated the coca cola brand available. But we would definitely go back.
A.
Great experience, I love the truckers breakfast! Cool name too. If you are a bit older it's quite echoey and hard to hear the conversation. Sound dampers would be good 👍
J.
Fantastic atmosphere, food, coffee. Discovered almost by accident while visiting Petone; will be the go-to place when return.
J.
Such a cool interior , amazing food options, beverages, friendly staff and awesome view. One of the best spots in wellington for sure :)
G.
the place is convenient because it's near the beach, just ordinary food
M.
It was a lovely sunny day, the view from the Cafe was stunning 🙂
S.
Great place. View of Wellington Harbour is beautiful, and there is beach access. The menu is fairly standard, but well executed. Staff are very helpful. We had our wedding reception there a few years ago,it's changed hands a few times but always good
Z.
The experience in the Seashore cabaret was 5 five stars, the staff would earn the extra star's due to the warm and friendly atmosphere they provided, the food is a star on its own, the view over the bay, like I said to my partner, reminds me of "Summer bay, home n away" without the waves, love it, I'm from South Auckland and would love a Seashore in Auckland that would make it a superstar review in my book's
Nga mihi.
N.
Great place overlooking Wellington harbour . Beautiful on a sunny day to sit on the balcony , order a milk shake and soak in the sun. Dog allowed on outdoor balcony which is awesome if you take your dog to Petone dog beach then up for a drink after .
Staff friendly and food great . Can’t believe we had never been here before .
D.
Seashore Cabaret has excellent food, great coffee and marvellous view of the harbour.
I'm thrilled they allow pets (as long as you sit at a table on the deck) because I'd just taken my cat for her yearly checkup.
Sandy was wearing her harness and sat on my lap until my poached eggs on toast arrived.
T.
Came in for lunch today 13/09/2019 and was absolutely amazed by the popularity of the cafe. The dining room was "buzzing" with conversation, warm, and inviting. The staff were pleasant, and hospitable with a great smile for their patrons. The meals were beautifully presented, and the smell was so appetizing. Today I had the Soup of the Day which was a lovely thick hearty green pea, and mint soup served with a side of toasted crusty bread, while my friend had the eggs Benedict, which I quietly coverted but completely forgot about after tasting the my wonderful meal. If you are looking for a place to eat I urge you to stop into the Seashore Cabaret I'm sure you won't regret it.
j.
A bit disappointed in the fact that there are less vegetarian or vegan options available now compared to when I had last visited. Still what is available is good and there is a wide variety of meat and fish options available which I've heard good things about. The service is decent, however they were a bit too quick to take our plates. The fact that there is on site parking is nice and the views are quite nice as well. I'd definitely reccomend Seashore Cabaret to anyone wanting to grab a casual dinner.
b.
Great funky cafe with excellent staff and views
S.
Amazing find! Quirky retro cafe restaurant with fabulous food. The burgers and hand cut fries are outstanding, and the market fish was sublime. Add to that the key lime pie, and apple and rhubarb pie for dessert, it's one of the nicest meals we've had for a while. Keen to come back and try the breakfast and lunch menus!
N.
Fantastic food selection and really great coffee. Only problem with this place is that it's often completely packed out. The acoustics aren't great so when it's full you can barely hear yourself think. Great views of the beach if you can get a window seat.
W.
I waited for a table without a booking in Father's Day, with a full house we were seated in 12 minutes and they even took our orders while we were in line so when we got seated at our table our meals arrived in 8 minutes. The milkshakes were large and thick the food tasty and nicely cooked. A winning experience.
M.
Great environment. Food takes forever to come out. We are local and keep coming back though one of the only places open early.
H.
Loved Loved! Yummy food, fabulous coffee, great atmosphere, stunning veiw of the ocean :) it was a busy Friday and we only waited 5 min for a table and only 30 mins for our food ;) will be coming back. Get your fortune told!!
T.
Cool place. Great staff. The cajun chicken burger was not as good as I expected. I could not taste the cajun spices and chicken was a bit fatty. There seemed to be more bacon than chicken. My wife was very happy with the vegetarian burger
A.
First time here. Really liked the vibe. Food was very good. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will be coming back. Note that it's very busy so may have a wait time to be seated
T.
Great cafe with loads of options from either the menu or cabinet food. Extremely popular so ensure you get there earlier unless you enjoy waiting. Fast and efficient service.
A.
