Great place to dine. We came here for a special evening, and Quarter Acre Bistro delivered. Great food, presented in a gorgeous way, along with friendly, efficient service, we will definitely be back.

I know this place for many years, not coming often as it is not close to me. But when I come here We are never disappointed. The food is always great and of superb quality. The cakes are great and the service friendly. The place itself is for relaxing and resting. Always a good place to stop for some great food.

Lovely food salad was absolutely fabulous. Vaccine pass required though. Triple chocolate cake very nice. Clean tidy indoor and gorgeous outside garden setting with ample seating available

Not quite in Otaki, not quite in Levin, you might easily pass by this cute little spot or mistake it for a typical roadside diner. We sometimes come here for breakfast. The options are somewhat limited - don't expect much beyond the traditional standards of full English, egg benedict, etc. There are a couple of dishes - the waffles and mushroom ragout - that standout though. Experience shows the food to be consistently reasonable, with some sprinklings of originality and flair. But really the main reason you'd come here is the ambience, particularly in summer. There is a generous outdoor seating area set amongst a lovely mix of native and old style country gardens. There's plenty of space to bring your pup or children (it's not clear if any other animals are allowed though). There is even a trampoline (presumably for small human animals only). Service can be slow during busy periods, which is understandable for a semi-rural eatery like this (managing demand and staffing must be a headache). Many of the servers are genuinely lovely and accommodating, and again, it's hard to fault management for the ones that are less so. It's been tough times for all in recent years, and it's nice to be able to lose yourself for an hour or two at a sweet little retreat such as this.

Yummo selection of delicious food. I had a perfectly cooked snapper, my son a steak and then NY cheesecake and my daughter a salad followed by Eton mess. Large outside table areas under trees. Dog friendly. Trampoline for the kids. Friendly and welcoming staff. Definitely worth crossing the road for! Some of the outside furniture needs replacing or repair so I would check the table and chairs for strength before leaning on them. Please give me a 👍🏻up below if you like my description.

The food was delicious super friendly staff, down hill is that we had to wait a while but it was worth the wait very filling and I could go off 2 days after eating a meal✨

Timely service from super helpful friendly staff during a busy Saturday evening dinner service. We ordered an entree and a main. The squid entree was delicious and the fillet steaks and accompaniments were cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive checking to see that we were happy with our meals and if more beverages were required.

Flat white were good and the salad was also nice! But 7,5$ for such a small portion of fries was a bit too expensive.

Very quaint setting. Loved the fresh roses on the tables (and in the bathroom?!) and the bright atmosphere. French toast was tasty, and all the cabinet goods looked fantastic.

Great food and customer service. The southern style chicken burger was awesome. Yum👍

Charming hidden treasure. Good quality food with attractive seating areas inside and out. Not for the budget conscious but well worth a try especially for the gardens heritage home lovers or a special occasion.

Lovely setting and very pleasant staff. The only downside was we Had to wait an hour for our meals, but they were very tasty when they did turn up.

The menu was a bit limited for my taste, but the food is cooked extremely well. What I like most is the atmosphere, in which we could completely relax and enjoy the company we had. It pays to book a table, especially on weekends and public holidays.

Quarter Acre is a lovely cafe just off SH1 In Manakau. Very good options from cabinet or menu and a variety of places to sit. Rustic with flowers and trees. The staff are excellent and very keen to make your meal memorable. A relaxing venue for locals and travelers.

Outstanding food and customer service desserts are just yummy chocolate cake is to die for just emmm :) and its in a great location on the main high way as you come in or go out of Manukau. If traffic is ever built up through that way this would be my pick five star 🌟 to stop in and enjoy the great atmosphere, company is great and just love that you can eat in or outside by the garden, definitely a five star 🌟 🌟 🌟

This place is the whole package! Beautiful place and surrounds. Gorgeous, friendly, beyond helpful staff. And the food was absolutely impeccable. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. We will assuredly be bringing family and friends back again!

