Outstanding service for such a busy place. Super fast service of the food. So many options we have to go back and try more of what looks like a yummy menu. Food itself, delicious and filling.

Great food considering how busy it gets. Food is always top quality even when they have 50 people in the cafe. The best iced coffees! We come here often. Service ok but very busy so staff probably knackered

I love Cafe Cuba! They have wide range selection of cabinet food. Food are so yummy and mouthwatering. I love the mocha. The double bacon and cheese panini was so good! If only staff are more friendly then it would be perfect

Had a great lunch here. Excellent table service and attentive staff. Lots of cabinet food available as well as a full menu! Caters to vegetarian diners well too. We had polenta fries with sweet chilli sauce and the baby Cuba (both $11.50)

Yes!! I’m back We back for 2021 Today we starting at @cafecubapn which was a lovely visit . I didn’t get a big meal this time but I got Double chocolate Brownie to help my sweet craving .My friend and I share some chips which was decent . I got a milkshake as well haha. Visit this Cafe regularly for the excellent coffee and great value meals. Baristas are very quick with coffees and the sizes of the coffees are very generous. Go here for the best coffee you will find in Palmerston North.

Can be busy and hard to get a seat at this cafe. I went there in the evening though to get some dessert after dinner and there were lots of free tables, but unfortunately they were closing 20 minutes later. Food is great here and the Silk cake is to die for. Sooo good. There is a huge variety of food available and the coffee is great. Had to update this review...have visited a few more times and each visit was great. I think this cafe has the best cakes in Palmerston North. They are a little pricey but the serving size is enough to share. Update: went back again today and had a delicious chicken and bacon focaccia...so good. Then shared a piece of passion fruit and white chocolate cheesecake... Amazing.

My Hash Brown stack was beautiful but my husband's Steak, Eggs and Chips not so good, asked for medium rare got almost well done, eggs over cooked with crunch underneath...onion rings dry, chips ok.

I really Iike this place,good food, unfortunately some of the front of house staff have a rock star sense of entitlement lol however ,I've been a few times now and always had a great meal, my compliments to the people behind the scene cooking,a better more helpful attitude from some front of house staff

Great food, great coffee, fast friendly service and a great environment. Was recommended this cafe by a local friend. Now everytime I come to town I stop in. The cafe is usually super busy around lunchtime and can be difficult to find a seat, but you can usually call ahead to reserve a seat if you plan on eating in.

Awesome eggs bene from this cafe. Quick service and 5mins later served my meal. Yummo coffee ob vc!

Excellent cafe experience! Their breakfast and dessert options are outstanding and they always serve great coffee. Loved the Feijoa smoothie! If you're a fan of feijoa's, this is a must.

What a Fantastic place, Michele and I could not fault it, excellent food and fantastic service, Steak was perfectly cooked to my liking, the chocolate silk cake, OMG fantastic . And Michele raved about the baked cheesecake. Definitely be going back.

What an excellent place to eat. The food is absolutely delicious. So much flavour and definitely enough to make a big guy like me feel full. Then there is an amazing array of deserts including cheesecakes so big they stopped me in my tracks. Finally as if that wasn't enough they are licenced as well. Top notch dining experience. I will most definitely return, I need to try the steak sandwich.

Great food, great vibe. Perfect for a sunny day outside on a sidewalk table, or for a quick coffee and cake date (or brunch or breakfast or lunch). Hands down Palmerston Norths best all round cafe. The baked cheesecakes and carrot cake have me coming back time and time again!

Only had a coffee and they do it well like that they do a bowl size as it's different and grate for people like me.... you can't ever get to much coffee .

Only had a takeaway coffee and scone. I had to ask for the scone to be heated, and they didn’t offer any butter. Coffee was lukewarm and very milky. Menu meals did look pretty good from what I could see though, as did cabinet food. Staff could do with a bit of a jolt though - they wouldn’t last in Cuba!

Great help for mother with a child in a capsule in a busy restaurant finding a table and bringing menus. Very tasty and great portion of wedges, very nice Chocolate and a mocha cold drink. Did not wait long for the drink, as I said a very busy restaurant

Food is delicious (especially the banoffee pie) but the service I received today wasn't very welcoming, they were rushing to get us out the door.