30mins wait time for starters. Further 30mins for mains. The pinball machines provided a distraction from hunger pangs. Staff were accommodating and pleasant.
J.
Food was ok but less than expected for all the comments regarding this place.
However the set up and lovely deckwas very good.
Staff were excellent.
D.
Gets better the more you go, always great
j.
I love the sense of stylish kitch, backed up by great food, friendly service and fab view. Always a favourite
J.
Breakfast menu is great here!! Lots of yummy food and drinks. Great atmosphere! Line for a table can be long in weekends, we always visit on weekdays now. Our waitress was super awkward and uninterested, but we have had great service here on previous visits 😊
J.
Yet another great visit to Seashore Cabaret. The food here is always yummy, drinks arrive quickly and never disappoint. What I want to know is their secret for training their staff, they come to your table at the perfect time, are friendly and get the job done fast. Not like the usual helicopters you find at other places, but you aren't ignored either. Honestly you just can't ask for better service. I'll be back again!
A.
Lovely staff and service, definitely going back again
K.
Great environment. Great vibes and great food. Service is fast and the staff are very good and make it easy to have a fun time. The booths are excellent for a small group (we had seven!). The statue of Mary is a classic 😃
J.
Nice food and great service. Wait staff were very helpful and attentive, coming back at regular intervals to check in on us. They were also very proactive, asking if we wanted aioli with our meal, and arranging this promptly. The food itself was freshly prepared and tasty. A perfect spot to grab a meal with friends while enjoying the picturesque views of the water. Above all, the fantastic service deserves special recognition.
M.
A quick visit on a Sunday evening was great. This was my second time there and this time I had their Wellington on a plate burger which is a roast belly pork concoction, lovely. The staff have always been friendly and I would recommend giving the place a go.
F.
Great food and atmosphere
S.
With an awesome interior and great style, this is a place worth a visit, whether you're coming from Wellington or elsewhere.
The food is very good and arrives reasonably quickly, and they have great coffee.
If you go during the day expect a bit of a wait since there aren't any reservations and it's a busy place.
There is outside seating upstairs and booths with long tables if you have a group, but if there's a lot of you (more than 6) be mindful you probably won't be able to sit together.
A.
Food was fab, and it was a fab day when you have views like this...
m.
Great spot to go to in Summer. Huge vista over the harbour. Very popular joint but it's run like clockwork so it usually doesn't take long even when there are larger queues to get seated. If you love retro styling or playing pinball you'll be in your element here. Salted caramel thickshake - divine! Fries also awesome. Staff friendly and helpful. Definitely a must visit if you're in the Hutt/Petone - and worth the trip out from Wellington.
R.
Great spot, great food, great staff. If your around the area you will not be disappointed.
B.
Absolutely wonderful cafe with a fun and unique atmosphere, warm and friendly staff, and tasty food and drinks (definitely recommend their thick shakes which are HUGE and absolutely DELICIOUS)! It’s right by the water with a gorgeous view of Petone Beach from the balconies! I’ve had to bring many of my friends here to introduce them to my favourite restaurant in the Wellington Region!
A.
I had some nice food but my burger was a bit slow and everyone else had got theirs while I was still waiting. They were probably quite busy at the time but it was still a little disappointing. Other than that it was really nice and rustic which was cool. Good spot.
J.
Great food, friendly staff, excellent service, lovely atmosphere.. Ljiljana
N.
Really enjoyed it. Myself and wife had the Vege Breakfast and loved it. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even with a full house of customers wanting food. Definitely recommend.
J.
Love everything about this place. Meals on Sunday evening were delish. And the meringue we shared. Out of this world. Great to be back here after 7 weeks. Matt and co. Uve bounced back better than ever🌻
S.
Good coffee, atmosphere and lovely cake cabinet. Wish they did the doughnuts from downstairs!
E.
I love the food here and sitting out and watching sunset outside, great place to eat if your in petone after a walk on the beach!
R.
Been to this establishment quite a lot, good atmosphere, good service and food is always consistent. Also good views of Wellington.
A.
One of the best places in Petone. Absolutely love this place have been going their for a couple of years now. The staff are fantastic and never fail to look after their customers. The food is brilliant, the place itself is fun and the atmosphere great. You get some amazing views of the harbour as well at sunset just overall a lovely place we like to visit each week
P.
Another beautiful New Zealand gem. Very popular but luckily, I went there before the crowd started. I went in early, had my breakfast and was astonished to see the queue waiting to get in when I was leaving. Good staff, good food and a great atmosphere.
