Reviews of The Glory Company - cafe
J.
2022 in Jan, there was no dine in. Only takeaways. However, tables and chairs were outside so you can have your meal there. I had a pulled pork burger which was fantastic. If you want to get fries, you have to order separately.
L.
I love the coffee and quiche that what I just ordered , even though I couldn’t having it proper as dining indoor but sit outside with reasonable , still love to come back again! Appreciate it all🥰
T.
Tasty food and pretty good coffee. Absolutely enjoyed my neenish tart!! Your scones looked pretty tasty too...
From what I could see, a really nice selection of food to cater to everyone.
Just read a review by a lady named Pip and your response. Just want to say, good on you for not discriminating. We need more businesses like you Glory Company. I'm impressed.
S.
Very good place to stop for a coffee! Nice seating outside, no indoor seating with current alert level unfortunately. Coffee is good and big selection of savoury and pastry.
But the doughnuts were most epic, had 2, too good!
Very nice service.
J.
Lovely cafe, delicious food, friendly and welcoming staff! Thank you for being inclusive of everyone and not having the discriminatory policies that are ruining our beautiful NZ! The haters are just bitter nasty people. Don't listen to them, keep doing what you're doing!
We will always make the effort to support you guys when we roll through Ngatea.
M.
Fabulous food, super fresh and bursting with flavour. Lots of variety. We LOVE that you are doing your best to serve EVERYONE. Our family immensely enjoyed our lunch today. We shall we returning to your establishment again.
O.
Delicious food and coffee, good service. Worth stopping, the best place to stop on the way from Auckland to Te Aroha
L.
Stopped here on way home on Sunday 23rd Jan , amazing coffee , special praise to the young man wearing a green mask , couldn't resist the food either as it all looked so fresh , cinnamon scroll absolute delight , if I didn't live hours away I'd be tempted everyday , thanks for making a long drive more enjoyable
S.
We came here due to trying to find somewhere open on Christmas Eve. We were not disappointed. The muffin and Neenish tart were rated highly by the husband and kid. The coffee was good, I especially liked how large their large was! However, the sausage roll was dry and lacked flavour. The mini potato tops were ok but not great.
A.
The cafe is great place for small group to seat and enjoy breakfast lunch or afternoon tea. Plenty of options to choose from a snacks and small plates. I loved the interior of this cafe, it is very beautiful and antique. It is pretty comfortable and nice place to relax for a short time before you begin your journey again.
G.
Served by a lovely young Gentleman yesterday. Fantastic food and amazing coffee! The cafe has been updated since its Copper Kettle days and was enjoyable atmosphere sit in. Will be Returning
T.
Nice place. Open early. Lovely looking food well displayed. I had a takeaway bacon & egg pie. Hot, fresh and crispy flaky pastry. Also plenty of filling. Pity about the pepper. I don't like pepper so even a minute amount puts me off. Having said that, I still enjoyed it.
R.
The Copper Kettle is gone ..... I guess things change.. it not only has a new name, but it now has a very contemporary look .... I like the concept and the fit out - it’s very urban chic .... I am disappointed about the other changes though ... no more self service to a huge variety of sandwiches and pies ... they do it for you ... which, in itself is not bad .... but the Cheese and Onion Sandwiches - something this place was famous for ... was so disappointing ... did they toss a block of cheese and a couple of onions in a blender and blitz it until it was a paste to smear on the sandwiches? ... the sandwich was very disappointing ... the coffee was bitter .... and there was no raw sugar option - only white sugar and equal - now, normally, I wouldn’t expect raw sugar at cafe in Ngatea ... but with the new urban chic look - it’s an expectation .... I really hope the owner of this place reads all the reviews and focus’s on the negative feedback to improve their business ..... lets see if its better the next time I’m passing
C.
Definitely worth stopping. Delicious homemade selection of food, warm friendly service and plenty of small town charm.
D.
Friendly service, lovely coffee and very delicious blueberry muffins.
A.
Excellent cafe, friendly service.
They choose not to descriminate and pride themselves on 'filtering coffee and not people'
Will return again
R.
Stopped here for breakfast on way to Auckland they have supreme coffee which I like and the myself was good. Clean toilets and pleasant staf. Cost $$

Thank goodness for this place when you need a coffee in a cyclone!

Don't just drive past. Stop check it out... Have your flat white with a dessert..
L.
Lovley food and coffee, place was clean and very friendly staff . Very enjoyable
J.
Lovely coffee! Lots of sweet options
L.
Great bacon and egg toastie thank you
R.
Lovely cafe. Very cute. Muffin was delicious. Staff happy & friendly
Lovely window seat
The food looked good.... but I couldn’t try it all in one sitting
B.
Paid far more than I normally would for a burger but it was worth it. Very fresh ingredients, excellent quality meat patty with the pickled onion that made it a ploughman's burger. The fish and chips for the thumbs up from my fellow diner. The coffee is expensive, $5 for a long black is over the reasonableness cap. The decor and furnishing relaxing and professional. Road noise not obvious. Staff well trained, well dressed and professional.
L.