So disappointed ordered nachos got large serving taco chips and tablespoon mince. See photos.If wanted just chips I would have purchased bag from supermarket. Cafe has gone downhill since last review.When I queried as to why the cook! said that’s how portions are.what a cheapskate this owner is. Never will be back.i apologise in advance for my previous reviews. Like I said cafe has gone downhill . Not surprised to hear staff wanting to leave. Apparently Focal point across road does really good nachos. cafe has a buzz and is busy but the tables are cleared quickly and the service is fast. Only a 8 min wait for my breakfast.My breakfast was really good but I do prefer sauces to be served separately as not everyone likes sauce covering their food. The staff are courteous and very helpful.Self help water bottles in fridge, newspapers & magazines to read.Between $9-20 for breakfast. Warm and inviting . Thanks

Great place for breakfast and I enjoyed the fresh toast. It was full of flavour and filled me up.

Enjoyed our lunch very much, was very happy to have my egg cooked hard as requested. Great atmosphere, busy friendly staff. Will be back.

A local institution. Consistently good. Coffee food and a great place to catch up with friends. Favourites on the menu: open steak sandwich and chocolate silk cake.

Absolutely brilliant. First thing as soon as I walked in the door, I was handed a menu and told what seats were available. I wouldn't say this is essential but it shows they noticed I was there, which I really appreciate. I got the salmon eggs benedict and I was amazed at the quality, they were cooked to absolute perfection. I also got a large coffee and what I found both amazing and amusing about it was they served it in a literal bowl. Fantastic! 10/10, would recommend, the only thing is it can be a little pricey.

Busy cafe as you would expect on Cuba Street. Mainly big breakfasts as you would expect, however you can get sandwiches,pastries etc. Cuba theme inside with the pictures, service was pleasant and the food was ok. Pricing was reasonable and worth a visit

Busy place. Very hospitable staff. Lovely hot cup of tea. Made Grandie a lovely Fluffy. She was very happy with the sprinkled Hundred and Thousands. Rainbows through her drink. Cup was just the right size for a little person to hold safely.

Had breakfast here when visiting Palmerston North on business. Cafe Cuba came highly recommended and did not disappoint. They also had really nice cabinet food. I've no doubt food at any time of the day would be enjoyable here. The service was fast and friendly. Big selection, they sell keto friendly cakes too. It’s always busy.

I love Cuba St Cafe! Their cabinet food is so delicious and covers a variety of dietary preferences. Ordering from the menu does not disappoint. Good sized portions and beautifully presented. The staff buzz along nicely and the atmosphere is light. A great place to stop.

Went for coffee and cheese cake, baked cheesecake crust was extremely thick and very hard, coffee was acceptable.

Popped in for an early tea. Friendly staff and great tasting food. Good options for kids as well.

Visited this lovely cafe in April for breakfast. The food was delicious, the french toast i had came with the freshest blueberries and strawberries. The coffee was perfect and the staff attentive. Can highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant food, very good coffee and really fast with coffee and hot counter items (I think they use a panini press to heat things). Been twice and both great experiences.

Good and affordable food, but too popular. Many good dishes were sold out and we had to sit outside in unpleasant weather because there were too many people. This is obviously a very popular spot with the locals. Great building and location. Next time i will try to go back there at a time with fever people, e.g. not lunch time.

My scrambled eggs & hash browns were perfect to refuel after the park run.

Had brunch, very nice I had the potato rosti stack & I really enjoyed it, it came with a perfectly poached egg which is quite a rarity these days so 10 out of 10 from me. The coffee was okay, not the worst I've ever had but far from the best.

We we're lucky to get a good spot near the counter where it was nice and bright and not as noisy as around the corner inside. Food was lovely and we'll priced. As we are not from the area we were pleased with our choice of cafe. A busy spot which tells u it's good.

Great coffee and a good selection of food. The cabinet food was well presented and was of a good size with plenty of flavour. The food on the menu was well cooked and we really enjoyed everything about the cafe. The service could not be faulted and they are a credit to the cafe, they made our time there very enjoyable. I absolutely love this Cafe, however every time I come here I am reminded of the failed bay of pigs invasion in 1961 which always causes me great distress. My wife died in Cuba during the revolution and I'm only now starting to move on and enter the dating pool again, which coincidentally was why I was there at cafe cuba, meeting a beautiful 60 year old woman who I met on a dating website. Unfortunately she was very fat and homely, she looked nothing like her profile picture and so I rode my mobility scooter out of there as fast as I could. Overall the food is good too.