M.
Very busy! Full of noisy kids, unfortunately it's the school holidays! Food was good but slow. We were there for breakfast. Obviously very popular with families.
M.
Beautiful meal, lovely service and good value for money. It's very popular so be prepared to wait, but it's worth it
B.
Just LOVE this place. Always a wait for a table but it's never long. The staff are amazing and always friendly even when they're rushed off their feet. Food is AMAZING and they're always accommodating for weird food issues. Keep up the good work!
S.
Yummy food but pretty meh service. Had brunch there and wasn't told that there will a wait on food so ended waiting for about 50mins for food, chasing it up with waitress and they keeps giving out excuses saying that it's coming and it's not too long. Ended up getting food about 20mins later. It was yummy though.
D.
Awesome coffee, awesome kai (food) and awesome peeps working there.
P.
I enjoyed our experience there. Food and service was quite good. Gets very busy at certain times and can be quite noisy however the place does have character. Would eat there again and would recommend :) my only gripe is the smell of old cooking oil at the entrance from the donut stand downstairs, this does not give you a good impression when entering the place.
S.
As usual great food ambiance and service. Lucky to get a booth seat! Had the fish~ tacos, very satisfying and cute with homemade fish fingers. Then had the apple and rhubarb pie~ not too tart.
A.
I always have a lovely meal here there is always a queue but not for long they know how to get things moving. You can even take the dog but sit outside. Prices are very reasonable. This was not my first visit and it won't be my last.
B.
Love this place! Fantastic coffee, food, and service with a smile. Would highly recommend. At busy times there is usually a small queue but trust me, it’s worth the wait.
J.
Have been here quite a few times - the food and vibe are always good. Great place to catch up with friends over brunch or dinner. Thursday night 2-for-1 burgers is awesome value!
P.
Food good coffee not value for money
B.
My first visit and we'll definitely be going back. I can't believe we didn't know about this treasure before. Great food for both adults and children. Great coffee and a fantastic view our over the Petone beach!
A.
Coffee and food was pretty good but I have to say the customer service was immaculate. Will definitely be going back to try more of the menu.
A.
Awesome place! Amazing brunch!
M.
I always love coming here when we visit Wellington.
The atmosphere is so charming with its unique coffee bar and vintage collectables, it's always a treat for the eyes as you wait for your food.
The menu is well crafted and the food never fails to disappoint. I always go for a pomegranate soda float to start with and on this visit I had the salmon bagel which was lovely and not too filling unlike a lot of other breakfast options.
My coffee loving brother likes the coffee there and him and my husband both ordered one of the big breakfasts on offer which they thoroughly enjoyed. I also added a side of curly fries for us to snack on and as always they were delicious.
Service is always lovely and friendly, and our total came up to $70-80.
J.
Good food great atmosphere
E.
Me and my boyfriend come here on special occasions for breakfast as we love the decor and the food too! It can get really busy but it's worth the wait, staff are friendly and on the ball, I've never had a bad experience with these guys, not too expensive either
C.
Delicious food, fast and friendly service
D.
Worth a short wait to be seated. There are plenty of interesting photos to look at as you inch your way into the cafe. Lovely view over the sea. Food and service very good.
D.
Very popular at lunch time, I was with 3 other adults and 3 children, we all enjoyed our lunch there.
C.
Avery busy place even at level 2. Food and coffee ☕ are always great. The wait staff do a great job and are very busy
S.
Awesome vibe and atmosphere
M.
Proper café food, theres some real chefs in there ! Even the kids menu is homemade stuff... Great views and atmosphere too.
D.
This is something special. Quirky interiors, great breakfast options, staff who love their job and get paid the living wage. And on a sunny day, sit outside and take in the amazing view of the harbour and Welly sparkling with your dog right next to you. Doesn't get much better!
P.
Best flat white in the Hutt.
Really nice cabinet food & even better from the menu. Super friendly staff who are always welcoming.
Coffee beans are Super !!
Yes best flat white in the Hutt by far
P.
Good coffee and very good food. Service can be a bit rushed, probably as they are always busy.
P.
Quite a noisy but vibrant place. The nachos were lovely service pleasant without being too in your face. The craft beer and wine was well received will go again maybe in the evening
D.