Nice coffee right at the highway. We popped in for a coffee and had a brownie. The coffee was good, the service lady wasn't too friendly (the younger women were tough), the brownie was way too sweet (don't eat it). I guess they also serve food, but we didn't try that.

Best Wagyu burger I have ever eaten and partner had Kingfish, meals where delicious and we will be visiting again, highly recommend for the hungry traveler, great hostess.

The Quarter Acre bistro is off the main highway and is more restaurant than café. There is some counter food but sufficient choice between the starters and mains if you just want a light lunch. Out coffees were excellent, the food (Caesar salad, calamari, scones and carrot cake) were excellent quality. The staff were friendly and attentive and I recommend the Quarter Acre, even better if you've got some time to enjoy the outdoor garden setting.

Had a lovely breakfast. Large serving! Great service and coffee hit the spot. Check out the stream pit the back for a surprise!

Awesome! Called in for a late breakfast on our way up the island. Eggs Benedicts and coffee...couldn't fault it. Will definitely be calling in on our next roadie. Would love to try their dinner menu.

Lovely cafe in a beautiful setting. Coffee and food were delicious - would've given another star if there was something on their breakfast menu for vegetarians/vegans. Our vegetarian had to settle for a cheese scone. It should be the norm these days to have a vege/vegan option on the menu - and not have to request one. Nonetheless it was a lovely place for our brunch stop.

A nice little cafe with great food that my wife and I went to a couple times while we were in the area. We only went for breakfast / brunch but it was all good. They also have a beautiful outdoor area that has a creek with eels in it.

Arrived quite late around 3pm, only cabinet food available plus calamari or wings on offer. Okay coffee. Seated outside to enjoy beautiful garden setting on warm breezy spring day. Attentive staff, but we have to ask for water. Child friendly cafe with huge outdoor run around and trampoline. Will return again to try lunch/dinner menu.

Not overly impressed, I had a ceasar salad for lunch, didn't even resemble a Ceasars salad. Expensive for a few bagged lettuce leaves and grated parmesan cheese.

Had a dinner with a group of friends this weekend. The service was quick and friendly. The place was full and buzzing and our food was fast to come out and so delicious. Lamb croquettes were a hit!

A lovely garden adjacent to a rustling stream. Nice choices and flexibility with food but the combination was pricy. A pity that both toilets were unisex and therefore too dirty for a lady. Thank you for nice service.

Great place to stop, friendly staff and very yummy food (triple layered carrot cake!!). Both cabinet and menu available. Lots of things for the kids,Tramp and even a stream to check out the eels. Plenty of space both indoor and outdoor to find somewhere quiet to hide too.

A very pleasant and convenient cafe to stop at when travelling north. Good range of menu items and "cabinet food". Coffee is ok and teas available. Combination of indoor/outdoor spaces. Inside, tables are set attractively with vase of flowers on every table. Outdoor space has gardens, real ones, with flowers, and a fringing stream behind with eels and fish. Children love standing at the rail to watch. Highly recommended

After reading the reviews we had high hopes and were not disappointed, service was great, lovely helpful and efficient. The food came out quite fast for how busy the restaurant was on a Saturday night. It also looked and tasted great. We both ordered steaks (OP and eye fillet) ordered medium rare and both were perfectly cooked all the way and nice charring on the outside! We will be stopping here again in the future!! Wonderful experience here. The staff are extremely helpful and genuinely lovely people. We hardly had to wait, the food looked beautiful when it came out and the flavours were just out of this world. Restaurant dishes for cafe prices and so easy to pop in and out from the busy road. With fresh flowers on every table and a gorgeous quiet outdoor area it's a real treat to stop in, relax and be well looked after. Great coffee too.

Well you did ask! The staff were fantastic! I had a steak that was so tough it was very difficult to eat. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. The birthday cake for my daughter was excellent. The wine was superb.

