R.So pleased we stopped here. You're slowing down for the single track bridges so you may as well stop!
The ice cream is superb. The coffee was aromatic and tasty.
However that's only part of the story. The patrons are delightful and directed us to a fantastic 40min circular walk across the dam and then along the side of the stunning valley and across a mind dizzying suspension bridge with amazing views of the valley and hydro plant.
A hidden gem from start to finish, with free parking and restrooms.
P.Basically, it looks like a few friends have bought an ice cream truck and a coffee truck.
What makes it interesting is that the bloke we spoke to was a good old-fashioned snake oil salesman. It's worth paying money just to see him and his sales pitch. The great ice creams ate a bonus.
A.It's really odd to have ice cream in such a odd place. It's was beautiful but only suggestion is to have more flavours than vanilla.
S.This is a must do for anyone!!! Maria and Kelvin are some of the kindest, funniest, and warmest people around. I was exhausted and lost after a long bicycle journey when I met them. They helped me with travel logistics in addition to getting me into a happier mood:). And the ice cream is the best I’ve had in New Zealand.
S.Fantastic. I was a regular when they did the Auckland scene. I wondered where they had 'retired too'. So glad their still making quality ice cream. I actually went today especially to buy an ice cream. Unfortunately I only got as far as the suspension bridge and I never saw them :( only now resin I didn't quite get to where they may have been at the actual dam. As I still live in Auckland it may be some time before I'm back :(
M.Kelvin and Maria are spreading happiness to people by selling delicious Ice cream and coffee and charmfull outgoing personalities in beautiful places like Lake Arapuni. We have had the best desert ice cream in the world along with Maria's coffee and ice coffee in the Italian style.They made our trip to Lake Arapuni very special.
I highly encourage people to taste their delicious coffee and ice cream!!
J.Heathers Ice cream is a mobile icecream truck which is usually parked at the car park by the Arapuni dam. (Apparently they are there except when the weather is really bad.) The same couple run a coffee truck as well. I haven't tried the coffee, but the ice cream was just the thing after a ride on the cycle track.
B.Great ice cream! Just what we needed after a long walk over the swing bridge and dam. Nice to stop and talk to Kelvin and Maria about Volkswagens while we were there as well.
C.First of all im pretty sure heather is a godess that was cast on to the earth from the starry heavens through an ancient spawning ritual only knowen to the nordic folk in northern Finland who have almost been bred out. Her beauty outshines anything i have ever seen at times im not even sure i tried the cream because i was stricken and confused by what i was looking at. 5 stars is not enough i rate heather a milky way worth of stars