J.
Delightful clean organized historic cafe food served warm and served quickly. Hot drinks perfect. Good spaces so one is not crowded
Appealing cabinet food. Cheery staff greeting customers. Clean toilet with soap and towels. Love the style of cafe. One larger room for a bigger group.
k.
Incredible service warmth and quality of food and creamy coffees
S.
Delicious goodies, baked onsite. However, the staff would do well to remember that regardless of the time of day that customers visit, that they are the bread and butter. Customer service requires a happy demeanor...lasting impressions count.
Y.
For range of food, service and cleanliness fantastic. Fish deliciously fresh but you can improve... the shop smells from the stale oil and the fish and chips tasted of it. Hence I left the batter and most chips uneaten.
P.
Best burger ever, take ploughmans one - it's delicious! Coffee also best in NZ till now!
K.
Really busy place around lunch time, yet service was still great. Great selection of cabinet food. Called in for a coffee and sweet treat - yum, will make a point of stopping here when passing through. Ngatea is the new "in" place to stop. Locals are really friendly and out to make an impression (including the quality of food).
B.
Quick service. Friendly staff. Hot and cold food choices.
K.
Best mince n cheese pie I have had! As well as loaded fries!!!!!
S.
Service with a smile...
Food was great...
Mocha was silky smooth and delicious...
Come along, you should have no regrets...
J.
Average to mediocre. The pie was dry and virtually inedible. Toastie was bland. No seasoning in sight. Need to change the bottles in ecomist fly deterrent. Nice decor otherwise.
K.
Great experience. We enjoyed our brunch and will be happy to eat here again.
E.
Coffee excellent but expensive. Clearly the idea is in a very small town where rents would be considerably cheaper than the city, is to fleece the 'wealthy Aucklanders' passing through.
Dont know if you can order off a menu but pretty standard cabinet fare.
C.
Thank goodness for this place when you need a coffee in a cyclone!
M.
Lovely place. Variety of tasty food at a reasonable price. Option for gluten free bread. I had a very nice broccoli vc W almond and cranberry salad while my husband opted for a mussel fritter. The fritter took a while to be served but the waiting was worth it. He says it was very tasty and fresh; the portion was very generous! They also operated the information centre of the lovely Ngatea community. They have toilets but there are public toilets 50m away. Access the road there is a full petrol station w prices worth a refuel.
J.

Great coffee
S.
Delicious food and quick service
R.
Lovely place. Lovely people. Busy place
Y.