I arrived just on closing time, they very kindly served me... we had travelled all the way from Wellington, and had heard about their Chocolate Silk Cake... so they made my day by letting me in as they were cleaning up. The cake was simply silky smooth... thank you soooo much 😋

Was around when this cafe first opened with Jo Block in the kitchen!! Great service with warm, friendly till staff [a past pupil of mine- so proud] terrific coffee & something I hadn't come across before; samplar plates of slices. Mmmm brilliant idea!! It's been a long time between visits but still an outstanding cafe & popular with most tables occupied inside & out at 3.30pm on a Sunday!! Has to be good

Food is always great from the cabinet, and got delivered in a timely manner. We sat outside as there was no room inside, was a very windy day, once there was a table free inside the waitresses kindly asked if we would like to move inside.

Great coffee. City styled cafe food and presentation and prices. Dog friendly however no table service thru the day. That was the only downside to my experience. Was dining alone and had to leave stuff on table outside to go order. Food was standard breakfast.

Quick service, nice coffee and good food. However very few Covid rules being adhered to. Definately no social distancing as tables were crammed together, we were offered table service or order at the counter.

I so enjoyed eating lunch at Cafe Cuba. Such a big range of yummy and healthy food. A good choice of veg meals too. I had vegetarian Nachos. A really good serving and so tasty. I must say that I was not impressed with the Cararamel Cheesecake though. The filling wasn't very nice and the base was far too hard. We ate outside under the shade of umbrellas. The Staff were friendly with great service. I will go here again

Nice morning breakfast with friends. Managed to score a corner table, ordered hash browns with halloumi for my friend while I ordered the porridge. Drinks came out quick, nice and hot. Porridge was well presented with blueberries (prefrozen) and sliced almonds with your milk and brown sugar (classic). The staff were well presented and friendly to serve and clear tables quickly for the next customers. Overall a great cafe would revisit, parking makes this cafe an easy accessible for everyone:

This is one of my most favourite cafes. However today they seemed to have some new staff and things didn't gel well. However, food was really good again. Coffee was good just not excellent as normal.

Was having a rough day and just needed a break, cafe cuba did that for me! The man on the till was lovely, he made me smile! The food was also delicious and they make a very nice hot chocolate! I will definitely be returning!

If I lived in Malta this would be my local eatery without a doubt. We loved the concept, the vibe, the decor and the food and drink. The white chocolate etc on crepes and pancakes are to die for in fact so good that we returned the next day to have exactly the same order all over again. The fruity lemonade was also refreshing. I noticed that there was a varied menu with tacos, pizza,pasta and cocktails. Really what more can you ask for. The location is handy too as Cubas on Sliema waterfront across from the ferry crossing to Valletta. It's clean and every member of staff we spoke to were friendly, obliging and professional. The people working there are exceptional and even though the place is usually busy you don't have to wait long. The only negative point , I could see, was that there was only one ladies toilet so there was always a queue. In a busy place this needs to be addressed I think especially when there's baby changing facilities in it. This wasn't enough to give it any less than excellent however. Highly recommend and can't wait to return in April.

I have enjoyed the coffee and cabinets selection on many occasions so construction of a breakfast was appealing. A personal preference for poached eggs proved a poor choice as the use of excessive white vinegar to set the poached eggs dominated breakfast. The order was not for pickled eggs. After mentioning this to my waitress, there was no response from the kitchen. A bit sad as I have, nor had any expectation of recourse, just acknowledge my concern please.

Had a weekend away in Palmy with my Mum - came for breakfast on Saturday, loved the food, the service was fantastic. Enjoyed so much we came back for afternoon tea and again for breakfast the following day. This place has a really good vibe and would highly recommend. Can't wait to come back.

Their popularity is clear and can make your visit longer than planned. Good menu for breakfast and choice baking for that morning or afternoon tea. Service is quick and experienced. Everything a modern cafe should be.

Very yummy food, young staff just need to be a little more aware of seving customers, but overall was very nice.

VISITOR in area - was looking for brunch/lunch spot - this looked full. Had Savoury Mince on Toast w side of creamy mushrooms. Wished there was another toast - v generous portion of mince but felt it needed another toast. Also mince tasted a bit dry, maybe need some more sauce. But overall it was great! Good coconut FW too.