Loved the food, service and surroundings

Two of us went for an early-ish Saturday night dinner 10-12-17. We were seated nicely, given the specials and left with menus to peruse while our drinks order was filled. We worked our way through the menu, tasted each others food (as you do) and were delighted with every dish. It is a limited menu (not extremely limited) and it seemed that great care was taken with every dish. We were delighted with everything we ate. Taste, presentation and service was all top-notch. It is relatively expensive food and wine, but when everything delights on the plate and sings on the palate it starts to look like very good value indeed. We are "foodies" we know our ingredients, we know what fresh should look like and taste like. We had a great evening and were very impressed. Good work team!!! Jane and Cliff

Have been going past this cafe from 2015!!!! Have been thinking that it must be good, otherwise why would people stop here??!! But to my utter annoyance that I just couldn't get the opportunity to visit this place. Well, I made it my mission yesterday to do so. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY!!! Hubby had steak. I had salad, son had burger. I am not a fan of steak BUT after taking a bite from hubby's plate I was swooning. It was that bloody delicious. The sauce was to die for. The burger was equally delicious. Salad was good. Service was excellent. The ladies were very attentive and friendly. Will I go back??? You betcha!!!

Excellent lunch, we had soup of the day and roasted veg salad with beautiful seasonal ingredients. Carrot cake was top class and the service was next to none. I cannot recommend this cosy and quality cafe enough!

Great menu and cabinet food. Especially good for families with outdoor seating in an established garden, a trampoline and a stream with large resident eels to see. The fresh cut roses in the bathrooms were also a nice touch.

We found this cafe through Google while driving from Napier to Wellington. A lovely house set in very pretty gardens. The food was excellent, although I warn against ordering the burger unless you are very hungry. A glass of wine from the comprehensive list made it a lovely lunch. There was a very tempting selection of desserts.

Unexpectedly amazing! Service was spot on, very personable, friendly & accomodating. Food was amazing, when they say homemade they mean it... even some of the sauces. Atmosphere was lovely, we sat outside under the trees. Highly recommend

One of the several top class cafes on the coast. Really consistent in terms of service and quality of food. Great location with brilliant facilities for the kids such as big trampoline and place to watch the eels in the river. We go every few weeks and have done for couple of years now. Never once been disappointed. Absolutely worth the wee drive.

Highly recommend. Staff were attentive even though the restaurant was busy. Good selection of starters, mains and desserts. Particularly enjoyed the wine we had. Very pleasant surroundings. It was winter, but imagine it would be great in summer in the outdoor seating area.

We popped in for a late lunch on Sunday. Served by a charming funny young. Food was quick and very yummy. It was 3pm so impressed with the kitchen. The garlic bread was fabulous. We ordered off lunch menu as only sweets left in counter food. We will be back. My kids loved it too.

The food and beverage is just above totally Awesome..get the home style potatoes because it is original and unique that will have you wanting more...great place also for a quick stop for coffees and quick takeaway foods which are great. Great place also to rejuvenate after long driving where you can walk around and feel fresh. 10 out of 10 from me.

Do not go past this venue, do visit, eat and enjoy. A fabulous venue, great service excellent food and drink selections. Tables are comfortably sized and the service delivery is timely, well prepared, well presented and just GOOD. If I was local I would be back for more on a regular basis. Book your table and dont be disappointed.

Great place for lunch brunch and dinner.

Friendly, flexible staff helped with the requirements of our booking. Lovely ground and nice to see the kids enjoying the trampoline. Not a lot of alternate options for vegetarians, and for dairy free people. Otherwise we enjoyed our trip and meals. Note: This is on the more expensive end of where I'd usually eat.

OMG this place is great, first time we went (around Christmas time) they had a Pork Belly Burger Special, which consisted of melt in your mouth strips of pork belly it was Amazing. We were visiting our Dad again last weekend in Otaki and drove there again, we had the Southern Fried Chicken Burger which was nice and crispy and juicy on the inside and it had great dressing, both times we had the Beignets they were amazing although I could have done with more vanilla cream, berry jam. We got a Quarter Acre triple layer chocolate cake to take away we wish we had bought the whole cake when we tried it lol. Looking forward to going back next time we travel down that way

A really nice café. Great place to take the whole family. There's a big garden out back that you can sit in and the kids can run around. The food is good and the staff are very friendly. There was a bit of a wait for the food last time I was there.