Great service. I'm celiac and they were good at explaining that chips may contain gluten because of the oil, I was ok with this. They were very busy as the line was out the door but everyone was working as a team which was good to see. I would recommend this place such a great atmosphere. We were told 20mins for our meals and it was way under that
J.
Always great food and coffee! Well worth the wait on a busy Sunday lunchtime service
N.
Best coffee beans and hot chocolates in town. I don’t buy anywhere else.
P.
The outside doesn't do the Cabaret justice. But once inside the layout and decor is quirky and the food and coffee excellent, with decent meals that will fill a bloke at a reasonable price. Only about 20 minutes from downtown Wellington, it's definitely worth a drive to Petone to try it out. We visited on a cold and very windy day, but the views really round out the experience.
C.
The meals were great. I was very pleased they had vegetarian options and gluten free
M.
Like all the best places I had no idea this place existed until a mate invited me there for lunch.
I had heard that it was run by the same people that have Maranui and Aunt Sally's Diamond Deli, and it definitely has the same feel, which is awesome.
There was a bit of a wait for lunch, but so much to look at it spead by :)
Large, noisy, and awesome. And on a stormy day a glorious active view.
The food, coffee, service was all most excellent.
B.
Good Breeakfast.
M.
Awesome place to eat at for catch ups. Lovely decor and fantastic food. They have a 2 for 1 menu on breakfast every Tuesday morning which i take full advantage of.
Wait staff could be a bit more attentive to your needs.
Y.
My all-time favourite in Wellington. Great food, good service, killer vibe & a pretty unbeatable location. Be prepared for a wait, but (pro tip) remember you can often skip this with yummy cabinet food.
S.
Loved this place, no queue for brekky on Friday morning, another example of simple but really delicious food
T.
Fantastic service with amazingly high food standards.
Coffee to die for!
Scenery that stimulates the senses, a stunning view no matter the weather, and a dish for any fussy eater!
10/10
C.
Food and service were pretty decent. Keep in mind this place can get pretty busy during peak times...when we left, the queue was nearly out the door! It's clearly worth the wait!
r.
This place has an amazing vibe, and incredible views over the harbour. The coffee is roasted on-site and is excellent. The food is also excellent, with lots of options to please everyone. Great selection of beers on tap. Highly recommend!
S.
Fresh, fast, yummy dinner menu $18-$24 mains, nice drinks selection. Probably good place to go with kids, lots of distractions, milkshakes and curly fries. Carnival setting. Weird chairs. 😁
J.
A bit of a wait but food is delicious. Staff are friendly and view is great on a nice day. Meals are quite large and I felt bad that I couldn't finish it all because it was delicious.
J.
Seashore cabaret as a family favourite for us and we make it a fairly regular place to visit. We load up the car with the bike's and the diggers and the sand toys, and go and play on the beach, and then head up to the cafe for curly fries, Banana Splits and chocolate milkshakes! The kids absolutely love it and the pinball machines get a thrashing too, oh, and the ride on 🏇.
Just a fabulous place filled with interesting and eclectic decor. Well done guys, we love you 😘
J.
We dined before 9am on a Thursday morning so it was relatively quiet, we were seated immediately and our order taken quickly, coffee is really good, the service was great, the food came quickly, everything was tasty and reasonably priced, cost around $60 for 2 breakfasts, 2 kids breakfasts and 2 coffees. Kids menu with healthy options and high chairs available.
H.
It's a casual restaurant with a great view of the Petone Foreshore. The menu included Fish Tacos with salad and chilli mayo, which we selected along with a side of fries. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. Staff were efficient and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
The entrance to the restaurant is unimposing but climb the stairs and it's a lovely informal place to dine. Sadly this place is not wheelchair friendly having no elevator up to the dining floor.
s.
While I love Seashore Cabaret and will continue to come regularly, sometimes the service needs to up its game. While service is good when they are busy, at quieter times (eg mid afternoon) expect to receive no table service - so if you go at this time just order at the front because the waiters won’t come or check on you (even if they tell you they will when you arrive).
C.
Never even knew this place existed. Great location although can be a little challenging to get there if coming from city due to traffic islands (just follow google maps)
Food brilliant, coffee exceptional and decor is totally different.
Definitely going back
L.
Location, location, location! Seashore Cabaret ticks all 3 boxes with ease. Don't be fooled by the understated entrance which is soon forgotten after ascending to an impressive and oh so cool brunch seaside spectacular complete with vaulted ceilings and an epic view. Food selection is varied and high quality, coffee is very good (you can buy their home roasted beans) and an array of bottled beers should satisfy most. Service is mixed, with the shift leaders being consummate professionals but others struggle to offer a welcome or a smile at even the quietest times. Seashore Cabaret certainly has the location but raising a smile would certainly improve the view.