A great selection of counter food which not only looks appealing it tastes good as well, coupled with an excellent drinks selection, and blackboard menu. The food from the blackboard menu was fresh, flavourful well presented, and reasonably priced.

Our favourite brunch place in PN, we have at least one meal here every time we visit Palmy. The food is very good and so is the coffee. Service is generally good, depends who's running the place on the day.

VERY popular Cafe due to street corner position with ample daytime sun and outdoor sidewalk seating. Food range is awesome from the breakfast or brasserie menu. There's even more in the counter cabinets, especially an impressive selection of cakes and slices. Pricing is very fair.

Delicious food and happy atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the food you order comes to your table quite quickly looking good and tasting just as good. The iced coffee is my fave.

Excellent cafe for breakfast. Had Eggs Benedict for 3 mornings and all were perfect; runny yolks, hash browns, crispy bacon (glad it didnt have much fat), little bit of green stuff on top to make me feel like its healthy. Mochas each morning. 2 of 3 were fantastic, last one lacked a bit of froth on top & had a little less chocolate. The slices are some of the best I have had. I have been here at least 1 week a year for the last 3 years and the food has always been great. I'm very fussy when it comes to food, so this review goes to show just how good the cafe is.

4 stars are for the hot coffee with lactose free and almond available. The cakes and slices are way too sweet for me so Ill stick to the coffee! Friendly staff and just watch at a mega busy time, they staff are cohesive and its runs very smoothly.

We visited Cafe Cuba at about 11am on Sunday and found it to be extremely busy! We were a bit worried about how long we would have to sit and wait for the food to arrive, but it didn't take much longer than 15 minutes before all four of us had our meals and drinks. The food was really delicious! The hash brown stack was a big highlight. The cabinet food all looks absolutely stunning - a range of cakes and slices that made me want to order one of everything! Fantastic service topped off a great experience.

I am a regular at Cafe Cuba. The happy vibe from the staff adds atmosphere as they busily get the food out quickly. They cope well with a full house, no long waits. Great coffee, family friendly, good choice of seating inside or outside.

Nice cozy local restaurant to Palmy for mostly upbeat and trendy crowds. However, no harm dipping yourself in the delicious chocolate brownies and sippin on that coffee outside and enjoying the book. You have to Park off street and it has wheel chair accessible entrance.

Cafe Cuba observed the Covid19 protocols with regard to hand sanitizers, table spacing and signing a register. The food was delicious with generous servings. Would recommend this cafe as a great place for casual dining.

Funky Cafe in the heart of Palmy's cafe district. Good service, good food, great vibe. Been around forever but still lives up to it's reputation. Lots of space for conversations over a good coffee and cake. Recommend.

Cafe Cuba is incredibly popular. The food is always delicious either off the menu or from the great cabinet selection. The cafe itself however is getting very tired and is overdue due for some renovation.

Very busy cafe, good variety of simple yet tasty food. Fast service & friendly staff. Would be a 5 star but they refused to make my daughter a toasted sandwich when she didn't want anything off the standard kids menu because they were 'too busy'.

Build a breakfast is a con! 2 x eggs and toast $9.60 (your base), then every other item added is $4. So one base and one serve each of - tomato, bacon, black pudd & small sausages = VERY EXPENSIVE. Come up with a reasonably priced breakfast please!!? However on the plus side, it was good and the staff are efficient and friendly.

I love the fact that they have lactose (tummy friendly) free milk as a choice for lactose intolerant people. The only cafe, I know of in palmerston north to do.

Lovely lovely old worlde dining style with a modern twist. I went at 3.30pm and they were really busy so obviously it's a popular place. And for good reason - it was hard to make up my mind what to eat for afternoon tea. If you're a vegan, your choice is quite limited. Likewise if you are dairy intolerant or gluten free. Great coffee in three sizes -small cup, medium cup or bowl. Inside or outside dining offered though if it's really busy you'll just have to take what's available or try and find somewhere else just as good close by - good luck with that!

Always reliable. Been going on and off since I was a student here 15 years ago. Would be 5 stars but sadly the last couple of visits the service (and caramel slice) just weren't quite at the usual old standards.

Consistently amazing coffee every time I have stopped over while travelling, over quite a few years. Always, always busy with a reasonable line but worth the wait for the coffee at least.