About midway between Otaki and Levin on State Highway 1 is this cafe bistro. Ample parking and indoor outdoor seating this place has a starter calamari dish to die for. We had this as a starter along with the bread and dips with beautifully warm home made ciabatta. Pricing was as expected and the service was pleasant and friendly. The car park was half full and on a previous visit it was darn near full but there are plenty of tables inside and out that getting served is not a problem. Recommend. I have added two snaps of the men’s urinal which I think is amusing - it shows that men enter for a pee looking down. Hence the first snap showing a sign in the urinal and you can see why by the second pic. Great sense of humour by the cafe owners.

Lunch outside..looked extremely busy but the service very prompt without being pushy. Food just what we wanted. Sitting here writing the review drinking Paris tea and having dessert. Awesome!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere at the Quarter Acre Cafe. The staff were friendly, helpful and pleasant. Our food was served promptly and the coffee was tasty! Don't forget a slice of the chocolate cake for the road - assuming you won't be able to fit it in after your meal... Although I did :)

Not bad. OP steak was great, Laska prawns was nice but the vermicelli noodles were too difficult to eat and didn't work with the dish.

Wonderful experience, delicious food and our 3 young boys were well taken care of - great shaded tables outside and a very helpful young waiter. Would definitely go there again!

Consistently the best cafe in Kapiti. We try to make the trip from Peka Peka when we can and its always worth the drive. The staff are lovely, the service is always top notch and the surroundings are picturesque as well as being really kid friendly. Favourites for me are the steak sandwich, the amazing mustardy chips and the orange syrup cakes. The kids love the dino baskets and Nutella sandwiches :) We are really spoiled for choice in Kapiti but even so, quarter acre still stands out from the crowd. 6 stars.

ok food, potato rosti stack was a bit on the small side, others who dines with me loved the chicken bueger though! but the main attraction is the beautiful garden setting and the eels in the creek were a huge hit with the partons/city folk. will definitely come back!

We went there for an 80th birthday and the staff were so helpful and pleasant The birthday girl was treated like a queen and we all enjoyed our meals. The menu was vast for a country restaurant and we will definitely be going back

The best place to eat in the evenings if you within 30k of Quarter Acre, cant speak for the daytime but they have great meals and a good wine list for the 3 nights a week they are open and we are happy to travel to go here rather than the make do spots we are used to on the coast.

Was a bit disappointed with new menu, it wasn't as good as before they shut down over winter. Was also a light dearer than before. Servings were very small.

Beautiful dining experience every time. The staff are attentive and understanding. The food and drinks are sublime.

Really good gravy for the poutine, nice hot chips, but as is normal for most NZ restaurants, they choose to use regular cheese rather than cheese curds.

The fish tacos, calamari and the vegetable salad were all delicious and service was good, but the number of calamari was scant - somewhat fewer than on our previous visit.

This is a nice cafe for lunch, the service was fantastic and the food was good, just don't sit by the door because the patrons come in and out and leave it open so that you end up in a draught or you are getting up multiple times during your meal to close it

Fabulous range of options,cabinet food or menu.Lovely indoor,outdoor flow re seating according to weather. Family friendly.,and lovely spots to warm in the sun.Lovely thoughtfully service.

1st time here. Lovely setting, friendly staff, good coffee. Set just off State1. Great place to stop for a stretch if driving.

Friendly and fast service. Enjoyed our meals and had good veggie options. Only thing negative I would say is skip the dessert (brownie was really odd). Would return.

Was quite a nice meal except we did ask for an extra egg with the lifestyle breakfast and it came out well after we had finished bit disappointed we did tell them when we got the meal it was missing and waited for some time for it.