G.
Always popular & busy
Fantastic position with view directly across harbour to Wellington City.
Good menu selection for breakfast and lunch
If only they had larger coffee cups / bowls.....
Highly recommend.
E.
Very noisy, but understand because of popularity.
L.
Our group of ten including four kids loved the food, arcade entertainment and fun restaurant fit out. It delivered on all levels. Our bag of coffee we bought from their in-store coffee store for our coffee machine is delicious. We will definitely be back.
L.
My favourite place to eat in the Hutt, great atmosphere and decent food. I would go back a hundred times, order the same thing and still never get bored of the place.
R.
Delicious cabinet and menu food and fantastic location overlooking the ocean. Staff super friendly and service very quick.
T.
Best steak and eggs in wellington area. The "truckers breakfast" pairs nicely with a side of mushrooms. Would recommend a separate plate for the chips as the sauce served on the steak does tend to bleed into the fries. Over all, still my favorite place to grab a bite to eat in the morning
L.
Great menu, pleasant variety to keep everyone happy. Kids were catered for with adequate choices. Superb atmosphere, staff were vibrant and engaging.
D.
Always great food & atmosphere at this local favourite.
H.
Great food, great atmosphere. There can be a wait on available tables (20min +) at peak times because it's so popular. Worth the wait if you have time. You can also buy fortune coffee beans here.
A.
Have been here twice now and it has been well worth the big queue and wait for the food both times.
S.
Cool place to take the kids. Staff are professional and no nonsense. Food is aesthetically pleasing. Coffee is good. Love their coffee and donut kiosk outside for convenience.
K.
There's a great thing going on down at Seashore Cabaret. For me, it's always nice to see a child friendly atmosphere where the food is of generous proportion and high quality. I liked the selection of beverages and the baristas are smashing out some excellent espresso. Never too long to wait and the service always comes with a smile (and banter if you're in to it). Great views of the harbour and there's also a few arcade games up the back if you're in need of entertainment while waiting on friends!
A.
Fantastic service, you show up and wait to be seated and there is sometimes a 20-30min wait on food for VERY good reason. They're always packed which is evidence of the delicious food and the friendly, welcoming staff. I come most Saturdays/Sundays sometimes both, I've brought so many of my mates that this wonderful spot is now a favourite of my mates visiting from Hawkes Bay, and might I add it's a lovely spot for tinder dates/new friend catch ups if you're like me and new here. I can't put into words how much I love this cafe. Also pupper friendly, bring your pooch up the back stairs to the deck and enjoy a water bowl after a stroll along the beach. Perfection. Thank you to all the staff here 😊❤️
C.
Awesome cafe and what a great place to meet for lunch. If coming from Wellington it is only a 20 min train ride to Petone.
Set on the esplanade with fantastic views of Wellington and inside the setting is like a seaside arcade.
There are booths which provide intimacy or you can be seated at tables.
They offer tantalising cabinet food and menu food. This cafe is always buzzing and the staff are friendly and the coffee is excellent.
The decor is set out like an arcade With memorabilia.
The weekends are busy so you need to get in early as the breakfasts are legend.
So instead of having lunch in Wellington, take the train you won’t regret it.
S.
Great atmosphere and nice food. We went at 8.30am on a Saturday and it was already quite full indoors. We sat on the balcony which was very peaceful with nice views of the harbour.
A.
A firm favorite for each member of our family ♡ we never leave disappointed! Thank you! Especially as a coeliac, it is never easy trusting a restaurant: THANK YOU for taking such care with our meals today! We loved it as always x
B.
Good food and funky atmosphere in a good location on Petone beach. Parking can be a bit of a challenge at times.
C.
Went here for Dinner and it was Awesome, staff are really helpful & friendly, super yummy burgers (vegetarian burgers too) & sodas, also catered to my dairy free requirements without a fuss whatsoever!!! New favorite place & well be back for sure 😁
A.
Nice place, great views, friendly staff and good food.
G.
Looked like it would be good, but after trying to make a reservation and told that they don't do reservations and there will be no trouble getting a table we drove over to find a 20 minute seating wait and 30 to 40 minute food wait after that.