Good food but extremely long wait. Difficult to hold conversation with people at the same table, lots of noise. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

This place was nearly packed to the brim when I arrived and for good reason. The food here was delicious (special shoutout to the Hashbrown Stack) and the coffee was huge! Only downside was that the juice isn't fresh, instead coming from a bottle. But otherwise a great café!

This is a popular little cafe. Staff were efficient and friendly. Variety of food options offered (cabinet and cooked meals). Wish I'd discovered them sooner. I'll definitely be back.

Caters to all needs, Plenty of space and variety of food on the menu for everybody. The staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to helping us with the high chair for our son. The food was wonderful and the beverage was good too.

Initially I wondered if this was a bar masquerading as a cafe, but, convinced by the ever-present crowds, had breakfast there with a group the morning after a wedding. The soy latte was quite good and the hash stack incredibly yummy and plated very stylishly. The bride had the toasted bagel with avo, pesto, and tomato, and she knicked her hubbie's feta for it as well - I was soo jealous and plan to reproduce at home. Definitely well worth a visit, if you can find a table! 4.5 stars

I feel like Cafe Cuba is good. Its like your average cafe but you dont get disappointed as much. You cant go wrong with them, but it can sometimes get boring they dont change the food on the menu around and its pretty basic stuff

Cafe Cuba offers a wide variety of hot/cold drinks and food, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The cabinet food looks brilliant and their new cabinet slice, cheekily named "2am in Wangas" is likely to cause a rarkus with the straight edge liberals amongst us. If you have a sweet tooth, their silk cake is famous in Palmerston North, though I prefer the Banoffee Pie. Seating options are good, inside can be a touch crowded during busy periods, though their outdoor seating is brilliant on a sunny day - If you are a taller individual target an outdoor seat with metal legs as opposed to the black plastic variety as the latter seem to be about an inch too high for the height of their tables. Cafe Cuba is one of my absolute favourites for atmosphere, perfect for an informal gathering with friends, the Cuban Marxist Revolutionary vibe is evident in the Art, Decor and in the names of some food items (Marx Slice). One can imagine Fidel or Guevara sitting comfortably in a corner plotting revolution over a Vege Bene. Unfortunately for Cafe Cuba there is absolutely no consistency in the quality of their coffee, sometimes it is great, other times it is truely terrible. Today was one of those terrible occasions, the Long Black was so damn bitter it had to be replaced and the replacement was equally bitter - It truely is a shame given how simple it is to purge a coffee machine in order to extract a decent Long Black with the full bodied flavour one craves (which I tend to tip for). Hopefully Cafe Cuba can rectify this Cafinated travesty in future, as one bad experience will not put me off a cafe but unfortunately today I can only award a very generous 3 stars for this visit - see you another day team!

Cafe Cuba is our go-to cafe when visiting Palmerston North. A wide selection of food from either menu or counter complemented with excellent coffee or a tea/cold drink selection.

Clearly a very popular place to be on a Sunday morning, but it did not feel cramped and the staff were friendly and upbeat and the service was fast and efficient. The food was lovely although definitely on the pricey side.

Casual café environment. Good selection of cabinet and kitchen foods. Some options for the gluten and dairy challenged. Has milk replacement options for hot drinks at a reasonable price.

I visited cafe cuba with mum for lunch. The service and staff serving and clearing tables were incredibly efficient and friendly and professional. The food was delicious. We were extremely impressed. Thank you.

I go there regularly, they always have numerous delicious slices in the cabinet that are Gluten Free! They also have great breakfast options and friendly service.

Quick service, good food and a lovely setting, can sit inside or out side , all the food I have tried there is Perfect, plentiful and fair price for quality and good service, dont think it would be wheelchair friendly not less it was a nice day and used out door setting, very close to city shopping and park like area to go and relax after your meal

Not too bad for Palmerston North so 4 stars but if I was in Wellington or Auckland I would probably give it 3 stars. Food is satisfying but nothing special. Staff are friendly.

Fantastic food, lady taking order service brilliant, however after an 80 dollars plus bill - to be asked for a 2dollars cost for a side of tomato sauce about the size of large table spoon was a little costly, then to actually be told in a little speech from the waitress that the table was required for a reservation and to top it off be asked to display a blue reservation sign while we still sitting at the table, we really felt a little bit discriminated against.

Pre ordered our food. It was out 10 mins after we arrived. (Right after our coffee order was taken) Everything tasted great! Awesome service 😁
