Great breakfast that left both of us filled. I ordered poached eggs and a side of chicken which came to $26, highly recommend this combo team. My only small issue was it was a wee bit cold for my partner. The service was amazing and the coffee was probably the best I've had in Nelson this year! ☕☕☕ Recommend this place for sure!!

We came here for breakfast and it was a GREAT choice. The place does music stuff in the evenings so when you walk in for breakfast it's like walking onto a movie set. Lots of green plants (the place used to be a garden centre) a stage with red velvet curtains, theatre doors etc. Very nice vibe. We had the scrambled tofu (like smashed avacado but better) and I had toast and jam. While the tofu was delicious and would of made a great lunch or dinner meal, the toast and jam was a winner for me! They lightly fried the bread which made it amazing and it was served with homemade jam, mixed berries. This jam is on par with jam we had in Rotterdam in a very hip trendy cafe. A nice surprise and a good find in Nelson.

Sometimes you go to a restaurant expecting one thing but then have an all together different experience. We walked into DeVille's thinking poached eggs or maybe a luxurious muesli, but ended up somewhere near Texas. Firstly the coffee was top notch, one with oat milk particularly smooth. After dinner discussion at the table all three of us went 'southern' .. BBQ brisket with cornbread, blackened fish tacos and chicken quesadillas, despite it being 10.30am. We left with smiles on our faces. Thanks to the staff for a very pleasing alternative to poached eggs.

I almost don’t want to write a review and keep this place secret. Hidden behind high bushes in central Nelson it’s a sun trap and haven of good tucker. A great place to visit with children a variety of indoor and outdoor seating areas well fenced off from the street. Good selection of cold beers and cafe food. Service has always been good. They host bands in the evenings too.

DeVille food has never let me down. The ingredients are always fresh and beautifully presented. These eggs featured in Country Calendar! They are famous for keeping their shape! ☺️ The food is always tastier than you expect. 🤯 Generous portions, perfectly cooked! Always busy but plenty of indoor or outdoor seating. Polished, friendly staff. We didn't have to wait long either. Their blackboard menu is always amazing. Reasonably priced. Hot chocolates - on point! Decore is trendy (arty) in it's sustainability, and comfortable. You are not rushed out. It's just a great place to hang out... It can be full, and buzzing with chatter, but it's such a great atmosphere no-one seems to notice. Great music playing at a reasonable background level finished off the good vibes. A definite fan of this restaurant.

Always greet food and atmosphere. Love that they allow our well-behaved doggo in with us. It can be a decent wait time if they're busy so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry.

Relaxed, trendy, with punchy craft beers and delicious (quite large) servings of pub friendly food, DeVille is a great local destination for Nelsonities in the know or out of Towners who can point you down the appropriate side street. Try any of the fried chicken dishes - they're all good and with just enough spice to make them interesting. Apparently (not reviewed, but I hear stories) they also act as a location for great music gigs at night from time to time. I'll be back to find out!

Fairly regular visitor here . Have always had good food and coffee. But today got fish cakes. Very underwhelming, soggy and bland served with a very average salad. Hopefully it's just a bad day.

This cafe & bar, is tucked away 1 minute down a side road in the CBD, is well worth discovering. Enjoyed breakfast here, the coffee and food were of a high standard and the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. There are choices of seating inside and outside in the lovely covered courtyard surrounded by trees. They have live music. The cafe has good mobility access. A lovely warm and sunny location.

It was just ok, my coffee tasted a bit bitter also our order was messed up, ordered 3 coffees but were only given 2. Honest mistake as we only been charged for two. Also a little on the pricey side for what you get. Having said that the date scone and savoury muffin were very nice.

Great food, generous portions, and friendly service- all at a very reasonable price! It also helps that the decor is quirky without being over the top, and the music is enjoyable. We had the calamari & chorizo salad and the daily special which was a pork smothered burrito, both options delicious and actually quite filling. I have a few food allergies and the waiter helped me navigate the menu. We also had tasty Bloody Mary's. Personally, I appreciated that there was hot sauce on each table!! We'll be back. (Please note that I was very hungry and had mixed up my salad/taken a few bites before taking a picture! It was originally very nicely presented)

Quite disappointed as I have heard great things about this place and my partners meal was absolutely delicious, however when my my eggs benedict arrived after already paying for it I was told the hollandaise had split and I was given 2 other condiments instead. The breakfast was still good however I would have appreciated it if the restaurant had told me about the hollandaise before I had paid.

Went for sister birthday brunch. Booked a table which was reserved and clean upon arrival. Had to get our own water and menus. Sat outside and even though a very sunny day, had good umbrella shelter for kids etc. Ordered cabinet food, flat white and some kids food c/w orange juice. The cabinet food was pretty good. Other people in the party ordered off the menu, and the food looked great and came out within 15mins. Dogs allowed outside which is the norm for Nelson. The place has no deep fried food, eg chips nuggets etc. Which is a nice change from the norm. All in all a pleasant experience, nice staff and very relaxed setting.

Breakfast was simple but delicious and well presented, service was average as took us a while to realise that we had to go up and order at the counter as staff hadn’t said anything when walking past our table nor made attempts to talk to us when they saw us coming in, so we got up and asked inside eventually. Staff were also eager to clear our plates quickly as they were worried about birds. I hadn’t finished eating but felt rushed to. Birds weren’t harassing us at all. Location isn’t the greatest as tucked in an unattractive street with clunky businesses but once you’re inside, it’s beautiful so worth a visit when the weather is good.

I will start by saying I highly recommend the Buttermilk chicken 😍😍 amazing. I love the vibe of the whole place. The live music was great and the food bloody awsome! I will however comment on the staff/service. We had no idea who was a staff member and who was there for lunch. We had 4 different people come to our table to check our order (maybe some sort of communication problem) all but one wearing casual clothes. The other had an apron on. The meals took a while to order as we didn't really know who to talk to at the bar. It didnt take too long getting our food but they all came out at different times. As this was only an issue the first 2 times we came, the other times were perfect 👌 and will definitely be back again!

The night I went to DeVille it was really busy with a live band so the bar service was pretty slow. They have a good selection of non alcoholic drinks that range beyond to usual OJ and soft drink. The atmosphere is great, I love the decor!

I’ve been working in luxury hotels for almost a decade, so believe me when I say: Deville is absolutely fantastic! Went for a lazy lunch à mois... the beautiful style and atmosphere alone had me smiling like a child for the whole meal and most of the walk to the waterfront. Go on a sunny day, order the bbq pork tacos and a glass of wine (a fraction over $30 total) and thank me later... I gather they won best cafe at the Nelson Hospitality Awards; which is in many ways the least surprising thing I’ve heard all year

These guys go the extra mile! We stopped in last weekend with our two year old and large dog. The service was fast and friendly. The owner was very accommodating with our son and dog. He even cleaned our son up after his delicious banana and mango smoothie. We'll be back!

I was delighted to be able to visit this lovely setting with my dog Nico. The sun was shining bright and we were about to run up the maitai river. We chose to sit outside after ordering our coffees to relish in the delightful vitamin D provided free of charge by the sun. Nico enjoyed socialising with the other dogs and the coffees were served very quickly. The young man had delightful manners and he gave Nico a nice pat. I was too relaxed to get any photos but I had a delightful time. We never ended up running along the maitai as we stayed for too long. All in all a wonderful visit and Nico and I will be back.