Understand that things can be busy, but correct information when we rang would be appreciated.
Kids too hungry, so gave up and went elsewhere.
F.
Nice spot, very busy when we went so didn't eat. But looks great!
L.
Stunning setting by the sea. Lively atmosphere. Top quality food. Very friendly staff and excellent arcade area for children. One of the best eateries in the region!
J.
A very popular spot on the Petone foreshore.
The wait for a table was actually minimal. The wait for the food was close to 1/2hr - 40mins.
Coffee came quick.
GF burgers.. Fresh, hot and tasty
But the CurlyWurly chips were not. They had a cooked and ready before the the burgers were done, so left sitting on the side waiting, feel and taste about them.
My saviour was the LEMON Meringue from the cabinet. Now that was delish. Tangytart, with the sweet. Mmmmmmm.
The surrounding decor is on point and interesting to look over.
Worth a visit.
N.
Really cool spot. Been a couple of times rhis week, firstly for a Monday morning coffe business meeting and then celebrating our youngest's 11th birthday on Friday evening. A great venue for both events and good value home cooked diner-style menu, including a few good options for vegitarians. Having the retro funfair seaside feel is really cool and the kids enjoyed the pinball.

The food is Good, but there isn't much of it, the aesthetic is Good, but the chairs are uncomfortable as a result. The service is Good. You cannot have a conversation here during lunch hour, too many people shouting at each other, it's too loud. Good anytime that isn't rush hour.
K.
Super tasty coffee, wide variety of choices on the menu. Friendly as staff. Highly recommend for a chill vibe place to eat and drink.
B.
Nice waitresses, Great atmosphere, Reasonable-ish prices... So what's the catch?
The food is awful. I came with my family; we ordered nachos, it felt like they just chucked crisps and canned baked beans onto the same plate, as well as some microwaved cheese. We ordered the salmon salad and the star of the dish (the salmon) was cold, as though it had been taken out of a fridge and put on top of the salad. We ordered the homemade soup (Ramen), the ramen tasted slightly like 3 minutes noodles, and the bread that had been advertised to come within the meal did not, then when we asked for it, it was paid for as a separate item...
This place has some potential. I just wish they would put as much effort into making food as they did for every other thing. So, although this place is decent, I feel there are some better alternatives available.
N.
Funky place with a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. Tasty food, well priced. Very nice coffee that is roasted on site. Well worth a visit.
N.
Seashore is a great wee place, crazy busy on the weekends. Although there is normally a queue it clears quickly. Portion sizing is great, there is a diverse range of dairy and gluten free options and prompt service.
J.
Always fun and great food
A.
Enjoyed the food and view. Great service too.
R.
I recommend the Trucker's Breakfast: medium rare steak, eggs and chips with greens on the side. It's a popular spot; there could be a queue waiting for a table but the service and the menu are excellent.
B.
The decor and vibe of this place is super funky! Foods a tad on the safe side and under seasoned but overall nice. Great customer service
M.
Good ambiance. Great service
E.
Petone's best kept secret... the most unsuspecting entrance to a cafe I've ever seen, don't be put off!
The food is good and the early morning vibe is comfortable and relaxed.
D.
Fantastic food and super friendly staff. Great decor and novelties😊
T.
Amazing view! Not enough beach side restaurant in Wellington. Great beer and wine selection as well as delicious soda floats. Get the mussels , always amazing!
H.
nice food would pay to book in advance as tables were booked out eg 2 people at 6 person tables
A.
Great food and friendly staff. Very popular so expect a bit of a wait to be seated at busy times. Great views and good atmosphere with a good music selection.
S.
Great location and yummy vegetarian options
T.
Good food, nice staff
E.
Very family oriented place so great if you fe coming with kids, not so much if you aren't as it's quite noisy. Amazing and attentive staff and food was decent!
A.
Awesome service, the guy with the long hair and cool brown boots was very bubbly, cheers bro, great meals and very affordable, recommended to everyone, thanks for the great experience, much appreciated
D.
Fantastic food, especially the fish batti. Friendly staff and very good service all day around.
L.
Seashore Cabaret great, always popular, fast friendly service 2 for 1 burger deal a hit, as is the banana split!
M.
Amazing decor and my steak was spot on!
Staff was great.
Definitely book.
Cosing is abit early for late diners.
But definitely coming back
c.
Always insanely busy! A bit loud inside as not very sound engineered so not ideal for a date or a quiet little coffee catch up. All the food is amazing and it's worth the long line and the wait.