C.
Absolute best place to stop on the trip between Auckland and Tauranga. Really really good food and coffee. It can be busy but that's for a good reason.
P.
Best burger ever, take ploughmans one - it's delicious! Coffee also best in NZ till now!
L.
Try the ginger crunch 😎
J.
Very clean and tidy friendly staff but wow wow so pricey: definitely more expensive than Auckland cafes not sure why I ended just getting a coffee as prices just put me off
C.
Lovely place with great food and reasonably priced. Loved the decor and the staff are welcoming and friendly and I was impressed to see them work efficiently and quickly. They greeted everyone that walked in with a cheery "Good morning" and a smile, which is such a nice change from a blank stare from counter staff while they wait for you to make your choice. Well done to the young people that work there.
G.
This cafe has the wow factor. The food is a good variation of traditional nz and Euro foods. Mostly prepared at the cafe. Great smoothies. Strong coffee 👍
D.
The old Copper Kettle Cafe has had a makeover and it's as good as it ever was, maybe even better. Helpful staff, great coffee and beautiful food. The range of refreshments is vast and it looks as good as it tastes. Certainly not the cheapest cafe around but in my opinion the extra cost is worth paying
M.
Had a birthday cake made here. It was well presented and the icing was in proportion to the cake. The group who had it say it was the best carrot cake they have had. It was delicious. The icing was the best ever. Thank you to your in house Baker for a fantastic cake.
T.
Delicious, fresh food and great coffee. Spotlessly clean. Friendly service. The best cafe experience I've had for some time. This will be our new go-to place to stop half way between Auckland and Tauranga.
J.
A real oasis at the mid point between Tauranga and Auckland. I'm calling it. Best flat white I've ever had. The blend they use is fruity, aromatic and lots of flavour without being overpowering. Perfectly made. Our cake was great too and everything looked top notch. Yah!
k.
The Old Copper Kettle. Excellent revamp! Food and atmosphere still just as good. I had mussel fritters. Amazing!!! Staff friendly and helpful. A must stop from Auckland to Bay Of Plenty
D.
Friendly, tasty, clean. Nice place to take a wee rest. Good pies, good chips, but I saw they serve real food too.
J.
Great food, people, feeling about the place and the chalkboard art is incredible.
a.
mum recommended stopping for a coffee as she's been before and said it was awesome! beautiful food and great milkshakes! will be back whenever we drive through Ngatea for sure :) thanks
D.
Great coffee, yummy food (lots of gluten free baking!) and friendly staff make this a really good option. Open fairly long hours (by cafe standards) and Tip top scoop icecream makes it a great stop on a road trip!
D.
Another great cafe. Food is always first class and the staff don’t treat as though they’re doing you a favour. I’m sure this cafe used to be called The Copper Kettle and it was a great cafe then but it’s much nicer now. Highly recommended
S.
A busy spot great selection of yummy cabinet food, decent menu selections (untried though). excellent coffee (Supreme). Good staff who were attentive to needs of parents with young ones.
J.
Food was pretty good but service was slow. Certainly doesn't quite live up to the good old Copper Kettle but at least it offers a toilet now! Still the best choice when stopping in Ngatea.
G.
Convenient break on the journey, plus great service & coffee:)
j.
Stopped in for a coffee and some food after a freezing morning on the farm. The coffee and eggs bene muffins were frikken amazing. And the two gorgeous ladies behind the counter had the best smiles I've seen in ages. Definitely will be visiting again, maybe even as soon as Monday.
R.
Great place!! Great people and fantastic experience 👍👍👍
J.
Lovely food, pleasant staff, tidy venue. It was nice to stop there today and enjoy the surrounding watching the world go by while having a Sunrise smoothie and something to eat. Thank you
m.
Gorgeous food, great prices, wonderful friendly staff what more could one want at a Cafe.
P.
Very nice food, great coffee and helpful staff
M.
Well put together, unpretentious spot with excellent food. As a vegetarian I was spoilt for choice and the coffee was fantastic as well. Definitely a place to stop off at, for 10min or an hour.
T.
A step back in time, enjoyed the nostalgic music and cool liitle cafe. Pancakes truly yummy! Cool pit stop when road tripping.
A.
It's great for what it is, a small cafe out in the country. The meals were cheaper that what you would pay in Auckland, tasted quite good and decent portion sizes. Sadly I was too hungry to take photos of the food.
Just don't expect the hip and trendy decor that your use to in town.
L.
Family friendly, great service. One staff member in particular helped me with the change table, found somewhere I could breast feed discretely and gave friendly service. On top of that they have good decafe (rare) and great food.
P.
Nice feel. Supreme coffee done well. Choice of veggie food. Just wish cafes would use oven or air fryer to reheat rather than microwave.
R.
Have called though here a few times when traveling the north island each trip 1-2 years apart, if consistency and good old fashioned service impresses you as much as it does myself make sure you call by this little gem on your journey.
Also if you are looking for the most tasty, moist and flavourful blueberry muffin in NZ make Copper Kettle your one stop shop, I get one every trip and have not been let down once to date.
K.
I hadn't stopped here for about 4 years maybe longer. The food was so good. Range of choices, and the coffee was great. Topping it off with a decent peice of brownie.
A.
Lovely meal eggs bene and fish and chips. Good portion sizes. Not too long a wait. Good stopping place 🙂
D.
Great drop in Cafe excellent friendly service variety of healthy foods
A.
Good friendly service but lacks atmosphere to make it 'a place to go' and as such its just another cafe. What's with 'The Glory Cafe' name? Should be more 'punchy' like the former 'The Copper Kettle'.
A.
I really liked the vibe here. Food for sale temptingly displayed and oh so yummy! Well worth stopping for a break. Home made pies and cakes with variety. Enjoy..we did.
L.
We truly enjoyed stopping here. So friendly, accommodating with menu changes, great coffee and impeccably clean. Don't drive past this cafe.
B.
Lovely cafe. A tasty range of gluten-free options. Will definitely visit again.
k.
Very clean and inviting. Good food and coffee. Friendly service. Food selection is first rate. Voted top stop in cafe in NZ on Facebook. Well deserved.
S.
Nice food and friendly hotel staff.
L.
Can always get a great feed. Food is delicious. It can get pretty busy but worth the wait. Only gave a four instead of a five star due to the loo.
J.
Very enjoyable, happy people, good service. Pie could have been fresher with more filling it was just average which was a shame. Great that you have Filter coffee.
W.
Quick service but found it a bit expensive
R.
Very nice cafe and stop often when driving through. Some cabinet items are pricey (e.g. salmon frittata) but tasty. Friendly young staff.
A.
Food was absolutely delicious, the date scone was full of dates, and the gluten free raspberry coconut slice was amazing!! Ooh and the gluten free apricot cheesecake was DELICIOUS!!
A.
Great food and coffee. Clean establishment and friendly staff. Best cafe in town hands down.
S.
Popped in on my way home from Tauranga on a Saturday. Coffee was great, Brioche was devine. Service was a little slow but they appeared to be short staffed.
K.
Beautiful fresh home cooked food. Lovely setting. We had a great lunch here.

T.
Comfortable seating, good space, excellent service, an catered well for my Gluten Free needs.
C.
Worth a stop to refuel on the way to AKL airport. Very pleasant staff. I wish the smoothie was served in glass not plastic though as I was eating in.
J.
This was the copper Kettle for years and it got a bit past it. I had a chickpea and spinach roll which was fresh and delicious and served by a friendly staff member. Can't ask for much more than that
s.
Super friendly service and delicious mochas!