T.
Fabulous place - dealt with people waiting fabulously by checking how many people for a table and advising the wait time, prompt and friendly service, the best coffee I have ever had and divine meal. Wonderful stuff guys!
P.
Superb food and service. Coffee is right up there too.
J.
It's been a few months since I've been to Seashore but can't recommend place highly enough - especially the thickshakes. The food is always delicious, the service top notch, and the views across the ever-changing panorama of Wellington Harbour are worth waiting for a seat with a view.
A.
Good place to meet friends for a coffee or meal. Excellent friendly service plus a lovely sea view and nice decor.
T.
Coffee yum. Location can't be beaten. Fun outing. Just to be fussy about my experience, I wanted a plain shortbread type biscuit with my coffee. Not available.
J.
I had a dozen mussels, with an ice cold beer, it was delicious
k.
Great food and great vibe probably the best food in Wellington for my experiences. Most of the time I go there most of the staff seen unhappy and they are not very welcoming that why I give it a 4 and not 5
K.
Great service the young man we had was outstanding.. really good with the little girl who was eating with us.. delicious food
M.
Good service and cool place. Very popular though (cause it’s the only cafe by the beach) so you need to queue and wait for food.
It’s such a surprise going inside. Good place for kids to try on old school pinball
E.
Tasty food, strong coffee, super friendly and helpful staff, and beautiful location on Petone foreshore. The lines can get long after around 930 at the weekend but it's worth the wait.
T.
Great food! Friendly staff came over to greet us immediately. While it was quite busy, the interior was very interesting with a funky retro and artsy theme.
T.
Retro interior, freshly squeezed Vit C, the most delicious food! (I kid you not) And you get to enjoy all this with the beautiful still ocean waters in the backdrop and warm rays filtering in through the wide open doors. It's a must visit definitely ☺🌺
K.
Great food service is fast even when they're busy.
D.
Popped in here for brunch one day and it's now our favourite spot. Great for kids (ask for a booth to keep the young ones entrapped), great food and excellent coffee.
L.
Lovely staff. Super accommodating
C.
The reputation of the Cabarets sister cafe, The Maranui in Lyall bay has definitely helped with this venues popularity. During the linch periods this place can be extremely busy and noisy, but the staff somehow seem to cope and carry on with a smile. At peak times its not unusual to see the queue flowing out the door - impressive since this requires standing on a staircase.
Despite the crowds and noise - the Cabaret is well worth a visit just to check out its quirky interior, excellent food and friendly staff. On a fine day, the view from the verandah ( with your drink of choice) is gard to beat. Overall, its a wonderfull addition to the cafe scene of Petone - just try avoid the busy times!
A.
Loved the food, service and view
J.
Great atmosphere. Unique, interesting and fun décor. Happy efficient service. Views of the beach and delicious Nachos and pancakes.
C.
Cappuccino's are excellent. Great view and vibe. Friendly staff. You've gotta try their date and walnut cake with icecream. Delicious!
T.
Great food, coffee and milkshakes with generous portions. While it is great to see no plastic straws, the paper straw pretty much disintegrated before we could finish the shake.
R.
Good location and premises, and good staff, but menu needs attention - a bit lacking in variation when compared to other comparable places in Petone.
R.
Fantastic place to eat staff were amazing food was too. Lots of cool things to look at in here too. A place with so much history too.
v.
Awesome breakfast.
P.
Great food, cool atmosphere, but took ages to get a table; then 40 minutes to get our orders.
Worth the wait though.
R.
On beautiful Wellington days, this is the place to be. Lovely vibe, great food, fantastic crew, gorgeous view of the beach and Wellington. What more could you ask for?
A.
Great little brunch place, can wait for a while to be seated on the weekends but food and coffee is worth it. Also to note dont be scared when they tell you food is a "40 Min wait" it never is, they under promise and over deliver (which is a good thing)
A.
Always good food and grt coffee Plus view - hard to beat
T.
Seashore Cabaret is always busy which I always think is a great sign - even though it's busy I've never had to wait long to be seated. The food is great and the staff really friendly each time I've been - I recommend it as a great place for breakfast or lunch
M.
Great range of food. Very popular and busy but service prompt and friendly.
H.
Fabulous. Made me happy, like this guy on the Petone Wharf
T.
I was told it's the people who run Maranui cafe in Lyall bay (fav place in welly to get breakfast) and it's just as good! Super busy tho so you may have to wait but it's worth it. My new fav place in Petone/Lower hutt. Cool atmosphere too, nice staff and the food is the business!!
P.
Great location and atmosphere!!
E.
Love the food and service. Gets really busy over weekend because so popular, can take 40mins for food. Has lots of large tables so great for groups.
K.
Ah my favourite place of all time. Location and food is best. It’s very famous and always full, if you want to have your food in peace and enjoy beach view than try to go there in weekdays.
C.
Tasty food and lovely view. Very big desserts though, so maybe split one between two people.
R.
lovely atmosphere. very busy and you can't book so allow time!
R.
Much like Maranui in Lyall Bay, but bigger and with its own style. Great views of the beach, harbour and city beyond. Great for a coffee & slice, milkshake, brunch, lunch or a drink (beer and wine). Has a buzzy atmosphere and friendly staff.
B.
One of my absolute favourite cafes, only issue is that it's now so fricken popular, there can be a wait at peak times.
R.
This was a fun place to be. Food and wait staff great. Desserts to die for. And location is right on the beach. Walking distance to the pier. Beautiful location to view the sunset.
C.
Great food, coffee and atmosphere, friendly staff
s.
Great views witth outdoor seating. Wait times can be moderate but food is great. Would highly recommend for a brunch.
J.
Excellent all round cafe. Stunning sea views, great outdoor seating, excellent food and drinks. Good coffee (not amazing). Service is prompt and friendly.
Exactly what the Petone foreshore needed!
R.
Funky Cafe. Nice seafood selection and good range of juices. Burgers are massive!
D.
I love this place. Very family friendly, good coffee, good food. It's often busy, but it's a good experience regardless. Has pinball machines the kids can play on.
B.
Great coffee, great food, great place.
Family friendly too👌
J.
Great food and great setting. Can be busy in the weekends but they are very good at keeping wait times down.
M.
Amazing food. Everything on the menu is delicious. There's usually a wait for a table - well worth it.
L.
Gorgeous staff, smiley , helpful and a delight.
Wacky place with a retro vibe. Coffee tasty with food that looks amazing. Just the pkace to meet friends or sit and contemplate on your own. Busy and can be windy outside, sea sand and wind. What a way to spend a lunch and stay for tbe afternoon.
S.
Really good place. They made the order really quickly. Stuff was super nice and the burgers delicious!
K.
Exactly as expected.
Great cafe vibe food.
Killer outlook.
Go.
S.
Good food and service. Great decor inside with a glorious outlook to Domes Island on a sunny day. Lots of pinball machines to keep the kids happy too!
R.
Great food, good coffee and a really nice atmosphere
k.
Best table on the house for my friend's birthday. Food was yummy. Service cheerful
S.
I'd only go if you have young kids. The interior is unique and quirky, the food is OK but nothing too special. It's a family place and I imagine kids would love it...
R.
Great atmosphere and tasty food. We sat outside and it was lovely to look out over the harbour.
G.
Plenty of space to spread out and great views by the windows. Great decor and atmosphere. Good coffee, standard cafe food offerings but well made and served promptly by the friendly staff
S.
Not worth the wait really... Not sure what all the hype is about. Big breakfast covered in garlic, who has eggs and bacon covered in garlic anyway ?
T.
Loved the beachfront location. Enjoyed a solid G&T, amazing vegarian nachos and curly fries!
R.
Love this place and I have to say (without any criticism implied) its superior to its older sibling The Maranui! Space, service, food, coffee, curly fries, facilities, the vibe - Petone version packs the lot!
T.
Sensational coffee roasted there. Excellent service, great atmosphere and wonderful views. Popular for a reason
D.
Great location, great service. Didn't have a meal, but coffee and craft beer choice was great. Parking in the area can be hard to find, though.
A.
Great breakfast and brunch kai, a few tasty beers, good coffee, and an eclectic Wellington feel on the edge of the Hutt. Well worth a visit. Watch out for the 10 to 12 rush on weekends.
A.
Ohhh, visually enticing place with tasty food and lovely views of the Wellington Harbour. My all time favorite spot for garlic prawns. Or anything on their menu for that matter.
L.
Entree seafood delicious - mussels, prawns, salt and pepper squid. Mains and seafood very filling. Great service from staff and enjoyed our night out.
H.
Great food, good atmosphere and gorgeous views if you can get the rigut table. We'll worth a visit.
